jQuery: Finding file size and adding it to the link

Let me start by saying that I'm not a jQuery guru by any means and I genuinely know this is over my head, that's why I've come to SO. Is there a way with jQuery to find the file size of a link on a page and then inject/add the text of the file size next to the link? Here's my problem On one of my pages, I have a link to my resume which is a PDF file and to improve usability it's proper to have the file type and file size next to the link so the users have the option to decide if they want to click on that link or not. So the link would read something like "Download my resume (PDF / 80KB)" The problem is that I'm constantly updating my resume and uploading a new PDF file which, of course, has a different file size so I'm always going back to the HTML and changing the text to reflect the new file size. Is there a way to automate this with jQuery... or plain JavaScript for that matter? I found this script and made a demo here in Codepen but it doesn't seem to work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

How to insert Google Adsense in a single post after the  Tag

I'm using wordpress, and I want to add the adsense javascript tags where the Read More tag goes in a blogpost. It's stored as  in the database, but when you use the_content() this is automatically changed before I have the chance to use a str_replace() function. I'm looking to place an adsense tag for each post in the single.php page where the teaser ends. Has anyone been able to do this?

Xpath to get the 2nd url with the matching text in the href tag

A html page has paging links, 1 set at the top of the page and another on the bottom of the page. Using HtmlUnit, I am currently getting the HtmlAnchor on the page using getByAnchorText("1"); There is a problem in some of the links on the top, so I want to reference the bottom links using XPath. nextPageAnchor = (HtmlAnchor) page.getByXPath(""); How can I reference the 2nd link on the page, with using xpath? I need to reference the link using the AnchorText, so a link like: <a href="....">33</a> The href has random text, and is a javascript function so I have no idea what it will be. Is this possible with xpath?

Hi, In my web application, I use strust2 url tag to pass parameters like id etc., For example, I use a link to delete an entity and I use param to pass the id of the entity to be deleted. And I follow this throughout my web app for adding, editing, deleting an entity. During run time, sometimes, I don't get the params to be stored in my action's bean properties. When I see the link that is generated, I get something like <a href='/projit1/p/discuss/viewDiscussion.action?d=11&amp;amp;projid=11&amp;disid=4'> What are these amps for ? why do they sit in between the action calls (made by link via url tag actions ) ? By the time I traverse back and forth in my web app, I get 10s and 20s of amp sitting in the request URL. What is the problem here ? Please help.

facebook meta tag description not updating

3 days ago I updated description within the meta tag of facebook, but change does not reflect when sharing link on facebook. Instead old description still appears. According to Facebook, it scrapes your page every 24 hours to ensure the description (and other share data) are up to date. However, one can manually refresh it by entering the post URL into the Facebook URL Linter I did manually refresh it as well as now waited for 3 days. When i see debugging output from linter, it shows the correct up-to-date description, but old description still shown when sharing a link. How to reproduce: This is our website: https://www.tradeinsports.se/#tis1 (It's in swedish so bear with me please). If you go to above link and click on any of the two available products, and then share on facebook, you can see the difference in description from the one which appears in linter debugging output. Any help would be appreciated.

Symbolic links and 7zip

I'm trying to compress a folder into a .7z archive. This folder contains symbolic links to some other stuff outside the folder (both directories and files). Apparently 7zip just archives the link it's self which is not what I intended. Is there a way to tell 7zip that I want it to archive the stuff that it links too, not the link its self (so if there is a symlink name "foo" which points to "C:\stuff\foo" I want it to include the "C:\stuff\foo" stuff in the archive in place of foo, not a "0 byte" symlink... Failing that is there any reasonable around it, apart from adding the files and folders in question? Including the stuff through the symlink there's like 10 000 files, the large proportion of which are via symlinks so adding them all individually would take hours... I'm thinking mayby a program that creates a staging folder with the real files in it then passes that to 7zip, or just an archiver that does handle them better?

Just to give you and idea of my problem ... I want to change all the symbolic links inside a particular folder .. Is it inefficient to have symbolic links to symbolic links?

