• Checkbox onclick not firing

  Hey Guys - I'm at my wit's end with this. Can anyone see anything wrong with this line? The function won't fire by clicking on the checkbox for some reason, but the calling function works fine (if I copy the exact "onclick" attribute over to the label for the checkbox, it works fine). <input type="checkbox" name="match_35_0" id="match_35_0d" value="d0" onclick="checkSwap(document.page_form.match_35_0d, document.page_form.match_35_0)"></input> If anyone can see why on earth this wouldn't be working, I would really appreciate it. • How can you get NVelocity to initialize correctly?

  I can't get NVelocity to initialize. I'm not trying to do anything complicated, so it's just fine if it initializes at the defaults, but it won't even do that. This: VelocityEngine velocity = new VelocityEngine(); ExtendedProperties props = new ExtendedProperties(); velocity.Init(props); Results in: "It appears that no class was specified as the ResourceManager..." So does this: VelocityEngine velocity = new VelocityEngine(); velocity.Init(); I can find precious little documentation on what the properties should be, nor how to get it to initialize with the simple defaults. Can anyone point to a resource? A lot of pages point back to this page: http://www.castleproject.org/others/nvelocity/usingit.html But this page skips over the (seemingly) most important point -- how to set the properties and what to set them to. I just want to load a simple template from a file.

• Ws-Security headers using Metro

  I have a web service which implements WS-Security but does not define a policy in the WSDL. I am able to consume this web service successfully using Axis 2 as client. I am trying to consume the same web service using Metro 2 but the wsse:security headers are not going. It works only if the service defines the security policy which is not under my control. I tested this by creating a sample web service and unless I define the policy my metro client never sends the wsse:security headers. Is there anything I am missing using Metro?

• ASP.NET radiobuttonlist onclientclick

  I've noticed there is no OnClientClick() property for the radiobuttonlist in the ASP.NET control set. Is this a purposeful omissiong on Microsoft's part? Anyway, I've tried to add OnClick to the radio button list like so: For Each li As ListItem In rblSearch.Items li.Attributes.Add("OnClick", "javascript:alert('jon');") Next But alas, it doesn't work. I've even checked the source in firebug, and there is no javascript shown in the radiobuttonlist. Does anyone know how to get this very simple thing working? I'm using ASP.NET control adpaters so don't know if that has anything to do with it. (I wish asp.net/javascript would just work out the box!!!)

• Enums for Build Flavor and Build Platform in Custom TFS 2010 Build Activities

  Are there enums available in the .NET framework that have values for build flavor (Debug, Release) and build platform (Any CPU, x86, x64 etc)? I haven't been able to find anything on MSDN or Google. It seems unnecessarily cumbersome to create my own. For context: I'm creating a custom TFS2010 workflow activity that requires flavor and platform info. Currently these are entered in the build definition as free-from strings. The default TFS build template has a dialog box (accessible in the build definition editor under Process\1.Required\Items to Build\Configurations to Build) that provides drop-down menus with this info pre-populated. I'd like to do something similar.

• Axis/SOAP service styles and interoperability

  There are four "styles" of service in Axis. RPC services use the SOAP RPC conventions, and also the SOAP "section 5" encoding. Document services do not use any encoding (so in particular, you won't see multiref object serialization or SOAP-style arrays on the wire) but DO still do XML<-Java databinding. Wrapped services are just like document services, except that rather than binding the entire SOAP body into one big structure, they "unwrap" it into individual parameters. Message services receive and return arbitrary XML in the SOAP Envelope without any type mapping / data binding. If you want to work with the raw XML of the incoming and outgoing SOAP Envelopes, write a message service. So, if I use anything else except the first option(SOAP RPC Section 5), how does this impact interoperability? If someone says they want a SOAP service (including WSDL), does this mean that SOAP RPC conventions are expected? Can the other three styles still be used when the other end is not implemented with Axis?

• SQLXML with Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008

  Hi all, I have an application that uses SQLXML to access data on the database. We have it working on a Windows 2003 server and SQL Server 2005. Now the client wants to install it on Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008 and we are getting errors like: Microsoft.Data.SqlXml.SqlXmlException: Class not registered --- System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Class not registered at Microsoft.Data.SqlXml.Common.UnsafeNativeMethods. ISQLXMLCommandManagedInterface.ExecuteToOutputStream() at Microsoft.Data.SqlXml.SqlXmlCommand.innerExecute(Stream strm) ... etc etc This is driving me crazy. SQLXML is quite an obsolete technology, and we are trying to use it with the latest SO. I can't find official information about SQLXML and Windows 2008, it seems it's not officially supported but they don't say it's not supported either. The SQLXML4.0SP1 installation seems to work fine, but it seems like it fails on runtime. Do you have any ideas? Has someone tried anything like this?

