• Help with redirection for .com, .net and .org domains: redirecting all of them to .com.

  Hi all! I need help with some rules in ISAPI_Rewrite in my installation. (If you only know mod_rewrite could be a good help to, so I would adapt the configuration). I'm going to be very honest about my needs. I need to do this configuration in the next few hours, and don't have time right now understand everything about rewrites, regular expressions and such. I really think you can help me, if I had more reputation I would even set up a bounty... :( In fact, I believe that what I need is simple: I have a .com domain. The main url of my website is going to be http:// www.mainurl.com/. I have two other domains: mainurl.net and mainurl.org. What I need (in isapi-rewrite 2, the config made with httpd.ini file in root file) is: everytime someone writes mainurl.net in browser it becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/ 301 redirect. If it's written without www becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/. If someone writes mainurl.net/about it becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/about/. Redirect always the .com, the www part and the final slash /. Thanks in advance you all!

• Apache and backslashes in mod_rewrite

  I want to process all incoming requests through a single script (index.php in web-root). So, the following is what currently happens: http://localhost/foo/bar/baz Is routed by Apache (through .htaccess) to: http://localhost/index.php?url=foo/bar/baz This works well, however, in Firefox I am able to do this: http://localhost/foo\ - notice the backslash. And Apache, instead of doing: /index.php?url=foo\ Emits a generic error page saying: Object not found! The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. • Universal Authentication to Google Data API?

  Hey, I want to be able to have say 10 admin users store all their documents on google docs for a domain ('http://docs.google.com/a/domain.com'), and have everyone else be able to view them through 'domain.com/documents'. I'm just not certain how the whole authentication thing works in that case. Should I use OAuth? Or could I just use ClientLogin for say the root/global admin, and anytime someone goes to the site, they login as that? That works for personal docs, but it doesn't seem to be working for Google Apps. I would like it so the user has no idea they're accessing google docs, so I don't want them to have to say "Yes, Authenticate this App with Google", as seen in this Doclist Manager App. The app is basically: Admin stores a bunch of forms and documents User uses form and views documents the admin has posted ... so there's no need to access the user's Google Docs. But it seems like AuthSub and OAuth are addressing that instead... Thanks for the tips.

• Authlogic, logout, credential capture and security

  Ok this is something weird. I got authlogic-oid installed in my rails app today. Everything works perfectly fine but for one small nuisance. This is what i did: I first register with my google openid. Successful login, redirection and my email, along with my correct openid is stored in my database. I am happy that everything worked fine! Now when i logout, my rails app as usual destroys the session and redirects me back to my root url where i can login again. Now if i try to login it still remembers my last login id. Not a big issue as i can always "Sign in as a different user" but i am wondering if there is anyway to not only logout from my app but also logout from google. I noticed the same with stack overflow's openid authentication system. Why am i so bothered about this, you may ask. But is it not a bad idea if your web apps end user, who happens to be in a cyber cafe, thinks he has logged out from your app and hence from his google account only to realize later that his google account had got hacked by some unworthy loser who just happened to notice that the one before him had not logged out from google and say.. changed his password!! Should i be paranoid? Isn't this a major security lapse while implementing the openid spec? Probably today someone can give me a workaround for this issue and the question is solved for me. But what about the others who have implemented openid in their apps and not implemented a workaround?

• htaccess mod_rewrite check file/directory existence, else rewrite?

  I have a very heavy htaccess mod_rewrite file that runs my application. As we sometimes take over legacy websites, I sometimes need to support old urls to old files, where my application processes everything post htaccess. My ultimate goal is to have a 'Demilitarized Zone' for old file structures, and use mod rewrite to check for existence there before pushing to the application. This is pretty easy to do with files, by using: RewriteCond %{IS_SUBREQ} true RewriteRule .* - [L] RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STATUS} 200 RewriteRule .* - [L] RewriteCond Public/DMZ/$1 -F [OR] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ Public/DMZ/$1 [QSA,L] This allows pseudo support for relative urls by not hardcoding my base path (I cant assume I will ever be deployed in document root) anywhere and using subrequests to check for file existence. Works fine if you know the file name, ie http://domain.com/path/to/app/legacyfolder/index.html However, my legacy urls are typically http://domain.com/path/to/app/legacyfolder/ Mod_Rewrite will allow me to check for this by using -d, but it needs the complete path to the directory, ie RewriteCond Public/DMZ/$1 -F [OR] RewriteCond /var/www/path/to/app/Public/DMZ/$1 -d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ Public/DMZ/$1 [QSA,L] I want to avoid the hardcoded base path. I can see one possible solutions here, somehow determining my path and attaching it to a variable [E=name:var] and using it in the condition. Another option is using -U, but the tricky part is stopping it from hijacking every other request when they should flow through, since -U is really easy to satisfy. Any implementation that allows me to existence check a directory is more than welcome. I am not interested in using RewriteBase, as that requires my htaccess to have a hardcoded base path.

