  • Need sorted dictionary designed to find values with keys less or greater than search value

    - by Captain Comic
    Hi I need to have objects sorted by price (decimal) value for fast access. I need to be able to find all objects with price more then A or less than B. I was thinkg about SortedList, but it does not provide a way to find ascending or descending enumerator starting from given key value (say give me all objects with price less than $120). Think of a system that accepts items for sell from users and stores them into that collection. Another users want to find items cheaper than $120. Basically what i need is tree-based collection and functionality to find node that is smaller\greater\equal to provided key. Please advice.

  • how to solve nested list programs [closed]

    - by riya
    write a function to get most popular car that accepts a car detail as input and returns the most popular car name along with its average rating .Each element of car details list is a sublist that provides the below information about a car (a)name of a car(b)car price (c) list of ratings obtained by car from various agencies.Incase two cars have the same average rating then the car with the lesser price qualifies as most popular car? here's my solution-: (define-struct cardetails ("name" price list of '(ratings)) (define car1 (make-cardetails "toyota" 123 '( 1 2 3))) (define car2 (make-cardetails "santro" 321 '( 2 2 3))) (define car3 (make-cardetails "toyota" 100 '( 1 2 3))) (define cardetailslist(list(car1) (car2)(car 3))) (let loop ((count 0)) (let (len (length cardetailslist)) (if(< count len) (string-ref (string-ref n)0) now please tell me how to find maximum average and display car name.it's not a homework question tomorrow is my test and we have not been taught this concept in class although it is very important from test point of view

  • jQuery Validation plugin: prompt for override

    - by Sam Carleton
    I have a jQuery form that has validation of a sort. It is a data entry screen with two 'recommend ranges', one is 36-84, the other 50-300. The business rules call for the values to be either blank or greater than zero, but to prompt for confirmation if the values are outside of the range listed above. I have seen some other threads that talk about setting the class="cancel" on the submit button. From what I can tell, this will simply disable the validation. I need to prompt for a "do you want to continue, yes or no?" and if no stop the submit, if yes, continue. Below is an example from the book Pro jQuery. By default the top row needs to be between 10 and 20 to submit. How would you change it so that it prompts you and if you say Yes it submits, no prevents the submit: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Example</title> <script src="jquery-1.7.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.tmpl.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <style type="text/css"> h1 { min-width: 70px; border: thick double black; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; font-size: x-large; padding: .5em; color: darkgreen; background-image: url("border.png"); background-size: contain; margin-top: 0; } .dtable {display: table;} .drow {display: table-row;} .dcell {display: table-cell; padding: 10px;} .dcell > * {vertical-align: middle} input {width: 2em; text-align: right; border: thin solid black; padding: 2px;} label {width: 5em; padding-left: .5em; display: inline-block;} #buttonDiv {text-align: center;} #oblock {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; min-width: 700px; } div.errorMsg {color: red} .invalidElem {border: medium solid red} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var data = [ { name: "Astor", product: "astor", stocklevel: "10", price: "2.99"}, { name: "Daffodil", product: "daffodil", stocklevel: "12", price: "1.99"}, { name: "Rose", product: "rose", stocklevel: "2", price: "4.99"}, { name: "Peony", product: "peony", stocklevel: "0", price: "1.50"}, { name: "Primula", product: "primula", stocklevel: "1", price: "3.12"}, { name: "Snowdrop", product: "snowdrop", stocklevel: "15", price: "0.99"}, ]; var templResult = $('#flowerTmpl').tmpl(data); templResult.slice(0, 3).appendTo('#row1'); templResult.slice(3).appendTo("#row2"); $('form').validate({ highlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).addClass("invalidElem"); }, unhighlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).removeClass("invalidElem"); }, errorElement: "div", errorClass: "errorMsg" }); $.validator.addClassRules({ flowerValidation: { required: true, min: 0, max: 100, digits: true, } }) $('#row1 input').each(function(index, elem) { $(elem).rules("add", { min: 10, max: 20 }) }); $('input').addClass("flowerValidation").change(function(e) { $('form').validate().element($(e.target)); }); }); </script> <script id="flowerTmpl" type="text/x-jquery-tmpl"> <div class="dcell"> <img src="${product}.png"/> <label for="${product}">${name}: </label> <input name="${product}" value="0" required /> </div> </script> </head> <body> <h1>Jacqui's Flower Shop</h1> <form method="post" action="http://node.jacquisflowershop.com/order"> <div id="oblock"> <div class="dtable"> <div id="row1" class="drow"> </div> <div id="row2"class="drow"> </div> </div> </div> <div id="buttonDiv"><button type="submit">Place Order</button></div> </form> </body> </html>

