• Why is my code slower using #import "progid:typelib" than using "MFC Class From TypeLib"?

  I am writing an automation client in Visual C++ with MFC. If I right-click on my solution » Add » Class, I have the option to select MFC Class From TypeLib. Selecting this option generates source/header files for all interfaces. This allows me to write code such as: #include "CApplication.h" #include "CDocument.h" // ... connect to automation server ... CApplication *myApp = new CApplication(pDisp); CDocument myDoc = myApp->get_ActiveDocument(); Using this method, my benchmarking function that makes about 12000 automation calls takes 1 second. Meanwhile, the following code: #import "progid:Library.Application" Library::IApplicationPtr myApp; // ... connect to automation server ... Library::IDocumentPtr myDoc = myApp->GetActiveDocument(); takes about 2.4 seconds for the same benchmark. I assume the smart-pointer implementation is slowing me down, but I don't know why. Even worse, I'm not sure how to use #import construct to achieve the speeds that the first method yields. Is this possible? How or why not? Thanks for your time!

• after .htaccess url rewrite, cannot perform logoff in some of the url rewrited page

  Recently, I was doing .htaccess url rewrite, make all my php url into html, in some page, the logout button wont work properly. for example, in page ‘quotedetails/Q9999.html’ (rewrited from ‘quotedetails.php?quoteID=Q9999'), when I click logout button in this page, it wont do the trick, but when i use the old php url of this page, it works again, other rewrited pages like index.html (index.php), search.html(search.php), all works perfectly. I use firebug to debug, after I click the logout button, it stays in the same page without redirect me to the index.html, but I saw the the ‘logoff’ params has been passed through, but just dont let me logout and redirect to index page. I’ve changed all the relavent file path to absolute path, still no luck…..help please. I’ve also noticed from firebug, that page cannot get the redirect ‘location’ as I tried in other pages, their response headers come with ‘location: index.html’, but in that no-workin-page, there is no such line called ‘location: index.html’ in its response headers. • fgets in c don't return a portion of an string

• How to have current page selection using inludes navigation

  I am using php includes to limit redundancy on my pages, how can I have my navigation have the current page selected with say a certain color for the HOME button when my navigation is called from a header.php file. If i were to say to add a "active" class to the home.php item and add a style so it looked different, that would happen across the board for all my pages, which is why I am using includes in the first place, how can I have one header.php file with my navigation, that also allows each page the ability to show the current page you are on reflected in the navigation?   Hy guys, i'm developing a scripting engine with flex and bison and now i'm implementing the eval and load functions for this language. Well, it does but when the string (loaded from a file or directly evaluated) is finished, i get a sigsegv : Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0xb7f2b801 in yylex () at src/lexer.cpp:1658 1658 if ( YY_CURRENT_BUFFER_LVALUE->yy_buffer_status == YY_BUFFER_NEW ) As you may notice, the sigsegv is generated by the flex/bison code, not mine ... any hints, or at least any example on how to implement those kind of functions? PS: I've succesfully implemented the include directive, but i need eval and load to work not at parsing time but execution time (kind of PHP's include/require directives).

  I've just spent the last half semester at Uni learning python. I've really enjoyed it, and was hoping for a few tips on how to write more 'pythonic' code. • Playing video and audio in iPhone not working...

  So we have buttons linked up to display images/videos/audio on click depending on a check we do earlier. That part works fine. It knows which one to play, however, when we click the buttons for video and audio, nothing happens. The image one works fine. The video and audio are being taken for a URL online, they are not local, but everywhere said this was still possible.   I downloaded the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone and I wrote a simple application to make a first test of the emulator. In this application I have only a button with the property Content binded to a string called ButtonText and with the property Background binded to a SolidColorBrush named FillColor.   I am stuck with an issue with IIS 7.0. I need someone's help to find resolution on this, as this is very urgent requirement for us. Scenario I am trying to host the service in my server (Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7.0) and my client is running in the XP machine with IIS 5.1. Few of my request sent from client get successful response and for few request I am getting the below exception in Visual studio when I try to debug. Exception in Visual studio 2010 An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See the server logs for more details. When referred to the server event viewer log I got the below events(Application error and System warning) during the above exception. Under System logs - Warning A process serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '5372'. The data field contains the error number. • Generating two thumbnails from the same image in Django