• jQuery UI sortable('cancel') - this.helper is null

  I am trying to disable a sortable element from sorting when it has been double clicked. When I try to disable it, even without a condition, it gives me the error 'this.helper is null'. $('.roundedBox:first', division).sortable({ start: function( event, ui ) { if( true === true ) { $(this).sortable('cancel'); } $(this).parent().data( 'sorting', true ); }, stop: function() { $(this).parent().data( 'sorting', false ); }, items: '.department', update: function() {}, placeholder: 'department-placeholder' }) Any ideas on how I can do this? I don't need it to be this method. Literally anything thing that stops it will work. The problem is, sorting starts on a single click, but I have another action bound to double click. If it's double clicked, I don't want it to drag.

• Installing .NET 3.5 SP1 on server broke WCF

  I installed .NET 3.5 SP1 on server which previously had .NET 3.0 SP2. Before install site was working perfectly. After install and subsequeny server restart, site displays but anything that makes use of the WCF service has stopped working. The exception log reports exceptions like the following when any calls are made to the client proxy: The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. The server's application event log gave the following errors after the install: Configuration section system.serviceModel.activation already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. Configuration section system.runtime.serialization already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. Configuration section system.serviceModel already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. which seems to be inline with the fact that anything WCF related has stopped working. I am not experienced in server configurations or WCF so looking for any assistance with this. Thanks!!   Hi, I am trying to develop a Silverlight 4 application using C# 4.0. I have a case like this: public class Foo<T> : IEnumerable<T> { .... } Elsewhere: public class MyBaseType : MyInterface { ... } And the usage where I am having problems: Foo<MyBaseType> aBunchOfStuff = new Foo<MyBaseType>(); Foo<MyInterface> moreGeneralStuff = myListOFStuff; Now I believe this was impossible in C# 3.0 because generic type were "Invariant". However I thought this was possible in C# 4.0 through the new covariance for generics technology? As I understand it, in C# 4.0 a lot of common interfaces (like IEnumerable) have been modified to support variance. In this case does my Foo class need to anything special in order to become covariant? And is covariance supported in Silverlight 4 (RC) ?

• jQuery getJson returning null

  I'm trying to use this api that lets you reference an exact text, but the getJson does not seem to be working, it's just returning null. $.getJSON('http://api.biblia.com/v1/bible/content/KJV.json?key=MYAPIKEY=John+3:16-18&style=bibleTextOnly', function(data) { alert(data); }); I just took the key out, i've been testing it with my real api key, and it works fine when i just visit the url. is there anything else i need to do to make it work? • Importing AutoCAD/Solidworks drawings/objects into winforms?

  Has anybody done anything like that? I need to import 3d objects, done in either AutoCAD or Solidworks, and draw them into a windows form. I only need the object to be viewed in 3D and moved around - no manipulation required. I am assuming I will need 2 libraries at least, one for a very simple 3D engine, and one to actually get what I need from the CAD/SW files. Autodesk has a SDK available for developing AutoCAD plugins using .NET, but I am not sure if you can use it the other way around - loading files into the .NET app. Any help, links, and ideas are appreciated.

• Cannot access MOSS site from within MOSS server

  I am trying to access my MOSS site through the browser on the web server itself. I am using the same URL that is used for external access to the site. When I hit it from outside the server, I can see most of the site, which has anonymous access, and can use a domain account to get into secure areas. When I hit it from within the server, I get prompted for a password, but no matter what I enter it seems to reject it and just presents another password dialog. Has anyone seen anything like this?

• Changing CSS on the fly in a UIWebView on iPhone

  Let's say I'm developing an iPhone app that is a catalogue of cars. The user will choose a car from a list, and I will present a detail view for the car, which will describe things like top speed. The detail view will essentially be a UIWebView that is loading an existing HTML file. Different users will live in different parts of the world, so they will like to see the top speed for the car in whatever units are appropriate for their locale. Let's say there are two such units: SI (km/h) and conventional (mph). Let's also say the user will be able to change the display units by hitting a button on the screen; when that happens, the detail screen should switch to show the relevant units. So far, here's what I've done to try and solve this. Here's the second problem. I'm not sure how to switch to the correct style sheet upon initial load of the UIWebView. • Access virtualhosts over LAN (Also in xpmode (Virtual PC))

  Hi, I am running Wamp on my computer (the host). I have set up several virtualhosts in apache and they are working fine when I access them from the same computer (host). I have installed Windows XPMode on my computer (which is running windows 7). XPMode (which uses Virtual PC) is set up to use a NAT network. The network in XPMode is working fine, and I can access the host PC via the IP address 192.168.1.5, just as I would if I was using any physical computer on the same network. I can view all the web pages at 192.168.1.5 and it's subdirectories. However, I cannot access any of the subdomains that are configured in the virtualhosts of the host computer. How can I access the subdomains? I don't think that the fact that I am using XPMode and am using a virtualized OS has anything to do with it, but I thought that it was worth mentioning.