  • Find the highest number of occurences in a column in SQL

    - by Ronnie
    Given this table: Order custName description to_char(price) A desa $14 B desb $14 C desc $21 D desd $65 E dese $21 F desf $78 G desg $14 H desh $21 I am trying to display the whole row where prices have the highest occurances, in this case $14 and $21 I believe there needs to be a subquery. So i started out with this: select max(count(price)) from orders group by price which gives me 3. after some time i didn't think that was helpful. i believe i needed the value 14 and 21 rather the the count so i can put that in the where clause. but I'm stuck how to display that. any help?

  • How to retrieve column total when rows are paginated?

    - by Rick
    Hey guys I have a column "price" in a table and I used a pagination script to generate the data displayed. Now the pagination is working perfectly however I am trying to have a final row in my HTML table to show the total of all the price. So I wrote a script to do just that with a foreach loop and it sort of works where it does give me the total of all the price summed up together however it is the sum of all the rows, even the ones that are on following pages. How can I retrieve just the sum of the rows displayed within the pagination? Thank you! Here is the query.. SELECT purchase_log.id, purchase_log.date_purchased, purchase_log.total_cost, purchase_log.payment_status, cart_contents.product_name, members.first_name, members.last_name, members.email FROM purchase_log LEFT JOIN cart_contents ON purchase_log.id = cart_contents.purchase_id LEFT JOIN members ON purchase_log.member_id = members.id GROUP BY id ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 0,30";

  • jQuery sibling selector?

    - by Brett
    Hi, I have a table which I'm trying to do a pricing list, that auto-computes the tax component.. I'm getting the value from price_1, applying a math cal, and saving it to tax_1. I could read the number of the end of the id, but hopefully there is a cleaner way with jQuery. E.g. I would have a lot of fields like.. price_1 price_2 price_3 tax_1 tax_2 tax_3 etc... I can use the following code to call jQuery on change of a price, and get the value of that price. How do I update the tax field next to it? should I use a sibling selector or something?? $('#pricing').delegate("input", "change", function(){ $(this).val() /* the value of the price */; })

  • Errors in Decimal Calcs within def clean method?

    - by allanhenderson
    I'm attempting a few simple calculations in a def clean method following validation (basically spitting out a euro conversion of retrieved uk product price on the fly). I keep getting a TypeError. Full error reads: Cannot convert {'product': , 'invoice': , 'order_discount': Decimal("0.00"), 'order_price': {...}, 'order_adjust': None, 'order_value': None, 'DELETE': False, 'id': 92, 'quantity': 8} to Decimal so I guess django is passing through the entire cleaned_data form to Decimal method. Not sure where I'm going wrong - the code I'm working with is: def clean_order_price(self): cleaned_data = self.cleaned_data data = self.data order_price = cleaned_data.get("order_price") if not order_price: try: existing_price = ProductCostPrice.objects.get(supplier=data['supplier'], product_id=cleaned_data['product'], is_latest=True) except ProductCostPrice.DoesNotExist: existing_price = None if not existing_price: raise forms.ValidationError('No match found, please enter new price') else: if data['invoice_type'] == 1: return existing_price.cost_price_gross elif data['invoice_type'] == 2: exchange = EuroExchangeRate.objects.latest('exchange_date') calc = exchange.exchange_rate * float(existing_price.cost_price_gross) calc = Decimal(str(calc)) return calc return cleaned_data If the invoice is of type 2 (a euro invoice) then the system should grab the latest exchange rate and apply that to the matching UK pound price pulled through to get euro result. Should performing a decimal conversion be a problem within def clean method? Thanks

  • Assign multiple css classes to a table element in Rails

    - by Eric K
    I'm trying to style a table row using both cycle and a helper, like shown: <tr class= <%= cycle("list-line-odd #{row_class(item)}", "list-line-even #{row_class(item)}")%> > However, when I do this, the resulting HTML is: <tr class = "list-line-odd" lowest-price> with the return from the helper method not enclosed in the quotes, and therefore not recognized. Here's the helper I'm using: def row_class(item) if item.highest_price > 0 and item.lowest_price > 0 and item.highest_price != item.lowest_price if item.current_price >= item.highest_price "highest-price" elsif item.current_price <= item.lowest_price "lowest-price" end end end I must be missing something obvious, but I just can't figure out how to wrap both the result of cycle and the helper method return in the same set of quotes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Server.Transfer - What could be the issue here?

