• Prewritten App for Used Car Dealer?

  Is there somewhere I can find a prewritten WebApp (with database) for a used car dealer? The application would need to support the following: Easy setup in a low cost Shared or Cloud Host Give potential customers easy way to browse current inventory (cars on lot) with suggested prices Give dealership easy way to login and update inventory (cars on lot) and suggested prices Give potential customers easy way to send the dealership an inquiry about a specific vehicle on the lot with CAPTCHA style SPAM protection I prefer ASP.NET MVC and Microsoft SQL Server, but I might consider other technologies such as WebForms and LightSwitch (HTML5). I am reasonably comfortable with MVC and WebForms, but I really don't want to waste a bunch of time writing an application that might already exist. I did find a few interesting templates via Bing that seem to control CSS and Layout, but I'm not sure if they contain any business logic or if they would integrate well into an MVC App.

• Unity: Assigning a key to perform an action in the inspector

  I am trying to write a simple piece of code in JavaScript where a button toggles the activation of a shield, by dragging a prefab with Resources.load("ActivateShieldPreFab") and destroying it again (Haven't implemented that yet). I wish to assign this button through the inspector, so I have created a string variable which appears as intended in the inspector. Though it doesn't seem to register the inspector input, even though I changed the value through the inspector. It only provides the error: "Input Key named: is unknown" When the button name is assigned within the code, there is no issues. • Upgrading from raring to saucy broke many of my fonts in certain applications

  I upgraded from raring to saucy over the weekend. Two of my applications, dzen2 and xmobar, won't display the fonts they used to. I'd mostly been using fixed and 6x12. xmobar doesn't run with these fonts. dzen2 shows some generic font I can't identify. I can change the size but not the font. The only exception is terminus. I looped over xlsfonts and piped them into a dzen2 to see what still worked. Variants of terminus were fine. Everything else used the same generic looking font face. No idea why. I haven't found any other applications with font issues since the update, but I haven't tried too hard to look either.

• Upgrading to Gnome 3.4 breaks Unity and gnome-shell

  I have upgraded my gnome shell to 3.4 in Ubuntu 11.10 through sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/testing sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3 sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get install gnome-shell But it broke my system. Gnome shell is completely broken - When I login it just shows desktop wallpaper and nothing else. And importantly Unity is also broken. Attaching the screenshot Some main issues 1)Two menus are appearing now - Global menu as well as application menu 2)Icons on top-right panel are appearing weirdly 3)My Default Ambiance Theme also got screwed. Instead of black color menus, I am seeing white color menus. How do I fix them? Or Do I have an option to revert back to original settings or will reinstalling Unity/Gnome Shell helps ?

• Box2D Platform body not moving player body along with it

  I am creating a game using Box2D (Javascript implementation) - and I added the ability to have a static platform, that is moved along an axis as a function of a sine. My problem is when the player lands on the platform, as the platform moves along the X axis - the player is not moved along with it, as you visually would expect. The player can land on the object, and if it hits the side of the object, it does colide with it and is pushed. • Camera lookAt target changes when rotating parent node

  have the following issue.I have a camera with lookAt method which works fine.I have a parent node to which I parent the camera.If I rotate the parent node while keeping the camera lookAt the target , the camera lookAt changes too.That is nor what I want to achieve.I need it to work like in Adobe AE when you parent camera to a null object:when null object is rotated the camera starts orbiting around the target while still looking at the target.What I do currently is multiplying parent's model matrix with camera model matrix which is calculated from lookAt() method.I am sure I need to decompose (or recompose ) one of the matrices before multiplying them .Parent model or camera model ? Anyone here can show the right way doing it ? UPDATE: The parent is just a node .The child is the camera.The parented camera in AfterEffects works like this: If you rotate the parent node while camera looks at the target , the camera actually starts orbiting around the target based on the parent rotation.In my case the parent rotation changes also Camera's lookAt direction which IS NOT what I want.Hope now it is clear .

