    We have a requirement where we need to convert from .wav file to .mp3 and we are currently using "Tritonus" library to do that . The concern with that library is that requires "installation" of some "dll" files to the class path. I am wondering are there any API's those allow better processing without local installation. And other question is ,having mp3 format files will make it easier to join the files into a single file than having .wav files ?

    Hello, I am trying to do some wav processing using Lua, but have fallen a the first hurdle! I cannot find a function or library that will allow me to load a wav file and access the raw data. There is one library, but it onl allows playing of wavs, not access to the raw data. Are there any out there? Cheers, Pete.

But I can't get, for example, when developing IM client-server application, how nodejs server script is supposed to talk to database server to actually store it's data? Or may be I miss something and nodejs server scripts are not supposed to do that? If so, please, push me to correct direction.

  • .net famework 4 total application deployment size

    After watching in horror as the .net framework 3.5 SP1 bloated to whopping 231 MB I was amazed to see that .NET Framework 4 Full (x86) is only 35 MB and client profile just 29 MB... My question is if .NET Framework 4 is in any way dependent on previous versions of the framework(s) being installed on the client machine or if my users will have to download only 29 (or 35) MB if I develop a Winforms or WPF desktop application in VS 2010 targeting the .NET Framework 4?

    Hi all - I'm attempting to write a Python wrapper for poker-eval, a c static library. All the documentation I can find on ctypes indicates that it works on shared/dynamic libraries. Is there a ctypes for static libraries? I know about cython, but should I use that or recompile the poker-eval into a dynamic library so that I can use ctypes? Thanks, Mike

    Hi all, my first question here, so please don't be to harsh if something went wrong :) I'm currently a CS student (from Germany, if this info is of any use ;) ) and we got a, free selectable, programming assignment, which we have to write in a C++/CLI Windows Forms Application. My team, two others and me, decided to go for a network-compatible port of the board game Risk. We divided the work in 3 Parts, namely UI, game logic and network. Now we're on the part where we have to get everything working together and the big question mark is, how to get the clients synchronized with each other? Our approach so far is, that each client has all information necessary to calculate and/or execute all possible actions. Actually the clients have all information available at all, aside from the game-initializing phase (add players, select map, etc.), which needs one "super-client" with some extra stuff to control things. This is the standard scenario of our approach: player performs action, the action is valid and got executed on the players client action is sent over the network action is executed on the other clients The design (i.e. no or code so far) we came up with so far, is something like the following pseudo sequence diagram. Gui, Controller and Network implement all possible actions (i.e. all actions which change data) as methods from an interface. So each part can implement the method in a way to get their job done. Example with Action(): On the player side's Client: Player-->Gui.Action() Gui-->Controller.Action() Controller-->Logic.Action (Logic.Action() == NoError)? Controller-->Network.Action() Network-->Parser.ParseAction() Network.Send(msg) On all other clients: Network.Recv(msg) Network-->Parser.Deparse(msg) Parser-->Logic.Action() Logic-->Gui.Action() The questions: Is this a viable approach to our task? Any better/easier way to this? Recommendations, critique? Our knowledge (so you can better target your answer): We are on the beginner side, in regards to programming on a somewhat larger projects with a small team. All of us have some general programming experience and basic understanding of the .Net Libraries and Windows Forms. If you need any further information, please feel free to ask.

    I'd like to be able to use ruby's OptionParser to parse sub-commands of the form COMMAND [GLOBAL FLAGS] [SUB-COMMAND [SUB-COMMAND FLAGS]] like: git branch -a gem list foo I know I could switch to a different option parser library (like Trollop), but I'm interested in learning how to do this from within OptionParser, since I'd like to learn the library better.   • WCF: 'Update Service Reference' hoses my files.

    Every time that I make a change to the contract of my WCF service, I need to have Visual Studio update the service references in all of my client projects. This process regenerates my client's app.config file and, since I have hand-tuned the "bindings" section of the file, I need to back-up my file and then restore it each time I have VS do the update. Is there a way to avoid this necessity (eg: have VS update the service reference without rewriting anything in app.config)? Thanks

  • Am I using EJBs properly?

    I am using a JEE6 stack including JPA 2.0, JSF 2.0, EJB 3.1 etc. The way my architecture is setup is the following: I have JPA annotated DAOs using hibernate as my JPA provider. I have JSF Managed beans which correspond to my facelet/xhtml pages. I have EJBs that handle all of my database requests. My XHTML pages have JSF EL which make calls to my Managed beans. My managed beans contain references to my DAO entities which are managed by EJBs. For example, I have a user entity which is mapped to a db table. I have a user EJB which handles all CRUD operations that return Users. I have a page that edits a user. The highlevel workflow would be: navigate to user edit page - EL calls a method located in the managed bean that loads a user. The method calls userEJB.loadUser(user) from the EJB to get the user from the database. The user is edited and submit - a function is called in the managed bean which calls a function in the EJB to save the user. etc. I am running into issues accessing my data within my JSF pages using EJBs. I am having a lot of problems with lazy initialization errors, which I believe is due to how I have set things up. For example, I have a Client entity that has a List of users which are lazily loaded. In order to get a client I call a method in my EJB which goes to the database, finds a client and returns it. Later on i wish to access this clients list of users, in order to do so i have to go back to the EJB by calling some sort of method in order to load those users (since they are lazily loaded). This means that I have to create a method such as public List<User> getUserListByClient(Client c) { c = em.merge(c); return c.getUserList(); } The only purpose of this method is to load the users (and I'm not even positive this approach is good or works). If i was doing session management myself, I would like just leave the session open for the entire request and access the property directly, this would be fine as the session would be open anyway, there seems to be this one extra layer of indirection in EJBs which is making things difficult for me. I do like EJBs as I like the fact that they are controlled by the container, pooled, offer transaction management for free etc. However, I get the feeling that I am using them incorrectly, or I have set up my JSF app incorrectly.     .NET provides a great library for working with SMTP for sending messages, however, there is not an implementation of a Pop3 client, or IMAP client for working with receiving e-mail from a mail host. Does anyone know of a good component that can provide Pop, IMAP, or both support? I know that code project has implementations, but from my experience finding a "good" one is hard.

    My main process(main.exe) initilaized COM library and created a thread which creates a new process(p1.exe) this new process is again initializing COM library and after making all references as zero unintialized COM here.. the unintailezed COM in the main process (i.e main.exe) also.... When i run p1.exe individually it is successful.. but it is crashing when i create a process for p1.exe from main.exe

    I'm trying to consume a hello world AXIS2 SOAP web service using a PHP client. The Java class is written in Netbeans and the AXIS2 aar file is generated using the Netbeans AXIS2 plugin.
