  • Why is native libmpg123 taking so long on android with libgdx?

    - by cmbryan
I'm trying to use the gdx-audio extensions, but am having trouble decoding mp3s. It works, but very slowly!! A 10-second file is taking 6.57 seconds to decode :( Here is the method: public void decode() { Mpg123Decoder decoder = new Mpg123Decoder(externalFile); short[] sampleArray = new short[1024]; // read until we reach the end of the file while (decoder.readSamples(sampleArray, 0, sampleArray.length) > 0) {} } Can anyone tell me why this is taking so long?

  • A simple question about type coercion in C++

    - by David
Given a function prototype, and a type definition: int my_function(unsigned short x); typedef unsigned short blatherskite; Is the following situation defined by standard: int main(int argc, char** argv) { int result; blatherskite b; b=3; result = my_function(b); } Do I get type coercion predictably via the function prototype?

  • Windows 7 Missing Shortnames

    - by Aaron Bush
I noticed that if you get a Scripting.File object from certain windows files (Example: any wav in C:\Windows\Media) the Scripting.File.ShortPath property shows the long path. Curious I dropped to the command prompt and tried Dir /A /X and sure enough the short paths were missing from all the files in that directory. Anyone know: A.) What that's all about? B.) How to get the short path of a file that doesn't seem to have one?

  • Is the Google Annotations Gallery useful in production code?

    - by cafe
    I could actually see a use for the Google Annotations Gallery in real code: Stumble across code that somehow works beyond all reason? Life's short. Mark it with @Magic and move on: @Magic public static int negate(int n) { return new Byte((byte) 0xFF).hashCode() / (int) (short) '\uFFFF' * ~0 * Character.digit ('0', 0) * n * (Integer.MAX_VALUE * 2 + 1) / (Byte.MIN_VALUE >> 7) * (~1 | 1); } This is a serious question. Could this be used in an actual code review?

  • C++ beginner question regarding chars

    - by Samwhoo
    I'm just messing around with some C++ at the moment trying to make a simple tic-tac-toe game and I'm running into a bit of a problem. This is my code: #include <iostream> using namespace std; class Square { public: char getState() const; void setState(char); Square(); ~Square(); private: char * pState; }; class Board { public: Board(); ~Board(); void printBoard() const; Square getSquare(short x, short y) const; private: Square board[3][3]; }; int main() { Board board; board.getSquare(1,2).setState('1'); board.printBoard(); return 0; } Square::Square() { pState = new char; *pState = ' '; } Square::~Square() { delete pState; } char Square::getState() const { return *pState; } void Square::setState(char set) { *pState = set; } Board::~Board() { } Board::Board() { } void Board::printBoard() const { for (int x = 0; x < 3; x++) { cout << "|"; for (int y = 0; y < 3; y++) { cout << board[x][y].getState(); } cout << "|" << endl; } } Square Board::getSquare(short x, short y) const { return board[x][y]; } Forgive me if there are blatantly obvious problems with it or it's stupidly written, this is my first program in C++ :p However, the problem is that when I try and set the square 1,2 to the char '1', it doesn't print out as a 1, it prints out as some strange character I didn't recognise. Can anyone tell me why? :) Thanks in advance.

  • Why can't your switch statement data type be long Java?

    - by Fostah
Here's an excerpt from Sun's Java tutorials: A switch works with the byte, short, char, and int primitive data types. It also works with enumerated types (discussed in Classes and Inheritance) and a few special classes that "wrap" certain primitive types: Character, Byte, Short, and Integer (discussed in Simple Data Objects ). There must be a good reason why the long primitive data type is not allowed. Anyone know what it is?

Would be really nice to have a short example every day to enhance Clojure skills and to get inspired to delve deeper into the language. Clojure really lends itself well for short but powerful code.