    - by Younes
    We have implemented a website with the ability for the user to post his actioncode. This then will be checked by the code and when the user has a price the website will Server.Transfer him to another page. The strange thing here is that the user information will be submitted to the database and the actioncode can't be used again. Here we go... I have one user in this database that is inserted twice very fast after the first time he was added. This are the timestamps: 2010-04-23 07:54:41.133 2010-04-23 07:54:41.417 The insert statement is only called once from the code and the user gets Server.Transfered to the Price.aspx page where he sees what price he won. How can it be that this happened? I'm guessing the user hitted F5 but then he had to be very very fast... Thx!

  • php regex to split invoice line item description

    - by user1053700
    I am attempting to split strings like the following: An item (Item A) which may contain 89798 numbers and letters @ $550.00 4 of Item B @ $420.00 476584 of Item C, with a larger quantity and different currency symbol @ £420.00 into: array( 0 => 1 1 => "some item which may contain 89798 numbers and letters" 2 => $550.00 ); does that make sense? I am looking for a regex pattern which will split the quantity, description, and price (including symbol). the strings will always be: qty x description @ price+symbol so i assume the regex would be something like: `(match a number and only a number) x (get description letters and numbers before the @ symbol) @ (match the currency symbol and price)` How should I approach this?

    - by Cibernox
    Hi. I have a plain old form. That form is used to create new objects of a nested model. #restaurant.rb has_many :courses #courses.rb belongs_to :restaurant #routes.rb resources :restaurants do resources :courses end In my views(in haml), i have that code: %li.course{'data-random'=>random} = form_for([restaurant,course], :remote=>true) do |f| .name= f.text_field :name, :placeholder=>'Name here' .cat= f.hidden_field :category .price= f.text_field :price,:placeholder=>'Price here' .save = hidden_field_tag :random,random = f.submit "Save" I espected that form to be answered by action create of courses_controller with JS (create.js.erb), but it is submited like a normal form, and is answered with html. • can't define id ( cold fusion )

    - by venom
    here is my cold fusion code: Example1: <cfquery name="GET_BRAND" datasource="#dsn1#"> SELECT PRODUCT_CATID FROM PRODUCT_CAT WHERE PRODUCT_CATID = PRODUCT_CATID </cfquery> #get_brand.product_catid# But it shows all the time number 1, i just can't understand why, and how do i make it work properly, this code should have defined the brand_id, but instead shows 1. The system is Workcube. Here is my example for getting from the static product's id, its dynamic price: Example 2: <cfset product_id = 630> <cfquery name="price_standart" datasource="#dsn3#"> SELECT PRICE_STANDART.PRICE PRICE FROM PRICE_STANDART WHERE PRICE_STANDART.PRODUCT_ID = <cfqueryparam value="#product_id#" cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer"> </cfquery> But this time i need to get from dynamic product's ID its dynamic brand id. This script works the same way as the Example 1: <cfquery name="GET_BRAND" datasource="#dsn1#"> SELECT BRAND_ID FROM PRODUCT_BRANDS WHERE BRAND_ID = BRAND_ID </cfquery> #get_brand.BRAND_ID#

  • insert into table where if not in list

    - by jim smith
    Can anybody help me with the syntax? insert into history (company,partnumber,price) values ('blah','IFS0090','0.00') if company NOT IN ('blah','blah2','blah3','blah4','blah4') and partnumber='IFS0090'; Background: I have a history table which stores daily company, products and prices. But sometimes a company will remove itself for a few days. Complicating the issue is because I'm only saving daily CHANGES to prices only and not snapshotting the entire days list (the data would be huge) when I display the data the company will still come up for the previous days price. So I need to do something like this, where a 0.00 price means they're no longer there.