  Hello, this seems like quite an easy problem but I can't figure out what is going on here. Basically, what I'd like to do is create two different thumbnails from one image on a Django model. What ends up happening is that it seems to be looping and recreating the same image (while appending an underscore to it each time) until it throws up an error that the filename is to big. • Organizing Eager Queries in an ObjectContext

  I am messing around with Entity Framework 3.5 SP1 and I am trying to find a cleaner way to do the below. I have an EF model and I am adding some Eager Loaded entities and i want them all to reside in the "Eager" property in the context. We originally were just changing the entity set name, but it seems a lot cleaner to just use a property, and keep the entity set name in tact. • RegisterClientScriptInclude doesn't work for some reason...

  Hey, I've spent at least 2 days trying anything and googling this...but for some reason I can't get RegisterClientScriptInclude to work the way everyone else has it working? First off, I am usting .NET 3.5 Ajax,...and I am including javascript in my partial page refreshes...using this code: ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this, typeof(Page), "MyClientCode", script, true); It works perfectly, my javascript code contained in the script variable is included every partial refresh. The javascript in script is actually quite extensive though, and I would like to store it in a .js file,..so logically I make a .js file and try to include it using RegisterClientScriptInclude ...however i can't for the life of my get this to work. here's the exact code: ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptInclude(this, typeof(Page), "mytestscript", "/js/testscript.js"); the testscript.js file is only included in FULL page refreshes...ie. when I load the page, or do a full postback....i can't get the file to be included in partial refreshes...have no idea why..when viewing the ajax POST in firebug I don't see a difference whether I include the file or not.... both of the ScriptManager Includes are being ran from the exact same place in "Page_Load"...so they should execute every partial refresh (but only the ScriptBlock does). anyways,..any help or ideas,..or further ways I can trouble shoot this problem, would be appreciated.   A problem that I stumbled upon recently, and, even though I solved it, I would like to hear your opinion of what correct/simple/adopted solution would be. I'm developing website using Django + python. When I run it on local machine with "python manage.py runserver", local address is http://127.0.0.1:8000/ by default. However, on production server my app has other url, with path - like "http://server.name/myproj/" I need to generate and use permanent urls. If I'm using {% url view params %}, I'm getting paths that are relative to / , since my urls.py contains this urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^(\d+)?$', 'myproj.myapp.views.index'), (r'^img/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/img' }), (r'^css/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/css' }), ) So far, I see 2 solutions: modify urls.py, include '/myproj/' in case of production run use request.build_absolute_uri() for creating link in views.py or pass some variable with 'hostname:port/path' in templates Are there prettier ways to deal with this problem? Thank you. Update: Well, the problem seems to be not in django, but in webfaction way to configure wsgi. Apache configuration for application with URL "hostname.com/myapp" contains the following line WSGIScriptAlias / /home/dreamiurg/webapps/pinfont/myproject.wsgi So, SCRIPT_NAME is empty, and the only solution I see is to get to mod_python or serve my application from root. Any ideas?

• What's the best NAME for "quick" Category you add to a file?

  So the other day I was sick of typing out repetetive addTarget:action:forControlEvents:s, and macros are only entertaining for so long, so I did this: @implementation UIControl (xx) -(void)addTarget:(id)target action:(SEL)action { [self addTarget:target action:action forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; } @end *and simply added it at the top of the .m file in question. Works great of course, but notice the "xx".* What's the best thing to NAME a "quick" Category like this? Annoyingly, it appears you can not leave the xx blank - it would then become an "Extension" (which, incidentally, I don't understand at all). I was thinking maybe: a single underscore the name of the class again identically "quick" perhaps the name of the class in this file (as in "quick extra routines for UIControl in CherryBomb") - so it would be UIControl(CherryBomb), ie, remind you that these extra routines are handy for CherryBomb "x" your or your company's initials (use the same "quick" Category name everywhere) "ThisTextNeverUsedAnywhere" By the way, I've been assuming that Categories only happen in the files that see them (CherryBomb.m in the example) - they do not from then on apply app-wide. ie they only apply where you include the header file (UIControl+NattyStuff) or in the "quick" case only in the file to which one adds the text.   I have a small assignment in C. I am trying to create an array of pointers to a structure. My question is how can I initialize each pointer to NULL?   Hi All, I am writing an application to play the youtube videos using streaming. First method: I am getting the RTSP URL to the video using GData APIs. Here is the code to play the RTSP url. VideoView mVideoView = new VideoView(this); setContentView(mVideoView); mVideoView.setVideoURI(Uri.parse("rtsp://rtsp2.youtube.com/CiILENy73wIaGQkDwpjrUxOWQBMYESARFEgGUgZ2aWRlb3MM/0/0/0/video.3gp")); mVideoView.start(); But it throws error on both G1 device and emulator (Emulator has some firewall problem as per mailing list) Here is the error message ERROR/PlayerDriver(35): Command PLAYER_INIT completed with an error or info PVMFFailure Second method: A hack way to get the path of 3gp file from http://www.youtube.com/get_video?v=&t=<&<.. After getting the file path and I can call setVideoURI and it plays fine. But it is a hack way to achieve the requirement. I have checked the Youtube App also, it also does the hack way to play the youtube url.(Checked with logcat) I have tried changing from VideoView to MediaPlayer but no change in the error. Is there a "Clean" way to do this? Please let me know your thoughts.