  • XNA 4.0 draw a cube with DrawUserIndexedPrimitives method [on hold]

    - by Leggy7
EDIT Since I read what Mark H suggested (thanks a lot, I found it very useful) I think my question can become clearer structured this way: Using XNA 4.0, I'm trying to draw a cube. Im using this method: GraphicsDevice.DrawUserIndexedPrimitives<VertexPositionColor>( PrimitiveType.LineList, primitiveList, 0, // vertex buffer offset to add to each element of the index buffer 8, // number of vertices in pointList lineListIndices, // the index buffer 0, // first index element to read 7 // number of primitives to draw ); I got the code sample from this page which simply draw a serie of triangles. I want to modify this code in order to draw a cube. I was able to slitghly move the camera so I can have the perception of solidity, I set the vertex array to contain the 8 points defining a cube. But I can't fully understand how many primitives I have to draw (last parameter) for each of PrimitiveType. So, I wasn't able to draw the cube (just some of the edges in a non-defined order). More in detail: to build the vertex index list, the sample used // Initialize an array of indices of type short. lineListIndices = new short[(points * 2) - 2]; // Populate the array with references to indices in the vertex buffer for (int i = 0; i < points - 1; i++) { lineListIndices[i * 2] = (short)(i); lineListIndices[(i * 2) + 1] = (short)(i + 1); } I'm ashamed to say I cannot do the same in the case of a cube. what has to be the size of the lineListIndices? how should I populate it? In which order? And how do these things change when I use a different PrimitiveType? In the code sample there are also another couple of calls which I cannot fully understand, which are: // Initialize the vertex buffer, allocating memory for each vertex. vertexBuffer = new VertexBuffer(graphics.GraphicsDevice, vertexDeclaration, points, BufferUsage.None); // Set the vertex buffer data to the array of vertices. vertexBuffer.SetData<VertexPositionColor>(pointList); and vertexDeclaration = new VertexDeclaration(new VertexElement[] { new VertexElement(0, VertexElementFormat.Vector3, VertexElementUsage.Position, 0), new VertexElement(12, VertexElementFormat.Color, VertexElementUsage.Color, 0) } ); that is, for VertexBuffer and VertexDeclaration I could not find and significant (monkey-like) guide. I reported them too because I think they could be involded in understanding things. I think I also have to understand something related to the order the vertexes are stored in the array. But actually I have no clue of what I should learn to have this function drawing a cube. So, if anybody could point me to the right direction, it wil be appreciated. Hope to have made myself clear this time

  • Bypass BIOS password set by faulty Toshiba firmware on Satellite A55 laptop?

    - by Brian
How can the CMOS be cleared on the Toshiba Satellite A55-S1065? I have this 7 year old laptop that has been crippled by a glitch in its BIOS: 'A "Password =" prompt may be displayed when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. The computer will be unusable until this problem is resolved. [..] The occurrence of this problem on any particular computer is unpredictable -- it may never happen, but it could happen any time that the computer is turned on. [..] Toshiba will cover the cost of this repair under warranty until Dec 31, 2010.' -Toshiba As they stated, this machine is "unusable." The escape key does not bypass the prompt (nor does any other key), thus no operating system can be booted and no firmware updates can be installed. After doing some research, I found solutions that have been suggested for various Toshiba Satellite models afflicted by this glitch: "Make arrangements with a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider to have this problem resolved." -Toshiba (same link). Even prior to the expiration of Toshiba's support ("repair under warranty until Dec 31, 2010"), there have been reports that this solution is prohibitively expensive, labor charges accruing even when the laptop is still under warranty, and other reports that are generally discouraging: "They were unable to fix it and the guy who worked on it said he couldn’t find the jumpers on the motherboard to clear the BIOS. I paid $39 for my troubles and still have the password problem." - Steve. Since the costs of the repairs can now exceed the value of the hardware, it would seem this is a DIY solution, or a non-solution (i.e. the hardware is trash). Build a Toshiba parallel loopback by stripping and soldering the wires on a DB25 plug to connect connect these pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, 18-25. -CGSecurity. According to a list of supported models on pwcrack, this will likely not work for my Satellite A55-1065 (as well as many other models of similar age). -pwcrack Disconnect the laptop battery for an extended period of time. Doesn't work, laptop sat in a closet for several years without the battery connected and I forgot about the whole thing for awhile. The poor thing. Clear CMOS by setting the proper jumper setting or by removing the CMOS (RTC) battery, or by short circuiting a (hidden?) jumper that looks like a pair of solder marks -various sources for various Satellite models: Satellite A105: "you will see C88 clearly labeled right next the jack that the wireless card plugs into. There are two little solder squares (approx 1/16") at this location" -kerneltrap Satellite 1800: "Underneath the RAM there is black sticker, peel off the black sticker and you will reveal two little solder marks which are actually 'jumpers'. Very carefully hold a flat-head screwdriver touching both points and power on the unit briefly, effectively 'shorting' this circuit." -shadowfax2020 Satellite L300: "Short the B500 solder pads on the system board." -Lester Escobar Satellite A215: "Short the B500 solder pads on the system board." -fixya Clearing the CMOS could resolve the issue, but I cannot locate a jumper or a battery on this board. Nothing that looks remotely like a battery can be removed (everything is soldered). I have looked closely at the area around the memory and do not see any obvious solder pads that could be a secret jumper. Here are pictures (click for full resolution) : Where is the jumper (or solder pads) to short circuit and wipe the CMOS on this board? Possibly related questions: Remove Toshiba laptop BIOS password? • Android 1.6: "android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is no