How can I either force the rendering to wait until I've got the data before drawing to screen or have the boxes draw once we receive the data? I have an event listener for Event.COMPLETE for my JSON request and in there, I call methods that add to the control. I've tried invalidateDisplayList but that doesn't seem to do anything for me?

• "Executing SQL directly; no cursor" error when using SCOPE_IDENTITY/IDENT_CURRENT

  There wasn't much on google about this error, so I'm askin here. I'm switching a PHP web application from using MySQL to SQL Server 2008 (using ODBC, not php_mssql). Running queries or anything else isn't a problem, but when I try to do scope_identity (or any similar functions), I get the error "Executing SQL directly; no cursor". I'm doing this immediately after an insert, so it should still be in scope. Running the same insert statement then query for the insert ID works fine in SQL Server Management Studio. Here's my code right now (everything else in the database wrapper class works fine for other queries, so I'll assume it isn't relevant right now): function insert_id(){ return $this->query_first("SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() as insert_id"); } query_first being a function that returns the first result from the first field of a query (basically the equivalent of execute_scalar() on .net). • Checkbox not being checked when running function

  I have a checkbox that when it is clicked it submits the form to the server to store the detail. All works fine except that after the form is submitted I update a div to say submitted but the checkbox isn't ticked. The page isn't refreshed of course and upon page refresh it is ticked. I thought I might be able to check the box myself as I'm using jQuery but I have a lot of these checkboxes each with a dynamic name so I'm not sure how I would call them. I thought something like: $('input[name=("favourite" + id)]').attr('checked', true); might work but no luck. If I don't call the function on the checkbox being ticked the checkbox behaves normally. Thanks for anything that could help.

• Load ActiveX DLL in Internet Explorer with elevated privileges

  I have an ActiveX control that I'm loading with JavaScript in Internet Explorer. It needs to run as medium integrity under UAC in Vista and Win7. This is written in C/C++, compiled in Visual Studio. One way to elevate privileges is to create a broker process that can request a medium integrity level. However, for this project, this is not a practical solution. I really need the ActiveX control itself to run elevated. My question is: what's the easiest way to do this? Can I change the build options on the project to be an exe, and use the COM interprocess connect system to automatically handle the communications, or do I need to be more sophisticated? Do I need to do anything complicated like manually call CreateProcess and make some kind of broker, or can it just work as an ActiveX exe that elevates itself?

• Ruby/Rails display general screen when modifications being performed on server

  I have a ruby on rails app running a server and sometimes it needs to be taken down for updates/etc. As of now, one way I see to have a general display screen during update periods (when the app is down) is to substitute the files within /srv/www/ directory to just have it display a general screen everywhere that the user could possibly navigate to. I also thought of having a central controller file that connects all others (essentially a main) but this seems counter intuitive for rails. There are many external links to these different components of the site that the user could navigate to from outside and I need to make sure that they always receive this general update screen when the app is taken down for a little. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.... maybe a library or something like that, I can't seem to find anything online. any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

• Error: Expected specifier-qualifier-list before ... in XCode Core Data

  Hi guys, I keep on getting this error "error: expected specifier-qualifier-list for core data code im working with, in the app delegate. Now when i get this error and about 40 other errors relating to managedobjectcontext etc, i thought maybe the library needs to be imported. Now i havent done this before, but i went to Frameworks group and add existing frameworks and it added CoreData.framework. I re-build and it still came up with the error. Do I need to import anything in the headers explicitly or is there some other step i need to do? Thanks

  I'm trying to get a list of the groups that are in an AD group using .NET. As an example, I have a group called TestGroup and inside that group I have the group DomainAdministrators. Using the code below I can get all of the users including those from the DomainAdministrators group but not the group itself. • WPF: RenderOptions.EdgeMode="Unspecified" vs "Alias" override global setting with local setting

  Hello, in the ressource-tag of my MainWindowView.xaml I have this markup: RenderOptions.EdgeMode="Aliased" to get a general sharp look of my whole application. Using mostly rectangular shapes/controls this works fine. But for my validation error symbols I use a red ellipse with a white cross or "X" in it. The ellipse is using now the global "Aliased" settings what looks not good because I can see the pixelated border of the ellipse. Using now does NOT change anything ??? I always set in wpf local settings override global settings ?
