  • Pick an image from the Gallery

    I have seen a lot of posts about this, and it seems like the code below should work. I have created an SD Card image and added it to the emulator (and that works fine). Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK); intent.setType("image/*"); //intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); startActivityForResult(intent, 1); It does launch and allow selection of images, but when I click on an image, everything exits and the emulator returns to the home screen, not the back to my app. My onActivityResult is never called either. What am I missing?

  • AllowSetForegroundWindow & SetForegroundWindow: NPAPI plug-in wants to allow a desktop application with no success

    Here it's what I have: a web browser plug-in written in C++ and a Windows application written in C#. They communicate through a named pipe. The plug-in instructs the C# application to open a file (suppose that the file is a .txt and it opens in Notepad). Once the C# application is given the command, it opens the file but Notepad doesn't show in the foreground, which isn't acceptable, I must open Notepad in the foreground. I modified the C# application so that it calls the SetForegroundWindow function. This time Notepad didn't open in the foreground, but the taskbar flashes. After reading the documentation for SetForegroundWindow and many articles I think that now I understand what the problem is: the C# application can't bring Notepad to the foreground because it wasn't the the foreground process, the browser was (?). After reading this: "A process that can set the foreground window can enable another process to set the foreground window by calling the AllowSetForegroundWindow function." I decided to modify the plug-in. This time the plug-in calls the AllowSetForegroundWindow function passing ASFW_ANY as a parameter (I know, ASFW_ANY could be risky, but I wanted to make sure that AllowSetForegroundWindow would do it). After I did the modification to the plug-in I tested it and it worked! (Opera 12.02). Then I tested it on Internet Explorer and it worked too. But the problem came when I tested it in Firefox and Chrome. The C# application didn't have the ability to bring Notepad to the foreground. I noticed that for those browsers the AllowSetForegroundWindow function was returning false. So I started investigating and I come to the conclusion that maybe it's because the plugin container that Firefox uses. An idea came to my mind: it worked in Opera 12.02, but they don't have a plugin container, although they did in Opera 12.00. So I downloaded Opera 12.00, I did the test and it failed, which makes me conclude that the plugin container is the culprit. The question is: how can I give to the C# application the ability to set foreground? I don't know how to continue, and I think that I tried all the legitimate ways. The AllowSetForegroundWindow & SetForegroundWindow seems to not apply here.

  • Why is the operation address incremented by two?

    I am looking at a Javascript emulator of a NES to try and understand how it works. On this line: addr = this.load(opaddr+2); The opcode is incremented by two. However, the documentation (see appendix E) I'm reading says: Zero page addressing uses a single operand which serves as a pointer to an address in zero page ($0000-$00FF) where the data to be operated on can be found. By using zero page addressing, only one byte is needed for the operand, so the instruction is shorter and, therefore, faster to execute than with addressing modes which take two operands. An example of a zero page instruction is AND $12. So if the operand's argument is only one byte, shouldn't it appear directly after it, and be + 1 instead of + 2? Why +2? This is how I think it works, which may be incorrect. Suppose our memory looks like: ------------------------- | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | <- index ------------------------- | a | b | c | d | e | f | <- memory ------------------------- ^ \ PC and our PC is 0, pointing to a. What I am trying to do sounds pretty simple but I am struggling to find a neat, quick way of doing it. I want to create a sproc that takes an Srn and returns back all the staff under that Srn in the structure. If there is a score for QuestionId of 16 then that indicates a completed survey. I would like to return a line for the Srn entered (The top manager) with a count of completed surveys for the direct reports under that manager. Under that I would like each manager under the original manager with a count of completed surveys for each of their direct reports and so on.   • How to write a custom solution using a python package, modules etc

    I am writing a packacge foobar which consists of the modules alice, bob, charles and david. From my understanding of Python packages and modules, this means I will create a folder foobar, with the following subdirectories and files (please correct if I am wrong) foobar/ __init__.py alice/alice.py bob/bob.py charles/charles.py david/david.py The package should be executable, so that in addition to making the modules alice, bob etc available as 'libraries', I should also be able to use foobar in a script like this: python foobar --args=someargs Question1: Can a package be made executable and used in a script like I described above? Question 2 The various modules will use code that I want to refactor into a common library. Does that mean creating a new sub directory 'foobar/common' and placing common.py in that folder? Question 3 How will the modules foo import the common module ? Is it 'from foobar import common' or can I not use this since these modules are part of the package? Question 4 I want to add logic for when the foobar package is being used in a script (assuming this can be done - I have only seen it done for modules) The code used is something like: if __name__ == "__main__": dosomething() where (in which file) would I put this logic ?

