• Installed Perl DBI Module Can't Be Found

  I'm trying to setup a Perl development environment on my Mac laptop and have been having a really hard time getting it working. I thought I had everything configured correctly but when I try to run a sample script it is reporting errors with the DBI module and can't access the DB. Here is what is reported in the Apache error logs: [Fri Apr 30 23:11:33 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Can't locate DBI.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0 /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0 .) at main.pm line 5. I downloaded and installed both modules manually to work with MAMP using the following commands as specified in this forum post: For DBI 1. cd /Library/Perl/DBI-1.611 2. sudo Perl Makefile.PL 3. sudo make 4. sudo make install For DBD 1. cd /Library/Perl/DBD-mysql-4.014 2. sudo Perl Makefile.PL --mysql_config=/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql_config 3. sudo make 4. sudo make install What I noticed while running the above commands is that the files seems to be getting installed in the '/opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.9/darwin-2level/' directory which doesn't seem to be one of the search directories that Apache mentions in the error at the beginning of this post. I honestly don't know what option makes more sense and could use guidance on that as well. As you can probably tell I'm pretty lost at the moment. Please help!!!

• Module Adminhtml blocks not loading

  I was working on a Magento module and it was working fine. At some point, I was trying to enable WYSIWYG in an edit form 'content' field and suddenly, my adminhtml grid and edit blocks stopped being generated. On my system are TinyMCE and Fontis FCKEditor WYSIWYG editors extensions. I'm not sure what I did wrong but my adminhtml blocks will no longer generate. • Is there a better way to organize my module tests that avoids an explosion of new source files?

  I've got a neat (so I thought) way of having each of my modules produce a unit-test executable if compiled with the -DTESTMODULE flag. This flag guards a main() function that can access all static data and functions in the module, without #including a C file. From the README: -- Modules -- The various modules were written and tested separately before being coupled together to achieve the necessary basic functionality. Each module retains its unit-test, its main() function, guarded by #ifdef TESTMODULE. `make test` will compile and execute all the unit tests, producing copious output, but importantly exitting with an appropriate success or failure code, so the `make test` command will fail if any of the tests fail. • Terminology: Difference between software interface, software component, software unit, software modu

  I see these terms used quite a lot between various authors, but I can't seem to fix upon definitive definitions. From my POV a software interface is a "type" specifying the way in which a software component may be used by other softare components. But what exactly a software component is I'm not entirely sure (and it seems no-one else is either). Same goes for software unit, and software module, although I suspect that a software unit is a smaller, ahem, unit than a component, and a software module has something to do with packaging. I hope this is not deemed (and downvoted) as frivulous, as I have serious intent in the asking.

• How to keep asm output from Linux kernel module build

  I'm working on a Linux kernel module for a 2.6.x kernel and I need to view the assembly output, though it's currently being done as a temporary file an deleted afterwords. I'd like to have the assembly output mixed with my C source file so I can easily trace where my problem lies. This is for an ARMv6 core and apparently objdump doesn't support this architecture. I've included my makefile below. • Reading custom values in Ebay RSS feed (XML::RSS module)

  I've spent entirely way too long trying to figure this out. I'm using XML:RSS and Perl to read / parse an Ebay RSS feed. Within the area, I see these entries: 1395 1255 However, I can't figure out how to grab the details during the loop. I wrote a regex to grab them: @current_price = $item =~ m/\(\d+)\<\/rx\:CurrentPrice/g; which works if you place the above 'CurrentPrice' entry into a standalone string, but not while the script is reading through the RSS feed. I can grab most of the information I want out of the item-description area (# bids, auction end time, BIN price, thumbnail image, etc), but it would be nicer if I could grab the info from the feed without me having to deal with grabbing all that information manually. If anybody knows how to grab custom fields from an RSS feed (short of writing regexes to parse the entire feed w/o a module), any help / insight would be appreciated.

• Object/Module not found: RDS from VB6 app to a Win2003 server

  I have a rather legacy application EXE written in VB6 and running on a Windows 2000 server that uses RDS (Remote Data Services) to access a business object DLL (also written in VB6) running on a Windows 2003 server. The DLL has never run on this server (we're moving the component off the old W2K server), but it is registered and defined as a component on the W2k+3 server. The specific code where the DLL is being called is: Private m_rdsDS As RDS.DataSpace Dim oARImport As Object Set oARImport = m_rdsDS.CreateObject("ARBatches.BL_ARBatches", txtWebServer) MsgBox oARImport.AddBatches(m_vConnParms, arbParseString, LinesFromFile) The CreateObject appears to work fine, but calling the method AddBatches raises the error number 8209 "Internet Server Error: Object/module not found." I'm leaning towards the idea that there is a permission issue somewhere at the root of the problem, but if this were the case, why wouldn't it say "You don't have permission"? I'd really like to rewrite the whole app but "they" won't let me.

  In a project I work on we use a Python C module compiled from Fortran with f2py. I've had no issues building it on Windows 7 32bit (using mingw32) and on the servers it's built on 32bit Linux. But I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit on my laptop that I use for development, and when I build it I get a lot of warnings (even though I've apparently installed all gcc/fortran libraries/compilers), but it does finish the build.   Hello, all. I am inspecting the JSON module of python 3.1, and am currently in /Lib/json/scanner.py. At the top of the file is the following line: from _json import make_scanner as c_make_scanner There are five .py files in the module's directory: __init__ (two leading and trailing underscores, it's formatting as bold), decoder, encoder, scanner and tool. There is no file called "json". My question is: when doing the import, where exactly is "make_scanner" coming from? Yes, I am very new to Python!

After reading i noticed i need to add a flag -std=c99, not sure where it suppose to be added. How do I change the Makefile so it will compile through C99 ? Thanks!

  So I've decided to try to solve my physics homework by writing some python scripts to solve problems for me. One problem that I'm running into is that significant figures don't always seem to come out properly. For example this handles significant figures properly: from decimal import Decimal >>> Decimal('1.0') + Decimal('2.0') Decimal("3.0") But this doesn't: >>> Decimal('1.00') / Decimal('3.00') Decimal("0.3333333333333333333333333333") So two questions: Am I right that this isn't the expected amount of significant digits, or do I need to brush up on significant digit math? Is there any way to do this without having to set the decimal precision manually? Granted, I'm sure I can use numpy to do this, but I just want to know if there's a way to do this with the decimal module out of curiosity.
