  I have a procedure which receive a bit variable called @FL_FINALIZADA. If it is null or false I want to restrict my select to show only the rows that contain null DT_FINALIZACAO values. Otherwise I want to show the rows containing not null DT_FINALIZACAO values. Something like this: SELECT * FROM ... WHERE ... AND (OPE.DT_FINALIZACAO = CASE WHEN (@FL_FINALIZADA <> 1) THEN NULL END OR OPE.DT_FINALIZACAO IS NOT NULL) In this case I receive the message: None of the result expressions in a CASE specification can be NULL. How can I achieve this? Thanks in advance.

  I used a dataset to store 15 tables that I need at the time of loading. When i filled all the tables using stored procedure it returns me all the table but name of the table doesn't comes as that of actual table name in a database. It takes all the table with table name as Table1, Table2, Table3... I want them to be with the name as they actually are in table.   Can A datatable somehow be passed into SQL Server 2005 or 2008 ? I know the standard way seesm to be passing XML to a SP. And a datatable can easily be converted to XML somehow to do that. What about passing a .NET object into a SP ? Is that possible ? I remember hearing about SQL and CLR working together in 2008 somehow but I never understood.. Maybe that means you can refer to .NET objects within a Stored Procedure ?

  Ok so i have a DECIMAL field called "Score". (e.g 10.00) Now, in my SP, i want to increment/decrement the value of this field in update transactions. So i might want to do this: SET @NewScore = @CurrentScore + @Points Where @Points is the value im going to increment/decrement. Now lets say @Points = 10.00. In a certain scenario, i want 10.00 to become -10.00 So the statement would be translated to: SET @NewScore = @CurrentScore + -10.00 How can i do that? I know its a strange question, but basically i want that statement to be dynamic, in that i dont want to have a different statement for incrementing/decrementing the value. I just want something like this: SET @Points = 10.00 IF @ActivityBeingPerformedIsFoo BEGIN -- SET @Points to be equivalent negative value, (e.g -10.00) END SET @NewScore = @CurrentScore + @Points

• .NET Error with Dynamic T-SQL

  I am trying to create a TableAdapter in .NET using a stored procedure, but I'm getting an error "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'WHERE'". I have narrowed down the problem in the stored procedure to the following lines: IF @NumRows > 0 SET @SQL += N' WHERE T1.RowNumber BETWEEN 1 and 10' ELSE SET @SQL += N' WHERE T1.RowNumber > 0' @NumRows is an input parameter that defaults to 0. However, if I remove either of those lines everything works fine (both WHERE clauses work fine by themselves when there is no IF/ELSE statement). It almost looks like .NET is ignoring the IF/ELSE and attempting to add the WHERE clause twice. It also works fine if I change it like so: IF @NumRows > 0 SET @SQL += N'' ELSE SET @SQL += N' WHERE T1.RowNumber > 0' One of the WHERE clauses has been removed, and there's no longer a conflict on the .NET side. So I'm pretty sure it has to do with the 2 WHERE clauses, and not with anything else. The sproc runs perfectly fine in SQL Server, and it even runs in .NET despite the error if I click "Preview Data". The only problem is that it won't auto-populate the list of fields, which I need for creating a report. Has anybody seen this before and have a suggestion?

My question is what will be the correct way to do that? Is there a way to maybe check the system time constantly on C# and not as a triggered event?

• Stored procs breaking overnight

  We are running MS SQL 2005 and we have been experiencing a very peculiar problem the past few days. I have two procs, one that creates an hourly report of data. And another that calls it, puts its results in a temp table, and does some aggregations, and returns a summary. They work fine...until the next morning. The next morning, suddenly the calling report, complains about an invalid column name. The fix, is simply a recompile of the calling proc, and all works well again. How can this happen? It's happened three nights in a row since moving these procs into production.

  When calling a stored procedure from vb.net is there a default SQL timeout time if no timeout is specified in the connection string? I am unsure if there is a CommandTimeout specified in the connection string but am going through all the possibilites. Example if no results after 30 seconds (or more) throw: `System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.` SQL Profiler says that the script runs and ends in 30 seconds when the program timesout.. Tthe script runs without error in about 1 minute 45 seconds by itself in SQL server.

I have a stored procedure on the SQL Server that I am trying to execute via ADO code. The problem I have is that Access cannot seem to find the procedure. What do I have to do within Access to be able to execute this stored procedure? Some facts ... The stored procedure in question accepts one parameter which is an integer.   Is it possible to use a stored procedure that returns multiple result sets in json format and process them as part of one request using ajax calls in jquery? In other words, I have a stored procedure that returns several result sets that are to be used with a series of select boxes that are all being filtered by the same criteria. If any of the select boxes is chosen that value is then passed to the stored procedure and all the subsequent select box updates reflect only results that match the filtered criteria. I don't want to have to call the same sp multiple times to process the results and was trying not to create multiple queries, so I'm wondering if it's possible to store more than one json result in a single request and then store and process them on the client side.

  I'm getting the error when accessing a Stored Procedure in SQL Server Server Error in '/' Application. Procedure or function 'ColumnSeek' expects parameter '@template', which was not supplied. This is happening when I call a Stored Procedure with a parameter through .net's data connection to sql (System.data.SqlClient), even though I am supplying the parameter. Here is my code.