    - by Dan Monego
I'm trying to open a dialog window, but every time I try to open it it throws this exception: E/AndroidRuntime( 206): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception E/AndroidRuntime( 206): android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is not for an application E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.view.ViewRoot.setView(ViewRoot.java:460) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.view.WindowManagerImpl.addView(WindowManagerImpl.java:177) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.view.WindowManagerImpl.addView(WindowManagerImpl.java:91) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.app.Dialog.show(Dialog.java:238) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.app.Activity.showDialog(Activity.java:2413) I'm creating it by calling showDialog with the display's id. The onCreateDialog handler logs fine and I can step through it without an issue, but I've attached since it seems like I'm missing something in it: @Override public Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { Dialog dialog; Context appContext = this.getApplicationContext(); switch(id) { case RENAME_DIALOG_ID: Log.i("Edit", "Creating rename dialog..."); dialog = new Dialog(appContext); dialog.setContentView(R.layout.rename); dialog.setTitle("Rename " + noteName); break; default: dialog = null; break; } return dialog; } Is there something missing from this? Some questions have talked about having this problem when creating a dialog from onCreate, which happen because the activity isn't created yet, but this is coming from a call from a menu object, and the appContext variable seems like it is correctly populated in the debugger.

  • DataContractJsonSerializer ReadObject Exception

  • com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: Auth cancel

It works great when I use a password (the names xxxx'd out for privacy): <project default="main"> <target name="main"> <sshsession host="xxxx" username="xxxx" password="xxxx"> <LocalTunnel lport="1080" rhost="xxxx" rport="80"/> <sequential> <get src="http://localhost:1080/xxxx" dest="/tmp/xxxx"/> </sequential> </sshsession> </target> </project> But it doesn't work when I use a keyfile, like this: <sshsession host="xxxx" username="xxxx" keyfile="/Users/xxxx/.ssh/id_dsa" passphrase="xxxx"> <LocalTunnel lport="1080" rhost="xxxx" rport="80"/> <sequential> <get src="http://localhost:1080/xxxx" dest="/tmp/xxxx"/> </sequential> </sshsession> I get this exception: /tmp/build.xml:8: com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: Auth cancel at com.jcraft.jsch.Session.connect(Session.java:451) at com.jcraft.jsch.Session.connect(Session.java:150) at org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.optional.ssh.SSHBase.openSession(SSHBase.java:223) I'm sure I'm using the correct keyfile (I've tried using the wrong name, which gives a legitimate FileNotFoundException). I can successfully ssh from the command line without being prompted for a password. I'm sure I'm using the correct passphrase for the keyfile. What's the cause of this error and what can I do about it?

  • Xcode "Build and Archive" from command line

    - by Dan Fabulich
Xcode 3.2 provides an awesome new feature under the Build menu, "Build and Archive" which generates an .ipa file suitable for Ad Hoc distribution. You can also open the Organizer, go to "Archived Applications," and "Submit Application to iTunesConnect." Is there a way to use "Build and Archive" from the command line (as part of a build script)? I'd assume that xcodebuild would be involved somehow, but the man page doesn't seem to say anything about this.

