  • Abstract classes and Pod::Coverage

    - by Ken Williams
    I've recently started to try to use Dist::Zilla for maintaining Path::Class. I added the [PodCoverageTests] plugin, and it's reporting some failures in the Path::Class::Entity class, which is the abstract base class for Path::Class::File and Path::Class::Dir. What I'd like is some way to tell the testing code that Entity doesn't need docs, but its two derived classes do - even though the methods are only defined in the parent class. Anyone know some way to do that?

  • Will this class cause memory leaks, and does anything need disposing of? (asp.net vb)

    - by Phil
    Here is the class to export a gridview to an excel sheet: Imports System Imports System.Data Imports System.Configuration Imports System.IO Imports System.Web Imports System.Web.Security Imports System.Web.UI Imports System.Web.UI.WebControls Imports System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts Imports System.Web.UI.HtmlControls Namespace ExcelExport Public NotInheritable Class GVExportUtil Private Sub New() End Sub Public Shared Sub Export(ByVal fileName As String, ByVal gv As GridView) HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear() HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", String.Format("attachment; filename={0}", fileName)) HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel" Dim sw As StringWriter = New StringWriter Dim htw As HtmlTextWriter = New HtmlTextWriter(sw) Dim table As Table = New Table table.GridLines = GridLines.Vertical If (Not (gv.HeaderRow) Is Nothing) Then GVExportUtil.PrepareControlForExport(gv.HeaderRow) table.Rows.Add(gv.HeaderRow) End If For Each row As GridViewRow In gv.Rows GVExportUtil.PrepareControlForExport(row) table.Rows.Add(row) Next If (Not (gv.FooterRow) Is Nothing) Then GVExportUtil.PrepareControlForExport(gv.FooterRow) table.Rows.Add(gv.FooterRow) End If table.RenderControl(htw) HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(sw.ToString) HttpContext.Current.Response.End() End Sub Private Shared Sub PrepareControlForExport(ByVal control As Control) Dim i As Integer = 0 Do While (i < control.Controls.Count) Dim current As Control = control.Controls(i) If (TypeOf current Is LinkButton) Then control.Controls.Remove(current) control.Controls.AddAt(i, New LiteralControl(CType(current, LinkButton).Text)) ElseIf (TypeOf current Is ImageButton) Then control.Controls.Remove(current) control.Controls.AddAt(i, New LiteralControl(CType(current, ImageButton).AlternateText)) ElseIf (TypeOf current Is HyperLink) Then control.Controls.Remove(current) control.Controls.AddAt(i, New LiteralControl(CType(current, HyperLink).Text)) ElseIf (TypeOf current Is DropDownList) Then control.Controls.Remove(current) control.Controls.AddAt(i, New LiteralControl(CType(current, DropDownList).SelectedItem.Text)) ElseIf (TypeOf current Is CheckBox) Then control.Controls.Remove(current) control.Controls.AddAt(i, New LiteralControl(CType(current, CheckBox).Checked)) End If If current.HasControls Then GVExportUtil.PrepareControlForExport(current) End If i = (i + 1) Loop End Sub End Class End Namespace Will this class cause memory leaks? And does anything here need to be disposed of? The code is working but I am getting the app pool falling over frequently when it is in use. Thanks.

  • What common routines do you put in your Program.cs for C#

    - by Rick
    I'm interested in any common routine/procedures/methods that you might use in you Program.cs when creating a .NET project. For instance I commonly use the following code in my desktop applications to allow easy upgrades, single instance execution and friendly and simple reporting of uncaught system application errors. using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Threading; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace NameoftheAssembly { internal static class Program { /// <summary> /// The main entry point for the application. Modified to check for another running instance on the same computer and to catch and report any errors not explicitly checked for. /// </summary> [STAThread] private static void Main() { //for upgrading and installing newer versions string[] arguments = Environment.GetCommandLineArgs(); if (arguments.GetUpperBound(0) > 0) { foreach (string argument in arguments) { if (argument.Split('=')[0].ToLower().Equals("/u")) { string guid = argument.Split('=')[1]; string path = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.System); var si = new ProcessStartInfo(path + "\\msiexec.exe", "/x" + guid); Process.Start(si); Application.Exit(); } } //end of upgrade } else { bool onlyInstance = false; var mutex = new Mutex(true, Application.ProductName, out onlyInstance); if (!onlyInstance) { MessageBox.Show("Another copy of this running"); return; } AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += CurrentDomain_UnhandledException; Application.ThreadException += ApplicationThreadException; Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new Form1()); } } private static void CurrentDomain_UnhandledException(object sender, UnhandledExceptionEventArgs e) { try { var ex = (Exception) e.ExceptionObject; MessageBox.Show("Whoops! Please contact the developers with the following" + " information:\n\n" + ex.Message + ex.StackTrace, " Fatal Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Stop); } catch (Exception) { //do nothing - Another Exception! Wow not a good thing. } finally { Application.Exit(); } } public static void ApplicationThreadException(object sender, ThreadExceptionEventArgs e) { try { MessageBox.Show("Whoops! Please contact the developers with the following" + " information:\n\n" + e.Exception.Message + e.Exception.StackTrace, " Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Stop); } catch (Exception) { //do nothing - Another Exception! Wow not a good thing. } } } } I find these routines to be very helpful. What methods have you found helpful in Program.cs?

