    So I have this shopping list coded in php and js: http://www.whatcouldicook.com/recipes/planner So people can add, delete or sort the list and thats fine, I dont want multiple lists and instead just have a list item containing a heading tag to represent a new list. All this works and then using serialize I can save the ordering/modifying of the list. I don't know how to get the list contents however as these will be dynamic from the user. All the code is on that url so hopefully you can examine the code there. Thanks everyone

  • h:graphicimage not working in c:foreach

    I have used c:forEach loop for display the list of images using h:graphicImage. But I can't display the images. I have the h:commandLink also in my page. The image have to be displayed at the time of form inititalization. But its not working. But after click the h:commandlink, the images are displayed properly. Before that it shows the image not found text (alt message). I have used h:graphicImage tag like below <c:forEach items="#{Sample.imageList}" var="images" varstatus="imageStatus"> <h:graphicimage id="image" url="#{images}" alt="Image Not Found"/> </c:forEach> What I do wrong in that and how can I achieve that?

  • jQuery code works in Firebug, but not on its own

    I'm having quite the brainbuster of an issue right now. I am trying to change a link's hash tag at the end from "respond" to "comments" with jQuery. I have a simple script that should do this, however it does not work. The link does not change. However, Firebug shows no errors and when I run the code in Firebug's console, it works just as I intend. Why doesn't this work on its own? Does anybody have a solution, I'm at my wits edge with this one.   • PHP, manipulating images and thumbnails?

    I am using php and mysql. I allow my registered users to upload photos, the photos are store in filesystem format, then I will keep the original/max size of : width: 1600px and heigh: 1200px. In the user profile page, I would like to display the image, it maybe one of the 5 types of thumnails: 500x500, 300x300, 200x200, 100x100 or 50x50. What is the best way to create the thumbnails, here are my current solutions: I am thinking of create 1 thumbnail, then from that thumbnail, i will resize in [img src="" width="XX"] tag, alternatively, store the different thumbnails size in database, then get and display it Create 5 thumbnails for each photos? (I am afraid this is a bad way) Whats the best practices?

    I am integrating WebKit (via Qt) into an application. Instead of having WebKit retrieve scripts, CSS files and images via URLs, I want my application to provide them (e.g. retrieved from a database). For example, a "regular" web page may contain this tag: <IMG src="photos/album1/123456.jpg"> Instead of WebKit fetching this image from a server or the file system, I would prefer some kind of callback that allows my application to provide this image. How can I accomplish this?

    I have a SQL 2008 Express database, which have following tables: CREATE TABLE Videos (VideoID bigint not null, Title varchar(100) NULL, Description varchar(MAX) NULL, isActive bit NULL ) CREATE TABLE Tags (TagID bigint not null, Tag varchar(100) NULL ) CREATE TABLE VideoTags (VideoID bigint not null, TagID bigint not null ) Now I need SQL query to search for word (i.e. Beyonce Halo Music Video) against these tables. Which videos have: For Title exact phrase will get 0.5 points For Description exact phrase will get 0.4 points For tags exact phrase will get 0.3 points For title all words will get 0.2 points For description all words will get 0.2 points For title one or more words will get 0.1 points For description one or more words will get 0.1 points And I will show these videos on basis of points. What will be the SQL Query for this? A LINQ query will be more better. If you know a better way to achieve this, please help.

  • Setting a Global Doctype

    Is it possible using PHP (I was thinking may the phpinfo file or a php.ini file) or an .htaccess file to set a doctype for an entire subdirectory? Basically, in a nutshell, I'm using a software that uses XSL templates to output data to a set of HTML files. Modifying the xsl:output tag to include the doctype breaks the template and therefore, does not work. Just adding the doctype in the XSL file, breaks it as well. I need the proper doctypes in place for my CSS to function properly, cross-browser. I realize that I could add the doctype to the HTML files after export but, I'm really striving to automate this process. Any thoughts?