  • MVVM: How to handle interaction between nested ViewModels?

    - by Dan Bryant
I'm been experimenting with the oft-mentioned MVVM pattern and I've been having a hard time defining clear boundaries in some cases. In my application, I have a dialog that allows me to create a Connection to a Controller. There is a ViewModel class for the dialog, which is simple enough. However, the dialog also hosts an additional control (chosen by a ContentTemplateSelector), which varies depending on the particular type of Controller that's being connected. This control has its own ViewModel. The issue I'm encountering is that, when I close the dialog by pressing OK, I need to actually create the requested connection, which requires information captured in the inner Controller-specific ViewModel class. It's tempting to simply have all of the Controller-specific ViewModel classes implement a common interface that constructs the connection, but should the inner ViewModel really be in charge of this construction? My general question is: are there are any generally-accepted design patterns for how ViewModels should interact with eachother, particularly when a 'parent' VM needs help from a 'child' VM in order to know what to do?

  • XamlParseException using Silverlight Toolkit control in Expression Blend

    - by Dan Auclair
I am having a strange issue opening up my UserControl in Expression Blend when using a Silverlight Toolkit control. My UserControl uses the toolkit's ListBoxDragDropTarget as follows: <controlsToolkit:ListBoxDragDropTarget mswindows:DragDrop.AllowDrop="True" HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch" VerticalContentAlignment="Stretch"> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding MyItemControls}" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Disabled"> <ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <controlsToolkit:WrapPanel/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ListBox.ItemsPanel> </ListBox> </controlsToolkit:ListBoxDragDropTarget> Everything works as expected at runtime and looks fine in Visual Studio 2008. However, when I try to open my UserControl in Blend I get XamlParseException: [Line: 0 Position: 0] and I can not see anything in the design view. More specifically Blend complains: The element "ListBoxDragDropTarget" could not be displayed because of a problem with System.Windows.Controls.ListBoxDragDropTarget: TargetType mismatch. My silverlight application is referencing System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit from the Nov. 2009 toolkit release, and I've made sure to include these namespace declarations for the ListBoxDragDropTarget: xmlns:controlsToolkit="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit" xmlns:mswindows="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit" If I comment out the ListBoxDragDropTarget control wrapper and just leave the ListBox I can see everything fine in the design view without errors. Furthermore, I realized this is happening with a variety of Silverlight Toolkit controls because if I comment out ListBoxDragDropTarget and replace it with <controlsToolkit:BusyIndicator /> the same exact error occurs in Blend. What is even weirder is that if I start a brand new silverlight application in blend I can add these toolkit elements without any kind of error, so it seems like something dumb that is happening with my project references to the toolkit assemblies. I'm pretty sure this has something to do with loading the default styles for the toolkit controls from its generic.xaml, since the error has to do with the TargetType and Blend is probably trying to load up the default styles. Has anyone encountered this issue before or have any ideas as to what may be my problem?

  • How do I get preferences to work in Android?

