• Corrupt mercurial repository - cannot update

• news feed using .Net Dataservices / OData / Atom ?

  Let's say I have an web CMS type application, and an EDM model with an entity called 'article', and I need to offer the ability for client applications, to a read/query the articles (and other resources stored in our database) a straightforward syndication feed of these articles to end users (along the lines of a simple RSS feed) It seems to me that for the first task, and .net 4's dataservice would be perfect for the job. For the second case, I'm wondering (a) whether atom the right format to choose - I think it is - and (b) whether it's possible to achieve such a feed using the same ado.net OData service. Stackoverflow itself uses an atom feed in that fashion, so it should be possible. Right? So I suppose my question is; Is there a way to make the ado.net dataservice Atom feed look like something suitable for your average news feed reader? - OR, am I using the wrong tool for the wrong purposes, and should I be looking elsewhere (.net syndication API's perhaps)?

  This will probably just be a simple problem and I am just blind or an idiot but I could use some help. So I am going over some basic guides in Rails, reviewing the basics and such for an upcoming exam. One of the guides included was the sort-of-standard getting started guide over at guide.rubyonrails.org. Here is the link if you need it. Also all my code is for my app is from there, so I have no problem releasing any of my code since it should be the same as shown there. I didn't do a copy paste, but I basically was typing with Vim in one half of my screen and the web page in the other half, typing what I see. http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html So like I said, I am going along the guide when I noticed past a certain point in the tutorial, I was always getting an error on the site. To find the section of code, just hit Ctrl+f on the page (or whatever you have search/find set to) and enter "accepts_". This should immediately direct you to this chunk of code. class Post < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :name, :title validates_length_of :title, :minimum => 5 has_many :comments has_many :tags accepts_nested_attributes_for :tags, :allow_destroy => :true , :reject_if => proc { |attrs| attrs.all? { |k, v| v.blank? } } end So I tried putting this in my code. It is in ~/Rails/blog/app/models/post.rb in case you are wondering. However, even after all the other code I put in past that in the guide, hoping I was just missing some line of code that would come up later in the guide. But nothing, same error every time. I do note that they are a bit out of date, but the default Rails install any of the school machines (an environment likely for my exam) is basically 'gem install rails --version 2.2.2' and since they are windows machines, they come with all the normal windows ruby gems that comes with the ruby installer.   In my tablayout example, i have created 3 tabs, as usually i set 3 activities for each tab. I can set image to title bar of activity, which adds the intent to each tab. Due to this, the image in the title bar is visible in all 3 tabs. My requirement is to set a different image to title bar for each activity. I followed this to set image to title bar. In the article it states that you need to annotate a Spring bean with @Transactional and methods/fields with @PersistenceContext in order to provide transaction support and to inject an entity manager. Is there something the defines a bean as a "Spring Bean"? Then I annotated the methods as well, but em is still null (no injection?). I was wondering if this had something to do with my bean not being recognized as "Spring".   First some background. I have a batch-type java process run from a DOS batch script. All the java logging goes to stdout, and the batch script redirects the stdout to a file. (This is good for me because I can ECHO from the script and it gets into the log file, so I can see all the java JVM command line args, which is great for debugging.) I may not I use slf4j API, and for the backend I used to use log4j, but recently switched to logback-classic. Although all my application code uses slf4j, I have a third party library that does it's own logging (not using a standard API) which also gets written to stdout. The problem is that sometimes log lines get mixed up and don't cleanly appear on separate lines. So logback must be doing something different. The problem seems to be that although PrintStream.write(byte buf[], int off, int len) is synchronized, however I can see in ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.ConsoleTarget that System.out.write(int b) is the only write method called. So inbetween logback outputting each byte, the thirdparty library is managing to write a whole string to the stdout. (Not only is this cause me a problem, but it must also be a little inefficient?) Is there any other fix to this interleaving problem than patching the code to ConsoleTarget so it implments the other write methods? Any nice work arounds. Or should I just file a bug report?   I'm getting no improvement in speed when using Ehcache with Hibernate Here are the results I get when i run the test below. The test is reading 80 Stop objects and then the same 80 Stop objects again using the cache. On the second read it is hitting the cache, but there is no improvement in speed. So when my coworker tests from her computer with another code, giving access to another place in the tree, she get's the same tree as me. (The tree is supposed to show your own level and down.) I have added a html-comment to show what orgid it passes to the function, and the orgid passed is correct. So either the treeview caches something serverside, or the sqlquery caches it's result somehow... Any ideas? I disabled the CssFriendly adapter and the problem persists... Stepping through it in debug it's correct all the way, with the stepper standing on "tvNavtree.DataBind();" I can hover the pointer over the tvNavtree.Datasource and see that it actually has the correct data. • What's the best way to refactor this Rails controller?

