    Hello. I want to estimate the noise in an image. Let's assume the model of an Image + White Noise. Now I want to estimate the Noise Variance. My method is to calculate the Local Variance (3*3 up to 21*21 Blocks) of the image and then find areas where the Local Variance is fairly constant (By calculating the Local Variance of the Local Variance Matrix). I assume those areas are "Flat" hence the Variance is almost "Pure" noise. Yet I don't get constant results. Is there a better way? Thanks.

    Hello I'm building a java application which works in a LAN environment, every computer on that LAN have this application installed on it, at some point i need this application to transfer voice simultaneously to all computer over the LAN (voice broadcasting) according to the following mechanism: Only one computer of the LAN can send voice using a microphone(the administrator) All computers receive that voice simultaneously (of course using my application) The voice should be recorded on the administrator computer after finishing the session. Could anyone give me an idea of how to use java in working with voice transmission? What java library can help me do that? Please help, thank you

    Hello! Does anybody know of any good tutorials that show how to configure FluentNhibernate for SQL Server 2005/2008. The ones I have found usually just use SQLite, but I would like to see one that specifically targets SQL Server 2005/2008. I really liked the sample tutorial on the FluentNhibernate website (http://wiki.fluentnhibernate.org/Getting_started#Your_first_project), but it looks like most tutorials I have found seem to only deal with SQLite. It would be great to see a working tutorial that deals with the more common databases in real world applications like SQL Server 2005/2008, MySQL, etc Thanks!

The errormessage looks not nice. How can i show errotext in the dialog box? or catch an error message after an ajax call? At the moment the error message looks like: error Status: 'CDbException'. Error code: 500 When i googled i found a event of the delGridRow function called errorTextFormat. Is this the event where i'm looking for? Can someone please give me an example of the implementation of this event? greetings niels

    Hello StackOverflowers, If I make changes to .bashrc, how do I reload it without logging out and back in? I'm embarrassed that I don't know the answer to this question, since I do a fair amount of bash scripting. I'm also couldn't decide if I should post this on ServerFault, but since I do more scripting than sysadmin, I chose StackOverflow; go ahead and move it if you (the community) feel that SF would have been a better choice. Now I've to execute "ant build-ext", following this tutorial: http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Setting%20up%20the%20Extension%20Environment D:\_liferay\ext>ant build-ext Buildfile: D:\_liferay\ext\build.xml But I receive the Message: BUILD FAILED Target "build-ext" does not exist in the project "ext".   • Calculate initial velocity to move a set distance with inertia

    Hello, I want to move something a set distance. However in my system there is inertia/drag/negative accelaration. I'm using a formula like this for it: velocity = oldVelocity + ((velocity - oldVelocity * inertia) where inertia is a fractional value like 0.25 So to move the item a set distance, I need to calculate what the initial velocity should be (I know what all the other values are). I've been looking at Equations of motion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equations_of_motion) but can't work out what the correct one for my problem is... Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hello everyone, I want to build a web app in JPA2/CDI (without EJBs) and i get how to code the different beans (i worked for some time on seam/jpa apps), but i'm stuck because i can't find a complete working set of configuration files (ie : persistence.xmln web.xml and stuff), and there is always a little glitch or something i miss. My goal is to develop a simple CRUD (1 or 2 pages) but unit tested, for future use, as a code base.     Hello All, I am very new to ASP.NET MVC and currently, I am involved in developing a new application in ASP.NET MVC 2. I am having problem in managing a long querystring parameters that comes from dBase. For example, in any non-mvc app the following URL works well: http ://example.com/test.aspx?first_name=fname&last_name=lname&email_id=email&address1=add1&address2=add2&city=city&state=state&zip_code=zip and so on. The QueryString parameter can be determined on the fly (i.e. at run-time). Now for dynamic QueryString how routing will be done? Also for a simple URL, the URL will be as follows (in ASP.NET MVC): http ://example.com/test/id/category But for above mentioned dynamic & long QueryString how the URL will look like?     Hello, I'm trying to send out mail using Google's SMTP in combination with PHPMailer, but I can't get it to work. This is my code: $mail->IsSMTP(); $mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; $mail->SMTPAuth = true; $mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl"; $mail->Username = "[email protected]"; $mail->Password = "**********"; $mail->Port = "465"; First I do not fully understand what should be filled in as 'SMTPSecure', some say 'ssl', other say 'tls'. Next for 'Port' I could enter '465' or '587'. But none of the combinations work... Note that I'm using a regular Gmail account and not Google Apps. In my Gmail account I've enabled 'POP access'. The error I get is: "Must issue a STARTTLS command first". Which means SSL failed, but don't know why...

