Hello I want to design a WebService for communication between Win Mobile 6.5 based Palm device and a PHP web server. The Palm device software will be developed on .NET compact framework. The communication between web server and device I envision as XML over HTTP. I want a tool that will let me design the Webservice (interfaces, methods) and then generate the xsd schema together with xml messages for the communication. Can you recommend something? Regards

Hi,I would like to know how can I create various string from some given characters eg: given characters: a, b I would like to generate the following strings: aa ab ba bb What I have thought of is having (for 2 inputs only) two for-loops one inside another, and then loop each to the number of inputs which in this case is 2 and the output strings will be 2*2 = 4 strings and as the number increases the number of output strings will increase by multiplying n*n (n-times)

Hide public method used to help test a .NET assembly

I have a .NET assembly, to be released. Its release build includes: A public, documented API of methods which people are supposed to use A public but undocumented API of other methods, which exist only in order to help test the assembly, and which people are not supposed to use The assembly to be released is a custom control, not an application. To regression-test it, I run it in a testing framework/application, which uses (in addition to the public/documented API) some advanced/undocumented methods which are exported from the control. For the public methods which I don't want people to use, I excluded them from the documentation using the <exclude> tag (supported by the Sandcastle Help File Builder), and the [EditorBrowsable] attribute, for example like this: /// <summary> /// Gets a <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance, which helps /// to combine several DOM edits into a single transaction, which /// can be undone and redone as if they were a single, atomic operation. /// </summary> /// <returns>A <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance.</returns> IEditorTransaction createEditorTransaction(); /// <exclude/> [EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Never)] void debugDumpBlocks(TextWriter output); This successfully removes the method from the API documentation, and from Intellisense. Is this an UITableView -beginUpdates documentation error?

I can't wrap my head around what they tried to say here in the docs for -beginUpdate: Call this method if you want subsequent insertions, deletion, and selection operations (for example, cellForRowAtIndexPath: and indexPathsForVisibleRows) to be animated simultaneously. Let's see... cellForRowAtIndexPath: and indexPathsForVisibleRows are both GETTER methods. They do not update anything and do not change anything. So why should I call -beginUpdates before calling these? And what's animated regarding these? Well, nothing, huh? Just want to make sure this is really an error in the docs and I didn't miss something.

Hibernate not using schema and catalog name in id generation with strategy increment

Hi, I am using the hibernate increment strategy to create my IDs on my entities. @GenericGenerator(name="increment-strategy", strategy="increment") @Id @GeneratedValue(generator="increment=strategy") @Column(name="HDR_ID", unique=true, nullable=false) public int getHdrId(){ return this.hdrId; } The entity has the following table annotation @Table(name = "PORDER.PUB.PO_HEADER", schema = "UVOSi", catalog = "VIRT_UVOS") Please note I have two datasources. When I try to insert an entity Hibernate creates the following SQL statement: select max(hdr_id) from PORDER.PUB.PO_HEADER which causes the following error: Group specified is ambiguous, resubmit the query by fully qualifying group name. When I create a query by hand with entityManager.createQuery() hibernate uses the fully qualified name select XXX from VIRT_UVOS.UVOSi.PORDER.PUB.PO_HEADER and that works fine. So how do I get Hibernate to use the fully qualified name in the Id autogeneration? Btw. I am using Hibernate 3.2 and Seam 2.2 running on JBoss 4.2.3 Regards Immo

This has been discussed here in 2007 http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/devdocs/thread/1d0c4259-a1ec-44e7-8e37-ec936dfde854 the author said it would be solved but I downloaded the package a few days ago to try it and still get this error. Anybody uses Sandcastle Help File Builder ?

ASP.NET Dynamic form generation and submition

I need to create a form where for each day in the month the user will enter in several different values (Im thinking a grid sort of thing, values along the top, day of the month along the side) using ASP.NET forms with C# backend... So what would be the best way to generate this form? I dont want to hardcode that many controls as it would make the submition a little annoying but i also would need to be able to give it values entered in previous days and have it display them in the textboxes. How would i go about creating this form and also how would i get the values from the textboxes in the backend?

I want to use the following pseudocode to insert a value into this table: lock (A) uniqueID = GenerateUniqueID() insert into A values (uniqueID, somename) unlock(A) How can this be accomplished in terms of TSQL? The computation of the next id should be done with the table A locked in order to avoid other sessions to do the same operation at the same time and get the same id.

I want to make this clear up front : I know how this trick works, what I want is a link to a clear explanation to share with others. One of the answers to a C macro question talks about the "X macro" or "not yet defined macro" idiom. This involves defining something like: #define MAGIC_LIST \ X(name_1, default_1) \ X(name_2, default_2) \ ... Then to create, say, an array of values with named indices you do: typedef enum { #define X(name, val) name, MAGIC_LIST #undef X } NamedDefaults; You can repeat the procedure with a different #define for X() to create an array of values, and maybe debugging strings, etc. I'd like a link to a clear explanation of how this works, pitched at someone who is passably familiar with C. I'm using an external bindings file when using jaxb against an XML schema. I'm mostly using the bindings file to map from the XML schema primitives to my own types. Generation of .tlb Files in Windows 7 Pro 32-bit

I have a C++ DLL that imports a .tlb file generated in a C# project. The C++ DLL is a wrapper DLL containing functions that call the corresponding C# functions. When I call the C++ functions on the computer that I built the projects, all works well. But when I copy the DLL's and generated tlb's to another computer with the same exact version of Windows and installed programs andI call the C++ functions, it breaks with a COM error. However, after recompiling the projects on the new computer, everything works again. I already checked the "Work on All Computers" for both projects but this keeps happening. What else do I need to do for the DLL's to work on all computers?

Linux based MS Office thumbnail generation

I've been taken on board to work on a PHP based web application. One part of the application generates thumbnail images for MS Office documents on demand, and it uses MS Office + the VeryPDF docprint utility to do this. Because of this one requirement, the system is running on Windows Server 2003 + IIS. I would prefer to have the system running on a Linux server, rather than MS, as I have far more experience in administering Linux systems than Windows and we have no other in-house technical staff. Does anyone know a way to handle the document conversion using native Linux software? I would love something PHP native, but am willing to look outside that if necessary. Thanks for your suggestions.

That page says, "Please use the documentation appropriate to your current version" but I can't find anything other than the current version (1.8.0) on the Web site - I had to resort to using archive.org to find the old version (which I would consider a hack, not a clean solution)...

If you have an XSD with an includes reference. Is it possible to generate 2 separate class files. 1 for the XSD, and 1 for the included XSD? My Scenario 4 XSDs, each of which share 15-20 element definitions in common. Rather than maintaining, I'd like to end up with the 4 XSDs all referencing a fifth file with the common definitions, and code generating 5 .cs files to use.

I can add this on aspx (it will wotk and I will get unique ids): onmouseover='<%# "javascript:ShowEditButtons(\""+ Container.FindControl("pnlEditButtons").ClientID+ "\");" %>' But I must do it in codebehind because I need to set the javascript only if server validate some things.
