  • C++0x Smart Pointer Comparisons: Inconsistent, what's the rationale?

    - by GManNickG
In C++0x (n3126), smart pointers can be compared, both relationally and for equality. However, the way this is done seems inconsistent to me. For example, shared_ptr defines operator< be equivalent to: template <typename T, typename U> bool operator<(const shared_ptr<T>& a, const shared_ptr<T>& b) { return std::less<void*>()(a.get(), b.get()); } Using std::less provides total ordering with respect to pointer values, unlike a vanilla relational pointer comparison, which is unspecified. However, unique_ptr defines the same operator as: template <typename T1, typename D1, typename T2, typename D2> bool operator<(const unique_ptr<T1, D1>& a, const unique_ptr<T2, D2>& b) { return a.get() < b.get(); } It also defined the other relational operators in similar fashion. Why the change in method and "completeness"? That is, why does shared_ptr use std::less while unique_ptr uses the built-in operator<? And why doesn't shared_ptr also provide the other relational operators, like unique_ptr? I can understand the rationale behind either choice: with respect to method: it represents a pointer so just use the built-in pointer operators, versus it needs to be usable within an associative container so provide total ordering (like a vanilla pointer would get with the default std::less predicate template argument) with respect to completeness: it represents a pointer so provide all the same comparisons as a pointer, versus it is a class type and only needs to be less-than comparable to be used in an associative container, so only provide that requirement But I don't see why the choice changes depending on the smart pointer type. What am I missing? Bonus/related: std::shared_ptr seems to have followed from boost::shared_ptr, and the latter omits the other relational operators "by design" (and so std::shared_ptr does too). Why is this?

  • Why this doesnt't work in C++?

    - by user3377450
    I'm doing something and I have this: //main.cpp file template<typename t1, typename t2> std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream& os, const std::pair<t1, t2>& pair) { return os << "< " << pair.first << " , " << pair.second << " >"; } int main() { std::map<int, int> map = { { 1, 2 }, { 2, 3 } }; std::cout << *map.begin() << std::endl;//This works std::copy(map.begin(), map.end(), std::ostream_iterator<std::pair<int,int> >(std::cout, " "));//this doesn't work } I guess this is not working because in the std::copy algorithm the operator isn't defined, but what can I do?

  • what's the job of std::unique_lock when used with std::conditional_variable::wait()

    - by Mike
I'm quite confused with the need of a std::unique_lock when wait a std::conditional_variable. So I look into the library code in VS 2013 and get more confused. This is how std::conditional_variable::wait() implemented: void wait(unique_lock<mutex>& _Lck) { // wait for signal _Cnd_waitX(&_Cnd, &_Lck.mutex()->_Mtx); } Is this some kind of joke? Wrap a mutex in a unique_lock and do nothing but get it back latter? Why not just use mutex in the parameter list?

  • What encoding does c32rtomb convert to?

    - by R. Martinho Fernandes
The functions c32rtomb and mbrtoc32 from <cuchar>/<uchar.h> are described in the C Unicode TR (draft) as performing conversions between UTF-321 and "multibyte characters". (...) If s is not a null pointer, the c32rtomb function determines the number of bytes needed to represent the multibyte character that corresponds to the wide character given by c32 (including any shift sequences), and stores the multibyte character representation in the array whose first element is pointed to by s. (...) What is this "multibyte character representation"? I'm actually interested in the behaviour of the following program: #include <cassert> #include <cuchar> #include <string> int main() { std::u32string u32 = U"this is a wide string"; std::string narrow = "this is a wide string"; std::string converted(1000, '\0'); char* ptr = &converted[0]; std::mbstate_t state {}; for(auto u : u32) { ptr += std::c32rtomb(ptr, u, &state); } converted.resize(ptr - &converted[0]); assert(converted == narrow); } Is the assertion in it guaranteed to hold1? 1 Working under the assumption that __STDC_UTF_32__ is defined.

  • Why is there no way to undo 'using' in C++?

    - by mstearn
I've often found myself wanting a way to undo the effect of a using statement or to include all of a namespace (such as std) but exclude a bit to be replaced (such as cout). For some reason this isn't possible. I am wondering if anyone knows why it was decided not to add this ability to the language? Is there some technical reason? I assume it wasn't just forgotten since it doesn't seem slated for C++0x either. Just to clarify, I'm not looking for workarounds since Google can show me those. I'm looking for an explanation of why this is impossible, and why it was not considered (as far as I can tell) for inclusion in 0x.

