    - by ilnur777
Hi, guys! I know how to decode a JSON string with one object with your help from this example http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2543389/how-to-decode-a-json-string But now I would like to improve decoding JSON string with several objects and I can't understand how to do it. Here is an example: { "programmers": [ { "firstName": "Brett", "lastName":"McLaughlin" }, { "firstName": "Jason", "lastName":"Hunter" }, { "firstName": "Elliotte", "lastName":"Harold" } ], "authors": [ { "firstName": "Isaac", "lastName": "Asimov" }, { "firstName": "Tad", "lastName": "Williams" }, { "firstName": "Frank", "lastName": "Peretti" } ], "musicians": [ { "firstName": "Eric", "lastName": "Clapton" }, { "firstName": "Sergei", "lastName": "Rachmaninoff" } ] } How to decode this JSON, call data and display on the page from what object the informartion list is being read? Thank you!

  • Can a Google Search Appliance / Mini output JSON/JSONP?

    - by Riley
Using Google Mini for a website that needs output from the Google Mini in a JSON/JSONP format for front-end querying purposes. Google Mini does publish an XML feed that could potentially be used by a middle process to convert to JSON/JSONP. Can Google Search Appliance / Mini output to JSON/JSONP using a plug-in, modification to an XSLT template, or other unknown method?

  • How do I return JSON data from a partial view FormMethod.Get?

    - by MrM
I have the following code that posts to my Search Json. The problem is the url redirects to the json search and displays the raw json data. I would like to return to a table in my partialView instead. Any thoughts on how I can achieve this? <div> @using (Html.BeginForm("Search", "Home", Formmethod.Get, new {id="search-form"})){ ... <button id="search-btn">Search</button> } </div> <div> <table id="search-results">...</table> </div> My home controller works fine but to make sure the picture is clear... public JsonResult Search(/*variables*/) { ... return Json(response, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } And I get redirected to "Search/(all my variables)

  • Why aren't double quotes and backslashes allowed in strings in the JSON standard?

    - by Dan Herbert
If I run this in a JavaScript console in Chrome or Firebug, it works fine. JSON.parse('"\u0027"') // Escaped single-quote But if I run either of these 2 lines in a Javascript console, it throws an error. JSON.parse('"\u0022"') // Escaped double-quote JSON.parse('"\u005C"') // Escaped backslash RFC 4627 section 2.5 seems to imply that \ and " are allowed characters as long as they're properly escaped. The 2 browsers I've tried this in don't seem to allow it, however. Is there something I'm doing wrong here or are they really not allowed in strings? I've also tried using \" and \\ in place of \u0022 and \u005C respectively. I feel like I'm just doing something very wrong, because I find it hard to believe that JSON would not allow these characters in strings, especially since the specification doesn't seem to mention anything that I could find saying they're not allowed.

  • How do I get jqGrid to work using ASP.NET + JSON on the backend?

    - by briandus
Hi friends, ok, I'm back. I totally simplified my problem to just three simple fields and I'm still stuck on the same line using the addJSONData method. I've been stuck on this for days and no matter how I rework the ajax call, the json string, blah blah blah...I can NOT get this to work! I can't even get it to work as a function when adding one row of data manually. Can anyone PLEASE post a working sample of jqGrid that works with ASP.NET and JSON? Would you please include 2-3 fields (string, integer and date preferably?) I would be happy to see a working sample of jqGrid and just the manual addition of a JSON object using the addJSONData method. Thanks SO MUCH!! If I ever get this working, I will post a full code sample for all the other posting for help from ASP.NET, JSON users stuck on this as well. Again. THANKS!! tbl.addJSONData(objGridData); //err: tbl.addJSONData is not a function!! Here is what Firebug is showing when I receive this message: • objGridData Object total=1 page=1 records=5 rows=[5] ? • How to select the first property with unknown name from JSON and how to select first item from array

