    I have a perl code: my $s = "The+quick+brown+fox+jumps+over+the+lazy+dog+that+is+my+dog"; what I want is to replace every + with space and dog with cat i have this regular expression $s =~ s/+(.*)dog/ ${1}cat/g; But it only match first occurrence of + and last dog. Please help

  • What is an efficient way to find a non-colliding rectangle nearest to a location

    For a 2D game I am working on, I am using y axis sorting in a simple rectangle-based collision detection. This is working fine, and now I want to find the nearest empty rectangle at a given location with a given size, efficiently. How can I do this? Is there an algorithm? I could think of a simple brute force grid test (with each grid the size of the empty space we're looking for) but obviously this is slow and not even a complete test.

  • Using jQuery to gather all text nodes from a wrapped set, separated by spaces

    I'm looking for a way to gather all of the text in a jQuery wrapped set, but I need to create spaces between sibling nodes that have no text nodes between them. For example, consider this HTML: <div> <ul> <li>List item #1.</li><li>List item #2.</li><li>List item #3.</li> </ul> </div> If I simply use jQuery's text() method to gather the text content of the <div>, like such: var $div = $('div'), text = $div.text().trim(); alert(text); that produces the following text: List item #1.List item #2.List item #3. because there is no whitespace between each <li> element. What I'm actually looking for is this (note the single space between each sentence): List item #1. List item #3. List item #3. This suggest to me that I need to traverse the DOM nodes in the wrapped set, appending the text for each to a string, followed by a space. I tried the following code: var $div = $('div'), text = ''; $div.find('*').each(function() { text += $(this).text().trim() + ' '; }); alert(text); but this produced the following text: This is list item #1.This is list item #2.This is list item #3. This is list item #1. This is list item #2. This is list item #3. I assume this is because I'm iterating through every descendant of <div> and appending the text, so I'm getting the text nodes within both <ul> and each of its <li> children, leading to duplicated text. I think I could probably find/write a plain JavaScript function to recursively walk the DOM of the wrapped set, gathering and appending text nodes - but is there a simpler way to do this using jQuery? Cross-browser consistency is very important. Thanks for any help!

  • Different results between Android Geocoder and Google Geocoding web service

    I am creating an Android application and I need to use the geolocation. I have started by using the Geocoder API from Android (android.location.geocoder) but it causes some issues (timed out waiting for response from server) which seem to be common according to what I have read. To make my application work when this kind of error occurs, I use the Geocoding web service. Now, the application works every time. The problem is that the results returned by the geocoder from API and the geocoder from the web service are not the same. For example the web service returns only 3 addresses with only city name and country whereas the geocoding from the API returns about 8 addresses with the feature name, the thoroughfare, the locality... The question is: is there a way to make the results from the web service exactly the same than the ones from the API?     Hi I am writing an iPhone app that that is trying to create a second a view when the user clicks on an element in UITableView. The code looks like ReplyToViewController *reply = [[ReplyToViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ReplyTo" bundle:nil]; reply.delegate = self; Message *message = [resultData objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; int dbid = [message.bizid intValue]; NSLog(@"dbid=%d",dbid); reply.currentMessage = message; reply.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:reply animated:YES]; The reply object gets created properly and the view is proper. Last line in above code segment calls some framework code which eventually calls the viewDidLoad method of the ReplyToViewController. Address of the reply object in the above code and the address of the object in viewDidLoad is not same. Any idea where this new object is coming from? How do I debug? I also added init method the following method in ReplyToViewController hoping that it will get called and I can find who is creating this new object. But it does not stop in this method.     Hello, I have the following code in Python: linkHTML = "<a href=\"page?q=%s\">click here</a>" % strLink The problem is that when strLink has spaces in it the link shows up as <a href="page?q=with space">click here</a> I can use strLink.replace(" ","+") But I am sure there are other characters which can cause errors. I tried using urllib.quote(strLink) But it doesn't seem to help. Thanks! Joel

    I have a contact manager program and I would like to offer the feature to import csv files. The problem is that different data sources order the fields in different ways. I thought of programming an interface for the user to tell it the field order and how to handle exceptions. Here is an example line in one of many possible field orders: "ID#","Name","Rank","Address1","Address2","City","State","Country","Zip","Phone#","Email","Join Date","Sponsor ID","Sponsor Name" "Z1234","Call, Anson","STU","1234 E. 6578 S.","","Somecity","TX","United States","012345","000-000-0000","[email protected]","5/24/2010","z12343","Quantum Independence" Notice that in one data field "Name" there is a comma to separate last name and first name and in another there is not. My plan is to have a line for each field (ie ID, Name, City etc.) and a statement "import to" and list box with options like: Don't Import, BusinessJoin Date, First Name, Zip and the program recognizes those as properties of an object... I'd also like the user to be able to record preset field orders so they can re-use them for csv files from the same download source. Then I also need it to check if a record all ready exists (is there a record for Anson Call all ready?) and allow the user to tell it what to do if there is a record (ie mailing address may have changes, so if that field is filled overwrite it, or this mailing address is invalid, leave the current data untouched for this person, overwrite the rest). While I'm capable of coding this...i'm not very excited about it and I'm wondering if there's a tool or set of tools out there to all ready perform most of this functionality... I hope this makes sense...

I am not here for any kind of advertisement of microsoft or antivirus system. I am just here for solution of my query. When I tried to run above program - It creates a worm (DOS/Candy). I believe there is nothing wrong in program. Oke.. Now here is something special. Execute the same program with following difference. My question is what would be the best database layout from the performance point if i want to make search by country, city of the selected country, administrative area or nearest metro station of the selected city. Available countries, cities, administrative areas and metro sations should be defined by the administrator of catalogue and must be validated by geocoding.