  • Windows setevent processsing

    - by Waldorf
I wonder how setevent is handled internally within Windows. I have the following situation Std::thread thread loop which executes while std::atomic == true Inside the loop is a waitforsingleObject which sleeps infinite in alertable state. A function stopThread() which does the following: - Clears the atomic bool - Calls Setevent on the event object - Calls thread.join This often hangs, I get the impression that setevent has still some work to do in the current thread, while join blocks the current thread. If I add an additional Boolean in the thread which is set after waitforsinlgleObject and I wait for this to be set before calling join() Everything seems to work ok. Code (error checking omitted here) Init code/declarations: HANDLE m_WakeupThreadEvent; std::atomic<bool> m_ReceiverEnabled; m_WakeupThreadEvent = CreateEvent(NULL, false, false, "RxThreadWakeupEvent" ); Thread code: while(m_ReceiverEnabled) { DWORD rslt = WaitForSingleObjectEx(m_WakeupThreadEvent, INFINITE, true); // Here some checking for rslt; } function code: m_ReceiverEnabled = true; SetEvent( m_WakeupThreadEvent ) m_Thread.join() Is there some explanation for this behavior ? I could not find any details about the operation of setEvent()

    - by user1163428
i am trying to start a c++ exe file from c# by a click of a button , but it is throwing an Exception of type 'System.Exception' at process.start(); , although the file is correct . i have tried : private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "E:\\tc\\5a.exe"; myProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; myProcess.Start(); } when i view details of this exception it shows "The parameter is incorrect" the file is present at e:\tc when i do same thing but in filename i keep "cmd.exe" it works . thank you in advance

  • Configuring Oracle iPlanet WebServer / Oracle Traffic Director to use crypto accelerators on T4-1 servers

    - by mv
Configuring Oracle iPlanet Web Server / Oracle Traffic Director to use crypto accelerators on T4-1 servers Jyri had written a technical article on Configuring Solaris Cryptographic Framework and Sun Java System Web Server 7 on Systems With UltraSPARC T1 Processors. I tried to find out what has changed since then in T4. I have used a T4-1 SPARC system with Solaris 10. Results slightly vary for Solaris 11.  For Solaris 11, the T4 optimization was implemented in libsoftcrypto.so while it was in pkcs11_softtoken_extra.so for Solaris 10. Overview of T4 processors is here in this blog. Many thanx to Chi-Chang Lin and Julien for their help. 1. Install Oracle iPlanet Web Server / Oracle Traffic Director.  Go to instance/config directory.  # cd /opt/oracle/webserver7/https-hostname.fqdn/config 2. List default PKCS#11 Modules # ../../bin/modutil -dbdir . -listListing of PKCS #11 Modules-----------------------------------------------------------1. Initialize the soft token data store in the $HOME/.sunw/pkcs11_softtoken/ directory # pktool setpin keystore=pkcs11Enter token passphrase: olderpasswordCreate new passphrase: passwordRe-enter new passphrase: passwordPassphrase changed. 4. Offload crypto operations to Solaris Crypto Framework on T4 $ ../../bin/modutil -dbdir . -nocertdb -add SCF -libfile /usr/lib/libpkcs11.so -mechanisms RSA:AES:SHA1:MD5 Module "SCF" added to database. Note that -nocertdb means modutil won't try to open the NSS softoken key database. It doesn't even have to be present. PKCS#11 library used is /usr/lib/libpkcs11.so. If the server is running in 64 bit mode, we have to use /usr/lib/64/libpkcs11.so Unlike T1 and T2, in T4 we do not have to disable mechanisms in softtoken provider using cryptoadm. 5. List again to check that a new module SCF is added # ../../bin/modutil -dbdir . -list Listing of PKCS #11 Modules-----------------------------------------------------------1. After that server.xml should have <http-listener> ...    <ssl>        <server-cert-nickname>Sun Metaslot:Server-Cert</server-cert-nicknamer>    </ssl> Note the prefix "Sun Metaslot" 9. Disable PKCS#11 bypass To use the accelerated AES algorithm, turn off PKCS#11 bypass, and configure modutil to have the AES mechanism go to the Metaslot. After you disable PKCS#11 bypasss using Admin GUI/CLI,  check that server.xml should have <server> ....    <pkcs11>         <enabled>1</enabled>         <allow-bypass>0</allow-bypass>     </pkcs11> With PKCS#11 bypass enabled, Oracle iPlanet Web Server will only use the RSA capability of the T4, provided certificate and key are stored in the T4 slot (Metaslot). Actually, the RSA op is never bypassed in NSS, it's always done with PKCS#11 calls. So the bypass settings won't affect the behavior of the probes for RSA at all. The only thing that matters if where the RSA key and certificate live, ie. which PKCS#11 token, and thus which PKCS#11 module gets called to do the work. If your certificate/key are in the NSS certificate/key db, you will see libsoftokn3/libfreebl libraries doing the RSA work. If they are in the Sun Metaslot, it should be the Solaris code. 10. Start the server instance # ../bin/startserv Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.16 B09/14/2012 03:33Please enter the PIN for the "Sun Metaslot" token: password...info: HTTP3072: http-listener-1: https://hostname.fqdn:80 ready to accept requestsinfo: CORE3274: successful server startup 11. • Removing Little Snitch completely (Mac OS X Snow Leopard)