  • Getting the time interval between typing characters in a TextBox, in C#

    - by sama
    I have a form that has a TextBox and a Label and I want to get the time of the first character entered in the textbox. Then if the user enters more than ten charcaters, the time between the first charcter entered and the tenth charcter entered is displayed in the label. Can any one help me please? I'm using C# Here is the code but I cannot complete it and I have many things that need to be written but I don't know how to continue. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Threading; namespace n { public partial class Form1 : Form { int count=0; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void textBox1_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { DateTime t1 = new DateTime();// the time when entering the first charcter DateTime t2 = new DateTime(); t2 = System.DateTime.Now - t1; int index = textBox1.SelectionStart; Point p; p = textBox1.GetPositionFromCharIndex(index); Thread t = new Thread(counttext); t.Start(); label1.Text = "t2"; } private int counttext() { while (textBox1.Text.Length < 10) { count++; if (count == 10) return count; } } } }

  • runModalForWindow throttles http requests

    - by Nikita Rybak
    I have url connection, which normally works fine NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:delegate]; But when I create a modal window, no request ever receives response: [NSApp runModalForWindow:window]; If I comment this line out, thus creating a 'standard' window, everything works. I tried implementing all methods from NSURLConnectionDelegate, not a single of them called. I suspect this is something about 'run loops', but have little experience in this area. Does anybody have experience in this? Thank you

  • current transform being applied by canvas

    - by Allain Lalonde
    How can I determine the current transform that's being applied by an html5 canvas. It seems that it only supports two methods for dealing with transforms "transform", "setTransform" but I can't seem to discover the results of applying the transforms. Short of tracking them all myself and duplicating the the matrix mathematics that it must be doing natively, how can I figure out the current transform?

  • Customising log4j logging for sensitive data

    - by Xetius
    I have a class which contains sensitive information (Credit card info, phone numbers etc). I want to be able to pass this class to log4j, but have it obscure certain information. If I have a class UserInformation which has getPhoneNumber, getCreditCardNumber methods, how would I customise log4j or this class so that it will obscure the numbers correctly. I want the credit card number to be output as xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-1234 and the phone number to be output as xxxx-xxx-xxx given that these would be 1234-1234-1234-1234 and 1234-567-890 Thanks

  • How do I wait for a C# event to be raised?

    - by Evan Barkley
    I have a Sender class that sends a Message on a IChannel: public class MessageEventArgs : EventArgs { public Message Message { get; private set; } public MessageEventArgs(Message m) { Message = m; } } public interface IChannel { public event EventHandler<MessageEventArgs> MessageReceived; void Send(Message m); } public class Sender { public const int MaxWaitInMs = 5000; private IChannel _c = ...; public Message Send(Message m) { _c.Send(m); // wait for MaxWaitInMs to get an event from _c.MessageReceived // return the message or null if no message was received in response } } When we send messages, the IChannel sometimes gives a response depending on what kind of Message was sent by raising the MessageReceived event. The event arguments contain the message of interest. I want Sender.Send() method to wait for a short time to see if this event is raised. If so, I'll return its MessageEventArgs.Message property. If not, I return a null Message. How can I wait in this way? I'd prefer not to have do the threading legwork with ManualResetEvents and such, so sticking to regular events would be optimal for me.