  • Programatically opening an xml file in MS Word

    I'm opening an xml file in Microsoft Word 2007 using C#. I'm using an xsl file to define the layout which worked up to the point that I needed to include an image. I used the typical src html tag and the image displays when the xml is viewed in ie but not when it's opened in Word. I get the image place holder so I can only assume Word simply can't find the image. It's sitting next to both the xml file and xsl file but that doesn't make any difference. To open the document I'm passing the filenames for both the xml and xsl. I would imagine that as the src is in the xsl it would just look relative to one of these files. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. [EDIT] Apologies I lost track of this one. I fixed it in the end. I'll check what my solution was tomorrow and update this.

    Many email clients don't like linked CSS stylesheets, or even the embedded <style> tag, but rather want the CSS to appear inline as style attributes on all your markup. BAD: <link rel=stylesheet type="text/css" href="/style.css"> BAD: <style type="text/css">...</style> WORKS: <h1 style="margin: 0">...</h1> However this inline style attribute approach is a right pain to manage. I've found tools for Ruby and PHP that will take a CSS file and some separate markup as input and return you the merged result - a single file of markup with all the CSS converted to style attributes. I'm looking for a Perl solution to this problem, but I've not found one on CPAN or by searching Google. Any pointers?     Is it possible to validate a form with PHP AND Javascript? I am currently able to do both using my existing form but only on an individual basis. My overall goal is this: Validate form using javascript client side and present any errors to the user immediately If javascript validation passes, a flag is created and then the PHP script can begin. When doing my javascript validation, i use the following code within the form tag: <form id="Enroll_Form" action="review.php" method="post" name="Enroll_Form" onsubmit="return Enroll_Form_Validator(this)" language="javascript"> if I want to process the PHP validation, I am forced to rename the action to the PHP_SELF file (or simply the same file name i'm using) and remove the 'onsubmit' function. Any ideas?

    I am trying to search the "this" object in an ASP.NET MVC 2 for a string value. In a view, I set the partial view input tag prefix and am trying to figure out how to reference it in the partial view itself. For example: Html.EditorFor(m => m, "templateName", "fieldPrefix"); In the partial view, I would like to search the "this" object for my fieldPrefix string to see where the MVC folks decided to store it.   • How to determine the inner context node within an XSLT select

    Hi there! I'm trying to determine a subset of nodes stored in the variable objs by using a user defined function cube:is_active: <xsl:variable name="active_cubes" select="$objs[cube:is_active(XXX) = 'TRUE']"/ Since the function does not allow a local context I'm required to pass it as a parameter (denoted by XXX). However, the usual suspects "." or "current()" do not work since they refer to context node of the surrounding block and NOT to the current element of objs which is evaluated. The only solution so far which DOES work is: XXX=SOME_CHILD_TAG/.. But this is really ugly since it depends on the existence of the child tag for the parent node to work correctly. Is there any other way? Thanks!

    hi I have a fairly large web application developed with GWT (and EJB). However on mobile devices (like windows mobile, black berry and such) the GWT start page remains simply white. I'm using GWT 1.6 and also tried 1.7 but nothing helps. It seems that the java script isn't executing and also isn't the noscript tag. Do you know how to make it working without rewriting the whole application in e.g. PHP?? I think it may be a general prob with GWT apps and not with my specific app. thx

  • What do you enjoy about programming?

    Some of us here(or is it just me?) enjoy programming. Even if we're not being paid for it, and in some cases, even though the end result will not do anything for us. For example, many people do the Project Euler problems just for fun, and in the end nothing was really "accomplished" materially. What is it that makes us enjoy programming? How is programming different from another job? You don't see an accountant going home to do some accounting on their own time just for the pure joy of it. How are we different? (also, if anyone has some ideas on how to tag this, then please do correct it for me.. )

  • How to count new lines in Internet Explorer?