    - by Mathias Bynens
    I uninstalled Little Snitch months ago. Or so, I thought. When opening Console.app, I see something like this: Here’s a textual log: 21/11/09 22:05:31 com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd[10045]) Exited with exit code: 1 21/11/09 22:05:31 com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds 21/11/09 22:05:33 Little Snitch UIAgent[10046] 2.0.4.385: m65968c1c 21/11/09 22:05:33 Little Snitch UIAgent[10046] 2.0.4.385: m579328b9 21/11/09 22:05:33 Little Snitch UIAgent[10046] 2.0.4.385: m41531ded 21/11/09 22:05:33 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[170] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds 21/11/09 22:05:41 com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd[10049]) Exited with exit code: 1 21/11/09 22:05:41 com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds 21/11/09 22:05:43 Little Snitch UIAgent[10050] 2.0.4.385: m65968c1c 21/11/09 22:05:43 Little Snitch UIAgent[10050] 2.0.4.385: m579328b9 21/11/09 22:05:43 Little Snitch UIAgent[10050] 2.0.4.385: m41531ded 21/11/09 22:05:43 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[170] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds Spotlight searches for ‘little snitch’ or ‘littlesnitch’ yield no results. Yet, it seems like I didn’t get rid of Little Snitch entirely, since it’s still using up my CPU. Any ideas?

  • Upgrading Redmine, activerecord-mysql2-adapter not recognized

    - by David Kaczynski
For upgrading Redmine from 1.0.1 to 2.1.2, I need to execute the command: rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production However, doing so produces the following error: rake aborted! Please install the mysql2 adapter: gem install activerecord-mysql2-adapter (mysql2 is not part of the bundle. Add it to Gemfile.) I have ran gem install activerecord-mysql2-adapter, but I still get the same error when I try to run the rake ... command. How do I get my RoR app to recognize that I have the mysql2 adapter installed already? or Is there something wrong with my activerecord-mysql2-adapter installation? When Sun released Solaris 10, it was my first migration phase to a new Solaris major release while being part of Sun. At that time i heard a lot of comments between "Oh, we will install it on new systems on day 1" to "oh ... not that fast ... we will wait ... we are not that fast ... we will do it in a year". I would like to get some additional insight and so i set up the poll plugin for s9y to get the answer to the question "How long will you wait before using Solaris 11 on production system?". Thank you for your participation!

  • Result of the "How long do you wait before Solaris 11 gets on your prod systems?"

    - by nospam(at)example.com (Joerg Moellenkamp)
I just removed the poll at 10:52, so this is the final result: My conclusions out of it: While the removal of UltraSPARC I to VI+ support in Solaris 11 may hit some of the people voting in the categories "Wait?" to "6 month", most of the users keep Solaris 10 running on their existing system anyway or migrate that late that even the newest system have reached their end-of-service-live or are near of it, so a migration doesn't sound that feasible. So i assume Product Management was right with their decision to remove the support in order to make the feature i can't talk of possible, as i don't think that many of the early migrators are still using the system in question, as most systems have reached EOSL. Didn't thought that there would be people waiting three years and more ...

