• Best package for basic web-based file manager

  I'm looking for a basic web-based file management application. It must have an affordable price, and fairly easy installation would be a plus. ASP.Net / IIS based would be easiest for me to work with. Basically, I'd like it to create a secure web site where myself and a few people can exchange various types of files, etc. I'm looking for a package I can install on my own server rather than a web-based service, as I think I can get more space at a good price point this way. I could go custom coding, but I figure this is such a generic need, there must be something already mature out there at a decent price. What has worked best for you?

  Today I've tried C compiler (Clang) for C code I use in my haskell library and found that I can gain speed increase in comparsing with my system compiler (GCC 4.4.3) from 426.404 Gbit/s to 0.823 Tbit/s So I decided to add some flags to control the way that C source file is compiled (i.e. something like use-clang, use-intel etc.). Snippet of cabal package description file: C-Sources: c_lib/tiger.c Include-Dirs: c_lib Install-Includes: tiger.h if flag(debug) GHC-Options: -debug -Wall -fno-warn-orphans CPP-Options: -DDEBUG CC-Options: -DDEBUG -g else GHC-Options: -Wall -fno-warn-orphans Question is: which options in descritpion file need to be modified to change C compiler used to compile "c_lib/tiger.c"?   Hi, I have inherited a web project that is perl based and I'm attempting to set up a local testing server so changes can be made internally to the project. The server architecture Ubuntu 9.10 php 5.2.10 mysql 5.1.37 perl 5.10.0-24ubuntu4 All the dependent modules and packages are installed such as DateTime.pm, TemplateToolkit.pm but running the application throws the following error message: Can't locate object method "new" via package "Template" (perhaps you forgot to load "Template"?) at ../lib//KPS/TemplateToolkit.pm line 51 The code block that this refers to is: sub new { return Template->new( INCLUDE_PATH => $KPS::Config::templatepath, ABSOLUTE => 1, DEBUG => 1, ); } If anybody is able to shed any light on this or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. • Python: Pretty printing a xml file directly from a tar.gz package

  This is the first Python script I've tried to create. I'm reading a xml file from a tar.gz package and then I want to pretty print it. However I can't seem to turn it from a file-like object to a string. I've tried to do it a few different ways including str(), tostring(), etc but nothing is working for me. • How to Package and Deploy Eclipse Java Application

  Before I begin, I'm new to eclipse, please keep that in mind when replying. :) Here is the situation, I have built an java application that has some dependencies (~10 of them). I would like to easily package this application up and deploy it as a single file to a CD or usb drive. My question is there doesn't seem to be any "nice" wizard to search the project, grab the dependencies and setup the classpath on the target computer. Seems to me I have to do this manually. Is there a better way. Something simple, easy and straight forward. A link to a tutorial on this would be great. Seems to me that this should be a built-in feature to eclipse. Deployment of a web application seems easy enough, but not a java application. Thanks!

• C# Monte Carlo Simulation Package Needed

  I'm relative new to C# and doing a project using Monte Carlo Simulation. Basically my question is the following. I have two uncertain variable inputs, A and B, and they will go through a model and give an output C. So C = f(A,B). I know A's probability distribution (Triangular) and B's probability distribution (Discrete). How can I get the probability distribution of C? What I have done now is that I can generate random numbers based on A's triangular distribution as well as B's discrete distribution. Each pair of randomly generated A and B gives a resultant C. I've run this model 1000 times thus I can get 1000 possible values of C. The difficulty is to get the corresponding probabilities of each value of C. Obviously it's not 1/1000 unless C is uniformly distributed. Is there any Monte Carlo Simulation package/library I can use?

• Memory Profiling: How to detect which application/package is consuming too much memory

  Hi, I have a situation here at work where we run a JEE server with several applications deployed on it. Lately, we've been having frequent OutOfMemoryException's. We suspect some of the apps might be behaving badly, maybe leaking, or something. The problem is, we can't really tell which one. We have run some memory profilers (like YourKit), and they're pretty good at telling what classes use the most memory. But they don't show relationships between classes, so that leaves us with a situation like this: We see that there are, say, lots of Strings and int arrays and HashMap entries, but we can't really tell which application or package they come from. Is there a way of knowing where these objects come from, so we can try to pinpoint the packages (or apps) that are allocating the most memory? Thank you in advance.