  • How do I solve an unresolved external when using C++ Builder packages?

    I'm experimenting with reconfiguring my application to make heaving use of packages. Both I and another developer running a similar experiment are running into a bit of trouble when linking using several different packages. We're probably both doing something wrong, but goodness knows what :) The situation is this: The first package, PackageA.bpl, contains C++ class FooA. The class is declared with the PACKAGE directive. The second package, PackageB.bpl, contains a class inheriting from FooA, called FooB. It includes FooB.h, and the package is built using runtime packages, and links to PackageA by adding a reference to PackageA.bpi. I can see entries for the specific things ILink32 says it's looking for and not finding. Running TDump on the BPI file shows similar entries. Other info The class does descend from TObject, though originally before refactoring into packages it was a normal C++ class. (More detail below. It seems "safer" using VCL-style classes when trying to solve problems with a very Delphi-ish thing like this anyway. Changing this only changes the order of unresolved externals to first not find Method1 and Method2, then others.) Declaration for FooA: class PACKAGE FooA: public TObject { public: FooA(); virtual __fastcall ~FooA(); FooA(const FooA&); virtual __fastcall long Method1() const; virtual __fastcall long Method2() const; }; and FooB: class FooB: public FooA { public: FooB(); virtual __fastcall ~FooB(); ... other methods... }; All methods definitely are implemented in the .cpp files, so it's not not finding them because they don't exist! The .cpp files also contain #pragma package(smart_init) near the top, under the includes. Questions that might help... Are packages reliable using C++, or are they only useable with Delphi code? Is linking to the first package by adding a reference to its BPI correct - is that how you're supposed to do it? I could use a LIB but it seems to make the second package much larger, and I suspect it's statically linking in the contents of the first. Can we use the PACKAGE directive only on TObject-derived classes? There is no compiler warning using it on standard C++ classes. Is splitting code into packages the best way to achieve the goal of isolating code and communicating through defined layers / interfaces? I've been investigating this path because it seems to be the C++Builder / Delphi Way, and if it worked it looks attractive. But are there better alternatives? I'm very new to using packages and have only known about them through using components before. Any general words of advice would be great! We're using C++Builder 2010. I've fabricated the class and method names in the above code examples, but other than that the details are exactly what we're seeing. Cheers, David

    Hi All, I'm trying to get derived complex types from a base type in an xsd schema. it works well when I do this (inspired by this): xml file: <person xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="Employee"> <name>John</name> <height>59</height> <jobDescription>manager</jobDescription> </person> xsd file: <xs:element name="person" type="Person"/> <xs:complexType name="Person" abstract="true"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name= "name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name= "height" type="xs:double" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="Employee"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="Person"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="jobDescription" type="xs:string" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> However, if I want to have the person element inside, for example, a sequence of another complex type, it doesn't work anymore: xml: <staffRecord> <company>mycompany</company> <dpt>sales</dpt> <person xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="Employee"> <name>John</name> <height>59</height> <jobDescription>manager</jobDescription> </person> </staffRecord> xsd file: <xs:element name="staffRecord"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="company" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="dpt" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="person" type="Person"/> <xs:complexType name="Person" abstract="true"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name= "name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name= "height" type="xs:double" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="Employee"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="Person"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="jobDescription" type="xs:string" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> When validating the xml with that schema with xmllint (under linux), I get this error message then: config.xsd:12: element complexType: Schemas parser error : Element '{http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema}sequence': The content is not valid. Expected is (annotation?, (element | group | choice | sequence | any)*). WXS schema config.xsd failed to compile Any idea what is wrong ? David