  • Sort Outlook Inbox "Arrange By" | Switch between FROM and Conversation View

    - by DarkSprout
    Using VBA and a toolbar button, I'd like to be able to Switch between FROM and Conversation View, but I just work how to or find any code to do this. I tried the Sort Methods but, they only work in memory and don't re-sort the actual inbox. I use Conversation View for GMail style functionality with my Sent items BCC'd to myself, but want to switch to 'From' with all Groups Collapsed - so that I can find emails from certain people quickly. Any Ideas? With Thanks =|)arkSprout=

  • Consistent HashCode() and Equals() results, but inconsistent TreeMap.containsKey() result

    - by smessing
    I have the following object Node: private class Node implements Comparable<Node>(){ private String guid(); ... public boolean equals(Node o){ return (this == o); } public int hashCode(){ return guid.hashCode(); } ... } And I use it in the following TreeMap: TreeMap<Node, TreeSet<Edge>> nodes = new TreeMap<Node, TreeSet<Edge>>(); Now, the tree map is used in a class called Graph to store nodes currently in the graph, along with a set of their edges (from the class Edge). My problem is when I try to execute: public containsNode(n){ for (Node x : nodes.keySet()) { System.out.println("HASH CODE: "); System.out.print(x.hashCode() == n.hashCode()); System.out.println("EQUALS: "); System.out.print(x.equals(n)); System.out.println("CONTAINS: "); System.out.print(nodes.containsKey(n)); System.out.println("N: " + n); System.out.println("X: " + x); } } I sometimes get the following: HASHCODE: true EQUALS: true CONTAINS: false N: foo X: foo Anyone have an idea as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm still new to all this, so I apologize in advance if I'm overlooking something simple (I know hashCode() doesn't really matter for TreeMap, but I figured I'd include it).

  • Flex/Actionscript image display problem.

    - by IanH
    I'm trying to extend the Image class but hit a problem that I can't get past. I have a private image (img) that loads an image and a function that takes that image and copies it onto the parent. The debug function "copyit2" displays the image fine (so I know it's loaded OK). But the function "copyit" doesn't work - it just displays a white rectangle. I can't see how to make copyit work so that the original image is copied to the BitmapData and then subsequenty copied onto the parent? (The idea is to do some processing on the Bitmap data before it is displayed, although this isn't shown here to keep the example simple.) I suspect it is something to do with the security of loading images, but I'm loading it from the same server as the application is run from - so this shouldn't be a problem? Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Ian package zoomapackage { import flash.display.Bitmap; import flash.display.BitmapData; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.geom.Matrix; import flash.geom.Point; import flash.geom.Rectangle; import flash.net.*; import mx.controls.Image; import mx.events.FlexEvent; public dynamic class Zooma extends Image { private var img:Image; public function copyit():void { var imgObj:BitmapData = new BitmapData(img.content.width, img.content.height, false); imgObj.draw(img); var matrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); this.graphics.beginBitmapFill(imgObj, matrix, false,true); this.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, this.width , this.height); this.graphics.endFill(); } public function copyit2():void { this.source = img.source; } public function Zooma() { super(); img = new Image(); img.load("http://localhost/Koala.jpg"); } } }

  • Generic <T> how cast ?

    - by Kris-I
    Hi, I have a "Product" base class, some other classes "ProductBookDetail","ProductDVDDetail" inherit from this class. I use a ProductService class to make operation on these classes. But, I have to do some check depending of the type (ISBN for Book, languages for DVD). I'd like to know the best way to cast "productDetail" value, I receive in SaveOrupdate. I tried GetType() and cast with (ProductBookDetail)productDetail but that's not work. Thanks, var productDetail = new ProductDetailBook() { .... }; var service = IoC.Resolve<IProductServiceGeneric<ProductDetailBook>>(); service.SaveOrUpdate(productDetail); var productDetail = new ProductDetailDVD() { .... }; var service = IoC.Resolve<IProductServiceGeneric<ProductDetailDVD>>(); service.SaveOrUpdate(productDetail); public class ProductServiceGeneric<T> : IProductServiceGeneric<T> { private readonly ISession _session; private readonly IProductRepoGeneric<T> _repo; public ProductServiceGeneric() { _session = UnitOfWork.CurrentSession; _repo = IoC.Resolve<IProductRepoGeneric<T>>(); } public void SaveOrUpdate(T productDetail) { using (ITransaction tx = _session.BeginTransaction()) { //here i'd like ot know the type and access properties depending of the class _repo.SaveOrUpdate(productDetail); tx.Commit(); } } }

  • "no inclosing instance error " while getting top term frequencies for document from Lucene index