We're setting up a series of Makefiles where we want to have a project-level include directory that will have symbolic links to sub-project-level include files. Many sub-project developers have chosen to have their include files also be symbolic links to yet another directory where the actual software is located. So my question is, is it inefficient to have a symbolic link to a symbolic link to another file (for, say, a C++ header that may be included dozens or more times during a compile)? Example directory tree: /project/include/ x_header1.h -> /project/src/csci_x/include/header1.h x_header2.h -> /project/src/csci_x/include/header2.h /project/src/csci_x/ include/ header1.h -> /project/src/csci_x/local_1/cxx/header1.h header2.h -> /project/src/csci_x/local_2/cxx/header2.h local_1/cxx/ module1.cpp header1.h local_2/cxx/ module2.cpp header2.h

Cant remove/delete symlink

Cloud storage services offering one-time download links? [closed]

Is anyone aware of consumer-targeted cloud storage services that allow users to generate a one-time download link for hosted files? Case in point: I have an encrypted container with some documents I need to send to a vendor. I would prefer to give them a one-time download link, so that I know when they have accessed the file, and then inform them of the passphrase by phone. I have heard that MediaFire offers 1-time links, but that they are buried in tons of advertising. At the moment, I'm not sure that I consider MediaFire fully legitimate; I'm more interested in solutions with Google Drive, Box.net, DropBox, etc.

Why can't I access the WebUI of my DNS-323 NAS after a firmware upgrade?

Hi Everyone, I just bought a D-Link DNS-323 NAS Enclosure, and have run into a problem. I read that the firmware that had shipped with (1.07) did not support 2TB drives, so I downloaded firmware 1.08. Turned on the device for thwe first time and went straight to the WebUI (everything looked/worked fine) Proceeded with the firmware update, completed successfully. Rebooted and I cannot access the WebUI. I can see the NAS connected via my router interface I can also ping the ip adress assigned, but I cannot access the WebUI or find it via D-Link easy search software. I have tried the factory reset button, but that does not seem to be doing anything, the square blue light just keeps flashing from the moment the unit is powered on, whether I press the reset button or not, and the symptoms remain the same... PS. I did/do not have any drives installed yet. Please help?

I have a Windows 7 amd64 box where one directory is shared: local path is d:\drop\ remote path is \\aloism\drop from SMB point of view, Everyone has Read and Write permission ACLs for the folder are set so that all authenticated users have read and write permissions:NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(OI)(CI)C (which is inherited to all levels below) Now I create a symbolic link within the structure of the directory: D:\drop>mklink /d tools2 tools symbolic link created for tools2 <<===>> tools The problem is that I can't access this new directory from any of the remote machines (a Windows 7 box and a Windows XP box—both behave the same way): C:\>dir \\aloism\drop\tools2\ Volume in drive \\aloism\drop is droot Volume Serial Number is FA73-1897 Directory of \\aloism\drop\tools2 File Not Found How can I make it work? Possibly also for files?

I get org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /index.jsp(2,1) Unterminated <%@ page tag The page tags look like this: <%@ page import="java.util.*" %> <%@ page import="au.edu.uwa.peb.autoextractor.model.ScanResultItem"; %> This seems to indicate to me that a < does not have a corresponding tag ... is this so ... my IDE does not highlight any errors so how can I find this unterminated tag. Is there a JSP validation tool that I can use, perhaps online? Use spring tag in XSLT

I have a XSL/XML parser to produce jsp/html code. Using MVC model I need to accees spring library in order to perform i18n translation. Thus, given the xml <a> ... <country>EN</country> ... </a> and using <spring:message code="table_country_code.EN"/> tag, choose based on the browser language, the transalation into England, Inglaterra, etc... However, the XSL do not support <spring:message> tag. The idea is to have a XSLT with something like this <spring:message code="table_country_code.><xsl:value-of select="country"/>"/>` I also tried to create the spring tag in Java when I make a parse to create the XML but I sill have the same error. Cannot find CFML template for custom tag

Hi folks, I am not a ColdFusion coder. Doing a favor for a friend who ported his CF site from a Windows server to Unix on GoDaddy. Site is displaying error: Cannot find CFML template for custom tag jstk. ColdFusion attempted looking in the tree of installed custom tags but did not find a custom tag with this name. The site as I found it has at document root /CustomTags with the jstk.cfm file and a set of files in cf_jstk My Googling located this You must store custom tag pages in any one of the following: The same directory as the calling page; The cfusion\CustomTags directory; A subdirectory of the cfusion\CustomTags directory; A directory that you specify in the ColdFusion Administrator So I have Tried creating placing /CustomTags in /cfusion/CustomTags Tried copying /cfusion/CustomTags to above document root Tried copying jstk.cfm and subfolders into same directory as calling file(index.cfm). Update: Per GoDaddy support I have also tried adding the following to no effect: Can any one give me some tips on this or should I just tell my guy to look for a CF coder? Thanks! JG

