• adding a column dynamically and hiding the first column like jquery slider ..

  I have a html page with 10 columns but I don't have show all in same page instead I have to show only 4 column moreover I have to render those column on a button click call add column. What is the best approach to render 1-4 column first ? Fist column render first and on clicking button say add will render 2nd column , than 3rd and fourth. Now when i will load 5th column ...I will have to hide 1st column so that i will accommodate 4 columns but data inside that column will stay ....my limit is to show 4 column at a time and hiding leftmost .... any helpful javascript or jquery advice will be appreciated ..thanks!

• changing img src with JQuery but leave pathing info intact?

  I'm using JQuery to switch out an image src thusly: $("#myImg").attr("src", "../../new.gif"); notice the relative pathing on the new src. Unfortunately, this isn't portable when I deploy my app. In my MVC app I'm using a ResolveUrl() method that will fix the pathing problem for me so it's portable, but now my JQuery image src swapper doesn't work right since it now switches the correctly resolved path to a broken relative one. <img id="myImg" src="<%=ResolveUrl("~/Images/transparent.gif")%>" /> What I want is for JQuery to just flip the actual filename and leave the path untouched. My first thought would be to // pseudocode javascript jquery on my thought on how to approach this prob var oldFullPath = $('#myImg").GetTheImgSrc; var newFileNameWithPathIntact = someRegexAddNewFileNameWithOldPath $("#myImg").attr("src", newFileNameWithPathIntact); but that seems rather gross and un-JQuery to me. • Tabbed browsing, programaticaly navigating to another open tab

  Hello, I'm in a discussion with my co-worker. We have a web application in a tabbed browsing environment, say with 2 tabs open. Tab2 has a link to tab1, when I click the link, it opens tab1 in a new tab. We want to detect if tab 1 is already open, if so then set focus to tab1 (and not open a new window). He has gotten this working in a broswer window environment, but says it is not possible in a tabbed environment. Is it possible to for javascript to determine if tab1 is already open and then just set focus to that tab? Thanks in advance!

  In my masterpage, i'm having one textbox for searching purpose. if we press enterkey it is redirecting to some otherpage. But it is happening only one time. next time when i enter some text and press enter key, it is not going to the Keydown event handler. • JQuery cookie access has stopped working for GAE app

  I have a google app engine app that has been running for some time, and some javascript code that checks for a login cookie has suddenly stopped working. As far as I can tell, NO code has changed. The relevant code uses the jquery cookies plugin (jquery.cookies.2.2.0.min.js)... // control the default screen depending // if someone is logged in if( $.cookies.get('dev_appserver_login') != null || $.cookies.get('ACSID') != null ) { alert("valid cookie!") $("#inventory-container").show(); } else { alert("INvalid cookie!") $("#welcome-container").show(); } The reason for the two checks is that in the GAE SDK, the cookies are named differently. The production system uses 'ACSID'. This if statement works in the SDK and now fails 100% of the time in production. I have verified that the cookie is, in fact, present when I inspect the page. Thoughts?

• Identify the checkbox that is checked

  Hello Everyone, I have 2 checkboxes in a form and onclick of these, some php code needs to be executed and based on the result of the code, the checkbox is checked or unchecked. So i have written onclick = document.formName.submit(); Now it is triggering the same page and i am able to write the code. I am not able to differentiate which checkbox is checked. I don't want to use the procedure of:- calling javascript and then storing the value of the checkbox in a variable and making this variable as invisible. I would like to write something like document.formName.submit('checkbox1'). So that i should be able to handle the value of this or i dont know. Please suggest me an alternative method or better approach.

  I would like to know the method of using RegisterForEventValidation in asp.net My problem is this. If I enable eventvalidation, then changing the controls using javascript and then posting the information back to the server later on throws up an error. But If I disable event validation, the data present/selected in the controls is not available in the event handlers in code behind. So, how should one resolve such issues? Also, are there are any good articles that explain the issue and a resolution in detail? Tried googling. Came across many articles. But nothing that matched my expectations. Thanks!

  Hello, I would to use JavaScript to clean up text that’s being copied from my site. I use snippets like this: body { vertical-align: middle; ? } Where ? indicates comment later on. I want readers to copy this snippet and use it – so I need to delete that Unicode marker. How can I access text that’s being copied and make changes to it? I considered deleting marker(s) from snippet when user clicks (mousedown) on it, so she could select the text, copy it and then I would restore markers but it seems a really long way to do it.

• Closing any open info windows in google maps api v3

  As the title states, on a given event (for me this happens to be upon opening a new google.maps.InfoWindow I want to be able to close any other currently open info windows. Right now, I can open many at a time..but I want only 1 open at a time. I am creating the info windows dynamically (i.e. I don't know ahead of time how many will be generated), so in the click event of the current info window (which is where I want all the other open ones closed) I don't have a reference to any of the other open info windows on which to call close(). I am wondering how I can achieve this. I am not an experienced JavaScript programmer so I don't know if I need to use reflection or something similar here. Would the best way be just to save all the references in some sort of collection, then loop through the list closing them all? Thanks.

• How do polymorphic inline caches work with mutable types?

  A polymorphic inline cache works by caching the actual method by the type of the object, in order to avoid the expensive lookup procedures (usually a hashtable lookup). How does one handle the type comparison if the type objects are mutable (i.e. the method might be monkey patched into something different at run time). The one idea I've come up with would be a "class counter" that gets incremented each time a method is adjusted, however this seems like it would be exceptionally expensive in a heavily monkey patched environ since it would kill all the PICs for that class, even if the methods for them weren't altered. I'm sure there must be a good solution to this, as this issue is directly applicable to Javascript and AFAIK all 3 of the big JS VMs have PICs (wow acronym ahoy).

• Creating a custom widget using django for use on external sites

  I have a new site that I am putting together and part of it has statistics for the site's users. I would like to create a widget that others can use on another website by invoking javascript that reads data from my server and shows that statistics for a given user, but I am having a hard time finding specific tutorials that covers this in django. I have seen the link at Alex Maradon's site [0], but it looks to me like that is passing html back to the widget and I am having a hard time figuring out how to do this using something like xml.   Hi, I am using a dropdown to populate a textbox. But if preferred value is not present in dropdown then user directaly enter value in that textbox. If user selects value from dropdown first and then he don't want that value and he types another text in that textbox then at this time the dropdown should be set to index 0 as user is typing another value. • Slickgrid, confirm before edit

  I am making a slick grid and need the ability to add rows with a code column. For this to be possible the code column needs to be editable for the entire table. I am trying to work out a way that I can confirm the edit with a standard javascript confirm popup box. I tried putting one into the onedit event within the slickgrid constructor and that executed after the edit. I am led to believe that the edit function is independent from calling the edit stored procedure of the database. Is there a better way to go about this?   Now that Opera Mini is becoming so popular in the App store I want to effectively warn my web site visitors that the rendition they see in Opera Mini is far from what I meant them to see and redirect them to my page in Mobile Safari, so they can enjoy HTML5 and CSS3. I've been banging my head around that task all day long, but I can't seem to find a solution. My hope lies in the custom URL schemes, but seems Opera Mini handles all schemes which usually Safari does. Would be great if there's a scheme like safari://www.domain.com which opens ONLY in Safari, so I can redirect the visitors to it. Does anybody know a solution to that problem? --edit Just to make myself clear - browser detection is not the problem (I'm doing Javascript for 13 years now) the question is if there's a way to invoke the Safari app on the iPhone from within a web page which is being viewed in Opera Mini.