  I'd like some advice on how to best refactor this controller. The controller builds a page of zones and modules. Page has_many zones, zone has_many modules. So zones are just a cluster of modules wrapped in a container. The problem I'm having is that some modules may have some specific queries that I don't want executed on every page, so I've had to add conditions. The conditions just test if the module is on the page, if it is the query is executed. One of the problems with this is if I add a hundred special module queries, the controller has to iterate through each one. I think I would like to see these module condition moved out of the controller as well as all the additional custom actions. I think most would agree that it would be much cleaner if I could move that code out and refactor it to behave more like a configuration.

• Sharepoint RSS feed description fields as elements

  Hello, This is my first time working with RSS but I am fluent with XML/XSL. I have a RSS feed that I am pulling from a list in Sharepoint. The sample XML is below. The RSS description element parses the various columns (Body, Expires, Attachments) that are in the Sharepoint list automatically. I know that from the list I can control which fields are included in the description, but this is not what I am looking to do. Is there any way to force the fields to come through in an XML element format instead of the CDATA that converted to HTML? For example, I may want to check a priority field and if it is important when applying the XSL I would bold red it or something.   I have a War and Jar project in my Eclipse-based JSF project. • Dynamically change MYSQL query within a PHP file using jQuery .post?

  Hi, Been trying this for quite a while now and I need help. Basically I have a PHP file that queries database and I want to change the query based on a logged in users name. What happens on my site is that a user logs on with Twitter Oauth and I can display their details (twitter username etc.). I have a database which the user has added information to and I what I would like to happen is when the user logs in with Twitter Oauth, I could use jQuery to take the users username and update the mysql query to show only the results where the user_name = that particular users name. At the moment the mysql query is: "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE user_name = 'dave'" I've tried something like: "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE user_name = '$user_name'" And elsewhere in the PHP file I have $user_name = $_POST['user_name'];. In a separate file (the one in which the user is redirected to after they log in through Twitter) I have some jQuery like this: $(document).ready(function(){ $.post('phpsqlinfo_resultb.php',{user_name:"<?PHP echo $profile_name?>"})}); $profile_name has been defined earlier on that page. I know i'm clearly doing something wrong, i'm still learning. Is there a way to achieve what I want using jQuery to post the users username to the PHP file to change the mysql query to display only the results related to the user that is logged in. • Dual AJAX Requests at different times

  Alright, I'm trying to make an AJAX Chat system that polls the chat database every 400ms. That part is working, the part of which isn't is the Active User List. When I try to combine the two requests, the first two requests are made, then the whole thing snowballs and the usually timed (12 second) Active User List request starts updating every 1ms and the first request NEVER happens again. • Wordpress blog with Joomla?

  Hi, I had this Wordpress installation which was installed in a subfolder (not root). Like http: //server/blog/. Now, I installed Joomla on the root (http: //server/). Everything seems to be working fine with the Joomla part. However, the blog part is messed up. If I try to browse the homepage of my blog which is http: //server/blog/ it works like a charm. But while trying to view individual blog pages like say, http: //server/blog/some_category/some_post I get a Joomla 404 page. So, I was wondering if it was possible to use both Wordpress and Joomla in the same server in the setup I am trying to. Let me clarify that I am NOT looking to integrate user login and other such things. I just want the blog to be functional under a subfolder while I run the Joomla site in the root. So, what is the correct way to go about it. Can this be solved by any .config edits or something else? Edit: Here's the .htaccess for Joomla ... • Make wix installation set upgrade to same folder

  How can I make a major upgrade to an installation set (MSI) built with Wix install into the same folder as the original installation? The installation is correctly detected as an upgrade, but the directory selection screen is still shown and with the default value (not necessarily the current installation folder). Do I have to do manual work like saving the installation folder in a registry key upon first installing and then read this key upon upgrade? If so, is there any example? Or is there some easier way to achieve this in MSI / Wix?