    - by Oscar Godson
I actually have two questions, both are probably simple, but for some odd reason I cant figure it out... I've worked with JSON 100s of times before too! but here is the JSON in question: {"69256":{"streaminfo":{"stream_ID":"1025","sourceowner_ID":"2","sourceowner_avatar":"http:\/\/content.nozzlmedia.com\/images\/sourceowner_avatar2.jpg","sourceownertype_ID":"1","stream_name":"Twitter","streamtype":"Social media","appsarray":[]},"item":{"headline":"Charboy","main_image":"http:\/\/content.nozzlmedia.com\/images\/author_avatar173212.jpg","summary":"ate a tomato and avocado for dinner...","nozzl_captured":"2010-05-12 23:02:12","geoarray":[{"state":"OR","county":"Multnomah","city":"Portland","neighborhood":"Downtown","zip":"97205","street":"462 SW 11th Ave","latitude":"45.5219","longitude":"-122.682"}],"full_content":"ate a tomato and avocado for dinner tonight. such tasty foods. just enjoyable.","body_text":"ate a tomato and avocado for dinner tonight. such tasty foods. just enjoyable.","author_name":"Charboy","author_avatar":"http:\/\/content.nozzlmedia.com\/images\/author_avatar173212.jpg","fulltext_url":"http:\/\/twitter.com\/charboy\/statuses\/13889868936","leftovers":{"twitter_id":"tag:search.twitter.com,2005:13889868936","date":"2010-05-13T02:59:59Z","location":"iPhone: 45.521866,-122.682262"},"wordarray":{"0":"ate","1":"tomato","2":"avocado","3":"dinner","4":"tonight","5":"tasty","6":"foods","7":"just","8":"enjoyable","9":"Charboy","11":"Twitter","13":"state:OR","14":"county:Multnomah, OR","15":"city:Portland, OR","16":"neighborhood:Downtown","17":"zip:97205"}}}} Question 1: How do I loop through each item (69256) when the number is random? e.g. item 1 is 123, item2 is 646? Like, for example, a normal JSON feed would have something like: {'item':{'blah':'lorem'},'item':{'blah':'ipsum'}} the JS would be like console.log(item.blah) to return lorem then ipsum in a loop How do I do it when i dont know the first item of the object? Question 2: How do I select items from the geoarray object? I tried: json.test.item.geoarray.latitude and json.test.item.geoarray['latitude']

  • What's the proper and reliable way to store an XML string as a JSON property?

    - by Edwin
Hi Folks, I want to store a string which itself is an XML string as a property of an JSON object , what's the reliable and proper way of dong this? Should I first encode the XML data into BASE64 first prior saving it to an JSON object, due to the fact that JSON does not support binary data? Example of data I want to store: { "string1" : "...moderately complex XML..." } Thank you in advance for any hints and suggestions!

  • How to customize Json serialization using Scala and Play Framework?

    - by Jonas
I would like to serialize some Scala case classes to Json. E.g my case class looks like: case class Item ( id: Int, name: String, price: BigDecimal, created: java.util.Date) and I would like to serialize it to Json like this: {"id":3, "name": "apple", "price": 8.00, "created": 123424434} so I need a custom serilization for BigDecimal and for Date. Where I want the data in milliseconds since 1 jan 1970. When using Scala and Play Framework, I can return Json using Json(myObject), but how do I customize the serialization? Or is there any recommended Scala library?

  • iPhone Development - calling external JSON API (will Apple reject?)

    - by RPM1984
Ok guys, so im new to iPhone development, so apologies if this is a silly question, but before i actually create my app i want to know if this is possible, and if Apple will reject this. (Note this is all theoretical) So i'd have a API (.NET) that runs on a cloud server somewhere and can return HTML/JSON/XML. I'll have a website that can access this API and allow customers to do some stuff (but this is not important for this question). I would then like my iPhone app to make a call to this API which would return JSON data. So my iPhone app might make a call to http://myapp/Foos which would return a JSON string of Foo objects. The iPhone app would then parse this JSON and do some funky stuff with it. So, that's the background, now the questions: Is this possible? (that is, call an external cloud API over HTTP, parse JSON response?) What are the chances of Apple rejecting this application (because it would be calling a non-Apple API) Are there any limitations (security, libraries, etc) on the iPhone/Objective-C/Cocoa that might hinder this solution? On this website, they seem to be doing exactly what im asking. Thoughts, suggestions, links would be greatly appreciated...

  • How to send JSON request to service with parameters in Objective-C

    - by user1323884
I'm creating a iPhone app, and im trying to figure out how to create a JSON request to the webservice that contains parameters. In Java this would look like this HashMap<String, String> headers = new HashMap<String, String>(); JSONObject json = new JSONObject(); json.put("nid", null); json.put("vocab", null); json.put("inturl", testoverview); json.put("mail", username); // [email protected] json.put("md5pw", password); // donkeykong headers.put("X-FBR-App", json.toString()); The header has to contain a JSON object and "X-FBR-App" before the service recognizes the request. How would this be implemented in Objective-C ?

