  • UITabBar without labels (like Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone)

    I'd like to build an app with a tabbar in the style of Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone (that is, images with no labels). I can't see a way to do it with normal UITabBarController/UITabBar, and my current thinking is that it's actually a UIToolbar with a custom view controller that is pushing and popping views from an array to simulate the UITabBarController's default behavior. Is this the approach that you all would recommend, or is there something more elegant that I'm overlooking?

I tried querying the cookie, I tried InternetGetCookie() and a lot more. Code is appreciated Thanks jess EDIT I found that if you use InternetReadFile you can get that token. However that token comes out as an array of bytes. It's hard to use it later to send it to the server... anyone knows how to convert an array of bytes to pchar or string?

    I have a UITableView with a segmented control at the top. When you tap on the different segments, I want the table to reload with a new different sized array. I have tried everything including [self.tableView reloadData]. When you click on a different tab now, it only changes the cells that are out of view and does not add any more. Any ideas??? Thanks.

It works like a charm except when I apply a rotation to the movieclip. In my case the reflection is still visible but only a part of it. What am I doing wrong?     I have a PS file to be read in reverse order and process accordingly. Do we have a way to mention to read the file in reverse order in FD in COBOL module? OR do we have something to achieve the same using SORT? Note: Reading the records into a buffer (array) and using it in reverse order would be the first idea that comes to mind but that way doesnt work for file with millions of records.   • Squid proxy not serving modified html content

    I'm trying to use squid to modify the page content of web page requests. I followed the upside-down-ternet tutorial which showed instructions for how to flip images on pages. I need to change the actual html of the page. I've been trying to do the same thing as in the tutorial, but instead of editing the image I'm trying to edit the html page. Below is a php script I'm using to try to do it. All jpg images get flipped, but the content on the page does not get edited.     I'm sending a byte array to a piece of hardware. The first 7 bytes contain data and the 8th byte is a checksum. The 8th byte is the Least Significant Byte of the sum of the first 7 bytes. Examples that include the correct checksum. The last byte of each of these is the checksum 200-30-7-5-1-2-0-245 42-0-0-1-176-0-148-39 42-0-0-3-177-0-201-118 How do I calculate the checksum?   • How to stop UITableView moveRowAtIndexPath from leaving blank rows upon reordering

    I am having an issue where in reordering my UITableViewCells, the tableView is not scrolling with the cell. Only a blank row appears and any subsequent scrolling gets an Array out of bounds error without any of my code in the Stack Trace. Here is a quick video of the problem.   • Asynchronous callback for network in Objective-C Iphone

    I am working with network request - response in Objective-C. There is something with asynchronous model that I don't understand. In summary, I have a view that will show my statuses from 2 social networks: Twitter and Facebook. When I clicked refresh, it will call a model manager. That model manager will call 2 service helpers to request for latest items. When 2 service helpers receive data, it will pass back to model manager and this model will add all data into a sorted array. What I don't understand here is that : when response from social networks come back, how many threads will handle the response. From my understanding about multithreading and networking (in Java), there must have 2 threads handle 2 responses and those 2 threads will execute the code to add the responses to the array. So, it can have race condition and the program can go wrong right? Is it the correct working model of iphone objective-C? Or they do it in a different way that it will never have race condition and we don't have to care about locking, synchronize? That means, for example, faceboook returns 10 items, twitter returns 10 items, will the output of count will ever be larger than 10? And if there is only one single thread, how can the thread finishes parsing 1 response and jump to the other response because, IMO, thread is only executed sequently, block of code by block of code

  • Objective-C wrapper API design methodology

    I know there's no one answer to this question, but I'd like to get people's thoughts on how they would approach the situation. I'm writing an Objective-C wrapper to a C library. My goals are: 1) The wrapper use Objective-C objects. For example, if the C API defines a parameter such as char *name, the Objective-C API should use name:(NSString *). 2) The client using the Objective-C wrapper should not have to have knowledge of the inner-workings of the C library. Speed is not really any issue. That's all easy with simple parameters. It's certainly no problem to take in an NSString and convert it to a C string to pass it to the C library. My indecision comes in when complex structures are involved. Let's say you have: struct flow { long direction; long speed; long disruption; long start; long stop; } flow_t; And then your C API call is: void setFlows(flow_t inFlows[4]); So, some of the choices are: 1) expose the flow_t structure to the client and have the Objective-C API take an array of those structures 2) build an NSArray of four NSDictionaries containing the properties and pass that as a parameter 3) create an NSArray of four "Flow" objects containing the structure's properties and pass that as a parameter My analysis of the approaches: Approach 1: Easiest. However, it doesn't meet the design goals Approach 2: For some reason, this seems to me to be the most "Objective-C" way of doing it. However, each element of the NSDictionary would have to be wrapped in an NSNumber. Now it seems like we're doing an awful lot just to pass the equivalent of a struct. Approach 3: Seems the cleanest to me from an object-oriented standpoint and the extra encapsulation could come in handy later. However, like #2, it now seems like we're doing an awful lot (creating an array, creating and initializing objects) just to pass a struct. So, the question is, how would you approach this situation? Are there other choices I'm not considering? Are there additional advantages or disadvantages to the approaches I've presented that I'm not considering?