    Hey, all. I'm doing my own syntax highlighter for Javascript and CSS, and I've run into an issue with Internet Explorer (big surprise). I grab all the contents of a code.block tag (example below) using innerHTML, and .split("\n") that result to get each line by itself. This works wonderfully except in IE. I have tried using innerText and .split("\r\n") also without success. Can anyone recommend a solution? If it makes a difference, my code.block tags are styled to be white-space:pre-wrap. <code class="block css">div#randomBarsDemo { width:175px; height:200px; } div#randomBarsDemo div { background-color:#111; width:100%; }</code>

  • Are table headers only for the top row in html?

    Hi, I always see the th tag only used in the first row of the table. Is there some specific reason why it can't be used to create 'left' headers along the leftmost column. Is this bad form, or is this ok. Basically, a table with headings on the top row and the leftmost column, with the very top left square being empty. e.g. <table> <tr> <th/> <!--empty--> <th>Top 1</th> <th>Top 2</th></tr> <tr> <th>LeftHeader?</th> <td>data1</td> <td>data2</td></tr> </table>

  • PHP code in drupal pages treating > as ?>

    While working on an existing Drupal site I've noticed a strange glitch that causes any PHP operator with in it to act like a ? tag. This is happening in in Drupal pages that I create that have a 'Input Format' of 'PHP code'. For example this line of code foreach($array as $key = $value){ results in a very broken page that prints out $value){ Does any one know what could be causing this? My Dev environment is XAMPP. Drupal version is 6.15. PHP version is 5.2.9.

  • Which video format(s) should a webapp serve?

    I need to put up a few videos on a Webapp and I'm a bit lost. My requirements are: DRM is not a concern at all it should work on the iPhone (and iPad) and on the main browsers (Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera). it is not a problem at all if the video doesn't play on Linux (because it's a video/screencast of a Windows/OS X software targetted at, well, Windows and OS X users) it is not a problem at all if it also works on Linux (I'm a Linux user myself) Can a unique format be served (like H.264) and play without any additional work on my part or do I need to convert the videos to different formats and have the webapp serve different video formats depending on the browser used? Should I use the "video" tag of HTML5 when I detect an HTML5 capable browser? What's the "safest" bet here? I take it that Flash is out of the equation seen that iPhone/iPad is a requirement.

  • Upload/Download files with ASP.Net using Visual Studio Web Server

    I need to upload image files and store them on the webserver, then be able to display them in html. I'm currently using AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory to get a path to read and write files. Firefox won't display the image as I just get an img tag with "src='C:...' Is it possible to read/write files like this with Visual Studio web server? I know it'll be possible with IIS, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to (pretty new to web development) I'm implementing this with ASP.Net MVC 2, but I don't think that is relevant.

Can be used outside of servlets (unlike JSP) Is flexible wrt. to where the templates are stored (JSP and a lot of people require the templates to be stored in the FS). It should provide a template loading interface which one can implement or something like that Easy inclusion of parameterized templates- I really like JSP's tag fragments Good docs, nice code, etc., the usual suspects I've looked at JSP- it's nearly perfect except for the servlet and filesystem coupling, Stringtemplate- I love the template syntax, but it fails on the filesystem coupling, the documentation is lacking and template groups and stuff are confusing, GXP, TAL, etc. Ideas, thoughts?   • Permissions error for a signed Java applet when including external JAR files

    I have a signed Java applet. And it works fine. But now I have to integrate some 3rd party JAR files with it. When I test it from Eclipse, the whole thing works correctly. But when I test it as an applet, it gives me a FilePermission error. I thought this was because those 3rd party JAR files don't have a java.policy.applet within them. But manually adding the policy file doesn't get rid of the error. What am I missing? Thanks! ============================ All the 3rd party JAR files sit on the server filesystem like so: A.jar, B.jar, C.jar. And I include them in the applet tag like so: <applet archive="my.jar,A.jar,B.jar,C.jar"> </applet> Also, in the MANIFEST/MANIFEST.MF file in my.jar, I include those JAR files like so: Class-Path: A.jar,B.jar,C.jar