  • XSLT ... I can'f find a (working) find minimum value in XML and set variable

    - by Bob
    I've search for hours and not found an example that allows for the very first position to be the lowest. I'm getting 'False' instead of the value returned .... EDIT: Oddly enough if I run a 2nd instance as MAX_Landed with ascending it returns a value just fine. If I switch the order in the XSLT the first instance will return 'False' and the 2nd will work. • What machine learning algorithms can be used in this scenario?

    - by ExceptionHandler
    My data consists of objects as follows. Obj1 - Color - shape - size - price - ranking So I want to be able to predict what combination of color/shape/size/price is a good combination to get high ranking. Or even a combination could work like for eg: in order to get good ranking, the alg predicts best performance for this color and this shape. Something like that. What are the advisable algorithms for such a prediction? Also may be if you can briefly explain how I can approach towards the model building I would really appreciate it. Say for eg: my data looks like Blue pentagon small $50.00 #5 Red Squre large $30.00 #3 So what is a useful prediction model that I should look at? What algorithm should I try to predict like say highest weightage is for price followed by color and then size. What if I wanted to predict in combinations like a Red small shape is less likely to higher rank compared to pink small shape . (In essence trying to combine more than one nominal values column to make the prediction)

  • Rendering a view to a string in MVC, then redirecting -- workarounds?

    - by James S
    Hi -- I can't render a view to a string and then redirect, despite this answer from Feb (after version 1.0, I think) that claims it's possible. I thought I was doing something wrong, and then I read this answer from Haack in July that claims it's not possible. If somebody has it working and can help me get it working, that's great (and I'll post code, errors). However, I'm now at the point of needing workarounds. There are a few, but nothing ideal. Has anybody solved this, or have any comments on my ideas? This is to render email. While I can surely send the email outside of the web request (store info in a db and get it later), there are many types of emails and I don't want to store the template data (user object, a few other LINQ objects) in a db to let it get rendered later. I could create a simpler, serializable POCO and save that in the db, but why? ... I just want rendered text! I can create a new RedirectToAction object that checks if the headers have been sent (can't figure out how to do this -- try/catch?) and, if so, builds out a simple page with a meta redirect, a javascript redirect, and also a "click here" link. Within my controller, I can remember if I've rendered an email and, if so, manually do #2 by displaying a view. I can manually send the redirect headers before any potential email rendering. Then, rather than using the MVC infrastructure to redirecttoaction, I just call result.end. This seems easiest, but really messy. Anything else? EDIT: I've tried Dan's code (very similar to the code from Jan/Feb that I've already tried) and I'm still getting the same error. The only substantial difference I can see is that his example uses a view while I use a partial view. I'll try testing this later with a view. Here's what I've got: Controller public ActionResult Certifications(string email_intro) { //a lot of stuff ViewData["users"] = users; if (isPost()) { //create the viewmodel var view_model = new ViewModels.Emails.Certifications.Open(userContext) { emailIntro = email_intro }; //i've tried stopping this after just one iteration, in case the problem is due to calling it multiple times foreach (var user in users) { if (user.Email_Address.IsValidEmailAddress()) { //add more stuff to the view model specific to this user view_model.user = user; view_model.certification302Summary.subProcessesOwner = new SubProcess_Certifications(RecordUpdating.Role.Owner, null, null, user.User_ID, repository); //more here.... //if i comment out the next line, everything works ok SendEmail(view_model, this.ControllerContext); } } return RedirectToAction("Certifications"); } return View(); } SendEmail() public static void SendEmail(ViewModels.Emails.Certifications.Open model, ControllerContext context) { var vd = context.Controller.ViewData; vd["model"] = model; var renderer = new CustomRenderers(); //i fixed an error in your code here var text = renderer.RenderViewToString3(context, "~/Views/Emails/Certifications/Open.ascx", "", vd, null); var a = text; } CustomRenderers public class CustomRenderers { public virtual string RenderViewToString3(ControllerContext controllerContext, string viewPath, string masterPath, ViewDataDictionary viewData, TempDataDictionary tempData) { //copy/paste of dan's code } } Error [HttpException (0x80004005): Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent.] System.Web.HttpResponse.Redirect(String url, Boolean endResponse) +8707691 Thanks, James