how to handle base tag target attribute in iphone uiwebview to open new window

When the links are supposed to open a new window, iphone uiwebview won't trigger an event when user click these links. We had to use javascript to do some trick to the target attribute of the links. I can handle 'a' tag to open in the '_self' window with the trick without problem. But when I do it the same way with the 'base' tag. it doesn't work. I believe the base target is set by the javascript. But the base tag is in the head, which may be handled by the uiwebview before my javascript executed, so the target change may not reflected in the webkit engine. Could someone please give some suggestion, so I can open the link in the same uiwebview? I'm trying to get the following html out of Zend_Form <div class="group wat-cf"> <div class="left"> <label class="label right">Username</label> </div> <div class="right"> <input type="text" class="text_field"> </div> </div> Using the following code: $username->setAttrib("class", "text_field") ->setDecorators(array( 'ViewHelper', 'Description', 'Errors', array(array('data'=>'HtmlTag'), array('tag' => 'div', 'class' => 'right')), array('Label', array('tag' => 'div', 'class' => 'label right')), array(array('row'=>'HtmlTag'),array('tag'=>'div', 'class' => 'group wat-cf')) )); I can get the next fragment <div class="group wat-cf"> <div id="username-label"> <label for="username" class="label right required">Username:</label> </div> <div class="right"> <input type="text" name="username" id="username" value="" class="text_field"> </div> </div> so apart from some extra id's and required classes i don't mind, i need to get a class "left" on div id="username-label" Now adding class to the Label line, gets the class added on the element. I also don't see and option to do this in the Label decorator code itself. So i need a custom Label decorator, or is there some other way i'm missing?

Beginner SQL question: querying gold and silver tag badges in Stack Exchange Data Explorer

I'm using the Stack Exchange Data Explorer to learn SQL, but I think the fundamentals of the question is applicable to other databases. I'm trying to query the Badges table, which according to Stexdex (that's what I'm going to call it from now on) has the following schema: Badges Id UserId Name Date This works well for badges like [Epic] and [Legendary] which have unique names, but the silver and gold tag-specific badges seems to be mixed in together by having the same exact name. Is it perhaps more typical to do two totally separate queries instead? What is this idiom called? A row "partitioning" query to put them into "buckets" or something?

Performing text processing on flatpage content to include handling of custom tag

Hi. I'm using flatpages app in my project to manage some html content. That content will include images, so I've made a ContentImage model allowing user to upload images using admin panel. The user should then be able to include those images in content of the flatpages. He can of course do that by manually typing image url into <img> tag, but that's not what I'm looking for. To make including images more convenient, I'm thinking about something like this: User edits an additional, let's say pre_content field of CustomFlatPage model (I'm using custom flatpage model already) instead of defining <img> tags directly, he uses a custom tag, something like [img=...] where ... is name of the ContentImage instance now the hardest part: before CustomFlatPage is saved, pre_content field is checked for all [img=...] occurences and they are processed like this: ContentImage model is searched if there's image instance with given name and if so, [img=...] is replaced with proper <img> tag. flatpage actual content is filled with processed pre_content and then flatpage is saved (pre_content is leaved unchanged, as edited by user) The part that I can't cope with is text processing. Should I use regular expressions? Apparently they can be slow for large strings. And how to organize logic? I assume it's rather algorithmic question, but I'm not familliar with text processing in Python enough, to do it myself. Can somebody give me any clues?

Deleting an XML tag using C#

FIRST EDIT I'm fetching the Child 1 tag into a DropDownList in my C# form, Plz suggest the best practise code (C#) for deleting a Particular Parent tag & all it's child tags in an XML file. Remove a tag type from the view

I have an index view that lists all of the tags for my Entry and Message models. I would like to only show the tags for Entries in this view. I'm using acts-as-taggable-on. jQuery is not picking up correct values from a Div Tag

I want to pick up the values in a Div tag like which is some what like this <html> <head> </head> <body> <div id="page"> <html> <head></head> <body> Hellow World </body> </html> </div> </body> </html> I want to select the content inside a div tag . var msg = $("#page").html(); alert(msg); this code is not working . i want that whole 2nd page along with the HTML tag is copied. How do i do that ? I want the output to be the WHOLE thing INCLUDING the HTML tags