• Philly GiveCamp 2010

  Spent the weekend helping out several non-profits doing what we like to do best...  Designing, developing and making people very happy with their new websites, systems, applications and features.  Form what I saw at this GiveCamp about 75 percent of the non-profits needed updated or new websites supporting CMS features and the ability for staff members to update the content on their websites.... Some cool apps were designed and developed..... A centralized system for distribution of daily schedules and task assistance to autistic clients was a show stopper with an awesome central management interface, IPhone and in the future windows phone support for tactile, auditory and visual cues. SharePoint was upgraded and forms were automated for a volunteer fire company that desperately needed some automation to help the fireman do their primary job. Many cool sites for non-profits that had ether an outdated or non existent web presence.

• System Center Service Manager 2010 SP1 Resource Links

  System Center Service Manager is a new product that Microsoft released last year to handle incident/problem/change management.  Currently the latest version is System Center Service Manager SP1, and there is a Cumulative Update for SP1 that you should grab as well. A strong ecosystem is starting to spring up around this product, with tools and connectors that fill needs not build into the product.  To find the latest list of these items, you need to do to the SCSM 2010 Downloads page.  Here you can find a list of the latest tools and add-ons from Microsoft, as well as third-party vendors.  The Microsoft Exchange connector, and the Powershell Cmdlets are definitely worth it to download and install.

  You can use DPInst (Driver Package Installer) to install driver files for your device on Windows Operating Systems. DPInst.exe is part of DIFx (Driver Install Framework tools) which comes along with the Windows Driver Kit (WDK). You can find DPInst redistributable inside the redist\DIFx\DPInst folder of the WDK. • Simultaneous Animation for a GameObject - Unity3D

  Its my second week with Unity. I am doing a 2D game and I have a small GameObject which should change its sprite along with following a definite path defined in Animation Curves. I did both of them in separate .anim files since the transform animation had many keyframes, i thought it wont be good to put the '2' sprite keyframe repeatedly along side the transform keyframe. But the problem is, I cant get it both working together at the same time. I dont want any blending because the animation is timed well already. Also, I tried deleting the sprite change animation and tried it under script changing the SpriteRenderer.Sprite property under Update(); but it works only when the Animator component is disabled in the GameObject. Any Solutions ? :)

  Here's a quick update. I was down at a nice reception at the hotel for the conference speakers when a door is violently thrown open and a guys goes running through and down the hall. Following closely behind was a security guard. I immediately took off running after both of them. We tore down a long hallway and out the door of the hotel into the street. I had caught up to the security guard, but the thief had put a little distance between himself and the guard. The guard gave up the chase. • Google keeps indexing /comment/reply URL

  With the new update of Google algorithm called Penguin, I think my site was being penalized due to webspam. But of course I don't create post which seems to be spam to Google. It is just I think how Google index my site. I found out that Google index the URL of my site like: http://www.example.com/comment/reply/3866/26556 So there are so many comment/reply URL index by Google. I have already added: Disallow: /comment/reply/ Disallow: /?q=comment/reply/ but still Google still index this URL. Any idea how to prevent Google from indexing comments?

  I am using the following game loop for my pacman clone: long prevTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); while (running) { long curTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); float frameTime = (curTime - prevTime) / 1000f; prevTime = curTime; while (frameTime > 0.0f) { final float deltaTime = Math.min(frameTime, TIME_STEP); update(deltaTime); frameTime -= deltaTime; } repaint(); } The thing is, I don't always get the same ghost movement every time I run the game (their logic is deterministic), so it must be the game loop. I imagine it's due to the final float deltaTime = Math.min(frameTime, TIME_STEP); line. What's the best way of modifying this to perform the exact same way every time I run it? Also, any further improvements I can make?

• How does an Engine like Source process entities?

  [background information] On the Source engine (and it's antecessor, goldsrc, quake's) the game objects are divided on two types, world and entities. The world is the map geometry and the entities are players, particles, sounds, scores, etc (for the Source Engine). Every entity has a think function, which do all the logic for that entity. So, if everything that needs to be processed comes from a base class with the think function, the game engine could store everything on a list and, on every frame, loop through it and call that function. On a first look, this idea is reasonable, but it can take too much resources, if the game has a lot of entities.. [end of background information] So, how does a engine like Source take care (process, update, draw, etc) of the game objects?
