I have stored that combo values in to XML file by using XML writer... now i want to display tha datas in that combo boxes in form load event when form opns in run time... • php encrypting an integer to get only alphanumeric characters?

  When I use some of php's encryption functions, I end up getting a few characters I don't want (+, /, =). The problem is that my application doesn't allow these in the url. I'm wondering if there's a good way of encrypting an integer and having only alphanumeric characters in the result? I'm trying to pass some data through the url. I know it's possible to do some workarounds (put data in database and pass the id to the row or something), but I really want to try it this way. Ideas?

• string replace in file using C

  I haven't yet implemented this, I'm still in the thinking stage, but I have to go through a file and replace a certain string with another string. For example, <img src="/images/logo.gif" ... should become <img src="/proxy/www.example.com/images/logo.gif" ... Any advice on how I can approach this? Perhaps there exist some "string replace" C functions that would do this for me that I don't know about...? Right now, if I had to write this function myself, I would give it as parameters the file, string to replace, replacement string. Then I would manually go through the file and look for an occurrence of the string and recreate it. This, however, seems very inefficient. Are there better ways to do this? Thanks, Hristo

  Hi StackOverflow, I have a Java application that makes heavy use of a large file, to read, process and give through to SolrEmbeddedServer (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/). One of the functions does basic HTML escaping: private String htmlEscape(String input) { return input.replace("&", "&amp;").replace(">", "&gt;").replace("<", "&lt;") .replace("'", "&apos;").replaceAll("\"", "&quot;"); } While profiling the application, the program spends roughly 58% of the time in this function, a total of 47% in replace, and 11% in replaceAll. Now, is the Java replace that slow, or am I on the right path and should I consider the program efficient enough to have its bottleneck in Java and not in my code? (Or am I replacing wrong?)   Hi, in the Winsock2 library getaddrinfo() and freeaddrinfo() was only added in Windows XP and on. I know how to replace them in legacy systems, but a conditional use depending on the Windows version won't help. The application won't start in 9x with a message saying that it was linked to a missing export in WS2_32.dll. I'm using MinGW to compile and link the code and would like to keep using it. Maybe writing those functions by myself? Thank you very much for everything.

I need a solution that: Does not get messed up if */ is present inside <block_of_code> Is sure to generate 0 instructions in release even inside inline functions at any depth (i guess this excludes if (false){<block_of_code>} right?)   in these i'm playing with thread library and trying to implement some functions. One of the tutorial says that to run the program use : gcc -lpthread -lrt -lc -lm project1.c scheduler.c -o out first of all i need deep understanding of what is gcc doing in each line, lpthread is used for what? what are the contributions of lrt -lc -lm ? project1.c and scheduler.c is compiled together so what should i understand? i checked the code and any of them not included in project1.c or scheduler.c. as an output clearly it gives "out". secondly the author states that to run the program you have to use ./out number filename (For example, ./out 2 sample.txt) To make these clear as far as i understand the main function gets number and sample.txt as an input.(?) thanks for your answers and making me clear.

  Hi, we have a system where we collect data every second on user activity on multiple web sites. we dump that data into a database X (say MS SQL Server). we now need to fetch data from this single table from daatbase X and insert into database Y (say mySql). we want to fetch time based data from database X through multiple threads so that we fetch as fast as we can. Once fetched and stored in database Y, we will delete data from database X. Are there any best practices on this sort of design? any specific things to take care on table design like sharing or something? Are there any other things that we need to take care to make sure we fetch it as fast as we can from threads running on multiple machines? Thanks in advance! Ravi

• Get list of users belonging to a role using Authorization Manager (AzMan)

  Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role? The table to manage roles would basically be like this: Role User ---- ---- admin DOMAIN\UserName [delete] DOMAIN\UserName2 [delete] [add user text box] news DOMAIN\UserName3 [delete] [add user text box]

• MSBuild - setting a reference path

  I have several assemblies my project is dependant upon. These are stored in the Project's directory under the "Dependencies" folder. So something like this. Solution - Project - Dependancies FunkyAssembly.dll - bin - Debug - Release SomeCode.cs I've referenced FunkyAssembly.dll using Browse and in project.csproj I see <Reference Include="FunkyAssembly"> <HintPath>Dependancies\FunkyAssembly.dll</HintPath> </Reference> So far so good - except after a release build FunkyAssembly.dll is copied to the Release directory (not a problem in itself) but then future debug builds will reference this copy rather than the copy in Dependencies. You can see this if you at Path in the reference properties. This means that if Dependencies\FunkyAssembly.dll is updated the build won't pick it up as its referencing the old copy in bin/Release. Any way to FORCE the damn thing to pick up Dependencies\FunkyAssembly.dll rather than HINT?

  Is there any debugger that allows Python code to be changed while debugging? In other words: run-time exception occurs, debugger stops, I change the code any way I like, and tell the program to continue. I am aware of the problems with this approach, such that references to functions would still point to the old definitions if I redefine the function on the fly, and so on. I am ok with that, since I just want to be able to make small fixes in very simple circumstances. On the other hand, I'm also interested in whether it's theoretically possible to allow changes to Python code without running into these problems: i.e., somehow update all the references to the objects that changed, etc. I'm nearly sure the answer to the second question is no, but if I'm wrong, I'd like to know. EDIT: If my goal (changing the code interactively when an exception occurred, and then continuing execution), is achievable without a debugger - that would be good as well. I don't need to use the debugger.

