  • Simulate Hover using jQuery

    - by Riccardo
    Given the existing "buttons" HTML: <div id="MB"> <ul class="list"> <li id="post-5"><a href="#post-5">5</a></li> <li id="post-4"><a href="#post-4">4</a></li> <li id="post-3"><a href="#post-3">3</a></li> <li id="post-2"><a href="#post-2">2</a></li> <li id="post-1"><a href="#post-1">1</a></li> </ul> </div> CSS: #MB .list li a { float:left; color:#333; background:#f6f6f6; border:1px solid #eaeaea; border-right:none; padding:0 8px; } #MB .list li a:hover, #MB .list li a:focus { color:#fff; border:1px solid #333333; border-right:none; background:#404040; text-decoration:none; } I'd like to simulate "hover" automatically on each button, sequentially, every n seconds. This means that every n seconds a button is "hovered" (changing color etc), at next interval is "turned off" and the following button will "turn on" and so on...

  • Frameset isn't working in IE

    - by Cameroon
First of all, why use a frame set in the first place you ask? answer: Because my boss told me. That been said, I have 2 files. Index.html and Head.html. Contents of index.html: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/frameset.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" /> <title>Site Title</title> </head> <frameset rows="122,*" FRAMEBORDER=NO FRAMESPACING=2 BORDER=0> <frame name="t" src="head.html" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"> <frame name="b" src="http://www.website.com"> </frameset> <noframes> <p>You have frames turned off on your browser, please turn it on and reload this page.</p> </noframes> </html> Contents of head.html: <div style="border-bottom:2px solid #000;height:120px"> <center>This is the frame head.</center> </div> The code works fine in all browsers except Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (I don't care about 6). Is there anything I am doing wrong, and if not then can the same effect be achieved without frames and if so how?

  • CSS3 Gradients and border-radius leading to extraneous background in webkit

    - by iamfriendly
Hello all, After my 1st question with relation to CSS3 gradients in which I was recreating an 'inner glow' I've now got to the point where I'm not so happy with the way in which webkit renders the effect. Basically, if you give an element a background colour and apply a border radius to it, webkit lets the background colour "bleed" out to fill the surrounding box (making it look a bit awful) To reproduce the undesirable effect, try something like the following section#featured footer p a { color: rgb(255,255,255); text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.6); text-decoration: none; padding: 5px 10px; border-radius: 15px; -moz-border-radius: 15px; -webkit-border-radius: 15px; background: rgb(98,99,100); -moz-box-shadow: inset 0 0 8px rgba(0,0,0, 0.25); -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 8px rgba(0,0,0, 0.25); } You can see an example of this here: http://iamfriendly.clients.friendlygp.com/ Apparently this appears to be a Windows-only problem, so for those on a Mac, here's a screenshot: (Check the 'carry on reading' button) You'll notice that in Safari/Chrome (the latest available public downloads as well as the latest nightlies as far as I can tell), you get a rather ugly background colour bleed. However, in Firefox, you should be able to see what I'm after. If you're in Internet Explorer, woe betide you. Does anyone know of a technique which will allow me to produce the 'correct' effect? Is there a CSS Property which I've missed that tells webkit to only have the background within the border-radius'd part of the containing box. I could potentially use an image, but I'm really trying to avoid it. Naturally, as we're dealing with CSS3 and the landscape is continually changing, I might just have to 'lump' it and revert to an image. However, if anyone can suggest an alternative I would be very much appreciative!

  • Table borders don't display properly when converted from HTML page into MS Word 2003

    - by Daria
Hello everyone, I've got a bit of a complicated set up. I specialise in XSLT which I write for 3rd party system. All CSS looks fine in the browser. Now that system provides a button that converts my generated HTML into MS Word 2003. However, table borders don't convert as they appear in a Browser. There are lots of tables and they have different borders setup. For example there is one that uses only outside border and no borders inside it. When converting to MS Word, a table appears with ALL the borders in between cells. Which I don't want. I've tried search the Internet, but didn't come across anything useful. Maybe there are tips or tricks on how to set up tables borders so it's understood properly by MS Word. The third party said the following: "The system just passes the HTML created through the converter it finds in the installed version of Word". I would really appreciate any tips and help! Dasha

  • Jquery .hide problem

    - by Sergio
    I'm using jquery to show animated MSN like window at the bottom of the page. Jquery code: $(document).ready(function() { $(" .inner").stop().animate({height:'142px'},{queue:false, duration:600}); $(' .close').click(function(event) { $(' .inner').hide(); }); $(' .inner').click(function() { location.replace("somepage.php"); }); }); The CSS: .close {height:14px; z-index:100; position: absolute; margin-left:174px; margin-top:12px; border:1px solid #F00;} .inner {position:absolute;bottom:0;width:201px;height:117px;right: 0; margin-right:10px; float:left; z-index:-1; display:block; cursor:pointer;} The problem that I have with this code is that the close button (showing at the right top corner of .inner DIV) can't fire Jquery .hide function. Why?

