  • Can you detect if and excel find and replace is active during worksheet_change()?

    Hi I've just crashed excel using amazon spreadsheet to update feed. When doing find and replace [replace all] with 2 cells selected after the first replacement the worksheet_change() function finished with the whole spreadsheet selected. This meant that the replacements took place outside of the original area. Unfortunatly the replcement text included the find text and each replacement re-selected the entire area excel ran until it ran out of space then crashed. Pressing control-break brings up the vba dialog STOP/CONTINUE/DEBUG. DEBUG is greyed out as amazon had protected the sheet. STOP would stop one run but would then continue to crash. CONTINUE would switch back to the current change and continue to crash. Is there any way to detect if a find&replace operation is in action whilst executing excel vba? Regards John

  • [java] Threading socket handler for two sided communication in tcp port

    I want to make a chat which will be programed in java. one computer will host the server and the other one will initiate the socket [tcp port]. now from what I read there should be a loop that will constantly read the socket which means it will make the code stuck. I have a button that is 'actionperformed' on mouse release, I want to know if it will work along with the loops that constantly reads the socket so that it will also send the infromation I wrote. If I must thread it, I want to know if the run() method must be void because if I thread it it will mean creating a new class, and the whole GUI is one big class which includes a text area, and it's private. also how can I extract the information from the socket directly to the text area? lets say the textarea variable is called "chatOutput". thx :)

  • Setting 0 margin in header using LaTeX's fancyhdr

    Hi, I'm trying to define a custom layout for my report for which I'm using fancyhdr. On the pages which contains a chapter start I want my header to contain a colorbox spanning across the whole page (0 cm margins) although keeping my defaults margin in the text area. I can get the box to span across the "margin notes" area, but not the other side. Here's some of my code: \fancypagestyle{plain}{ % pages containing chapter start \fancyhead{} \fancyhead[RO]{\colorbox{NavyBlue}{\textcolor{White}{\raisebox{0cm}[1cm][0.5cm]{\makebox[3cm][c]{\textbf{\CNoV\thechapter}}}}} } Any ideas on how to do it?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 2 Route Request Not Working

    Here's the error: The incoming request does not match any route. Basically I upgraded from Preview 1 to Preview 2 and got rid of a load of redundant stuff in relation to areas (as described by Phil Haack). It didn't work so I created a brand new project to check out how its dealt with in Preview 2. The file Default.aspx no longer exists which contains the following: public void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { // Change the current path so that the Routing handler can correctly interpret // the request, then restore the original path so that the OutputCache module // can correctly process the response (if caching is enabled). string originalPath = Request.Path; HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(Request.ApplicationPath, false); IHttpHandler httpHandler = new MvcHttpHandler(); httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false); } The error I received points to the line httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); yet in newer projects none of this even exists. To test it, I quickly deleted Default.aspx but then absolutely nothing worked, I didn't even receive any errors.   • Manage widgets from page edit screen

    Hi there. I'm looking to find a way to integrate the widget control area into the page edit screen. For the site I'm making it would be perfect with the same drag and drop functionality. I want a list of the available widgets that I can drag and drop into the page widget area. The widgets will then only be shown on that particular page. I've looked through the wp-admin/widgets.php file and tried to use some code from there. I even tried just including widgets.php at the end of the post.php (which is basically what I want, but of course gave me funny results). Please don't suggest plug-ins like Widget Context or Widget Logic. Those are my fallback if I cant do this :) So I would like ideas and/or input on how to accomplish this. Preferably I'd like to do it in the functions.php file, or in a plug-in.