    - by Julia
    Hello ! I am trying to get the most occurring term frequencies for every particular document in Lucene index. I am trying to set the treshold of top occuring terms that I care about, maybe 20 However, I am getting the "no inclosing instance of type DisplayTermVectors is accessible" when calling Comparator... So to this function I pass vector of every document and max top terms i would like to know protected static Collection getTopTerms(TermFreqVector tfv, int maxTerms){ String[] terms = tfv.getTerms(); int[] tFreqs = tfv.getTermFrequencies(); List result = new ArrayList(terms.length); for (int i = 0; i < tFreqs.length; i++) { TermFrq tf = new TermFrq(terms[i], tFreqs[i]); result.add(tf); } Collections.sort(result, new FreqComparator()); if(maxTerms < result.size()){ result = result.subList(0, maxTerms); } return result; } /Class for objects to hold the term/freq pairs/ static class TermFrq{ private String term; private int freq; public TermFrq(String term,int freq){ this.term = term; this.freq = freq; } public String getTerm(){ return this.term; } public int getFreq(){ return this.freq; } } /*Comparator to compare the objects by the frequency*/ class FreqComparator implements Comparator{ public int compare(Object pair1, Object pair2){ int f1 = ((TermFrq)pair1).getFreq(); int f2 = ((TermFrq)pair2).getFreq(); if(f1 > f2) return 1; else if(f1 < f2) return -1; else return 0; } } Explanations and corrections i will very much appreciate, and also if someone else had experience with term frequency extraction and did it better way, I am opened to all suggestions! Please help!!!! Thanx!

  • How to maintain ComboBox.SelectedItem reference when DataSource is resorted?

    - by Dave
    This really seems like a bug to me, but perhaps some databinding gurus can enlighten me? (My WinForms databinding knowledge is quite limited.) I have a ComboBox bound to a sorted DataView. When the properties of the items in the DataView change such that items are resorted, the SelectedItem in my ComboBox does not keep in-sync. It seems to point to someplace completely random. Is this a bug, or am I missing something in my databinding? Here is a sample application that reproduces the problem. All you need is a Button and a ComboBox: public partial class Form1 : Form { private DataTable myData; public Form1() { this.InitializeComponent(); this.myData = new DataTable(); this.myData.Columns.Add("ID", typeof(int)); this.myData.Columns.Add("Name", typeof(string)); this.myData.Columns.Add("LastModified", typeof(DateTime)); this.myData.Rows.Add(1, "first", DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(-2)); this.myData.Rows.Add(2, "second", DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(-1)); this.myData.Rows.Add(3, "third", DateTime.Now); this.myData.DefaultView.Sort = "LastModified DESC"; this.comboBox1.DataSource = this.myData.DefaultView; this.comboBox1.ValueMember = "ID"; this.comboBox1.DisplayMember = "Name"; } private void saveStuffButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { DataRowView preUpdateSelectedItem = (DataRowView)this.comboBox1.SelectedItem; // OUTPUT: SelectedIndex = 0; SelectedItem.Name = third Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("SelectedIndex = {0:N0}; SelectedItem.Name = {1}", this.comboBox1.SelectedIndex, preUpdateSelectedItem["Name"])); this.myData.Rows[0]["LastModified"] = DateTime.Now; DataRowView postUpdateSelectedItem = (DataRowView)this.comboBox1.SelectedItem; // OUTPUT: SelectedIndex = 2; SelectedItem.Name = second Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("SelectedIndex = {0:N0}; SelectedItem.Name = {1}", this.comboBox1.SelectedIndex, postUpdateSelectedItem["Name"])); // FAIL! Debug.Assert(object.ReferenceEquals(preUpdateSelectedItem, postUpdateSelectedItem)); } }

  • Ensuring that all callbacks were completed before sending a new request through a DuplexChannel usin