  • How to refresh DataGrid and DropDown on main page after hiding modal popup

    - by James
    Hi, I am adding records to a database from a modal popup. After hiding the modal popup, the page has not been refreshed even though I have Rebound the controls. I have reviewed a few postings on the web about this but the solution still evades me. I have attached my code after removing some of the extra detail... It seems I need to cause a postback but I don't know what needs to be changed. Some posts have talked about the extender being misplaced. Anyway, thank you James <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="Head" Runat="Server"> <div class="divBorder"> <asp:DataGrid id="dgrSessionFolders" runat="server" BorderWidth="2px" BorderStyle="Solid" BorderColor="#C0C0FF" Font-Names="Arial" Font-Bold="True" Font-Size="8pt" GridLines="Horizontal" AutoGenerateColumns="False" PageSize="9999" AllowPaging="False" OnItemCommand="dgrSessionFolders_Command" OnItemDataBound="CheckSessionFolderStatus" HorizontalAlign="Left" ForeColor="Blue" ShowFooter="True" CellPadding="2" OnSortCommand="dgrSessionFolders_Sort" AllowSorting="True"> </asp:DataGrid> </div> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <asp:Label ID="Errormsg" runat="server" ForeColor="#CC0000"></asp:Label> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" RenderMode="Inline" ChildrenAsTriggers="false" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnEditTopic" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnAdd" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnUpdate" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnDelete" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnClear" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnAddTopic" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnUpdateTopic" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnDeleteTopic" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> <asp:panel id="pnl" runat="server" HorizontalAlign="Center" Height="48px" Width="100%" > &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <asp:ImageButton ID="btnEditTopic" runat="server" AlternateText="Edit Topic" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnEditTopic.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <cc1:ModalPopupExtender ID="btnEditTopic_ModalPopupExtender" runat="server" BackgroundCssClass="modalBackground" DropShadow="true" Enabled="true" PopupControlID="pnlEditTopic" TargetControlID="btnEditTopicHidden" CancelControlID="btnEditTopicClose"> </cc1:ModalPopupExtender> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnAdd" runat="server" AlternateText="Add Folder" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnAddFolder.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnUpdate" runat="server" AlternateText="Update Folder" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnUpdateFolder.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnDelete" runat="server" AlternateText="Delete Folder" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnDeleteFolder.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:ImageButton ID="BtnClear" runat="server" AlternateText="Clear Screen Input Fields" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnAddMode.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:Button ID="btnEditTopicHidden" runat="server" Enabled="false" Text="" Style="visibility: hidden" /> </asp:panel> <asp:Panel ID="pnlEditTopic" runat="server" CssClass="modalPopupEditTopic" Style="display: none;" > <table cellspacing="0" class="borderTable0" width="100%" style=""> <tr> <td colspan="10" class="Subhdr" align="center" style="width:100%"> <asp:label id="lblTopicScreenHdr" Cssclass="ScreenHdr" runat="server">Topic Maintenance</asp:label> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="6"> <asp:Label ID="TopicPopErrorMsg" runat="server" ForeColor="#CC0000">&nbsp;</asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:4px"> <td colspan="6" align="center"> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnAddTopic" runat="server" AlternateText="Add Topic" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnApply.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnUpdateTopic" runat="server" AlternateText="Update Topic" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnApply.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnDeleteTopic" runat="server" AlternateText="Delete Topic" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnDelete.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnEditTopicClose" runat="server" AlternateText="Close Edit Topic Popup" ImageUrl="~/App_Themes/Common/images/BtnCancel.jpg" Height="28px"> </asp:ImageButton> </td> </tr> </table> </asp:Panel> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> Private Sub btnAddTopic_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAddTopic.Click 'Add the Topic table entry AddTopic() 'Display an informational message Errormsg.Text = "The Topic has been successfully added, thank you!   • NHibernate Pitfalls: Fetch and Paging

