• Login screen theme and background lost

  I tried to change my LightDM background and theme in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS beta 2, changing /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/com.canonical.unity-greeter.gschema.xml file (I don't even know if it would work, but I couldn't find any other way), and I failed and restored original file. Also, durning the same session I installed gnome-shell-extensions package, but it didn't work either. (I didn't remove it) Now my login screen looks a bit coarse, without theme and background. (It looks like MS Windows 95 a bit - square buttons and text fields) My question is, how to repair login screen (or how to customize it propely) and how to make gnome-shell-extensions work.

• How much to charge for Wordpress installation?

  I know this isn't properly a technical question but I hope this is ok here. The question is simple: how much should I charge a customer for a Wordpress installation & configuration? Configuration simply means I have to install him a theme (which is not provided by me), various plugins and maybe edit some lines of code here and there to make the whole thing work fine. MORE INFO I don't do this for a living, I'm just doing this for this single customer. He told me he wants to customize some features of the blog which I think will require a bit of code editing, but these will be small modifications, because I already told him that more substantial modifications will be billed separately. I don't know exactly how long will this take, but probably just 1 day for the setup and some more days to adapt the blog to the customer requests which will eventually come up later

  I hate how when I turn on the computer it just (after the hp logo, which I hate having also), shows white text on a black background. I'm wondering if there's easy ways to customize this (I'm choosing between Windows 7 and two separate Ubuntu 10.10 installs). I've read a little about some complicated ways to do this, but is there not some simpler ways by installing a package on ubuntu or something? I don't want to hack a bunch of code together to get a simple effect. I'm hoping for actual images and having like the windows 7 logo and ubuntu logo to choose from. Ideas?

If you have some JavaBean, like my Event class below, you can right-click it and choose "BeanInfo Editor": Now, as you can see above, I don't have a BeanInfo class. So I am now asked whether the IDE should create one for me. So I say OK and then I have a new BeanInfo class, generated from my Event class, as well as a multiview editor for visually editing the BeanInfo class: Thanks Eric and Nicklas from Artificial Solutions in Stockholm for pointing this out to me today. • How to shade a texture two different colors?

  To give an example of what I'm asking about, I'll use Saints Row 3 since I've been playing that lately. In that game you can customize your looks and your car's appearance a lot. Your coat can have a primary color and a trim color. Your car can have a primary color and a stripe color, etc. Is there just a single coat texture that is being shaded two different colors somehow or are they overlaying a transparent second texture for the trim/stripes that gets shaded differently? If it's just one texture I'd like to know how it's done. If it's two different textures it seems like it's a waste of space. The second texture would be the same size as the first one but mostly transparent if you just wanted to lay it on top of the first one. Or are they just carefully positioning a second, smaller texture so that it aligns properly with the first one?

  What is the effort required to use a game engine such as Unreal or Unity, etc. and create an avatar customization features...complete with clothes. The user should be able to customize the body features and the clothes need to then fit onto the customized body. What is needed? Can you create one set of 3D models for clothes and somehow programatically have the clothes adapt to the body shape? I.e. The same shirt model will be able to fit on a skinny person vs. someone with a big beer belly. How difficult is this? What are the steps needed to implement this avatar creation/dressing feature. I'm basically talking about something like in Rockband 3.

• Creating an install of Ubuntu to clone

  I work on a team with several other developers. We all have similar hardware and we all run at least the same base development software. We are wishing to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 doing a clean install. I am looking for a way to do a base install of Ubuntu, including all our common applications, then clone it to each of the developers drives and then let them further customize their own install. Some considerations would be giving the developer the ability to have their own person id and not the same as which the base install was done with. I know they do this on VMware installs and corporate installs of Windows that can then be customized, but I have not seen this done with Ubuntu yet. Thanks

  Authentication is such a general problem, which most websites have to implement. There are a few commercial solutions, but all lack sufficient functionality to customize the registration process. Therefore, I am looking for an open-source alternative. I am using PHP and with PostgreSQL as database, but as far as I understand one could utilize authentication solutions using other technologies and integrate them into our site in various ways. Therefore, I am looking for such solutions in any technology apart from those requiring Microsoft infrastructure... I know it will take a lot of time for major publishers to get on board but I am more curious about the technical side. What language/database model and framework are modern ad networks built on?