• Rackspace Cloud rewrite jpg causes Session reset

  This may be the .Net version of this question. I have an image script with the following: ... Response.WriteFile(filename); Response.End(); I am rewriting .jpg files using the following rewrite rule in web.config: <rule name="Image Redirect" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="^product-images/(.*).jpg" /> <conditions> <add input="{REQUEST_URI}" pattern="\.(jp?g|JP?G)$" /> </conditions> <action type="Redirect" redirectType="SeeOther" url="/product-images/ProductImage.aspx?path=product-images/{tolower:{R:1}}.jpg" /> </rule> It basically just rewrites the image path into a query parameter. The problem is that (intermittently of course) Mosso returns a new Asp Session cookie which breaks the whole world. Directly accessing a static .jpg file does not cause this problem. Directly accessing the image script does not cause it either. Only rewriting a .jpg file to the .aspx script causes the Session loss. Things I have tried (From the Rackspace doc How can I bypass the cache?) I added Private cacheability to the image script itself: Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Private); I tried adding these cache-disabling nodes to web.config: <staticContent> <clientCache cacheControlMode="DisableCache" /> </staticContent> and <httpProtocol> <customHeaders> <add name="Cache-Control private" value="Cache-Control private" </customHeaders> </httpProtocol> The Solution I need The browser cache cannot be disabled. This means potential solutions involving Cache.SetNoStore() or HttpCacheability.NoCache will not work.

• Exposed onsite vs IFD deployments for MS Dynamics CRM

  I'm working for the first time on a MS Dyanmics CRM 4.0 project. Our company has a high number of remote employees and even more remote consultants. As such it will be necessary to make the CRM solution available over the internet. As near as I can tell, I have three options: Have everyone use a VPN to access an intranet site (typical onsite deployment). However, we have found that VPNs are far from trouble free and cause many support issues. We avoid them like the plague. Use IFD to expose the CRM on the internet. I don't know much about this except that the URL will be different than the onsite URL, which could cause some headaches (see below). Expose the CRM site by opening the site to the internet, using SSL to encrypt traffic. We currently do this with our MS sharepoint sites. I'm not sure how secure this would be (one of the reasons for this question). I'd like to avoid using both the onsite intranet deployment and the IFD together for a couple of reasons. One of the requests for the solution is use email to notify users that they've been assigned a task, and include the URL to the task within the email. For this reason. If both deployments are used, then I'll need to include two URLs and the user would need to know which to use. Which leads to the second reason, the main users of the solution split time between being in the office and being remote. Thus they would need to access the solution two different ways, and know when to use which. Bad. So, what are the advantages/disadvantages of any of these methods? Any other options? Is there any issue using IFD from within the intranet? Security issues? Thanks!

  In the template.php file I inserted the code below: I found a tutorial online that gives the code, but I'm confused on how to get it to work. I copied the code below and inserted it into the template.php from the theme HTML5_base. I duplicated the page.tpl.php file and created custom pages -- page-gallery.tpl.php and page-articles.tpl.php. I inserted some text to the files just see that I've navigated to the pages w/ the changes. It looks like Drupal is not recognizing gallery.tpl.php and page-articles.tpl.php.