  • How to cache dynamic javascript/jquery/ajax/json content with Akamai

    - by Starfs
Trying to wrap my head around how things are cached on a CDN and it is new territory for me. In the document we received about sending in environment requests, it says "Dynamically-generated content will not benefit much from EdgeSuite". I feel like this is a simplified statement and there has to be a way to make it so you cache dynamically generated content if the tools are configured correctly. The site we are working with runs off a wordpress database, and uses javascript and ajax to build the pages, based on the json objects that php scripts have generated. The process - user's browser this URL, browser talks to edgesuite tools which will have cached certain pre-defined elements, and then requests from the host web server anything that is not cached, once edgesuite has compiled a combination of the two, it sends that information back to the browser. Can we not simply cache all json objects (and of course images, js, css) and therefore the web browser never has to hit the host server's database, at which point in essence, we have cached our dynamic content? Does anyone have any pointers on the most efficient configuration for this type of system -- Akamai/CDN -- to served javascript/ajax/json generated pages that ideally already hit pre-cached json data? Any and all feedback is welcome!

  • LLBLGen Pro and JSON serialization

    - by FransBouma
I accidentally removed a reply from my previous blogpost, and as this blog-engine here at weblogs.asp.net is apparently falling apart, I can't re-add it as it thought it would be wise to disable comment controls on all posts, except new ones. So I'll post the reply here as a quote and reply on it. 'Steven' asks: What would the future be for LLBLGen Pro to support JSON for serialization? Would it be worth the effort for a LLBLGenPro user to bother creating some code templates to produce additional JSON serializable classes? Or just create some basic POCO classes which could be used for exchange of client/server data and use DTO to map these back to LLBGenPro ones? If I understand the work around, it is at the expense of losing xml serialization. Well, as described in the previous post, to enable JSON serialization, you can do that with a couple of lines and some attribute assignments. However, indeed, the attributes might make the XML serialization not working, as described in the previous blogpost. This is the case if the service you're using serializes objects using the DataContract serializer: this serializer will give up to serialize the entity objects to XML as the entity objects implement IXmlSerializable and this is a no-go area for the DataContract serializer. However, if your service doesn't use a DataContract serializer, or you serialize the objects manually to Xml using an xml serializer, you're fine. When you want to switch to Xml serializing again, instead of JSON in WebApi, and you have decorated the entity classes with the data-contract attributes, you can switch off the DataContract serializer, by setting a global configuration setting: var xml = GlobalConfiguration.Configuration.Formatters.XmlFormatter; xml.UseXmlSerializer = true; This will make the WebApi use the XmlSerializer, and run the normal IXmlSerializable interface implementation.

  • How to parse JSON data from web more faster [closed]

    - by Kaidul Islam Sazal
    I have json inventory inventory.json on the server like this: [ { "body" : "SUV", "color" : { "ext" : "White diamond pearl", "int" : "Taupe" }, "id" : "276181", "make" : "Acura", "miles" : 35949, "model" : "RDX", "pic" : [ { "full" : "http://images1.dealercp.com/90961/000JNBD/001_0292.jpg" } ], "power" : { "drive" : "Front wheel drive", "eng" : "2.3L DOHC PGM-FI 16-VALVE", "trans" : "Automatic" }, "price" : { "net" : 29488 }, "stock" : "6942", "trim" : "AWD 4dr Tech Pkg SUV", "vin" : "5J8TB2H53BA000334", "year" : 2011 }, { "body" : "Sedan", "color" : { "ext" : "Premium white pearl", "int" : "Taupe" }, "id" : "275622", "make" : "Acura", "miles" : 40923, "model" : "TSX", "pic" : [ { "full" : "http://images1.dealercp.com/90961/000JMC6/001_1765.jpg" } ], "power" : { "drive" : "Front wheel drive", "eng" : "2.4L L4 MPI DOHC 16V", "trans" : "Automatic" }, "price" : { "net" : 22288 }, "stock" : "6945", "trim" : "4dr Sdn I4 Auto Sedan", "vin" : "JH4CU2F66AC011933", "year" : 2010 } ] here are two index, There are almost 5000 index like this. I parsed this json like this: var url = "inventory/inventory.json"; $.getJSON(url, function(data){ $.each(data, function(index, item){ //straight-forward loop if(item.year == 2012) { $('#desc').append(item.make + ' ' + item.model + ' ' + '<br/>' + item.price.net + '<br/>' + item.pic[0].full); } }); }); This is working fine.But the problem is that, this searching and fetching process is little bit slow as there are 5000 indexes already and it's increasing day by day. It seems that, it is a straight-forward loop to parse the data and a normal brute-force method. Now I want to know if there any time efiicient way to parse more faster.Any faster method to parse instead of straight-forward loop ?

