• Python UTF-8 can't decode byte on 32-bit machine

  it works fine on 64 bit machines but for some reason will not work on python 2.4.3 on a 32-bit instance. i get the error 'utf8' codec can't decode bytes in position 76-79: invalid data for the code try: str(sourceresult.sourcename).encode('utf8','replace') except: raise Exception( repr(sourceresult.sourcename ) ) it returns 'kazamidori blog\xf9' i have modified my site.py file to make UTF8 the default encoding, but still doesnt seem to be working.

  I'm using Pylons and want to add some middleware to it so that it catches 401 status codes and makes HTTP Redirect (302) to Signin page. I know there is built-in StatusCodeRedirect in Pylons that acts in a similar fashion, but it does not produce HTTP redirect, and rather redirects internally (this is what I do not want). Is there any existing middleware to add, or any generic middleware that can be easily modified to make HTTP redirects on specific status codes?

  Is there a way to go through different commits on a file. Say I modified a file 5 times and I want to go back to change 2, after I already committed and pushed to a repository. In my understanding the only way is to keep many branches, have I got that right? If I'm right I'm gonna have hundreds of branches in a few days, so I'm probably not understanding it really.   I'm writing a C++ app. I have a class variable that more than one thread is writing to. In C++, anything that can be modified without the compiler "realizing" that it's being changed needs to be marked volatile right? So if my code is multi threaded, and one thread may write to a var while another reads from it, do I need to mark the var volaltile? [I don't have a race condition since I'm relying on writes to ints being atomic] Thanks!

  Hi, when compiling some projects on linux terminal, I get usually a long output consisting of a lot of information. Usually this information is MONOCHROME. • Database concurrency issue in .NET application

  If userA deleted OrderA while userB is modifying OrderA, then userB saves OrderA then there is no order in the database to be updated. My problem is there is no error! The SqlDataAdapter.Update succeeds and returns a "1" indicating a record was modified when this is not true. Does anybody know how this is supposed to work, thanks.

  I have created a simple view consisting of 3 tables in SQL. By right clicking and selecting Design, in the Object explorer table, i modified my custom view. I just added sortby asc in a field. The problem is that the changes are not reflected in the outout of the View. After saving the view, and selecting Open view the sort is not displayed in output. So what is going on here?

  I have a large codebase that I've been tasked with porting to 64 bits. The code compiles, but it prints a very large amount of incompatible pointer warnings (as is to be expected.) Is there any way I can have gcc print the line on which the error occurs? At this point I'm just using gcc's error messages to try to track down assumptions that need to be modified, and having to look up every one is not fun.