    - by Dan T
I've really been struggling through this. New to Java/Android. I'm writing my first app and this is the first thing that has taken me longer than a couple days of searching to figure out. Here's the setup: It's a BAC calculator / drink counter: A formula is used to calculate the BAC. Here's the forumla: Bac = ((StandardDrinks / 2) * (GenderConstant / Weight)) - (0.017 * Hours); So as you can see, being able to modify the gender and weight will produce more accurate and personalized results. So I have them as doubles: double GenderConstant = 7.5; //9 for female double Weight = 180; To change these variables I would like the person to be able to go into the settings and choose different values. I have these things set up, but not linked to the variables shown above because I cannot for the life of me figure out how. Here they are: I press the menu button and this pops up. Great. I'll click Settings. Now the preferences pops up. Here is my preferences.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <PreferenceScreen xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <PreferenceCategory android:title="Personal Settings"> <ListPreference android:title="Gender" android:summary="Verify or deny the presence of a Y chromosome." android:key="genderPref" android:defaultValue="male" android:entries="@array/genderArray" android:entryValues="@array/genderValues" /> <ListPreference android:title="Weight" android:summary="How much the planet pulls on you, in pounds." android:key="weightPref" android:defaultValue="180" android:entries="@array/weightArray" android:entryValues="@array/weightValues" /> </PreferenceCategory> <PreferenceCategory android:title="Drink Settings"> <ListPreference android:title="Beer Size" android:summary="The volume of your beer, in ounces." android:key="beerPref" android:defaultValue="12" android:entries="@array/beerArray" android:entryValues="@array/beerValues" /> <ListPreference android:title="Shot Size" android:summary="The volume of your shot, in ounces." android:key="shotPref" android:defaultValue="1.5" android:entries="@array/shotArray" android:entryValues="@array/shotValues" /> <ListPreference android:title="Wine Size" android:summary="The volume of your wine, in ounces." android:key="winePref" android:defaultValue="5" android:entries="@array/wineArray" android:entryValues="@array/wineValues" /> </PreferenceCategory> </PreferenceScreen> Onward to the weight ListPreference: And that shows up. The values are stored as string-arrays in res/values/arrays.xml. Here's a sample, of just the weight ones: <string-array name="weightArray"> <item>120 lbs</item> <item>150 lbs</item> <item>180 lbs</item> <item>210 lbs</item> <item>240 lbs</item> <item>270 lbs</item> </string-array> <string-array name="weightValues"> <item>120</item> <item>150</item> <item>180</item> <item>210</item> <item>240</item> <item>270</item> </string-array> This is basically as far as I've gotten. I can click a value, sure, but it doesn't change the formula because it's not linked with the doubles I created in DrinkingBuddy.java. All of the stuff displayed in the settings are just empty shells for now, including the spinner on the main layout (the default time is just set to 1 hour) I did create a Preferences.java and have tried implementing various combinations of code found in tutorials and resources around the web, but to no avail. Here it is anyway, filled with failed attempts to make beerPref (the settings option to change how many ounces in the beer) correlate with a variable in my main class: package com.dantoth.drinkingbuddy; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.SharedPreferences; import android.os.Bundle; import android.preference.Preference; import android.preference.PreferenceActivity; import android.preference.Preference.OnPreferenceClickListener; public class Preferences extends PreferenceActivity { public static final String PREF_BEER_SIZE = "PREF_BEER_SIZE"; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.preferences); //Get the custom preference Preference beerPref = (Preference) findPreference("beerPref"); beerPref.setOnPreferenceClickListener(new OnPreferenceClickListener() { public boolean onPreferenceClick(Preference preference) { SharedPreferences customSharedPreference = getSharedPreferences("myCustomSharedPrefs", Activity.MODE_PRIVATE); SharedPreferences.Editor editor = customSharedPreference.edit(); editor.commit(); return true; }} );} } A full on tutorial and sample code would be AWESOME as I've yet to find any reliable guides out there.

  • Correctly calling setGridWidth on a jqGrid inside a jQueryUI Dialog

    - by Dan
I have a jQueryUI dialog (#locDialog) which has a jqGrid ($grid) inside it. When the Dialog opens (initially, but it gets called whenever it opens), I want the $grid to resize to the size of the $locDialog. When I do this initially, I get scrollbars inside the grid (not inside the dialog). If I debug the code, I see the width of the $grid is 677. So, I call setGridWidth() again and check the width and now I have 659, which is 18px less, which is the size of the scroll area for the jqGrid (Dun-dun-dun..) When I rezie the dialog, I resize the grid as well, and everything is happy - no scrollbars, except where necessary. My dialog init code: $locDialog = $('#location-dialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, modal: true, position: ['center', 100], width: 700, height:500, resizable: true, buttons: { "Show Selected": function() {alert($('#grid').jqGrid('getGridParam','selarrrow'));}, "OK": function() {$(this).dialog('close');}, "Cancel": function() {$(this).dialog('close');} }, open: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridHeight($(this).height()-54); // No idea why 54 is the magic number here $grid.setGridWidth($(this).width(), true); }, close: function(event, ui) { }, resizeStop: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridWidth($locDialog.width(), true); $grid.setGridHeight($locDialog.height()-54); } }); I am curious if anyone has seen this before. Really, it isn't the end of the world if I initially have unnecessary scrollbars at first, but it is just odd that when I call setGridWidth initially, it doesn't take into account the scroll area of 18px. As far as the magical number 54, that is the number I had to subtract from the height of the dialog value to get the grid to render without unnecessary scrollbars.

