• Linux - Programmatically write to a proc file

  I have found several examples online where we can create a proc file, assign read and write methods that are called every time the proc file is opened for read or written to. However, I can't seem to find any documentation on how to programatically write to a proc file. Ideally, I would like to add a timestamp with other user details every time the proc file is opened for read or for write. Again, I've found where I can add the read and write functions that are triggered when the proc file is opened, but I can't find documentation on how to actually write to a proc file programatically. This would be different from a regular IO read/write, correct?

I have no control how and where the characters get displayed. I would like it to always begin on line 1 position 1 but as I said earlier how would I be able to do that. The same program if I run again and again it moves a character to the left. I have set it to accept ASCII char set and so I am able to type as is visble in the Writeline message

  I have 2 threads in my application, a game update thread and render/IO/main thread. My update thread updates the game state, and the render thread renders the scene based on the updated values of the game state models and a few other variables stored inside an object (gameEngine). The render thread gets executed while the game thread is still updating, which is a problem, so it appeared to me the solution is to use @synchronized like this: @synchronized(gameEngine) { [gameEngine update]; nextUpdate = now + GAME_UPDATE_INTERVAL; gameEngine.lastGameUpdateInterval = now - lastUpdate; gameEngine.lastGameUpdateTime = now; lastUpdate = now; } But the render thread still accesses the gameEngine object between -update and the last 3 lines of the block. Why is this?

  I am attempting to use Android XML-RPC and for some calls I get the following exception: W/System.err( 837): java.io.IOException: Cannot serialize java.lang.Object@43759748 It looks like it is having troubles serializing the returned data, but I cannot find much documentation on how to actually use Android XML-RPC. The way I am using Android XML-RPC is as follows: Object response = (Object)client.call("sales_order.list", new Object()); This one is pretty odd. I have tried setting this call up in a few different ways (using HashMaps, not passing second variable, etc) and the response I get is that sales_order.list is not a valid Method. I have been able to login to the service using the following code: this.sessionId = (String)client.call("login", this.apiUserName, this.apiPassword); Does anyone have any ideas or a good resource on how to use Android XML-RPC?   I am currently writing a Haskell program that does some initialization work and then calls ncmpcpp. What I am trying to do is start ncmpcpp and terminate the Haskell program, so that only ncmpcpp is left (optionally, the program can keep running in the background, as long as it's unintrusive) However, even though I am able to start ncmpcpp, I cannot interact with it. I see its output, but input appears to be impossible. • Freeing a character pointer returns error

  I'm trying to free a character pointer after having used it but it returns a strange error. The error says: "_CrtDbgREport: String too long or IO Error" The debugger itself returns no errors while compiling. If I open that file in 010 Editor (to view the binary data) it displays as this: 47 43 44 53 79 73 74 65 6D 73 3F 0A 01 32 31 36 The original byte array contained 89 at position 11, and the encoded string contains 3F. If I change my encoding to Encoding.Default.GetString, it gives me: 47 43 44 53 79 73 74 65 6D 73 E2 80 B0 0A 01 32 31 36 Any help would be much appreciated!

• VB.NET Use WebRequest to check if URI is valid

  Looking for the best way to determine if a URI exists in VB.NET without downloading the actual content. System.IO.FileExists/My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists can be used locally to determine if a file exists, is there an equivalent for the Web? Currently I am using a HttpWebRequest to check URI existance using the ResponseStream. This populates the stream if the target does exist and throws an exception if it doesn't. The function is being expanded to also check for PDF files (typically 5MB +), images, etc and it will be a waste of time/bandwidth to actually populate the content into a stream. In the case of "Success" (the target does exist) I do not wish to download the file or page, simply to end up with a Boolean which indicates the whether something exists at the end of this URI.

• How to to dump JS array... (boommarklet?)

  A page on a site I use is holding some of my data hostage. Once I have logged into the site and navigated to the right page, the data I need is in the array eeData[] - it is 720 elements long (once every 2 minutes of a given day). Rather than simulate the requests to the underlying stuff json supplier and since its only once a day, I am happy to simply develop a bookmarklet to grab the data - preferably as a XML or CSV file. Any pointers to sample code or hints would help. I found a bookmarklet here that is based on this script that does part of this - but I am not up to speed on any potential JS file IO to see if it is possible to induce a file "download" of the data, or pop it opn in a new window I can copy / paste.

• Problem with deployment of windows application using setup wizard.

  I have some xml files, which are used in my application. They are stored in the same folder with application , in subfolder DATA: "C:\MyProject\DATA\". To get the DATA folder path i use this code : static public string GetDataFolderPath() { string s = System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory().Replace(@"\bin\Debug", ""); int i = s.LastIndexOf(@"\"); s = s.Substring(0, i); i = s.LastIndexOf(@"\"); s= s.Substring(0, i); return s + @"\Data\"; } So when i want to deploy my application, i create a setup project, and add the DATA folder to Application folder. But after i install the program f.e. "C:\Project"(DATA folder- "C:\Project\DATA" i got the error: "folder C:\DATA is not found". What i need to change to make things working after deployment. Why it looks for the DATA folder on 1 level higher?