    - by Etan
    I am experiencing some issues when using a Callback in a WCF project. First, the server invokes some function Foo on the client which then forwards the request to a Windows Forms GUI: GUI CLASS delegate void DoForward(); public void ForwardToGui() { if (this.cmdSomeButton.InvokeRequired) { DoForward d = new DoForward(ForwardToGui); this.Invoke(d); } else { Process(); // sets result variable in callback class as soon as done } } } CALLBACK CLASS object _m = new object(); private int _result; public int result { get { return _result; } set { _result = value; lock(_m) { Monitor.PulseAll(_m); } } } [OperationContract] public int Foo() { result = 0; Program.Gui.ForwardToGui(); lock(_m) { Monitor.Wait(_m, 30000); } return result; } The problem now is that the user should be able to cancel the process, which doesn't work properly: SERVER INTERFACE [OperationContract] void Cleanup(); GUI CLASS private void Gui_FormClosed(object sender, EventArgs e) { Program.callbackclass.nextAction = -1; // so that the monitor pulses and Foo() returns Program.server.Cleanup(); } The problem with this is that Cleanup() hangs. However, when I close the form when Process() is not running, it works properly. The source seems to be that the Cleanup() is called before the monitor pulses etc and therefore a new request is sent to the server before the last request from the server has not yet been responded. How can I solve this problem? How can I ensure before calling Cleanup() that no Foo() is currently being executed?

  • Calling a webservice in javascript

    - by user303052
    So, I am trying to make a firefox extension which will use a webservice. I was looking online to find a way to do this. I was wondering if someone could explain what the following objects/methods do: service.useService(_, _); service.<`Service Name.callService(); If there is an alternative that does not include these objects, I would be happy to hear about it. Thank you very much

  • Are regexes really maintainable?

    - by Rich Bradshaw
    Any code I've seen that uses Regexes tends to use them as a black box: Put in string Magic Regex Get out string This doesn't seem a particularly good idea to use in production code, as even a small change can often result in a completely different regex. Apart from cases where the standard is permanent and unchanging, are regexes the way to do things, or is it better to try different methods?

  • C# Virtual method call in constructor - how to refactor?

    - by Cristi Diaconescu
    I have an abstract class for database-agnostic cursor actions. Derived from that, there are classes that implement the abstract methods for handling database-specific stuff. The problem is, the base class ctor needs to call an abstract method - when the ctor is called, it needs to initialize the database-specific cursor. I know why this shouldn't be done, I don't need that explanation! This is my first implementation, that obviously doesn't work - it's the textbook "wrong way" of doing it. The overridden method accesses a field from the derived class, which is not yet instantiated: public abstract class CursorReader { private readonly int m_rowCount; protected CursorReader() { m_rowCount = CreateCursor(sqlCmd); //virtual call ! } protected abstract int CreateCursor(string sqlCmd); } public class SqlCursorReader : CursorReader { private SqlConnection m_sqlConnection; public SqlCursorReader(string sqlCmd, SqlConnection sqlConnection) { m_sqlConnection = sqlConnection; //field initialized here } protected override int CreateCursor(string sqlCmd) { //uses not-yet-initialized member *m_sqlConnection* //so this throws a NullReferenceException var cursor = new CustomCursor(sqlCmd, m_sqlConnection); return cursor.Count(); } } I will follow up with an answer on my attempts to fix this...

  • Why does the entity framework need an ICollection for lazy loading?

    - by Akk
    I want to write a rich domain class such as public class Product { public IEnumerable<Photo> Photos {get; private set;} public void AddPhoto(){...} public void RemovePhoto(){...} } But the entity framework (V4 code first approach) requires an ICollection type for lazy loading! The above code no longer works as designed since clients can bypass the AddPhoto / RemovePhoto method and directly call the add method on ICollection. This is not good. public class Product { public ICollection<Photo> Photos {get; private set;} //Bad public void AddPhoto(){...} public void RemovePhoto(){...} } It's getting really frustrating trying to implement DDD with the EF4. Why did they choose the ICollection for lazy loading? How can i overcome this? Does NHibernate offer me a better DDD experience?

  • HorizontalFieldmanager overlay

    - by Dachmt
    Hi, I have a VerticalFieldManager that takes all my screen, and I want to put an HorizontalFieldmanager at the bottom of the screen (menu bar that appear and disappear like the WeatherEye menu bar) that overlay the VerticalFieldManager. Any idea? I think it's something with overwriting the paint or sublayout methods but I have no clue how to implement this... Thanks to Max, I have almost everything, but in my other post it resize the VerticalFieldManager instead of having the HorizontalFieldmanager overlaying it. Thank you!

  • Encrypt/ Secure communication Android app <-> REST webservice

    - by Ascorbin
    I want to create a backend for my android app with Tapestry5 and this http://code.google.com/p/t5-restful-webservices/ plugin. The app will communicate with the server by calling REST methods both for registered users (that would be easy to secure I guess) as well as unregistered users. Now of course I don't want people to just call that webservice from a browser. How can I make sure that only my app can make calls to this backend?