  • Android Web App : Position:fixed broken?

    - by StevenGilligan
Hi all, I'm in the process of developping a Web Application for mobiles. I went with web applications because to me it seems a winning situation having to develop one application that could run also on iPhone / Windows Mobile / Palm etc. I started testing today after a few days of doing concepts, ideas and designs and what I wanted to do was have a menu that sticks at the bottom of the page. Exactly like the menu on the bottom in this iPhone application screenshot : http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/2656904921_1c54e93b4f.jpg Using CSS, I though it would be really easy to do this. Only using position:fixed; bottom:0; would have done the trick but I have found it doesn't behave the same on mobile browsers I tried to split my page in 2 sections : 1 would be a scrollable div (for the content) and the other one would be the bottom menu. Scrollable divs also do not work on Android. I also tried using frames with no luck either. Does anyone know of any way to re-create a menu that would stick to the bottom of a page for mobile phones? Thank you, Steven

  • How to scroll LI items in a fixed height UL?

    - by Tahir Akram
Here is my example HTML. And I want to have scroll for my LI items. Which are of 2 levels. Means, I want to apply class on every UL. So how can I do that. By using JQuery or CSS tweaking. • Cross-browser padding/margins

    - by Lucifer
    Hi All, I was wondering if you could give me some helpful hints on how to correct this issue? I have a main menu on my site, the code for it is as follows: li:hover { background-color: #222222; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 9px; } And here's a demo of what it actually looks like: The problem is that when I hover over a menu option (li), the background appears, but it overflows to the outside of the menu's background, and makes it look really dodgy/crap/cheap/yuck! Note that (obviously) when I change the padding to make it display correctly in these browsers, it appears too small in height in IE! So I'm screwed either way. How can I make little imperfections like this look the same in all browsers? Update: HTML (The menu): <ul class="menu"> <li class="currentPage" href="index.php"><a>Home</a></li> <li><a href="services.php">Services</a></li> <li><a href="support.php">Support</a></li> <li><a href="contact.php">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="myaccount/" class="myaccount">My Account</a></li> </ul> The CSS: .menu { margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 5px; width: 345px; float: right; } li { font-size: 9pt; color: whitesmoke; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 8px; display: inline; list-style: none; } li:hover { background-color: #222222; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 9px; }

  • Help with animating an element in jQuery

    - by alex
I have an unordered list with a few list elements. #tags { width: 300px; height: 300px; position: relative; border: 1px solid red; list-style: none none; } #tags li { position: absolute; background: gray; } I have also started writing a jQuery plugin to animate the list elements. So far, I place the list elements randomly in the parent container, and choose a random font size for the text. My next step (which I am a bit stuck on) is to animate the list elements... essentially, I want the list elements to do something like this Slide from left to right whilst getting slightly larger up to the middle and then dropping in size back to normal when it hits the right border. Then, it should do the same in reverse, however it should also set a negative 'z-index' and maybe fade in opacity a bit. The first bit I'm really stuck on, is how to determine if the element is near the middle, in a way that I can have a value that starts at 0.1 on the far left hand size and is 1 in the middle and then back to 0.1 on the far right hand size. Basically, I want them to appear as if they are going around in a faux 3D circle into the page. Then I could do something like this $(this).css({ fontSize: percentageTowardsMiddle * 14, }); Do you know how I could do this? Thanks

