• Linux: is it possible to sync two directories in real time ?

  Hi, i would like to sync some directory of an internal hard drive to external hard drive. When i write / modify a file of my internal hard drive, automatically the same file is copied to the external hard drive... and bye bye backup ;) Something like a RAID with external hard drive..   Hi I accidentally changed one parameter in Windows and it was crashed and restarted everytime I logon. I can't go with safe mode. Restoring to Known Good Configurations doesn't work too. Unfortunately I don't have system backup. Are there any ways to recover or edit the registry file from another OS or bootable Windows PE? Which tools can I use to edit? Many thanks!

  While shopping for an SSD I have noticed that some manufacturers promote their "Pro" models as the ones sporting ECC data protection. Those manufacturers do not mention ECC in their budget models descriptions. However, Wikipedia article on flash memory states that "NAND relies on ECC to compensate for bits that may spontaneously fail during normal device operation." So the question is does any SSD device use ECC behind the scenes for its normal operation and is that ECC "feature" just a marketing ploy?

• Cannot access client pc remotely due to time/date issue xp win2k3 environment

  When I run psexec to the user desktop (xp pro) I get "There is a time and/or date difference between the client and the server." I also get "access denied" when I run the at \clientname time /interactive "net time \server /set /y" command. I cannot access the machine from my win2k3 server's AD Users and Computers utilities. Is going to the machine the only way to remedy? Clarify: Going to the machine and doing the net time command works, but I want a remote solution please.

  I try command rsync -v --include-from=/path/to/list.lst /home/user /path/to/backup list.lst contains for example .gnupg/ .pki/ .gnome2/keyrings/ .mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarkbackups/ .mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarks.html .mozilla/firefox/.default/.db .mozilla/firefox/.default/.sqlite and i get error on all strings with * "failed: No such file or directory" When i use --files-from for this, i get error too. Can anybody help me use wildcards for this?

I do this by using ssh's port forwarding (-P 222 -L 873:myserver.com:873), however, I want to do this with just using the rsync command. Is that possible?

• Windows 7 removes boot camp drivers on reboot

  I'm installing boot camp on 64 bit windows 7 home premium from a leopard disc. During installation I get a couple of errors saying that some driver publishers are not registered or something and I install them anyway. After reboot windows tries to repair something and reboots again. When I finally log in, there is no boot camp any more. Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks btw, I'm using Macbook Pro 15 inch Santa Rosa (late 2007)

  I have a folder on the desktop which is about 1.6 GB in size. When I try to open it I get a message like this: The file or directory is corrupt or unreadable Fortunately, I have a backup of that folder so I want to get rid of this folder. If I try to delete it, it fails to delete however I can rename the folder, move it and do whatever except deletion. I've tried various methods but could not succeed. I am using Windows 8.1 Pro.

  I have Windows 8 (final, MSDN) on my Macbook Pro Retina. Windows 8's ongoing, continuous tantrum of insisting that it's on a tablet device is causing it to always have a touch keyboard 'icon' on the taskbar. The 'icon' is actually a toolbar and I can temporarily disable it by right clicking the taskbar and DE-selecting it. However, upon rebooting the system, it always insists on coming back and activating itself. How can I permanently disable the touch keyboard toolbar in the taskbar?

  I hear that Windows 8 Pro can use full disk encryption. I also understand that Win8 is targeting the "slate" / "tablet" form factor specifically. But all my previous experience with BitLocker requires you to put in some kind of PIN or password at boot time -- how can I do this without a (hardware) keyboard? This preview of an upcoming Win8 tablet mentions BitLocker but doesn't address the PIN issue. Am I missing something?

  Hi, I've created a form in a PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro. When empy, I want to use it as a template which the user opens, fills in, and saves as a copy to preserve the blank state of the template. Here's the trick : I found both ways to make the document read only - the user can't save the form value, only print them make the document writeable, but in this case the document acting as a template can be modified too.   i created a .bat script to perform daily folder compression. it is working fine when i double click the .bat file. However, it doesnt work when i include it in window scheduler. Below is the script: rem **************************** rem ** To create back up file ** rem **************************** "C:\Program Files\WinZip\WINZIP32.EXE" -a -r -p "E:\Backup\Daily\sst.zip" "P:\SST\*.*" When i run it via window scheduler, the status is always "running" but nothing is generated.