  I'm writing some code that uses some unmanaged calls into user32 functions such as SetWindowsHookEx, etc. This requires me to use lots of constants that I'm not sure what their value is. For example, if I want to set the hook as a low-level mouse hook I need to know that WM_MOUSE_LL = 14. Where can I look these up? I need to know what WM_MOUSEMOVE, WM_MOUSEDOWN, and more are. When I'm dealing with interop code, what is the easiest way for me to find these? Is it possible for me to import them into C# so they will be defined?

• slsvcutil.exe Proxy and Interfaces

  Is it possible when using slsvcutil.exe to generate a proxy through the command line not to have the proxy file output the Interface in an Asynchronous fashion. For example, if I have a function "foo()" on the serverside in the Interface, when I generate the proxy using Slsvcutil.exe, it makes two functions in the interface definition in the proxy named "BeginFoo()" and "EndFoo()". All I want is "Foo()", I don't need the other two methods. Is this possible? I'm using the proxy with Monotouch which is why I need to use Slsvcutil.exe but don't need the Asynchronous methods.   Hi, The question is about Armenian. I'm using sql server 2005, collation SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, data mostly is in Armenian and we can't use unicode. I tested on ms sql 2008 with a windows collation for armenian language ( Cyrillic_General_100_ ), I have found here, ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188046.aspx ) but it didn't help. I have a function, that orders hex values and a lower function, which takes each char in each string and converts it to it's lower form, but it's not acceptable solution, it works really slow, calling that functions on every column of a huge table. Is there any solution for this issue not using unicode and not working with hex values manually?

  I am implementing a database application and I will use both JavaDB and MySQL as database. I have an ID column in my tables that has integer as type and I use the databases auto_increment-function for the value. But what happens when I get more than 2 (or 4) billion posts and integer is not enough? Is the integer overflowed and continues or is an exception thrown that I can handle? Yes, I could change to long as datatype, but how do I check when that is needed? And I think there is problem with getting the last_inserted_id()-functions if I use long as datatype for the ID-column.

  I am looking at some pointers on how to design a wrapper for these social networking sites. Ideally what I want to do is create a black box where I am able to create an interface for other libraries to call certain functions to interact with these social networking sites. I am planning on using oAuth for most of these sites, I already have this layer designed in PHP. The other layer that I need for these social sites is the ability to push and pull content. For example, the ability to pull feeds for users from each of these networks and then should I cache them on my end? how would I cache all twitter, facebook etc activity feed and be able to account for resync etc? The networks that I am looking at are: Twitter Youtube Facebook LinkedIN Vimeo Flickr I am looking for ideas on how to tackle this in php? Any suggestions, opensource systems that I can learn from?

• Porting a project to OpenGL3

  Hi everyone, I'm working on a C++ cross-platform OpenGL application (Windows, Linux and MacOS) and I am wondering if some of you could share some advices on porting a large application to OpenGL 3. The reason I am looking into OpenGL 3 is because I think we could benefit a lot from using the new "Sync objects". Nvidia has supported such an extension since the Geforce 256 days (gl_nv_fences) but there seems to be no equivalent functionality on ATI hardware before OpenGL 3.0+... Our code makes quite heavy use of glut/freeglut, glu functions, OpenGL 2 extensions and CUDA (on supported hardware). The problem I am now facing is that "gl3.h" and "gl.h" are mutually incompatible (as stated in gl3.h). Do you guys know if there is a GL3 glut equivalent ? Also, looking at the CUDA-toolkit header files, it seems that GL-CUDA interoperability is only available when using older versions of OpenGL... (cuda_gl_interop.h includes gl.h...). Am I missing something ? Thanks a lot for your help.

  Dear Devs I have a wcf service deployed on IIS with basicHttpBinding and aspNetCompatibilityEnabled=true I have a test client as well which invokes multiple service functions simultaneously. To check the performance of service call on client and server I calculated the Avg time it takes to complete a service request on client(in proxy code) and on server as well. after a test of 8 hrs (server and client were on the same machine) i came to know that average response time on client is around 34ms where as the Avg execution time on server is around 3ms so the difference is 31ms. I would like to know why every call is taking 31ms is it justified? and how can i reduce this?

  Long story, long: I am adding a web interface (ASPX.NET: VB) to a data acquisition system developed with LabVIEW which outputs raw data files. These raw data files are the binary representation of a LabVIEW cluster (essentially a structure). LabVIEW provides functions to instantiate a class or structure or call a method defined in a .NET DLL file. I plan to create a DLL file containing a structure definition and a class with methods to transfer the structure. When the webpage requests data, it would call a LabVIEW executable with a filename parameter. The LabVIEW code would instantiate the structure, populate the structure from the data file, then call the method to transfer the data back to the website. Long story, short: How do you recommend I transfer (copy) an instance of a structure from one .NET program to a VB.NET program? Ideas considered: sockets, temp file, xml file, config file, web services, CSV, some type of serialization, shared memory

• Looking for SQL Server Performance Monitor Tools

  I may be approaching this problem from the wrong angle but what I'm thinking of is some kind of performance monitor tool for SQl server that works in a similar way to code performance tools, e.g. I;d like to see an output of how many times each stored procedure was called, average executuion time and possibly various resource usage stats such as cache/index utilisation, resultign disk access and table scans, etc. As far as I can tell the performance monitor that comes with SQL Server just logs the various calls but doesn't report he variosu stats I'm looking for. Potentially I just need a tool to analyze the log output?