  • assigning width to li

    - by badnaam
    I am using jquery ui tabs, which requires the tabs to be <li> elements, by default at least. I only need 2 tabs, but I am not able to size them so that they are both equal and take up 100% of available width of the ul. here is my code. <div id="intro_tabs" class="tabs"> <ul id="intro_nav"> <li> <h3><a href ="#tabs-1" class="null_link"><%= t('home.index.what_is_it') %></a></h3> </li> <li> <h3><a href ="#tabs-2" class="null_link"><%= t('home.index.how_works') %></a></h3> </li> </ul> <div id="tabs-1"> <%= simple_format t 'home.index.what_intro_details' %> </div> <div id="tabs-2"> <div id="intro_accordion"> <h3><a href="#">Users</a></h3> <div> <%= t 'home.index.how_intro_details_user' %> </div> <h3><a href="#">Merchants</a></h3> <div> <%= t 'home.index.how_intro_details_merchant' %> </div> </div> </div> </div> I have tried using css property width:50%, on both li's but it doesn't work. Thanks

  • jQuery carousel in a div with display:none

    - by Fred Kafka
I have to use on my site a jQuery responsive carousel with 4 displayed items that slide one at a time, etc etc. The point is: this carousel is placed in a div with display:none and it appears clicking on a button with a slideToggle script (jQuery). Well, when the div appears the carousel is not displayed. Nothing! Notice that if I remove the display:none the carousel shows perfectly. I've tried a bunch of carousel plugin (bxslider, caroufredsel, elastislide, flexslider) and this issue happens for all of them. And then... I'm going crazy!! Excuse meSorry friends, here is the code: HTML (here is the case of FlexSlider but the code is similar for the other plugins) <div id="hiddenDiv"> <div id="hiddenDivInner"> <div class="flexslider"> <ul class="slides"> <li>...</li> <li>...</li> <li>...</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> CSS #hiddenDiv{ display:none; padding-bottom:10px; background: url("../img/xxx.gif") repeat left bottom #FFFFFF; } SCRIPT (copy-paste from the site. This script is between $(document).ready together with other scripts. Alredy tried to remove the load function) $(window).load(function() { $('.flexslider').flexslider({ animation: "slide", animationLoop: false, itemWidth: 300, itemMargin: 5, minItems: 1, maxItems: 4 }); }); $("#trigger").click(function () { $("#hiddenDiv").slideToggle(400, "easeInOutExpo"); }); I remind you that with this code and no display:none every carousels work, also if I slide up and then down the div using the slideToggle button (#trigger).

  • How to move list items from two lists (from different areas) to one specific list by clicking the li

    - by pschorr
I've been having some issues setting up a list of items and moving them between each other. Is it possible to have multiple lists, with a link inside each item to move it to a specified list? i.e. List of actions with a plus next to the action, click the plus and move to a specified box? Furthermore, would it be possible to then load a lightbox (code would have to be inline I'd guess) from that page and move those names to the specific list as well? Example Images Thanks much! More broad view of my efforts so far... The initial issue being that I could not use listboxes due to their being rendered natively inside each individual browser. Through listboxes I was able to set this up, but with a trigger via the code below (found on stackoverflow). While it gave me partial functionality it did not get the target I was looking for. document.getElementById('moveTrigger').onclick = function() { var listTwo = document.getElementById('secondList'); var options = document.getElementById('firstList').getElementsByTagName('option'); while(options.length != 0) { listTwo.appendChild(options[0]); } } I then moved onto jqueryui's sortable and it's ability to connect multiple, and most important, style-able lists and to be dragged between each other. This works for the side by side tables, but it does not offer the usability I was looking for overall. So, I've come to where I'm unsure as to where to move forward. While I can get around PHP, I wouldn't know where to start with this one personally. I'm open to any and all options! Thanks much!

  • Does height and width not apply to span?

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Total noob question, but here. CSS .product__specfield_8_arrow { /*background-image:url(../../upload/orng_bg_arrow.png); background-repeat:no-repeat;*/ background-color:#fc0; width:50px !important; height:33px !important; border: 1px solid #dddddd; border-left:none; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; border-bottom-left-radius:0px; border-top-left-radius:0px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:0px; -moz-border-radius-topleft:0px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:0px; -webkit-border-top-left-radius:0px; margin:0; padding:2px; cursor:pointer; }??? HTML <span class="product__specfield_8_arrow">&nbsp;</span>? Fiddle Basically I'm trying to emulate a button, make a span (or something) look like a button next to an input field that actually doesn't need to be one because of an auto fill generator that generates errors onEnter. Thought this'd be a quick fix for now but obviously not. Thanks.