  • Varnish 3.0.2 to Apache2 sometimes return error 503

    - by Ronnie Jespersen
Hey guys I hope you can help me out here. I have an Ngingx parsing http and https to a varnish cache(3.0.2). From the varnish it is sent to apache2. Now I have for some time been tracking some strange 503 errors. But I cant seem to find the silver bullet. Currently I am logging the 503 errors through varnish this way: sudo varnishlog -c -m TxStatus:503 >> /home/rj/varnishlog503.log and then referring to the apache access log to see if any 503 requests have been handled. Today I had a health check from the firewall that failed: 20 SessionOpen c 127.0.0.1 34319 :8081 20 ReqStart c 127.0.0.1 34319 607335635 20 RxRequest c HEAD 20 RxURL c /health-check 20 RxProtocol c HTTP/1.0 20 RxHeader c X-Real-IP: 192.168.3.254 20 RxHeader c Host: 192.168.3.189 20 RxHeader c X-Forwarded-For: 192.168.3.254 20 RxHeader c Connection: close 20 RxHeader c User-Agent: Astaro Service Monitor 0.9 20 RxHeader c Accept: */* 20 VCL_call c recv lookup 20 VCL_call c hash 20 Hash c /health-check 20 VCL_return c hash 20 VCL_call c miss fetch 20 Backend c 33 aurum aurum 20 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 20 VCL_call c error deliver 20 VCL_call c deliver deliver 20 TxProtocol c HTTP/1.1 20 TxStatus c 503 20 TxResponse c Service Unavailable 20 TxHeader c Server: Varnish 20 TxHeader c Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 20 TxHeader c Retry-After: 5 20 TxHeader c Content-Length: 879 20 TxHeader c Accept-Ranges: bytes 20 TxHeader c Date: Wed, 06 Jun 2012 12:35:12 GMT 20 TxHeader c X-Varnish: 607335635 20 TxHeader c Age: 60 20 TxHeader c Via: 1.1 varnish 20 TxHeader c Connection: close 20 Length c 879 20 ReqEnd c 607335635 1338986052.649786949 1338986112.648169994 0.000160217 59.997980356 0.000402689 Now the backend server (apache) does not have any 503 error in the access log at this point. So I am confused. Is this varnish throwing a 503 because it thinks apache is to slow? There is a lot traffic coming through at this point so I know the server is up and running. I do have other 503 error codes with posts and gets so there is really no pattern. It seems to be at random times and random requests. Even in the morning when the server dosen't seem to be doing anything. I do see another pattern in the log: 4 VCL_call c recv pass 4 VCL_call c hash 4 Hash c /?id=412 4 VCL_return c hash 4 VCL_call c pass pass 4 FetchError c no backend connection 4 VCL_call c error deliver 4 VCL_call c deliver deliver Here fetcherror says "no backend connection". A summery of the FetchErrors in todays log: 16 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 5 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 4 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 19 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 5 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 23 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 24 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 16 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 6 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 4 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 5 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 4 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 4 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 22 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 6 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 21 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 26 FetchError c no backend connection 4 FetchError c no backend connection 20 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) 39 FetchError c http first read error: -1 11 (No error recorded) I haven't changed the default timeout values for varnish. • How to tell if SPARC T4 crypto is being used?

