  • Windows 7 sound control is not flexible.

    I would like to be able to listen to music on both of two audio output devices, but Windows 7 seems to only allow me to select one or the other as the Default device. When device A is the Default device, device B is muted; and vice versa. This seems to be stunningly inflexible. Since Windows 7 is unable to do this, can anyone recommend any add-on software that would control the hardware more flexibly and thoughtfully?

  • SFTP/SSH profile load

    I have a CentOS 6.2 server. Whenever some one logs into the server using the terminal (SSH) the user profile (.bash_profile) is loaded. Now my question is, is there a profile that loads whenever you use SFTP to login into the server via "FTP browsing software" ( I use WinSCP ), I want to send an email whenever a user logs into the server via SFTP. I already have the code to do this when a user logs into the terminal (SSH) when his profile loads. Thanks

    I run a job every minute to reindex my site's content. Today, the search engine died, and when I logged in there were hundreds of orphan processes that had been started by cron. Is there another way using some kind of existing software that will let me execute a job every minute, but that won't launch another instance if that job doesn't return (i.e. because the search engine process has failed)?

However suse rovide options to boot windows 1 (window xp) during boot up. If i uninstall suse linux (i've tried), windows won't be able to be booted up as the grub master boot will be corrupted. my question is: is there a software tool which can be booted on cd to modify the master boot record so as to reduce much effort??

  • How many Tomcat instances can one application server handle?

    My network engineer states I am part of a cluster where two apache application servers(512G RAM each) have 142 instances each of Tomcat (of which my company represents 6 each with 2G RAM). This seems like a lot and my latency issues move with the hour of the day - 7AM CST software functions fine, 10AM CST - system slows significantly this slowness continues until 6PM CST. My question is how many Tomcat instances can one application server handle?

I have XAMPP 1.7.1 running on a windows xp machine on which this application is deployed. So I'm wondering if the following would be possible: to use different set of shortcuts for different applications - so one shortcut performs different actions in different places. to make some form of modes for application, where you could use some switch (vim style) and this would change things the shortcat would do if it would be possible to place some caption that indicates which mode you are using - little improvement of previous item I thank everyone for their answers.

It looks like can do more than simply virtualize an entire system, and I'm having trouble finding good documentation that would explain how I can start a virtualized system (using an openvz template or something).   • Windows 7 Error Recovery upon boot

    My system doesn't boot at all, upon starting it takes me to the Windows Error Recovery screen saying "Windows failed to start, a recent software or hardware change might be the cause" and gives two options Launch System Repair (Recommended) Start Windows normally But neither options work, upon clicking either of them, some progress bars get displayed and the screen just freezes on "Starting Windows". I tried booting from the Windows 7 disk but it too freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen. I even tried booting from ubuntu, slax linux, but they don't work too.

I have an exact copy of the hardware of it, which I intend to use a a redundant backup in case my server fails (hardware or software). I'd like to routinely "clone" my production server's hard drive, so that when it fails, I'll just swap it with the latest clone. Is this even possible? If it is, what would be the simplest way to do this?

  • Chrome keeps crashing a short while after startup

    Hi, whenever I turn on Chrome, it crashes after a very short while (less than a minute). It started happening about a week ago for no apparent reason. I didn't install any new software, update or uninstall anything (as far as I remember), it just crashes. It doesn't matter wether I even open any page or not, Chrome just dies, period. Doesn't anybody have an idea why might that be? I'm running on Windows Vista Home Basic.

  • Is there a fix for Windows 8 Release Preview freezing intermittently on Macbook Air

    I've successfully installed Windows 8 x64 Release Preview on a 2010 Macbook Air (4GB/256GB). I was also able to install the Apple Boot Camp tools without incident, but the computer will intermittently freeze up completely (need a forced shutdown) for no apparent reason. As such, there is no logging information to help me troubleshoot this any further. I have no other software installed at this point; only the latest updates from Microsoft. Any ideas?

    I'm looking for something special : here is a windows server that is used for development by 4/5 people remotely working on it through remote control. I'm installing Visual Studio 2010 on it, and the installation won't continue until the server has been restarted. I'm looking for a way to reboot when the server is idle (when nobody is connected through remote desktop on it) so that the reboot doesn't bug anyone. Is there some software that can do that ?     Don't remember this from earlier, but my mouse is lagging when I refresh specific websites in Chrome and Firefox. I can't observe such lags with Internet Explorer.
