  • Good Way to Debug Visual Studio Designer Errors

    - by Daisuke Shimamoto
Hi, Does anyone know a good way to debug errors in the Visual Studio Designer? In our project we have tons of UserControls and many complex forms. For the complex ones, the Designer often throws various exceptions which doesn't help much and was wondering if there's some nice way to figure out what has gone wrong. The language is C# and we're using Visual Studio 2005. Thanks, Daisuke

  • Where can I find some good tutorials for C++

    - by Rob
My friend has convinced me to start learning some C++, so my question is simple: where can I find some good tutorials for it? But please don't link me to the usual dry boring tutorials that only tells you the function syntax, I need more thorough explanations. I get sidetracked very easily, and I need tutorials that are more on a human level, that I'll not only learn from, but enjoy reading as well. So I'd appreciate any links that would help :)

  • How do you find good .NET developers?

    - by Jonathan Allen
I'm getting tired of interviewing "expert WinForms developers" who don't know what an event handler is, let alone something 'hard' like "What is an interface?". We even tried recruiting firms, but we still getting junk. Where do you get good people? Or do you just pick up college recruits and train them yourself?

  • How to learn open source library API without good documentation

    - by Turtle
I am recently working on the open source library openmetaverse which is designed as an open source substitution of second life viewer. I think the problem is that it is not well documented. Sometimes, I just misunderstand the API when I really used it in real program which is very annoying because sometimes you need to write many code. But how to make sure the API just acts the way you expected? So what is your way to learn new API without good documentation?

  • Any good C interpreters?

    - by NoMoreZealots
I was looking at Ch from SofIntegration and it looks pretty interesting as a possible teaching tool. It would allow the you to let someone learning to program "play" while preparing them to write full fledged C programs. I was wondering if anybody had "good" experiences using a C interpreter or weather it would be a better to go with a language that is typically interpreter to start with?

  • What is a good free ODBC viewer?

    - by wshato
At my job I have to work with three different databases. One is a SQL Server 2008, for which I use SQL Server Management Studio, and another is MySQL, for which I use the MySQL tools. The third however is a Cache database that I can only access through a ODBC connection. Currently I use the SLIK software ODBC View tool to access it, but it is severely lacking when compared with the other two tools. Can anyone recommend a good tool for this type of work?