    - by danx
A question that often comes up when running applications on SPARC T4 systems is "How can I tell if hardware crypto accleration is being used?" To review, the SPARC T4 processor includes a crypto unit that supports several crypto instructions. For hardware crypto these include 11 AES instructions, 4 xmul* instructions (for AES GCM carryless multiply), mont for Montgomery multiply (optimizes RSA and DSA), and 5 des_* instructions (for DES3). For hardware hash algorithm optimization, the T4 has the md5, sha1, sha256, and sha512 instructions (the last two are used for SHA-224 an SHA-384). First off, it's easy to tell if the processor T4 crypto instructions—use the isainfo -v command and look for "sparcv9" and "aes" (and other hash and crypto algorithms) in the output: $ isainfo -v 64-bit sparcv9 applications crc32c cbcond pause mont mpmul sha512 sha256 sha1 md5 camellia kasumi des aes ima hpc vis3 fmaf asi_blk_init vis2 vis popc These instructions are not-privileged, so are available for direct use in user-level applications and libraries (such as OpenSSL). Here is the "openssl speed -evp" command shown with the built-in t4 engine and with the pkcs11 engine. Both run the T4 AES instructions, but the t4 engine is faster than the pkcs11 engine because it has less overhead (especially for smaller packet sizes): t-4 $ /usr/bin/openssl version OpenSSL 1.0.0j 10 May 2012 t-4 $ /usr/bin/openssl engine (t4) SPARC T4 engine support (dynamic) Dynamic engine loading support (pkcs11) PKCS #11 engine support t-4 $ /usr/bin/openssl speed -evp aes-128-cbc # t4 engine used by default . . . The 'numbers' are in 1000s of bytes per second processed. type 16 bytes 64 bytes 256 bytes 1024 bytes 8192 bytes aes-128-cbc 487777.10k 816822.21k 986012.59k 1017029.97k 1053543.08k t-4 $ /usr/bin/openssl speed -engine pkcs11 -evp aes-128-cbc engine "pkcs11" set. . . . The 'numbers' are in 1000s of bytes per second processed. type 16 bytes 64 bytes 256 bytes 1024 bytes 8192 bytes aes-128-cbc 31703.58k 116636.39k 350672.81k 696170.50k 993599.49k Note: The "-evp" flag indicates use the OpenSSL "EnVeloPe" API, which gives more accurate results. That's because it tells OpenSSL to use the same API that external programs use when calling OpenSSL libcrypto functions, evp(3openssl). DTrace Shows if T4 Crypto Functions Are Used OK, good enough, the isainfo(1) command shows the instructions are present, but how does one know if they are being used? Chi-Chang Lin, who works on Oracle Solaris performance, wrote a Dtrace script to show if T4 instructions are being executed. To show the T4 instructions are being used, run the following Dtrace script. Look for functions named "t4" and "yf" in the output. The OpenSSL T4 engine uses functions named "t4" and the PKCS#11 engine uses functions named "yf". To demonstrate, I'll first run "openssl speed" with the built-in t4 engine then with the pkcs11 engine. The performance numbers are not valid due to dtrace probes slowing things down. t-4 # dtrace -Z -n ' pid$target::*yf*:entry,pid$target::*t4_*:entry{ @[probemod, probefunc] = count();}' \ -c "/usr/bin/openssl speed -evp aes-128-cbc" dtrace: description 'pid$target::*yf*:entry' matched 101 probes . . . dtrace: pid 2029 has exited libcrypto.so.1.0.0 ENGINE_load_t4 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_DH 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_DSA 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_RSA 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_destroy 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_free_aes_ctr_NIDs 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_init 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_add_NID 3 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_aes_expand128 5 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_cipher_init_aes 5 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_get_all_ciphers 6 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_get_all_digests 59 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_digest_final_sha1 65 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_digest_init_sha1 65 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_sha1_multiblock 126 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_digest_update_sha1 261 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_aes128_cbc_encrypt 1432979 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_aes128_load_keys_for_encrypt 1432979 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_cipher_do_aes_128_cbc 1432979 t-4 # dtrace -Z -n 'pid$target::*yf*:entry{ @[probemod, probefunc] = count();}   pid$target::*yf*:entry,pid$target::*t4_*:entry{ @[probemod, probefunc] = count();}' \ -c "/usr/bin/openssl speed -engine pkcs11 -evp aes-128-cbc" dtrace: description 'pid$target::*yf*:entry' matched 101 probes engine "pkcs11" set. . . . dtrace: pid 2033 has exited libcrypto.so.1.0.0 ENGINE_load_t4 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_DH 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_DSA 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_RSA 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_destroy 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_free_aes_ctr_NIDs 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_get_all_ciphers 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_get_all_digests 1 libsoftcrypto.so.1 rijndael_key_setup_enc_yf 1 libsoftcrypto.so.1 yf_aes_expand128 1 libcrypto.so.1.0.0 t4_add_NID 3 libsoftcrypto.so.1 yf_aes128_cbc_encrypt 1542330 libsoftcrypto.so.1 yf_aes128_load_keys_for_encrypt 1542330 So, as shown above the OpenSSL built-in t4 engine executes t4_* functions (which are hand-coded assembly executing the T4 AES instructions) and the OpenSSL pkcs11 engine executes *yf* functions. Programmatic Use of OpenSSL T4 engine The OpenSSL t4 engine is used automatically with the /usr/bin/openssl command line. Chi-Chang Lin also points out that if you're calling the OpenSSL API (libcrypto.so) from a program, you must call ENGINE_load_built_engines(), otherwise the built-in t4 engine will not be loaded. You do not call ENGINE_set_default(). That's because "openssl speed -evp" test calls ENGINE_load_built_engines() even though the "-engine" option wasn't specified. OpenSSL T4 engine Availability The OpenSSL t4 engine is available with Solaris 11 and 11.1. For Solaris 10 08/11 (U10), you need to use the OpenSSL pkcs311 engine. The OpenSSL t4 engine is distributed only with the version of OpenSSL distributed with Solaris (and not third-party or self-compiled versions of OpenSSL). The OpenSSL engine implements the AES cipher for Solaris 11, released 11/2011. For Solaris 11.1, released 11/2012, the OpenSSL engine adds optimization for the MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-2 hash algorithms, and DES-3. Although the T4 processor has Camillia and Kasumi block cipher instructions, these are not implemented in the OpenSSL T4 engine. The following charts may help view availability of optimizations. The first chart shows what's available with Solaris CLIs and APIs, the second chart shows what's available in Solaris OpenSSL. You can download the source from the same website or through Mercurial source code management, hg(1). Conclusion Oracle Solaris with SPARC T4 provides a rich set of accelerated cryptographic and hash algorithms. Using the latest update, Solaris 11.1, provides the best set of optimized algorithms, but alternatives are often available, sometimes slightly slower, for releases back to Solaris 10 08/11 (U10). • In utf-8 collation, why 11- is less then 1- ?

