Someone please tell me what is wrong with my configuration. I'm sick of digging through Jetty's crappy documentation.

• Strange exception when connecting to a WCF service via a proxy server

  The exception "This operation is not supported for a relative URI." occurs in the following situation: I have a WCF service: [ServiceContract(ProtectionLevel=ProtectionLevel.None)] public interface IMyService { [OperationContract] [FaultContract(typeof(MyFault))] List<MyDto> MyOperation(int param); // other operations } public class MyService : IMyService { public List<MyDto> MyOperation(int param) { // Do the business stuff and return a list of MyDto } // other implementations } MyFault and MyDto are two very simple classes marked with [DataContract] attribute and each only having three [DataMember] of type string, int and int?. This service is hosted in IIS 7.0 on a Win 2008 Server along with an ASP.NET application. I am using an SVC file MyService.svc which is located directly in the root of the web site. When I run this client application on my development PC with exactly the same config, with the exception that I remove proxyAddress="10.20.30.40:8080" from the bindings the operation works without problems. Now I really don't know what specifying a proxy server address might have to do with absolute or relative URIs. The use of the proxy server or not is the only difference I can see when running the client on the production or on the development machine. • Blackberry - Exception when sending SMS programmatically

  Hello all, I am developing a Blackberry application. I am trying to send SMS programmatically to GSM number. I have gone through many queries and answers related to that and finally added the code for that as below. When the code tries to execute sending some text message to the particular mobile number, it doesn't send and throws exception as "blocking operation not permitted on event dispatch thread". So i created a separate background thread where i put the SMS code and running the code now. But still observing the same exception.   This is my first time creating an iPhone App and I am having difficulty with the memory management because I have never had to deal with it before. I have a UITableViewController and it all works fine until I try to scroll down in the simulator. It crashes saying that it cannot allocate that much memory. • JQuery Pure Template

  I cant figure out whats wrong. Its working when i tried to refresh only topics but it doesnt works when tried to refresh topics and page-links. ie. topics table's refreshing, and 'pagelinks' disappearing, i thought pure cannot reach - read second template node. By the way, i tested their code, first message box show up all of nodes - includes 'pagelinks' node, but second one - in function only show up topic rows. Its look like a bug. Anyone knows how can i solve this? ps. I'm using latest version of pure. Thanks. The only problem is my menu isn't overlaying my map, it pushes the content up. I tried with the menu manager like in your first response, resizing the content manager but it is the same result. Max gave me the link http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1497073/blackberry-fields-layout-animation to do so, but I really don't know how to use it to make it work in my project... Thank you for your help! UPDATE This works great, it's what I wanted. However, I still have a problem because I'm under 4.5. So first in the MenuHostManager constructor, I deleted the USE_ALL_HEIGHT and change setPositionChild(mMenuManager, 0, Display.getHeight() - mMenuManager.getPreferredHeight()); like this to have the menu at the bottom of the screen. It worked. Then, instead of drawing my bitmaps, I did this: Bitmap nBitmap = EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("menu" + i + ".png").getBitmap(); BitmapButtonField button = new BitmapButtonField(nBitmap, nBitmap); And it worked too (no rollover for now, later). So it is great! I also overwrite the Paint method of my CyclicHFManager to have a background color, because I can't use the BorderFactory and BackgroundFactory... My menu bar has a color for now so it's ok. Then, because of these 2 classes missing, in my BitmapButtonField I had to delete the 2 setBorder functions that change the borders. And now i have my buttons pretty big like normal buttons with borders... How can I make the same effect as the setBorder functions under 4.5? (BTW, setBorder is not working under 4.5 too...). • mfc tab control switch tabs

  I created a simple tab control that has 2 tabs (each tab is a different dialog). The thing is that i don't have any idea how to switch between tabs (when the user presses Titlu Tab1 to show the dialog i made for the first tab, and when it presses Titlu Tab2 to show my other dialog). I added a handler for changing items, but i don't know how should i acces some kind of index or child for tabs. Tab1.h and Tab2.h are headers for dialogs that show only static texts with the name of the each tab. There may be an obvious answer to my question, but i am a real newbie in c++ and MFC.   I've written a couple of tests for a small web app, but I get an error when I try to run the page specific tests that makes use of WicketTester. Google sends me to a mailing list for Apache Wicket, where a user experienced the same exception. He/she said the problem was that AnnotApplicationContextMock was initialized before the Wicket Application. I've pasted my WicketApplication class as well. Investigation on StackOverflow and generally googling led me to this blog post that seems to describe my problem: TryUpdateModel() does not correctly handle nested collections. Apparently, (and stepping through the debugger confirms this) it creates a new ChildObject instead of associating with the EF objects from my instantiated context. My hacky work around is this: if (viewModel.ChildObjects.Count > 0) { foreach (ChildObject modelChildObject in viewModel.ChildObjects) { ChildObject childToUpdate = ParentObject.ChildObject.Where(a => a.ID == modelChildObject.ID).First(); childToUpdate.Name = modelChildObject.Name; } } This seems to work fine. My question to you good folks: Is there correct way to do this? I tried following the suggestion for making a custom model binder per the blog link I posted above but it didn't work (there was an issue with reflection) and I needed to get something going ASAP. • C++ Mutexes and STL Lists Across Subclasses