  • Architecture Suggestions/Recommendations for a Web Application with Sub-Apps

    Hello. I’m starting to plan an architecture for a big web application, and I wanted to get suggestions and/or recommendations on where to begin and which technologies and/or frameworks to use. The application will be an Intranet-based web site using Windows authentication, running on IIS and using SQL Server and ASP.NET. It’ll need to be structured as a main/shell application with sub-applications that are “pluggable” based on some configuration settings. The main or shell application is to provide the overall user interface structure – header/footer, dynamically built tabs for each available sub-app, and a content area in which the sub-application will be loaded when the user clicks on the sub-application’s tab. So, on start-up of the main/shell application, configuration information will be queried from a database, and, based on the user and which of the sub-apps are available, the main or shell app would dynamically build tabs (or buttons or something) as a way to access each individual application. On start-up, the content area will be populated with the “home” sub-app. But, clicking on an sub-app tab will cause the content area to be populated with the sub-app corresponding to the tab. For example, we’re going to have a reports application, a display application, and probably a couple other distinct applications. On startup of the main/shell application, after determining who the user is, the main app will query the database to determine which sub-apps the user can use and build out the UI. Then the user can navigate between available sub-apps and do their work in each. Finally, the entire app and all sub-apps need to be a layered design with presentation, service, business, and data access layers, as well as cross-cutting objects for things such as logging, exception handling, etc. Anyway, my questions revolve around where to begin to plan something like this application. What technologies/frameworks would work best in developing a solution for this application? MVC? MVP? WCSF? EF? NHibernate? Enterprise Library? Repository Pattern? Others???? I know all these technologies/frameworks are not used for the same purpose, but knowing which ones to focus on is a little overwhelming. Which ones would be the best choice(s) for a solution? Which ones work well together for an end-to-end design? How would one structure the VS project for something like this? Thanks!

  • Automatic VisualState Manager in Silverlight

    If you create a simple button and then choose Edit Template - Edit a Copy, Blend will automatically generate a style area, along with all the button states (MouseEnter, MouseLeave, Pressed, etc). No where in the code behind or auto generated style area does it say that on a "MouseOver" event, change the state to "MouseOver", but it still manages to work! Is the only way to change a button's state have to be done the code behind using the VisualStateManager.GoToState method, or can you change it much like CSS does (a:hover) using the VisualStateManager? From my experience, setting just doesn't seem to do the trick.

  • How to handle dependency files in a cross-platform manner?

    I'm working on updating an old app. It has some dependency files that live in the same directory as the app. Obviously this broke when Windows Vista came out (since it violates the API and Vista/7 now enforce that (XP didn't)). Ideally, I'd like to avoid hardcoding anything into the app for just Windows. I can live with that if I have to though. I've already been down that path with pulling the APPDATA and LOCALAPPDATA environment variables, but that doesn't help any since they just give you the current user area... I need these to live somewhere accessible for all users, and I'd like to obey the Windows API expectations that they go into the all user appdata area. Suggestions?

  • Hiding iAds when loading?

    I'm trying to make an ios app with an iAd in the bottom but lifted a little bit. It actually woks ok but when the iAd is loading it shows an white area just below where the iAd should be. When its done loading the iAd jumps up in the right position. I think normaly the button is loaded outside the screen and nthen pop ups when done but because mine add is liftet a little I can see the loading area... Is there a way to make the iAd load in the sides instead and then popin from the side?   • Google Maps API limitations

    I am working on a project where I am going to create a map over a specific area, and have some points-of-interest included. Thinking of the ones already included in Google Maps. My first thought was that this could be done in the Google Maps API, but I've never worked with if before so therefor I have some questions about it's limitations and capability. Can I limit the map to one specific area? Can I filter the points-of-interest? Ex. only gas stations and hotels etc. Thats about it to get me started at least. Thanks!

    I wrote a little Haskell program to find the area of a triangle, primarily to practice custom types, but it keeps throwing the following error on compile: areafinder.hs:7:4: Couldn't match expected type 'Triangle' against inferred type 'm b' In a stmt of a 'do' expression: putStr "Base: " In the expression: do { putStr "Base: "; baseStr I'm not sure where 'm b' comes from, so I'm at a loss here.   • PHP Session / Array Problem accesing

    Hello, I have a form that certain data, which then gets calculated and gets displayed in a table. All the data gets saved in a 2 dimensional array. Every time i go back to the form the new data gets saved in the array. That data will be displayed in the next table row and so on. I have used print_r($_Session) and everything gets properly saved in the array. Although i have no idea how to acces the session variables area, floor, phone, network etc wich are now in the array. Without arrays i stored them in a variable for example $phone , and did calculations with it. But now when i use the arrays, i keep on getting undefined index phone etc... How can i acces these variables, been looking at this for hours without getting any closer to a solution. Any help much appreciated. Regards.   • Inconsistent Routing Results in MVC