    - by ???
I found that the sort result in ASCII: 1- 11- and in UTF-8: 11- 1- I feel it's so counter-intuitive, and it's not dictionary order. Isn't the character '-' (002d) is always less then [0-9] (0030-0039)? What's the general rule in UTF-8 collation? And how to bypass it, just make - be less then [0-9] while keep other characters unchanged for UTF-8, in Linux? (So it can affects the result of ls --sort, sort, etc. )

  • Oracle Traffic Director – download and check out new cool features in 11.1.1.7.0 by Frances Zhao

    - by JuergenKress
As Oracle's strategic layer-7 software load balancer product, Oracle Traffic Direct is fast, reliable, secure, easy-to-use and scalable; that you can deploy as the reliable entry point for all TCP, HTTP and HTTPS traffic to application servers and web servers in your network. The latest release Oracle Traffic Director 11.1.1.7.0 is available for ExaLogic and Database Appliance! For download and details please visit the Traffic Director OTN website. It this release, we have introduced some major new functionality and improvements. Web application firewall. Oracle Traffic Director supports web application firewalls. A web application firewall (WAF) is a filter or server plugin that applies a set of rules, called rule sets, to an HTTP request. Using a web application firewall, users can inspect traffic and deny requests to protect back-end applications from CSRF vulnerabilities and common attacks such as cross-site scripting. WebSocket Connections. Oracle Traffic Director handles WebSocket connections by default. WebSocket connections are long-lived and allow support for live content, games in real-time, video chatting, and so on. Support for LDAP/T3 Load Balancing. Oracle Traffic Director now supports basic LDAP/T3 load balancing at layer 7, where requests are handled as generic TCP connections for traffic tunneling. It works in full-NAT mode. Please download and try it out. For more information, check out the data sheet and the documentation. • Using position function for accessing particular node when using While Activity in SOA 11.1.1.5

    - by AJ
Hi If you are using while activity in SOA Suite 11.1.1.5 and within loop you have a requirement to access repeating node of XML. You might need to use below XPATH expression for accessing the node. Here is the XML that I am using for this example <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> David DemoJob 1 2012-04-15 40000 0 10 Steve TestJob 1 2012-04-15 40000 0 10 Here you can notice that Emp node is repeating i.e. EmpCollection node will contain multiple employees. Now in loop one of assign activity you need to access a particular node for e.g. For first time loop runs you want to access first node and second time second node and so on. You need to make use of postion() function like bpws:getVariableData('Receive1_Read_InputVariable','body','/ns4:EmpCollection/ns4:Emp[position()=$loopCounter]/ns4:job') Please Note: Here loopCounter is a variable that we have created of type xsd:int and prior to loop we have initialized a value of 1. Loop will run depending on the number of Emp nodes present at runtime. For that in while Activity you can use below XPATH expression ora:countNodes('Receive1_Read_InputVariable','body','/ns4:EmpCollection/ns4:Emp')=bpws:getVariableData('loopCounter') Do let me know in case of any issues or concern. Cheers AJ