• View Controller's viewDidLoad method finishing before applicationDidFinishLaunching

  I'm creating a fairly complex iPhone app using Core Data. Up until now, things have been working fine. As the app has been getting more complex, however, a new problem has come up: the first view controller is finishing its viewDidLoad method before the AppDelegate gets even halfway through its applicationDidFinishLaunching method. The view controller is not the root, which is a tab bar controller. The VC in question is the one for the default selected tab on the tab bar. It's getting instantiated by IB. Nothing like this has occurred before in my experience, and it's throwing off the important initialization I'm doing in the AppDelegate (getting objects from Core Data and preparing them for use) . Furthermore, it's intermittent -- sometimes the delegate does finish first. Has anyone else noticed a difficulty like this? Any sample code that deals with such an issue? I suppose that the answer is to make the VC load the data that the AppDelegate is getting ready only when the AppDelegate sends a message that it's ready. I'm a bit concerned that this is adding something that will just end up biting me in the butt later on.

• Checking for corrupt war file after mvn install

  Is there a maven command that will verify that a WAR file is valid and not corrupt? Or is there some other program or technique to validate zip files? I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, so a linux solution is preferred. On occasion, I end up with a corrupt WAR file after doing mvn clean and mvn install on my project. If I extract the WAR file to my hard drive, an error occurs and the file doesn't get extracted. I believe this happens when my system is in a low-memory condition, because this tends to happen only when lots of memory is in use. After rebooting, doing a mvn install always gives a valid WAR file. Because this happens infrequently, I don't typically test the file by uncompressing it. I transfer the 50MB war file to my server and then restart Jetty with it as the root webapp. But when the file is corrupt, I get a java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid block type error. So I'm looking for a quick way to validate the file as soon as mvn install is completed. Is there a maven command to do this? Any other ideas?

• Odd difference between Python 2.5 and Python 2.6 on MacOS 10.6 using ctypes and libproc proc_pidinfo

  I'm trying to determine the current working directory of a process given its PID. The command-line utility lsof does something similar. I have started rmiregistry from the command line. Is there an equivalent of LocateRegistry.createRegistry(int)? • ASPX FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage function is not working anymore

  Here is my issue. I have an ASPX web site and I have code in there to redirect from the login page with the call to "FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(username, false);" This sends the user from the root website folder to 'website/Admin/'. I have a 'default.aspx' page in 'website/Admin/' and the call to redirect works on a previous version of the website we have running currently, but the one that I am updating on a separate test server is not working. It gives me the error "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed." I have this in the config file: <authorization> <allow users="*" /> </authorization> under the "authentication" option and... <location path="Admin"> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?" /> </authorization> </system.web> </location> for the location of Admin. Also, there is no difference in the code between the web.config, Login.aspx, or the default.aspx files on the current server and the one on the test server, so I am confused as to why the redirect will not work on both. It even works in the Visual Studio server environment, for which the code is also identical. Any suggestions and help is appreciated.

• popViewController does not autorotate back to allowed orientation

  I have two UIViewControllers, "A" and "B", where "A" overrides the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation to return YES for UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait, and "B" returns YES for all orientations. In my example "A" is the root navigation view controller, and I then use pushViewController for "B". After that I rotate the device into landscape, which successfully autorotates "B", then I pop "B" (back button or via popViewController) to return to "A". When targetting iPhone OS 3.1.3, "A" returns to the portrait orientation as expected. When targetting iPhone OS 3.2, I have two side-effects: "A" is displayed in landscape. The navigation bar does not update even though "A" is now displayed. The navigation bar still shows the items for "B". Only after trying to go back/pop one more time will the navigation bar animate to show the items for "A". If I instead attempt to push "B" again and go back, I have to pop twice before the navigation bar animates to show the items for "A". During these "intermediate pops" the view for "A" remains displayed. While researching this issue, I have seen other answers suggesting performing the rotation manually ([UIDevice setOrientation] or via a tranformation), however this does not help understand what the problem is, especially why it behaves differently between the two OS's. So my question is: must all of my UIViewControllers on the UINavigationController stack support exactly the same orientations going forward? And if not, then is there something that I need to do to make it behave as it did for OS 3.1.3?

• Debugging SQL Server Slowness: Same Database, Different Servers

  For a while now we've been having anecdotal slowness on our newly-minted (VMWare-based) SQL Server 2005 database servers. Recently the problem has come to a head and I've started looking for the root cause of the issue. Here's the weird part: on the stored procedure that I'm using as a performance test case, I get a 30x difference in the execution speed depending on which DB server I run it on. This is using the same database (mdf) and log (ldf) files, detached, copied, and reattached from the slow server to the fast one. This doesn't appear to be a (virtualized) hardware issue: he slow server has 4x the CPU capacity and 2x the memory as the fast one. As best as I can tell, the problem lies in the environment/configuration of the servers (either operating system or SQL Server installation). However, I've checked a bunch of variables (SQL Server config options, running services, disk fragmentation) and found nothing that has made a difference in testing. What things should I be looking at? What tools can I use to investigate why this is happening?

