  • Firefox jquery flicker bug problem

    This is possibly a really silly question but I've stared at this code way too long for it to make sense! I'm having problems with a flicker of the screen in firefox; It is related a filtering script... I have a website that is a one page vertical scroll; with different anchors to define sections and a smooth scroll script to make it pretty...   • Linq qurery with multiple where's

    I am trying the to query my Status Update repository using the following var result = (from s in _dataContext.StatusUpdates where s.Username == "friend1" && s.Username == "friend2" etc... select s).ToList(); Insead of using s.Username == "friendN" continously is there anyway I can pass a list or array or something like that rather that specifying each one, or can i use a foreach loop in the middle of the query.     If I have a strongly typed data table with a column for values of type Int32, and this column allows nulls, then I'll get an exception if I do this for a row where the value is null: int value = row.CustomValue; Instead I need to do this: if (!row.IsCustomValueNull()) { int value = row.CustomValue; // do something with this value } Ideally I would like to be able to do this: int? value = row.CustomValue; Of course I could always write my own method, something like GetCustomValueOrNull; but it'd be preferable if the property auto-generated for the column itself simply returned a nullable. Is this possible?

  • PHP - Get dates of next 5 weekdays?

    I'm trying to create an array of the next 5 working week days (Monday - Friday, excluding today). I know the working week varies around the world but this is not important for what I am trying to do. So, for example, if today is a Wednesday, I want the dates for Thursday and Friday of the current week and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. I thought this would work: $dates = array(); for ($i = 1; $ < 6; $i ++) { $dates[] = date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+ '.$i.' weekday')); } But for today, it is giving me: Monday 1st Tuesday 2nd Wednesday 3rd Thursday 4th Sunday 7th!     Hi, I need to extract the detail content of a website while preserve all formatting of the division. The section I wish to extract is: ... <div class="detailContent"><p> <P dir=ltr><STRONG>Hinweis</strong>: Auf ... </p> </div> ... My current solution is to use HTMLParser from libxml2 and xpath to find the nodes and walk through all the nodes to reconstruct this piece of HTML. This is a long an complicated code.   • Database.ExecuteNonQuery does not return

    I have a very odd issue. When I execute a specific database stored procedure from C# using SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery, my stored procedure is never executed. Furthermore, SQL Profiler does not register the command at all. I do not receive a command timeout, and no exeception is thrown. The weirdest thing is that this code has worked fine over 1,200,000 times, but for this one particular file I am inserting into the database, it just hangs forever. When I kill the application, I receive this error in the event log of the database server: "A fatal error occurued while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 64, output error: 0). Which makes me think that the database server is receiving the command, though SQL Profiler says otherwise. I know that the appropiate permissions are set, and that the connection string is right as this piece of code and stored procedure works fine with other files. Below is the code that calls the stored procedure, it may be important to note that the file I am trying to insert is 33.5MB, but I have added more than 10,000 files larger than 500MB, so I do not think the size is the issue: using (SqlConnection sqlconn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["TheDatabase"].ConnectionString)) using (SqlCommand command = sqlconn.CreateCommand()) { command.CommandText = "Add_File"; command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.CommandTimeout = 30 //should timeout in 30 seconds, but doesn't... command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ID", ID).SqlDbType = SqlDbType.BigInt; command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@BinaryData", byteArr).SqlDbType = SqlDbType.VarBinary; command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@FileName", fileName).SqlDbType = SqlDbType.VarChar; sqlconn.Open(); command.ExecuteNonQuery(); } There is no firewall between the server making the call and the database server, and the windows firewalls have been disabled to troubleshoot this issue.

  • manage.py runserver not working

    I am new to django and python in general, so pardon me for any simple mistakes I may be doing. I am trying to setup my first django project on my local windows vista machine. I have created the project successfully with no problems. The issue I am coming across is when my settings.py has values for my database keys, the manage.py runserver command is failing. If I have values in settings before I run the command, as soon as I run it I get errors. If I have already run the command and the server is running, as soon as I edit the settings file with values, the errors show up in my still open command prompt. The inner most exception seems to "Error loading MySQLdb module: No module named MYSQLdb". If I leave the settings.py blank, the command executes with no problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  • Looping an animation made with script.aculo.us

    I've created an animation using script.aculo.us. However, when the animation is finished, I want to have it reset all the objects and perform the animation again. I plan to just reset the positions of the objects manually, but how can I make the animations loop? If I put the effect declarations inside a for or while loop, it just crashes the browser. Any ideas?

  • Doctrine - get the offset of an object in a collection (implementing an infinite scroll)

    I am using Doctrine and trying to implement an infinite scroll on a collection of notes displayed on the user's browser. The application is very dynamic, therefore when the user submits a new note, the note is added to the top of the collection straightaway, besides being sent (and stored) to the server. Which is why I can't use a traditional pagination method, where you just send the page number to the server and the server will figure out the offset and the number of results from that. To give you an example of what I mean, imagine there are 20 notes displayed, then the user adds 2 more notes, therefore there are 22 notes displayed. If I simply requests "page 2", the first 2 items of that page will be the last two items of the page currently displayed to the user. Which is why I am after a more sophisticated method, which is the one I am about to explain. Please consider the following code, which is part of the server code serving an AJAX request for more notes: // $lastNoteDisplayedId is coming from the AJAX request $lastNoteDisplayed = $repository->findBy($lastNoteDisplayedId); $allNotes = $repository->findBy($filter, array('createdAt' => 'desc')); $offset = getLastNoteDisplayedOffset($allNotes, $lastNoteDisplayedId); // retrieve the page to send back so that it can be appended to the listing $notesPerPage = 30 $notes = $repository->findBy( array(), array('createdAt' => 'desc'), $notesPerPage, $offset ); $response = json_encode($notes); return $response; Basically I would need to write the method getLastNoteDisplayedOffset, that given the whole set of notes and one particoular note, it can give me its offset, so that I can use it for the pagination of the previous Doctrine statement. I know probably a possible implementation would be: getLastNoteDisplayedOffset($allNotes, $lastNoteDisplayedId) { $i = 0; foreach ($allNotes as $note) { if ($note->getId() === $lastNoteDisplayedId->getId()) { break; } $i++; } return $i; } I would prefer not to loop through all notes because performance is an important factor. I was wondering if Doctrine has got a method itself or if you can suggest a different approach.

  • Find common nodes from two linked lists using recursion

    I have to write a method that returns a linked list with all the nodes that are common to two linked lists using recursion, without loops. For example, first list is 2 - 5 - 7 - 10 second list is 2 - 4 - 8 - 10 the list that would be returned is 2 - 10 I am getting nowhere with this.. What I have been think of was to check each value of the first list with each value of the second list recursively but the second list would then be cut by one node everytime and I cannot compare the next value in the first list with the the second list. I hope this makes sense... Can anyone help?

  • How important is it to use short names for Python packages and modules?

    PEP 8 says that Python package and module names should be short, since some file systems will truncate long names. And I'm trying to follow Python conventions in a new project. But I really like long, descriptive names. So I'm wondering, how short do names need to be to comply with PEP 8. And does anyone really worry about this anymore? I'm tempted to ignore this recommendation, and use longer names, thinking this isn't all that relevant anymore. Does anyone think this recommendation is still worth following? If yes, why? And how short is short enough?

  • PHP ingore case sensitivity when comparing array values

The problem I am having is it is case sensitive and I need to have it return the correct value if the array values match even if the case is different. I don't want to change the case to lowercase because I need the value returned to keep its case. I'm a little confused as the best method to do this.