  In django I have the following tables and am trying to count the number of votes by item. class Votes(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) item = models.ForeignKey(Item) class Item(models.Model): name = models.CharField() description = models.TextField() I have the following queryset queryset = Votes.objects.values('item__name').annotate(Count('item')) that returns a list with item name and view count but not the item object. How can I set it up so that the object is returned instead of just the string value? I have been messing around with Manager and Queryset methods, that the right track? Any advice would be appreciated.

• Creating a window manager type overlay for Mac OS X

  I want to make my own window manager for OS X, or at least give it the appearance of a new one. I have many designs written down in a book, and would like to implement them. These include altering, or even completely removing, menu bars, creating entirely new guis for switching applications, etc. I know that OS X does not have a window manager, and that basically the functions that an X11 window manager would perform are done by Carbon, Cocoa, the Dock application, and the window server. I've read that it would take an incredible amount of reverse engineering to write my own api, etc. at the hardware level. I am still not that good at programming though, and don't have that kind of time. That's why I was thinking of maybe running an application on top of OS X that will function like a separate window manager - and do everything that the normal OS GUI / window manager would do. Is this possible? For example: making a custom button that would appear upon a certain key combination, that could be clicked to access a document viewer, change the time, minimize a window, etc. Is there some way to access functionality to basic tasks / actions like this without using the default OS X button controls, and implementing them with my own GUI? I am talking about more than a simple theme change, I want to completely change the user experience. This means that this application would be run in a full screen mode that blocks out default OS X menu bars. I've heard something about using graphics architectures to plug in your own window manager? Would this be an option too? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thank you,

• Running Perl Scripts on servers that don't have the modules

  I need to run a perl script to gather system information that will be deployed and executed on different unix servers. Right now I am writing it and testing it, and I'm receiving this error. Can't locate XML/DOM.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib64/perl5 /usr/local/share/perl5 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib64/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 .) at test.pl line 7. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at test.pl line 7. So I am simply using XML::DOM which should be part of Perl but it isn't for this version on this particular server which is 5.10.1. Anyways, is there a way I can create and design my script and package modules into it while keeping the .pl extension, which is the requirement for this script?

If I select make this my default and chose my activity, I am stuck In my activity as desired. The problem is, when I leave the activity, I try to remove my activity from the default launcher, but am unsuccessful. I have tried: ComponentName componentName = new ComponentName( "com.example.exampleactivity", "com.example.exampleactivity.class"); pm.setComponentEnabledSetting(componentName, PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DEFAULT, PackageManager.DONT_KILL_APP); And: PackageManager pm = getActivity().getPackageManager(); ComponentName name = new ComponentName(this, "com.example.exampleactivity.class"); pm.setComponentEnabledSetting(name, PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DISABLED, 0); But my designation for the home is never removed. Does anyone have a working way to fix the above? I only wan't the home button to be default for a specific activity, not my entire application. When I leave the activity, it should be removed and restored to default.

• Latex change color of intext citing with hyperref package and natbib

  I am using the natbib and hyperref package in conjunction with my latex document. I would like to change to the color of my hyppereferenced citations (the box around the citation) from the ugly baseline green to a more muted (violet or navy blue). However, in using the suggested code to do this, I can not get the citation link colors to change. My code is as follows \usepackage[usenames,dvipsnames]{color} \usepackage[round]{natbib} \usepackage[hyperfootnotes=false]{hyperref} \usepackage[hyperfootnotes=false]{hyperref} \hypersetup{ colorlinks=false, citecolor=Violet, linkcolor=Red, urlcolor=Blue} \begin{document} \bibliographystyle{apsr} \bibliography{exp_final} \end{document} However, when I compile (I compiled multiple times to make sure) this my pdf file looks the same as if I had excluded the formatting in the hypersetup (still the same ugly green). • Using a bookmarklet to track a package

