• iCal and Google Calendar are synced, but invitations don't show up on Google Calendar

  So I can view my Google Calendar from iCal. However when I get an invitation sent through Apple Mail and I click it, it adds the invite to the default iCal calendar and not my Google Calendar (i.e. going to Google Calendar or bringing it up on my iPhone doesn't show the newly-added event). How can I change this so clicking on an invite will add it to my Google Calendar and display in iCal's synced Google Calendar view?

• Windows XP update not working

  I have a problem with XP updating. It hangs when I try to search for updates on the website. But the automatic updates still work. And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8. So looking at these logs, is there anything going wrong with the update process? Any domain account that logs on to my 2008 machine gets a +- 20 second waiting time on "user profile service" I am using roaming profiles, they are around 8mb in size, and most folders are already redirected to a network share. event log registers no errors, there is more than 1 network card installed, but I have the correct card listed as "primary" Is there any way to increase verbosity of logging on specifically the "user profile service" ? • Network Logon Issues with Group Policy and Network

  I am gravely in need of your help and assistance. We have a problem with our logon and startup to our Windows 7 Enterprise system. We have more than 3000 Windows Desktops situated in roughly 20+ buildings around campus. Almost every computer on campus has the problem that I will be describing. I have spent over one month peering over etl files from Windows Performance Analyzer (A great product) and hundreds of thousands of event logs. I come to you today humbled that I could not figure this out. The problem as simply put our logon times are extremely long. An average first time logon is roughly 2-10 minutes depending on the software installed. All computers are Windows 7, the oldest computers being 5 years old. Startup times on various computers range from good (1-2 minutes) to very bad (5-60). Our second time logons range from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. We have a gigabit connection between each computer on the network. We have 5 domain controllers which also double as our DNS servers. Initial testing led us to believe that this was a software problem. So I spent a few days testing machines only to find inconsistent results from the etl files from xperfview. Each subset of computers on campus had a different subset of software issues, none seeming to interfere with logon just startup. So I started looking at our group policy and located some very interesting event ID’s. Group Policy 1129: The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. Group Policy 1055: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). NETLOGON 5719 : This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain OURDOMAIN due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator. E1kexpress 27: Intel®82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection – Network link is disconnected. NetBT 4300 – The driver could not be created. WMI 10 - Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. More or less with timestamps it becomes apparent that the network maybe the issue. 1:25:57 - Group Policy is trying to discover the domain controller information 1:25:57 - The network link has been disconnected 1:25:58 - The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. This may be a transient condition. A success message would be generated once the machine gets connected to the domain controller and Group Policy has successfully processed. However on a newly booted machine a user can login before the installation has a chance to complete and I get an warning in the event log saying it couldn't complete and will be tried at next reboot. We can connect to 8 other SQL Servers on the domain using Windows Authentication. Just this one, whitch is the only one that is 2008 R2 is failing. So i assume it's a bug with *2008 R2. Note: i cannot logon locally, or remotely, using Windows authentication. i can login locally and remotely using SQL Server Authentication. Update Note: It's not limited to SQL Server Management Studio, standalone applications that connect using Windows authentication: fail: Note: It's not a client problem, as we can connect fine to other (non-SQL Server 2008 R2 machines): i'm sure there's a technote or knowledge base article describing why SQL Server 2008 R2 is broken by default, but i can't find it. Update 2 Matt figure out the change that Microsoft made so that SQL Server 2008 R2 is broken by default: Administrators are no longer administrators All that remains is to figure out how to make Administrators administrators. One of these days i'm going to start a list of changes around Microsoft's "broken by default" initiative. Steps to reproduce the problem How do i add a group to the sysadmin fixed server role? Here's the steps i try, that don't work: Click Add: Click Object Types: Ensure that you have no ability to add groups: and click OK. Under Enter the object names to select, enter Administrators: Click Check Names, and ensure that you are not allowed to add groups: and click Cancel. Click Browse..., and ensure that you have no ability to add groups: You should now still not have added any group to the sysadmin role.   I deployed an ASP.NET web application last night and I when I woke up this morning it was very slow and would occasionally just throw a 'Service Unavailable' error. I checked the Event Viewer and it was filled up with these errors: I'm puzzled as it was working perfectly when I deployed it (MonoTorrent is required to retrieve the number of seeders/leechers for a certain torrent off the tracker - this was working fine), but it's no longer working and whenever code that uses MonoTorrent gets involved, the worker process just crashes. MonoTorrent.dll is in the /bin/ directory.

  Hi guys, I have a primary write server (server1) which replications to two servers (server2 and server3) which are query servers. I am replicating all databases to these servers including the MySQL database. When i execute a GRANT as follows replication works perfectly.. GRANT execute,select ON database1.* TO `user1`@`host` IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; However if i did the same GRANT to alter permissions on an existing user without IDENTIFIED clause replication breaks.. Error 'Can't find any matching row in the user table' on query. Default database: 'mysql'. Query: 'GRANT execute,select ON database1.* TO `user`@`host`' If I try and run the query manually i get the same error.. I have made up the following script for a quick install all in one, and it raises an error...   I'm trying to upgrade an evaluation instance of SQL Server 2008 to a fully licensed instance of SQL Server 2008 R2. I made it most of the way through the installer, but I'm getting stopped at the Upgrade Rules page - the SQL Server Analysis Services Upgrade Service Functional Check is failing. The specific error I get: Rule "SQL Server Analysis Services Upgrade Service Functional Check" failed. The current instance of the SQL Server Analysis Services service cannot be upgraded because the Analysis Services service is disabled or not online. Please start the service and then run the upgrade rules check again. Simple enough - just need to start the service. Here's where it gets troublesome. When I open Services and go to start the SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service, it provides me the following message: The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. Trying from the command line as Administrator yields: PS C:\Windows\System32 net start MSSQLServerOLAPService The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service is starting... The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service could not be started. The service did not report an error. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534. I've tried changing the logon setting of this service to Administrator, a user with admin privileges, and both the Local System and Network Service accounts - nothing works. In addition, when I look at the service through the SQL Server Configuration Manager (also run as Administrator), attempting to change the logon setting for the service results in the message: The server threw an exception. [0x80010105] I have no need for analysis services themselves - all I need is for this one service to be running long enough to do the R2 upgrade, then it can shut down again. Any thoughts on how to get the Analysis Services service running? Update: Checking the event log, I found an error logged to the Application log from the MSSQLServerOLAPService. It has event ID 0, task category (289), and says: The service cannot be started: XML parsing failed at line 1, column 4: Unrecognized input signature.

  I have identified the file that prevent me from further shrinking C: partition for Windows 7 OS. By query shrinking and then checking Event Viewer, this is the file: The last unmovable file appears to be: \ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Wi ndows\Projects\SystemIndex\Indexer\CiFiles\0001001 5.wid::$DATA I was wondering how to move this file away? I guess I have to move the whole \ProgramData away, not just that file?