    Seems I'm still missing something to the MVC routing concept. I have a route that follows nearly the same pattern as another route in an area but for what ever reason I get a 404 every time I attempt to run it. I've tried to use Phil Haack's Route Tester DLL and according to that it hits the correct route (matched route comes out to common/itemhistory/{contentid}). When I try to run it for real, it blows up. I'm trying to map a call to a JsonResult by passing a Guid. I've had success with other routes working fine (common is an area in my site).     I am in a bit of a rut with a cURL issue. The post works greate, the data is POSTED just fine and received ok, but the url of the posted page never appears in the browser after the cURL session is executed, for example look at the following code: $ch = curl_init("http://localhost/eterniti/cart-step-1.php"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "error=1&em=$em&fname=$fname&lname=$lname&email1=$email1&email2=$email2&code=$code&area=$area&number=$num&mobile=$mobile&address1=$address1&address2=$address2&address3=$address3&suburb=$suburb&postcode=$postcode&country=$country"); curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); The post works fine and I am taken to the cart-step-1.php where I can process the posted data, HOWEVER the location in the URL address bar of the browser remains that of the script page, in this case proc_xxxxxx.php Any ideas how to get the URL address to reflect the page I am actually POSTED to?   • css position question: layers with z-index?

    hey guys, i have a probably rather simpel problem: my website has two layers: 1) a drag&drop navigation on top which should be positioned absolute, so scrolling doesn't affect the bars. 2) a content area in the back behind the navigation which should be scrollable. you can see what i mean right here: http://jsfiddle.net/Pghqv/ however now, i cannot click links in my content-area in the back. any ideas or solutions how i can still have the same position result and the links in the back are working? thank you very much.

    I'm creating an admin module for my client that gives then access to some administration functionality concerning their content. I'm starting off my adding some permissions in my module by implementing hook_perm: function mymodule_perm() { return array( 'manage projects', ); } I can then create my menu by adding to the admin section that already exists: function mymodule_menu() { $items['admin/projects'] = array( 'title' => 'Projects', 'description' => 'Manage your projects.', 'page callback' => 'manage_projects_overview', 'access callback' => 'user_access', 'access arguments' => array('manage projects'), 'type' => MENU_NORMAL_ITEM, 'weight' => -100, ); $items['admin/projects/add'] = array( 'title' => 'Add project', 'access arguments' => array('manage projects'), 'page callback' => 'mymodule_projects_add', 'type' => MENU_NORMAL_ITEM, 'weight' => 1, ); return $items; } This will add a Projects section to the Administration area with an Add project sub section. All good. The behavior I want is that my client can only see the Projects section when they log in. I've accomplished this by ticking the "manage projects" permission for authenticated users. Now to give my client actual access to the Administration area I also need to tick "access administration pages" under the "system module" in the users permissions section. This works great, when I log in as my client I can only see the Projects section in the Administration area. There is one thing though, I my Navigation menu shown in the left column I can see the following items: - Administer - Projects - Content management - Site building - Site configuration - User management I was expecting only the see Administer and Projects, not the other ones. When I click e.g. Content Management I get a Content Management titled page with no options. Same for Site Building, Site Configuration and User Management. What's really odd is that Reports is not being shown which is also a top level Administration section. Why are these other items, besides my Projects section, being shown and how can I make them stop from appearing if I'm not logged in as administrator?

    Hi. I'm building a webapp that uses jboss-seam with jsf, facelets and rich faces, running on top of jboss AS 5.1. I would like to add a portlet area where I could add my own portlets, but from what I got (reading forums and documentation) I need to be running a portlet container/portal (something like liferay or gatein). But I don't want to be running a portal. I just want some kind of control where I can embed a portlet (something like an iFrame). Is this true or I got it wrong? In this case, the _url is skip_contact_letter_url. contact_letter and letter are passed through a render partial.     Is there a list of reserved memory addresses out there - a list of addresses that the memory of a user-space program could never be allocated to? I realize this is most likely per-OS or per-architecture, but I was hoping someone might know some of the more common OSes and Arches. I could only dig one up for a few versions of windows: for windows NT,2k and XP that would be: 0x00000000 - 0x0000ffff - lowest page is protected to simplify debugging 0x00001000 - 0x7ffeffff - memory area for your application 0x7fff0000 - 0x7fffffff - protected area to keep memory-functions from damaging the following part 0x80000000 - 0xffffffff - memory where the system including drivers and so on is located Anyone know about for Linux, or BSD (or anything else, for that matter)?

  • How to make large List & Label template?

    We want to have a form which contains lots of fields one over another. All of them are passed as parameters to the form. There are many condition formulas which determine whether one element is shown or not. Depending on how many fields are shown the result will get a different number of pages. The problem is, that the designer will only allow us to design on on single page with a fixed height. But we need more space to place fields there, because they are too many of them. Is there a way to enlarge the designer working area? Sure, a possible workaround is to choose a large paper format when in dessiger which will enlarge the working area and then reset it to A4 (Standard paper format), but even this will not be enough for us in some cases. Does nobody know an answer?