    - by Ricardo Peres
    This is part of a series of posts about NHibernate Pitfalls. See the entire collection here. NHibernate allows you to force loading additional references (many to one, one to one) or collections (one to many, many to many) in a query. You must know, however, that this is incompatible with paging. It’s easy to see why. Let’s say you want to get 5 products starting on the fifth, you can issue the following LINQ query: 1: session.Query<Product>().Take(5).Skip(5).ToList(); Will product this SQL in SQL Server: 1: SELECT 2: TOP (@p0) product1_4_, 3: name4_, 4: price4_ 5: FROM 6: (select 7: product0_.product_id as product1_4_, 8: product0_.name as name4_, 9: product0_.price as price4_, 10: ROW_NUMBER() OVER( 11: ORDER BY 12: CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) as __hibernate_sort_row 13: from 14: product product0_) as query 15: WHERE 16: query.__hibernate_sort_row > @p1 17: ORDER BY If, however, you wanted to bring as well the associated order details, you might be tempted to try this: 1: session.Query<Product>().Fetch(x => x.OrderDetails).Take(5).Skip(5).ToList(); Which, in turn, will produce this SQL: 1: SELECT 2: TOP (@p0) product1_4_0_, 3: order1_3_1_, 4: name4_0_, 5: price4_0_, 6: order2_3_1_, 7: product3_3_1_, 8: quantity3_1_, 9: product3_0__, 10: order1_0__ 11: FROM 12: (select 13: product0_.product_id as product1_4_0_, 14: orderdetai1_.order_detail_id as order1_3_1_, 15: product0_.name as name4_0_, 16: product0_.price as price4_0_, 17: orderdetai1_.order_id as order2_3_1_, 18: orderdetai1_.product_id as product3_3_1_, 19: orderdetai1_.quantity as quantity3_1_, 20: orderdetai1_.product_id as product3_0__, 21: orderdetai1_.order_detail_id as order1_0__, 22: ROW_NUMBER() OVER( 23: ORDER BY 24: CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) as __hibernate_sort_row 25: from 26: product product0_ 27: left outer join 28: order_detail orderdetai1_ 29: on product0_.product_id=orderdetai1_.product_id 30: ) as query 31: WHERE 32: query.__hibernate_sort_row > @p1 33: ORDER BY 34: query.__hibernate_sort_row; However, because of the JOIN, what happens is that, if your products have more than one order details, you will get several records – one per order detail – per product, which means that pagination will be broken. There is an workaround, which forces you to write your LINQ query in another way: 1: session.Query<OrderDetail>().Where(x => session.Query<Product>().Select(y => y.ProductId).Take(5).Skip(5).Contains(x.Product.ProductId)).Select(x => x.Product).ToList() Or, using HQL: 1: session.CreateQuery("select od.Product from OrderDetail od where od.Product.ProductId in (select p.ProductId from Product p skip 5 take 5)").List<Product>(); The generated SQL will then be: 1: select 2: product1_.product_id as product1_4_, 3: product1_.name as name4_, 4: product1_.price as price4_ 5: from 6: order_detail orderdetai0_ 7: left outer join 8: product product1_ 9: on orderdetai0_.product_id=product1_.product_id 10: where 11: orderdetai0_.product_id in ( 12: SELECT 13: TOP (@p0) product_id 14: FROM 15: (select 16: product2_.product_id, 17: ROW_NUMBER() OVER( 18: ORDER BY 19: CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) as __hibernate_sort_row 20: from 21: product product2_) as query 22: WHERE 23: query.__hibernate_sort_row > @p1 24: ORDER BY 25: query.__hibernate_sort_row); Which will get you what you want: for 5 products, all of their order details.

It simulates a complete environment where a population of terminal operators executes transactions against a database. The benchmark is centered around the principal activities (transactions) of an order-entry environment. These transactions include entering and delivering orders, recording payments, checking the status of orders, and monitoring the level of stock at the warehouses. Key Points and Best Practices Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Enterprise Edition with Partitioning scales easily to this high level of performance. COMSTAR (Common Multiprotocol SCSI Target) is the software framework that enables an Oracle Solaris host to serve as a SCSI Target platform. COMSTAR uses a modular approach to break the huge task of handling all the different pieces in a SCSI target subsystem into independent functional modules which are glued together by the SCSI Target Mode Framework (STMF). The modules implementing functionality at SCSI level (disk, tape, medium changer etc.) are not required to know about the underlying transport. And the modules implementing the transport protocol (FC, iSCSI, etc.) are not aware of the SCSI-level functionality of the packets they are transporting. The framework hides the details of allocation providing execution context and cleanup of SCSI commands and associated resources and simplifies the task of writing the SCSI or transport modules. Oracle iPlanet Web Server middleware is used for the client tier of the benchmark. Each web server instance supports more than a quarter-million users while satisfying the response time requirement from the TPC-C benchmark. • What is the most efficient way to convert to binary and back in C#?