• Nhibernate: distinct results in second level Collection

  I have an object model like this: class EntityA { ... IList<EntityB> BList; ... } class EntityB { ... IList<EntityC> CList; } I have to fetch all the colelctions (Blist in EntityA and CList in EntityB), because if they all will be needed to make some operations, if i don't eager load them i will have the select n+1 problem. So the query was this: select a from EntityA a left join fetch a.BList b left join fetch b.CList c The fist problem i faced with this query, was the return of duplicates from the DB, i had EntityA duplicates, because of the left join fetch with BList. A quick read through the hibernate documentation and there were some solutions, first i tried the distinct keyword that supposelly wouldn't replicate the SQL distinct keyword except in some cases, maybe this was one of those cases because i had a SQL error saying that i cannot select distict text columns (column [Observations] in EntityA table). So i used one of the other solutions: query.SetResultTransformer(new DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer()); This worked fine. But the result of the operations were still not passing the tests. I checked further and i found out that now there were duplicates of EntityB, because of the left join fetch with CList. The question is, how can i use the distinct in a second level collection? I searched and i only find solutions for the root entity's direct child collection, but never for the second level child collections... Thank you for your time

• package issue with ubuntu 10.10 and passenger requirements

  I'm trying to get Passenger working with Ubuntu 10.10 and I'm running into a problem. It seems that the passenger installer is not recognizing the virtual package. I'm getting this error: Code: passenger-install-apache2-module ... * OpenSSL support for Ruby... not found ... And then it says, run this: * To install OpenSSL support for Ruby: Please run apt-get install libopenssl-ruby as root. When I run the above command, it refers to the libruby package: sudo apt-get install libopenssl-ruby Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Note, selecting 'libruby' instead of 'libopenssl-ruby' libruby is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 43 not upgraded. When I look at the details for libruby, it says it provides libopenssl-ruby: Code: Provides: libbigdecimal-ruby, libcurses-ruby, libdbm-ruby, libdl-ruby, libdrb-ruby, liberb-ruby, libgdbm-ruby, libiconv-ruby, libopenssl-ruby, libpty-ruby, libracc-runtime-ruby, libreadline-ruby, librexml-ruby, libsdbm-ruby, libstrscan-ruby, libsyslog-ruby, libtest-unit-ruby, libwebrick-ruby, libxmlrpc-ruby, libyaml-ruby, libzlib-ruby And when I rerun the passenger installer, it gives the same error: Code: passenger-install-apache2-module ... * OpenSSL support for Ruby... not found ... • ntpd on Fedora Core 6 with high negative time rest values

  The basic problem is we have a FC6 server instance running on a virtual machine, and the system time seems to have been slowly varying until it is now causing a problem. The server runs 24/7 and has been up for 155 days. It has been changed to show GMT, and reports the time as (example) 00:15:15 GMT whereas the actual time is 00:00:00 GMT. This is an offset of 915 seconds. selinux has been changed to 'setenforce 0' for testing and I am running as root. I stop the ntpd service and change the time in System|Administration|Date & Time. The time still shows the same with 'date' in bash. There are no error logs. I change the date with 'date --set' in bash. The response confirms the changed date. I run 'date' and the incorrect date is shown. There are no error logs. I start the ntpd service and /var/log/messages shows success with 'time reset -915.720139s'. The date remains unchanged. ntpq -p shows three three time servers all have offsets of around -915 seconds. I stop ntpd service and try 'ntpd -gqx' and get the same result as above - success, but a large negative time reset. I've tried varying combinations of the above, and a few more settings in System|Administration|Date & Time - no change. I just need to reset the system time to GMT. No offset. But I can't wait for ntpd to slew the time over the next few weeks. Any advice is welcome, cheers! Sure this shouldn't be this difficult... Mark...

• pushViewController Not Displaying UIView/Nib with tabbar and nav bar

  I'm relatively new to objective c but not programming and am stuck with my iphone app. I created a nav based app with both a navbar and a tab bar controller. I set the tab bar as the root controller. I'm able to switch between each tab without any issues to various UIViews and UITableViews. My issue is that in one of my UITableViews that I call from the TabBarController, didSelectRowAtIndexPath function is suppose to display a new UIView. The below code does not give any errors and runs fine but does not show the new Nib. if(newViewController == nil) { NSLog(@"yes nil"); BookViewController *aNewViewController = [[BookViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"BookOptionView" bundle:nil]; self.newViewController = aNewViewController; [aNewViewController release]; } BookAppDelegate *delegate = (BookAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [delegate.appNavBar pushViewController:newViewController animated:YES]; Now when I do the below, it works fine but it gets rid of the nav and tab which I'm assuming because its a modal call instead of pushing the view controller.   I am trying to get Undo/Redo keyboard shortcuts working in my WPF application (I have my own custom functionality implemented using the Command Pattern). It seems, however, that the TextBox control is intercepting my "Undo" RoutedUICommand. What is the simplest way to disable this so that I can catch Ctrl+Z at the root of my UI tree? I would like to avoid putting a ton of code/XAML into each TextBox in my application if possible.