  • Help porting javascript function to jQuery - learning tool

    - by chibineku
I am just learning jQuery and I wanted to see what I could do with the function below. This function adds or removes css classes to create a pull down menu (it is in fact Stu Nicholl's well known pull down menu). But I'm not getting very far (I've been learning jQuery for approximately an hoour now, so my DOM traversal isn't quite up there yet). I am curious to see how neat and elegant it can become using jQuery, and thought I'd see what you guys could come up with. Here is the existing function: var getEls = document.getElementById("menu").getElementsByTagName("LI"); var getAgn = getEls; for (var i=0; i<getEls.length; i++) { getEls[i].onclick=function() { for (var x=0; x<getAgn.length; x++) { getAgn[x].className=getAgn[x].className.replace("unclick", ""); getAgn[x].className=getAgn[x].className.replace("click", "unclick"); } if ((this.className.indexOf('unclick'))!=-1) { this.className=this.className.replace("unclick", "");; } else { this.className+=" click"; } } } } My first failure started like this: $(document).ready(function() { $('#menu > li').click(function() { $('#menu >li > ul').toggleClass('unclick'); }); }); That works as far as it goes, but the next bit proved tricky. So, if anyone feels like having a go, please be my guest :)

  • Javascript with Django?

    - by Rosarch
I know this has been asked before, but I'm having a hard time setting up JS on my Django web app, even though I'm reading the documentation. I'm running the Django dev server. My file structure looks like this: mysite/ __init__.py MySiteDB manage.py settings.py urls.py myapp/ __init__.py admin.py models.py test.py views.py templates/ index.html Where do I want to put the Javascript and CSS? I've tried it in a bunch of places, including myapp/, templates/ and mysite/, but none seem to work. From index.html: <head> <title>Degree Planner</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/JQuery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/scripts/sprintf.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/scripts/clientside.js"></script> </head> From urls.py: (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), (r'^media/(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': 'media'}) (r'^.*', 'mysite.myapp.views.index'), I suspect that the serve() line is the cause of errors like: TypeError at /admin/auth/ 'tuple' object is not callable Just to round off the rampant flailing, I changed these settings in settings.py: MEDIA_ROOT = '/media/' MEDIA_URL = 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/media'

  • Dropdown in PHP

    - by VP
Hi, I am using PHP 5.2 on SUN OS server. Having problems with the following piece of code that for a drop down: echo '<form action="" method="get">'; echo '<p>Information:<br />'; echo '<select name="acctno" style="width: 100px;">'; foreach ($this->account_names as $acctno => $acctname) { echo '<option value="'.$acctno.'">'.$acctname.'</option>'; } echo '</select> <input type="submit" value="view" />'; echo '</form>'; Worked perfectly fine on Firefox and Chrome; however there is a problem with Internet Explorer. In IE the dropdown width is limited to the size i.e 100px. So only the first 15-16 characters of the account name are displayed all the time. However in chrome or firefox, even if only 15-16 characters are displayed initially, when the drop down arrow is clicked upon, it show the entire name (however long it may be). This does not happen with IE. So if the account name is, lets say, "1223456789abcdefghijkl" then: For IE: shows only "123456789" all the time Ffor chrome or firefox: shows "123456789" and when it is dropped down it show the full name as "123456789abcdefghijkl". Any help here would be much appreciated. Thanks, VP

  • Block element, horizontal center aligned and minimum width possible

    - by Nazgulled
Hi, I'm trying to have this block element to be horizontally aligned in the middle but at the same time I would like the width to be the minimum possible for the contents inside. But I don't think it's possible or I'm not able to do it myself... a#button-link { background: url("images/button-link.png") no-repeat scroll center left; margin: 12px auto 0 auto; display: block; width: 125px; height: 32px; line-height: 32px; padding-left: 35px; font-weight: bold; } This is my current code... The idea behind this is that the text for that tag could be slightly bigger or smaller depending on the user language and how much characters the same sentence has for that specific user's language. There's no way I can control but I still would like to have this element horizontally aligned to center. Is this possible with CSS?