  I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that tracks a package in the mail. First it checks to see if the tracking page is open, if not it opens it in a new tab, and then sets the value of the form to the tracking number. Finally, it submits the form. What I'm so far unable to do is set the value of the form in the case where the bookmarklet opens up a new tab.   SQL Server 2008 provides the ability to script data as Insert statements using the Generate Scripts option in Management Studio. Is it possible to access the same functionality from within a SSIS package? Here's what I'm trying to accomplish... I have a scheduled job that nightly scripts out all the schema and data for a SQL Server 2008 database and then uses the script to create a "mirror copy" SQLCE 3.5 database. I've been using Narayana Vyas Kondreddi's sp_generate_inserts stored procedure to accomplish this, but it has problems with some datatypes and greater-than-4K columns (holdovers from SQL Server 2000 days). The Script Data function looks like it could solve my problems, if only I could automate it. Any suggestions?

• Xcode5 post-archive script for Sparkle package no longer works

  Xcode 5 seems to have changed the way it stores the build application package (xxx.app) such that ditto no longer works. In the ../BuildProductsPath/Release/ directory, the app is actually a symlink to .../InstallationBuildProductsLocation/Applications/... MyApp.app - ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyApp-emwilkqhlayanxahjpexlpbbkato/Build/Intermediates/ArchiveIntermediates/MyApp/InstallationBuildProductsLocation/Applications/MyApp This breaks the ditto command I was using to create a zip file of the application to put on my Sparkle update server. Anyone have an updated script for building the Sparkle XML and ZIP files? Or know what environment variable I need to use to locate my actual binary after the Archive phase?

• Fluxbox compiling problems after making a change.

I assume that those instructions are perhaps no longer valid for the current git version. In the void FluxboxWindow::setupWindow() function I can see no references to CommandRef or frame. I would like to know if it is possible that I could work out where they should go in that function, with only having a limited knowledge? I am still trying to learn programming and don't know enough just yet to work out where they should go. I assume I can't just paste in the suggested lines anywhere in that function, but why not? I can paste the source if needed, but I am unsure where to paste to.

  Mac OS X's window manager is composed of: Applications Windows Tabs By default on OS X, you can cycle over applications with the famous ?? shortcut. In addition to this, I use a little utility called Witch which enables cycling (graphically) over windows too(I've defined it on ??). Unfortunately, it does not currently support tabs cycling... Would you have any suggestion for this? I know I already can ^? for this, but I'm looking for a graphical utility where you are not blind during cycling. Thank you.

  I noticed you can use the following stored procedures (in order) to schedule a SSIS package: msdb.dbo.sp_add_category @class=N'JOB', @type=N'LOCAL', @name=N'[Uncategorized (Local)]' msdb.dbo.sp_add_job ... msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobstep ... msdb.dbo.sp_update_job ... msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobschedule ... msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobserver ... (You can see an example by right clicking a scheduled job and selecting "Script Job as- Create To".) AND you can use sp_start_job to execute the job immediately, effectively running SSIS packages on demand. Question: does anyone know of any msdb.dbo.[...] stored procedures that simply allow you to run SSIS packages on the fly without using sp_cmdshell directly, or some easier approach?

• R: How to get a stack trace from the snow package

  How can I get a stack trace back from a snow node after an error occurs? I am using the snow package (version 0.3-3) on R 2.10.1 and I'm getting errors when I use parSapply that do not occur when I use sapply. Snow is nice enough to give me the error message but it would be much more useful for me to have the kind of stack trace you can get from traceback(). So far I have tried: options(showWarnCalls = T, showErrorCalls = T) setDefaultClusterOptions(outfile = "/dev/tty") and options(error=traceback) setDefaultClusterOptions(outfile = "/dev/tty") without luck. I'm currently just testing with a local cluster ie: makeSOCKcluster(c("localhost","localhost")) but I will eventually be using an MPI cluster. Thanks.

  I would like to deploy a Python Flask application on beanstalk. The application depends on external packages (e.g. geopy) and internal packages (e.g. adam_geography). The manual Create a requirements.txt file and place it in the top-level directory of your source bundle. This would probably fetch geopy and its dependencies, but would not fetch adam_geography which is available from a custom repo inside my VPC. How do I specify/upload private, internal Python package dependencies in a Beanstalk application?