    - by Saad Imran.
    I'm trying to write a general purpose socket server for a game I'm working on. I know I could very well use already built servers like SmartFox and Photon, but I wan't to go through the pain of creating one myself for learning purposes. I've come up with a BSON inspired protocol to convert the the basic data types, their arrays, and a special GSObject to binary and arrange them in a way so that it can be put back together into object form on the client end. At the core, the conversion methods utilize the .Net BitConverter class to convert the basic data types to binary. Anyways, the problem is performance, if I loop 50,000 times and convert my GSObject to binary each time it takes about 5500ms (the resulting byte[] is just 192 bytes per conversion). I think think this would be way too slow for an MMO that sends 5-10 position updates per second with a 1000 concurrent users. Yes, I know it's unlikely that a game will have a 1000 users on at the same time, but like I said earlier this is supposed to be a learning process for me, I want to go out of my way and build something that scales well and can handle at least a few thousand users. So yea, if anyone's aware of other conversion techniques or sees where I'm loosing performance I would appreciate the help. GSBitConverter.cs This is the main conversion class, it adds extension methods to main datatypes to convert to the binary format. It uses the BitConverter class to convert the base types. I've shown only the code to convert integer and integer arrays, but the rest of the method are pretty much replicas of those two, they just overload the type. public static class GSBitConverter { public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this short value) { return BitConverter.GetBytes(value); } public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<short> value) { List<byte> bytes = new List<byte>(); short length = (short)value.Count(); bytes.AddRange(length.ToGSBinary()); for (int i = 0; i < length; i++) bytes.AddRange(value.ElementAt(i).ToGSBinary()); return bytes.ToArray(); } public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this bool value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<bool> value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<byte> value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this int value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<int> value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this long value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<long> value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this float value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<float> value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this double value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<double> value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this string value); public static byte[] ToGSBinary(this IEnumerable<string> value); public static string GetHexDump(this IEnumerable<byte> value); } Program.cs Here's the the object that I'm converting to binary in a loop. class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { GSObject obj = new GSObject(); obj.AttachShort("smallInt", 15); obj.AttachInt("medInt", 120700); obj.AttachLong("bigInt", 10900800700); obj.AttachDouble("doubleVal", Math.PI); obj.AttachStringArray("muppetNames", new string[] { "Kermit", "Fozzy", "Piggy", "Animal", "Gonzo" }); GSObject apple = new GSObject(); apple.AttachString("name", "Apple"); apple.AttachString("color", "red"); apple.AttachBool("inStock", true); apple.AttachFloat("price", (float)1.5); GSObject lemon = new GSObject(); apple.AttachString("name", "Lemon"); apple.AttachString("color", "yellow"); apple.AttachBool("inStock", false); apple.AttachFloat("price", (float)0.8); GSObject apricoat = new GSObject(); apple.AttachString("name", "Apricoat"); apple.AttachString("color", "orange"); apple.AttachBool("inStock", true); apple.AttachFloat("price", (float)1.9); GSObject kiwi = new GSObject(); apple.AttachString("name", "Kiwi"); apple.AttachString("color", "green"); apple.AttachBool("inStock", true); apple.AttachFloat("price", (float)2.3); GSArray fruits = new GSArray(); fruits.AddGSObject(apple); fruits.AddGSObject(lemon); fruits.AddGSObject(apricoat); fruits.AddGSObject(kiwi); obj.AttachGSArray("fruits", fruits); Stopwatch w1 = Stopwatch.StartNew(); for (int i = 0; i < 50000; i++) { byte[] b = obj.ToGSBinary(); } w1.Stop(); Console.WriteLine(BitConverter.IsLittleEndian ? "Little Endian" : "Big Endian"); Console.WriteLine(w1.ElapsedMilliseconds + "ms"); } Here's the code for some of my other classes that are used in the code above. Most of it is repetitive.
