    Is there a way to give a domain user full control of their local drives at the Group Policy end? Specifically, my IT Manager wants the following: a) Desktop control allowed b) Full access to local hard drives c) Software Installation NOT Allowed d) Existing software Updates Allowed e) Install additional printers Allowed At the moment, our Win2003 setup does not allow users to do a,b,d,e - I wondered if there was a way using GP to enable these?

  • Network connection on Linux

    A general question about network connection on Linux : once a network connection goes into time_wait, is it still tied to the process ? Does it still use resources like say filehandle ? Reason I ask is because once it goes into time_wait, lsof does not report it anymore. I guess that means that the network connection is no longer tied to the process and hence does not count against filehandle limit. Would like to confirm though.

    The power is not shutting off my computer after windows shuts down. Windows shuts down and I hear my computer case "click" but the power and fans all stay on. This seemed to start after I installed the canon pixma printer driver and software from their website. I have uninstalled the printer software from "uninstall program" and deleted the printer from printers. I have even stopped spool service and deleted printer following this post, the printer drivers did uninstall. How to completely remove printer from Windows 7

Here is for what: Sometimes I want URL that I see on my desktop/laptop computer to enter into laptop's/smartphone's browser but unless I save that URL to .TXT file, email URL or save to Evernote there is no other way to directly do that. Something similar to autohotkey would be great, though I really don't care about all that extra autohotkey functionality. I'm just looking for text replacement that works seamlessly while I'm typing wherever I'm typing. I've heard that autohotkey runs on wine, but I'd really rather install something native to unix.     I am trying to make a live usb of OPHCRACK and tried to boot from FAT32 pendrive. But after making live usb and boot from it the ophcrack didnt work. After searching a while i came to understand that ophcrack will not work in a fat32 pendrive and we have to convert it into ext3. But i am getting hard time finding a method or software which can be used to convert fat32 pendrive to ext3 in windows 7. Can you suggest any method or software's for this purpose

    So far I used trap " call function" 2 fucntion { ./test.sh exit } but it never reaches the exit line and a whole bunch of process piles up any one got any idea? I tried & (bg) but i need to be able to keep doing it , the bg only allows me to do it once The point of it is when i type ctrl C it should terminate the original test.sh but it should also call itself before terminating hence create a new process.

    I would like to configure a task like "child control software", so it would hibernate the pc at certain times. Is it possible to prevent modification (here: pausing) of a task through requiring the entering of the admin password to modify, EVEN THOUGH the currently-logged-in (and only) user is the admin account itself? (Do you know of any child control software that does NOT require an additional account yet is able to hibernate the system at certain times?) Thanks a lot!

    hi, i have a few programs that check if file exist, and if its old version delete him and paste the new one. However under Windows 7 Professional i can't delete the file some System process is always restoring it (same with the dll files) and as you can imagine a lot of programs are crashing because of that behaviour. So WHAT SERVICE/PROCESS can lock/recreate/restore files? I have disabled System Recovery.

    In development, I'd like to have changes to my application propagate immediately. "MaxRequestsPerChild 1" restarts each process after a request, but if there are multiple server processes, changes still don't propagate until each process restarts. I've tried several different directives to limit the number of server processes to 1: StartServers 1 MinSpareThreads 1 MaxSpareThreads 1 ThreadLimit 1 ThreadsPerChild 1 MaxClients 1 MaxRequestsPerChild 1 Apache still starts with multiple (3) apache2 processes. I'm using the mpm_worker module

  • Start ProcessMonitor will unexpectedly execute another irrelevant exe

    Well, I have encountered a weird problem recently. Whenever I try to start ProcessMonitor, another irrelevant program (an IM software indeed) starts instead. In the end, the only way I start ProcessMonitor is to uninstall that IM software. I have tried ProcessMonitor on my colleagues' computers but none of them see the same things. So, do you guys have any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance.

Every example of this scenerio that I can find says to first boot into single user mode. What if my server is currently running in multiuser mode and I have no sessions open as root. How exactly do I order an orderly shutdown without root access so that I can begin the password recovery process?

Now I have a software whose extension is .ipa I am looking for a way to run this file either on Windows or on Linux.