  • XMLHttpRequest and certificate errors.

    - by Dan G
I'm using a XMLHTTPRequest object in my C++ project. I have things working fine with normal http requests and https requests on servers with valid certificates. When I attempt to make an https:// request to a server who's certificate would produce an IE "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." error if I tried to browse there with IE, the request fails. The result I get back from the request is a 12019 error. Is there any way to make the request ignore the error and continue on as if a user had clicked on the "continue to this website" link. You are going to suggest I fix whatever is wrong with the certificate. At the moment I don't have control of that certificate, so I'm looking for an answer (if there is one) that does not include correcting the certificate. Thanks.

  • What are some good/reputable/widely-used libraries written in VB.NET?

    - by Dan Tao
Generally speaking, when VB.NET and C# are compared, there is a lot of strong support for C#, accompanied by some bashing of VB.NET until a respected developer comes along and acts as The Voice Of Reason, pointing out that while VB prior to VB.NET had its fair share of issues, VB.NET is really a very strong, fully OOP language that is, feature-wise, right about on par with C# (with the exception of certain things like a full-bodied lamba syntax [pre-VB10] or the yield keyword, as many C# faithfuls are quick to point out). I myself, having written plenty of code in both VB.NET and C#, fall squarely in the "I prefer C#, but don't consider VB.NET any less of a language" camp. However, one thing I have noticed is that when it comes to respected and/or widely-used libraries for .NET, everyting is written in C#. Or at least that's been my impression. This strikes me as a little strange because, aside from the abovementioned sprinkling of nice features (in particular the yield keyword), I tend to view the VB.NET/C# divide as primarily a matter of personal taste. Obviously, plenty of developers prefer C#. But I personally know some developers (good ones) who prefer VB.NET, which would lead me to suspect that surely some libraries (good ones) would be written in VB.NET. They must be out there, and I just haven't found them. What are some good libraries that've been written in VB.NET? The best would be open source, as that would allow interested developers to take a look at some good VB.NET code and see how effective the language can be when used properly. But I'd be interested to know about any libraries at all, particularly reputable ones.

  • Parse html and find data in the html

    - by Dan.StackOverflow
Hi all. I am trying to use html5lib to parse an html page in to something I can query with xpath. html5lib has close to zero documentation and I've spent too much time trying to figure this problem out. Ultimate goal is to pull out the second row of a table: <html> <table> <tr><td>Header</td></tr> <tr><td>Want This</td></tr> </table> </html> so lets try it: >>> doc = html5lib.parse('<html><table><tr><td>Header</td></tr><tr><td>Want This</td> </tr></table></html>', treebuilder='lxml') >>> doc <lxml.etree._ElementTree object at 0x1a1c290> that looks good, lets see what else we have: >>> root = doc.getroot() >>> print(lxml.etree.tostring(root)) <html:html xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><html:head/><html:body><html:table><html:tbody><html:tr><html:td>Header</html:td></html:tr><html:tr><html:td>Want This</html:td></html:tr></html:tbody></html:table></html:body></html:html> LOL WUT? seriously. I was planning on using some xpath to get at the data I want, but that doesn't seem to work. So what can I do? I am willing to try different libraries and approaches.

  • Hierarchical templating multiple object types in silverlight

    - by Dan Wray
Is it possible and if so what is the best way to implement the following hierarchical structure in a silverlight (4) TreeView control? (where Item and Group are classes which can exist in the tree). Group | |-Item | |-Group | | | |-Item | | | |-Item | |-Item The structure could of course be arbitrarily more complex than this, if needed. HierarchicalDataTemplates appear to be the way to approach this, but I'm specifically having trouble understanding how I might apply the template to interpret the different classes correctly. A similar question was asked for WPF, the answer for which made use of the TargetType property on the HierarchicalDataTemplate, but I am uncertain whether that property is available in the silverlight version since I don't appear to have access to it in my environment.