  I am currently writing a multi-threaded C++ server using Poco and am now at the point where I need to be keeping information on which users are connected, how many connections each of them have, and given it is a proxy server, where each of those connections are proxying through to. For this purpose I have created a ServerStats class which holds an STL list of ServerUser objects. The ServerStats class includes functions which can add and remove objects from the list as well as find a user in the list an return a pointer to them so I can access member functions within any given ServerUser object in the list. The ServerUser class contains an STL list of ServerConnection objects and much like the ServerStats class it contains functions to add, remove and find elements within this list. Now all of the above is working but I am now trying to make it threadsafe. I have defined a Poco::FastMutex within the ServerStats class and can lock/unlock this in the appropriate places so that STL containers are not modified at the same time as being searched for example. • Atomikos with Hibernate will exhaust db connections

  I am testing an application (Spring 2.5, Hibernate 3.5.0 Beta, Atomikos 3.6.2, and Postgreql 8.4.2) with the configuration for the DAO listed below. The problem that I see is that the pool of 10 connections with the dataSource gets exhausted after the 10's transaction. I know 'hibernate.connection.release_mode' has no effect unless the session is obtained with openSession rather then using a contextual session. I am wandering if anyone has found a way to instruct atomikos code to release connections after any transaction.   I've written a ListActivity for Android 2.1 which is used to display a list of event categories. As the user selects a category, the program calls a web service to retrieve a list of sub-events. For example, a top level event might be "soccer" and when the user selects this the web service would return various soccer associations (e.g. "english", "french", "german", etc.) and display them in a new list. The following code seems to work occasionally, however sometimes the call to the service (in EventsListTask) fails because the serviceBinder is null. • Two-way databinding of a custom templated asp.net control

  I hate long code snippets and I'm sorry about this one, but it turns out that this asp.net stuff can't get much shorter and it's so specific that I haven't been able to generalize it without a full code listing. I just want simple two-way, declarative, edit-only databinding to a single instance of an object. Not a list of objects of a type with a bunch of NotImplementedExceptions for Add, Delete, and Select, but just a single view-state persisted object. This is certainly something that can be done but I've struggled with an implementation for years. This newest, closest implementation was inspired by this article from 4-Guys-From-Rolla. Unfortunately, after implementing, I'm getting the following error and I don't know what I'm missing: System.InvalidOperationException: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. If I don't use Bind(), and only use Eval() functionality, it works. In that way, the error is especially confusing. Update: Actually, using Eval() does NOT work, but using <%# Container.SampleString %> works. However, Eval("SampleString") gives the same error. That leads me back to this article I found earlier but had discarded. Now I believe it might be related, though I haven't cracked it yet ... • Am I crazy? (How) should I create a jQuery content editor?

  Ok, so I created a CMS mainly aimed at Primary Schools. It's getting fairly popular in New Zealand but the one thing I hate with a passion is the largely bad quality of in browser WYSIWYG editors. I've been using KTML (made by InterAKT which was purchased by Adobe a few years ago). In my opinion this editor does a lot of great things (image editing/management, thumbnailing and pretty good content editing). Unfortunately time has had its nasty way with this product and new browsers are beginning to break features and generally degrade the performance of this tool. It's also quite scary basing my livelihood on a defunct product! I've been hunting, in fact I regularly hunt around to see if anything has changed in the WYSIWYG arena. The closest thing I've seen that excites me is the WYSIHAT framework, but they've decided to ignore a pretty relevant editing paradigm which I'm going to outline below. This is the idea for my proposed editor, and I don't know of any existing products that can do this properly: Right, so the traditional model for editing let's say a Page in a CMS is to log into a 'back end' and click edit on the page. This will then load another screen with the editor in it and perhaps a few other fields. More advanced CMS's will maybe have several editing boxes that are for different portions of the page. Anyway, the big problem with this way of doing things is that the user is editing a document outside of the final context it will appear in. In the simplest terms, this means the page template. Many things can be wrong, e.g. the with of the editing area might be different to the width of the actual template area. The height is nearly always fixed because existing editors always seem to use IFRAMES for backward compatibility. And there are plenty of other beefs which I'm sure you're quite aware of if you're in this development area. Here's my editor utopia: You click 'Edit Page': The actual page (with its actual template) displays. Portions of the page have been marked as editable via a class name. You click on one of these areas (in my case it'd just be the big 'body' area in the middle of the template) and a editing bar drops down from the top of the screen with all your standard controls (bold, italic, insert image etc...). Iframes are never used, instead we rely on setting contentEditable to true on the DIV's in question. Firefox 2 and IE6 can go away, let's move on. You can edit the page knowing exactly how it will look when you save it. Because all the styles for this template are loaded, your headings will look correct, everything will be just dandy. Is this such a radical concept? Why are we still content with TinyMCE and that other editor that is too embarrassing to use because it sounds like a swear word!? Let's face the facts: I'm a JavaScript novice. I did once play around in this area using the Javascript Anthology from SitePoint as a guide. It was quite a cool learning experience, but they of course used the IFRAME to make their lives easier. I tried to go a different route and just use contentEditable and even tried to sidestep the native content editing routines (execCommand) and instead wrote my own. They kind of worked but there were always issues. Now we have jQuery, and a few libraries that abstract things like IE's lack of Range support. I'm wondering, am I crazy, or is it actually a good idea to try and build an editor around this editing paradigm using jQuery and relevant plugins to make the job easier? My actual questions: Where would you start? What plugins do you know of that would help the most? Is it worth it, or is there a magical project that already exists that I should join in on? What are the biggest hurdles to overcome in a project like this? Am I crazy? I hope this question has been posted on the right board. I figured it is a technical question as I'm wanting to know specific hurdles and pitfalls to watch out for and also if it is technically feasible with todays technology.