  • Collaborative Whiteboard using WebSocket in GlassFish 4 - Text/JSON and Binary/ArrayBuffer Data Transfer (TOTD #189)

    - by arungupta
This blog has published a few blogs on using JSR 356 Reference Implementation (Tyrus) as its integrated in GlassFish 4 promoted builds. TOTD #183: Getting Started with WebSocket in GlassFish TOTD #184: Logging WebSocket Frames using Chrome Developer Tools, Net-internals and Wireshark TOTD #185: Processing Text and Binary (Blob, ArrayBuffer, ArrayBufferView) Payload in WebSocket TOTD #186: Custom Text and Binary Payloads using WebSocket One of the typical usecase for WebSocket is online collaborative games. This Tip Of The Day (TOTD) explains a sample that can be used to build such games easily. The application is a collaborative whiteboard where different shapes can be drawn in multiple colors. The shapes drawn on one browser are automatically drawn on all other peer browsers that are connected to the same endpoint. The shape, color, and coordinates of the image are transfered using a JSON structure. A browser may opt-out of sharing the figures. Alternatively any browser can send a snapshot of their existing whiteboard to all other browsers. Take a look at this video to understand how the application work and the underlying code. The complete sample code can be downloaded here. The code behind the application is also explained below. The web page (index.jsp) has a HTML5 Canvas as shown: <canvas id="myCanvas" width="150" height="150" style="border:1px solid #000000;"></canvas> And some radio buttons to choose the color and shape. By default, the shape, color, and coordinates of any figure drawn on the canvas are put in a JSON structure and sent as a message to the WebSocket endpoint. The JSON structure looks like: { "shape": "square", "color": "#FF0000", "coords": { "x": 31.59999942779541, "y": 49.91999053955078 }} The endpoint definition looks like: @WebSocketEndpoint(value = "websocket",encoders = {FigureDecoderEncoder.class},decoders = {FigureDecoderEncoder.class})public class Whiteboard { As you can see, the endpoint has decoder and encoder registered that decodes JSON to a Figure (a POJO class) and vice versa respectively. The decode method looks like: public Figure decode(String string) throws DecodeException { try { JSONObject jsonObject = new JSONObject(string); return new Figure(jsonObject); } catch (JSONException ex) { throw new DecodeException("Error parsing JSON", ex.getMessage(), ex.fillInStackTrace()); }} And the encode method looks like: public String encode(Figure figure) throws EncodeException { return figure.getJson().toString();} FigureDecoderEncoder implements both decoder and encoder functionality but thats purely for convenience. But the recommended design pattern is to keep them in separate classes. In certain cases, you may even need only one of them. On the client-side, the Canvas is initialized as: var canvas = document.getElementById("myCanvas");var context = canvas.getContext("2d");canvas.addEventListener("click", defineImage, false); The defineImage method constructs the JSON structure as shown above and sends it to the endpoint using websocket.send(). An instant snapshot of the canvas is sent using binary transfer with WebSocket. The WebSocket is initialized as: var wsUri = "ws://localhost:8080/whiteboard/websocket";var websocket = new WebSocket(wsUri);websocket.binaryType = "arraybuffer"; The important part is to set the binaryType property of WebSocket to arraybuffer. This ensures that any binary transfers using WebSocket are done using ArrayBuffer as the default type seem to be blob. The actual binary data transfer is done using the following: var image = context.getImageData(0, 0, canvas.width, canvas.height);var buffer = new ArrayBuffer(image.data.length);var bytes = new Uint8Array(buffer);for (var i=0; i<bytes.length; i++) { bytes[i] = image.data[i];}websocket.send(bytes); This comprehensive sample shows the following features of JSR 356 API: Annotation-driven endpoints Send/receive text and binary payload in WebSocket Encoders/decoders for custom text payload In addition, it also shows how images can be captured and drawn using HTML5 Canvas in a JSP. How could this be turned in to an online game ? Imagine drawing a Tic-tac-toe board on the canvas with two players playing and others watching. Then you can build access rights and controls within the application itself. Instead of sending a snapshot of the canvas on demand, a new peer joining the game could be automatically transferred the current state as well. Do you want to build this game ? I built a similar game a few years ago. Do somebody want to rewrite the game using WebSocket APIs ? :-) Many thanks to Jitu and Akshay for helping through the WebSocket internals! Here are some references for you: JSR 356: Java API for WebSocket - Specification (Early Draft) and Implementation (already integrated in GlassFish 4 promoted builds) Subsequent blogs will discuss the following topics (not necessary in that order) ... • Producing JSON Documents from SQL Server queries via TSQL

Although SQL Server supports XML well, XML's little cousin JSON gets no love. This is frustrating now that JSON is in so much demand. Maybe, Phil Factor suggests, it is possible to leverage all that XML, and XPath, goodness in SQL Server to produce JSON in a versatile way from SQL Queries? Yes, it so happens that there are plenty of alternatives.