    Hello, I'm using a Objective-C Scripting Bridge to communicate with InDesign CS3/CS4. Unfortunately I'm stuck on Save command which appears to be existing only as a part of the standard suite and not defined again in InDesign. Because of that it looks like I can Save, Save as but not Save Copy a document. Does anyone have any idea how to proceed? Just to shortly explain the difference between Save and Save Copy - using Save Copy the current doc doesn't change which is opposite to Save or Save as.

    Hello SO, I'm trying to convert an int into a byte in Processing 1.0.9. This is the snippet of code that I have been working with: byte xByte = byte(mouseX); byte yByte = byte(mouseY); byte setFirst = byte(128); byte resetFirst = byte(127); xByte = xByte | setFirst; yByte = yByte >> 1; port.write(xByte); port.write(yByte); According to the Processing API, this should work, but I keep getting an error at xByte = xByte | setFirst; that says: cannot convert from int to byte I have tried converting 128 and 127 to they respective hex values (0x80 and 0x7F), but that didn't work either. I have tried everything mentioned in the API as well as some other blogs, but I feel like I'm missing something very trivial. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I have developed a win mobile (v5.0) application and I use ONLY 1 database SQLITE with these references: System.Data.SQLite.dll (assembly version & product version : 1.0.65.0); SQLite.Interop.065.DLL (product version : 1.0 and is a c++ lib for first dll ). After 5 weeks of using of this application, I get today a weird exception and I dont understand what it is? Exception is: MissingMethodException Can`t find PInvoke DLL 'sqlceme30.dll ' at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.ReleaseNativeInterfaces() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.Dispose(Boolean disposing) ...... What`s wrong? Anyone know about this to explain me please? By the way : until now I delevoped 3-4 applications (1 year ago )using these references and everything worked fine.

    Hello everyone, I heard on Windows x64 architecture, in order to support to run both x86 and x64 application, there is two separate/different sets of Windows registry -- one for x86 application to access and the other for x64 application to access? For example, if a COM registers CLSID in the x86 set of registry, then x64 application will never be able to access the COM component by CLSID, because x86/x64 have different sets of registry? So, my question is whether my understanding of the above sample is correct? I also want to get some more documents to learn this topic, about the two different sets of registry on x64 architecture. Therefore, i created a folder "documentation" unter the folder "wiki" (same level as home.wiki) and added some .wiki files. Now i'm trying to display all these contents of Documentation/ as table of contents. Therefore, i added the line: <<toc Documentation/ 2 >> After commit and push my home.wiki page really shows a TOC, but it contains only the first file stored in the folder Documentation/.     Hello Experts, I would be greatful for help, understanding how long it takes to establish a TCP connection when I have the Ping RoundTripTip: According to Wikipedia a TCP Connection will be established in three steps: 1.SYN-SENT (=>CLIENT TO SERVER) 2.SYN/ACK-RECEIVED (=>SERVER TO CLIENT) 3.ACK-SENT (=>CLIENT TO SERVER) My Questions: Is it correct, that the third transmission (ACK-SENT) will not yet carry any payload (my data) but is only used for the connection establishement.(This leads to the conclusion, that the fourth packt will be the first packt to hold any payload....) Is it correct to assume, that when my Ping RoundTripTime is 20 milliseconds, that in the example given above, the TCP Connection establishment would at least require 30 millisecons, before any data can be transmitted between the Client and Server?     Hello guys, after reading this article "Slash or not to slash" (link: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/04/to-slash-or-not-to-slash.html) on Google Webmaster Central Blog (the oficial one) I decided to test my ASP.NET MVC app. For example: http://domain.com/products and http://domain.com/products/ (with "/" in the end), return the code 200, which means: Google understands it as two different links and likely to be a "duplicated content". They suggest to choose the way you want... with or without dash and create a 301 permanent redirect to the preferred way. So if I choose without dash, when I try to access http://domain.com/products/ it will return a 301 to the link without dash: http://domain.com/products.     Hello, I tried to set up a playlist with jPlayer, like this demo shows. You can find my code here. I've checked the playList var, everything is okay (it contains all mp3 URLs for each <article> element which represents a track). The swfPath to jPlayer.swf is correct too. So I really don't understand where is the problem ? Any idea ? Thank you. :-) Edit: I found the issue. The Jplayer.swf was not on the same domain as the rest of the code.
