  • Using psftp to upload and download files

    Hello I am trying to upload and download files from my desktop to my server. Now after some search I did download psftp. I used to use filezilla earlier, but I cannot install it on my desktop due to a few reasons. Since psftp (similar to putty) is just an executable for file transfer. So now after going through this link http://www.math.tamu.edu/~mpilant/math696/psftp.html. I understood that put and get are two commands I would use to download and upload files. Now when I logon to the server and say get filename, it actually is throwing back an error "local: unable to open filename". I tried that with other files too, and I end up getting the same error. Am I making a mistake or is it a problem with this executable? I did not find relevant tags for this topic, could somebody suggest me the right forum for this issue.

The client should send it back so the load balancer knows where (which server) is dedicated to a specific client (the idea is that the first time the client get a server and the cookie identifies the server, then the load balancer sends the client to the same server for every call) Now, is there a way to tell to the plugin to enable automatically the cookie handling?

  • php POST and non-english language passes empty

    I'm trying to program a Hebrew site with a search option. I am using php 5 with Apache 2.2, on a Debian 5 (Lenny) with appropriate code pages enabled. I am using _POST to pass arguments to a script. If I pass English word to the script everything works, but when I use Hebrew nothing is passed through the POST function. When I use ECHO to show _POST, the variable is empty. What might be the problem?

I've looked at solutions like Apache Cassandra and relations databases but couldn't find a comparison where disk usage is mentioned. Any ideas on this would be great.

  • error loading (TypeLoadException) on asp.net/xsp/mono on debian/opensuse

    When i reset apache and load my website i get the first error below. I have no idea what the problem is. If i reload the page again (without restarting apache) i get the 2nd error, probably because the first error occurred and BaseUser is the first class/func that Application_Start uses. Why am i getting this load exception? Whats messed up is i tried using mono's VMWare img to debug it and i got the very same exception (until i restarted which now refuses to give me anything but 404 errors). However when i use mono develop to run the project the site runs PERFECT. WTF. Any ideas? Server Error in '/' Application A type load exception has occurred. Description: HTTP 500.   • Recommend an algorithms exercise book?

    I have a little book called Problems on Algorithms by Ian Parberry which is chock full of exercises related to the study of algorithms. Can anybody recommend similar books? What I am not looking for are recommendations of good books related to algorithms or the theory of computation. Introduction to Algorithms is a good one, and of course there's the Knuth stuff. Ideally I want to know of any books that are light on instructional material and heavy on sample problems. In a nutshell, exercise books. Preferably dedicated to algorithms rather than general logic or other math problems. By the way, the Parberry book does not seem to be in print, but it is available as a PDF dowload.

  • How can we best represent the SDLC process as a board game?

    I recently got interested in financial board games and saw how they can be very useful in educating children about certain concepts. It got me thinking whether it was also possible to represent certain aspects of executing a software project via a boardgame and make it fun. Here are a few things that I have come up so far: human resources and tools / techniques are represented as cards. requirements are also represented as cards, which are dealt equally to each player, and the objective is to move all requirement cards through an "SDLC" board (one per player) that represent a series of squares grouped according to phases (design all the way to deployment) the passage of time is represented in a main square board like monopoly, and completing a trip around the board (passing "Go") allows the player to move each of the requirement cards a number of steps through the SDLC board depending on the capability of the resource cards (senior programmer allows one requirement to move two squares in the dev phase, junior programmer only one, etc.) players will start with play money representing the project budget, and at every pass at "Go" is payday. the player is out of the game if he runs out of funds. the main board also has "chance" / "risk" cards, which represent things that can mess up a project. damage is applied at the roll of a die, and chance modifiers depend on whether the user has "bought" tools / techniques. I haven't implemented this idea yet as I'm still looking at more play elements that can make the game more engaging, as well as soliciting for more ideas. I am planning to release this under Creative Commons license but haven't decided on the exact license yet. Any more game play suggestions are welcome.   • iPhone: scroll view with arbitrary page/"settling" boundaries?