  • jQuery UI slider coming out looking wierd

    - by jondavidjohn
http://cl.ly/2W1V3s0G2G3y3D133I3U <--screenshot of rendered slider It acts normally by clicking the inner whitespace of the slider and dragging, values act accordingly, but the handles do not move and fill the area, and the line at the top grows/shrinks with the difference of the two values. Here is the code I am using to initiate the slider. $('.sliderific').each(function(){ alert($(this).attr('id')); $(this).slider({ range: true, min: 0, max: 500, values: [ 75, 300 ], slide: function( event, ui ) { $(this).nextAll('.left:first').text(ui.values[ 0 ]); $(this).nextAll('.right:first').text(ui.values[ 1 ]); } }); }); and here is the DOM it's being applied to... <div class="white notwide"> <div id="price-slider" class="sliderific"></div> <span class="em small gray left center">Min Price</span> <span class="em small gray right center">Max Price </span> </div> EDIT : Also, I have verified I am including the proper css and the jquery theme images are connecting and being loaded.

  • Printing HTML blocks

    - by Lem0n
I have a page with a few tables that I want to be printable. I want the following behaviour: 1) Add a page break if the next table fits in a single page, but won't fit in the current page (because of other stuff already printed on this page) 2) Print the "table header" again in case it's needed to break a table (I guess it's the default behaviour) Any ideas specially on the first issue? Maybe some CSS can help? I'll give on example. I have a page with 4 tables. All of them with 10 lines, except the third one, with 50 lines. The first and second goes on the first page. Since the third one won't fit in the same page, but will fit in a page alone, it's printed on a page alone... and then the forth table is printed on the third page (in case it doesn't fit together in the second page). But, if the third page had 300 lines and would be broke anyway, it could have started to be print in the first page.

  • JQuery function not working as expected

    - by Mike
I've written a little function to position a logo midway between the left hand side of the browser window and the (centered) navigation menu. The menu items are populated from a database, with the first item given the id item0. function positionLogo(){ var $menuleft=0; var $element=document.getElementById('item0'); if ($element.offsetParent) { do { $menuleft+=$element.offsetLeft; } while ($element=$element.offsetParent); } var $logoleft=($menuleft/2)-130; // As logo is 260px wide if ($logoleft<0) { $logoleft=0; } $('#logo').css('left',$logoleft); } $(document).ready(function(){ positionLogo(); }); $(window).resize(function(){ positionLogo(); }); This works fine when the window is resized, but when it first runs when the page is loaded, the position it sets is about 20px too far right (ie $logoleft is 20 more than it should be). As soon as the page is resized it jumps into the correct position. Haven't got it live anywhere at the moment but does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

  • Drag/drop problem (draggable in position:relative parent)

    - by MackDaddy
Here's the scenario, I'm using prototype and scriptaculous, but I believe jquery would have the same issue. I have a list draggable images in a relatively positioned div. The problem is I can't drag the images out of the parent div... well... you can, they're just not visible. If you remove the position:relative on the parent div, it works just fine, I can drag items out of the div perfectly. However because of this little IE7 bug: http://snook.ca/archives/html%5Fand%5Fcss/position%5Frelative%5Foverflow%5Fie/ that position:relative is required. IS there another work around to this bug that does not require setting position? I've tried playing with z-index and everything I can think of to no avail. Here's the CSS for the box: #products{ width: 680px; height: 400px; border: 1px solid gray; /*background-color: #66FF00;*/ overflow-y: scroll; overflow-x: hidden; font-family:"Helvetica Neue","Helvetica"; font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; position: relative; } If you would like to see this bug in action, you can visit it here: http://twinmed-dev.com/template%5Fadd.php. Try searching for an item like "gloves" then adding it to the cart below. Thanks for any help.

  • Visual Studio opening .xml files in Notepad

    - by Portman
So I'm happily working on a project making heavy use of custom .xml configuration files this morning. All of a sudden, whenever I double-click an .xml file in Solution Explorer, it opens in Notepad instead of within Visual Studio. Thinking that it was the Windows file associations, I right-clicked on a file in Explorer, selected Open With Choose Defaults, and selected Visual Studio 2008. But the problem remains -- now when I open a file from Explorer, Visual Studio Opens, then it opens Notepad. Needless to say, this is very frustrating, and Google is not much help. Has anyone else ever had this problem, and what did you do about it? Notes: This only happens for .xml files. Other text files (.config, .txt) open within Visual Studio just fine. This has nothing to do with Windows file associations, as Windows open up VS2008 just as it should. This is some crazy problem internal to Visual Studio. I've also tried Tools Options General Restore File Associations. No luck. Nothing present in Tools Options Text Editor File Extension This is what my "Open With" menu looks like for .xml files. As you can see, "XML Editor" is set to the default.