    Hi all, I'm trying to figure out if I can get what I want out of UIScrollView through some trickery or whether I need to roll my own scroll view: I have a series of items in row that I want to scroll through. One item should always be centered in the view, but other items should be visible to either side. In other words, I want normal scrolling and edge bouncing, but I want the deceleration when the user ends a touch to naturally settle at some specified stop point. (Actually now that I think of it, this behavior is similar to coverflow in this respect.) I know UIScrollView doesn't do this out of the box, but does anyone have suggestions for how it might be made to do this, or if anyone's spotted any code that accomplishes something similar (I'm loathe to reimplement all the math for deceleration and edge bounce) Thanks!

    First off, I'd like to say that I'm already looking into the "Cutting Stock Problem" algorithm, however I feel that I need a bit more clarification, and possibly some help with some of the math (Not my strong point). What I need to do is have an offset pattern that causes the circle to fit in the crevasse created by having the two circular dies sitting next to each other on the previous line, like so: O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O I'm hoping someone can point me towards the right algorithm for this!     I have a collection of objects, each with an int Frame property. Given an int, I want to find the object in the collection that has the closest Frame.   • Are there any purely functional Schemes or Lisps?

    Over the past few months, I've put a lot of effort into learning (or attempting to learn) several functional programming languages. I really like math, so they have been very natural for me to use. Simply to be more specific, I have tried Common Lisp, Scheme, Haskell, OCaml, and (a little bit of) Erlang. I did not like the syntax of OCaml and do not have enough Erlang knowledge to make a judgment on it yet. Because of its consistent and beautiful (non-)syntax, I really like Scheme. However, I really do appreciate the stateless nature of purely functional programming languages such as Haskell. Haskell looks very interesting, but the amount of inconsistent and non-extendable syntax really bothered me. In the interest of preventing a Lisp vs Haskell flame war, just pretend that I can't use Haskell for some other reason. Therefore, my question is: Are there any purely functional Schemes (or Lisps in general)?

    Hi all: I've been trying to obtain the Driver class for JDBC connection to MySQL. The workstation is running on Linux, Fedora 10. I have manually set up the classpath variable for Java by CLI like this: bash-3.2$ echo $CLASSPATH /home/cmao/public_html/jsp/mysql-connector-java-5.1.12-bin.jar This shows that I've added the lastest mysql connection jar archive to my CLASSPATH variable. In which case I cannot configure the MySQL JDBC package to let my Servlets(a JSP is but a Servlet anyway) work. I am not sure how to fix this issue. would it be better if I use an IDE like Eclipse or NetBeans and create a real Java "web app" so that everything can be "self-configured" by the usage of a web.config XML configuration file?   • Accelerometer Values from Android/iPhone device

    I'm trying to map my movements with a android device into an OpenGL scene. I've recorded accelerometer values for a simples movement: Moving the phone (lies flat on a table) 10cm forward (+x), and then 10cm backward (-x). The problem is that this values when used to calculate velocity and position, makes only the opengl cube go forward. Seems like the negative acceleration recorded was not enough to reduce the speed and invert its movement. What can be the problem? This is my function that updates the velocity and position every time new data comes in: void updatePosition(double T2) { double T = 0.005; Vec3 old_pos = position.clone(), old_vel = velocity.clone(); velocity = old_vel.plus(acceleration.times(T)); position = old_pos.plus(old_vel.times(T).plus(acceleration.times(0.5 * Math.pow(T, 2)))); } This is the X,Y,Z accelerometer values over the entire captured time:

    Hi guys! I am using Ant ftp task to deploy my project files to a remote app server. Ant is not able to detect the date of the remote file and it re-uploads all files every time. When I start Ant in debug mode it says: [ftp] checking date for mailer.war [ftp] Could not date test remote file: mailer.war assuming out of date. Jakarta oro site - http://jakarta.apache.org/oro/ says the oro project is retired as of 2010, but their latest distribution is from 2003! Please, can anyone help me with this? Any solution or any alternatives to the Ant ftp task? Thanks!
