  • Nhibernate: Don't fetch when accessing a child objects primary key

    Hi, Is there a way in NHibernate to get the foreign key of a child object, without fetching the child object? EG. I have User and UserRole. Can I access User.UserRole.UserRoleId without causing another hit on the database to retrieve UserRole? I realize I can set fetch mode to eager and this will stop it from hitting the database again, but theoretically this shouldn't be needed, as the User table has UserRoldId in it. Thanks in advance.

    I have a existing parent-child relationship I am trying to map in Fluent Nhibernate: [RatingCollection] -- [Rating] Rating Collection has: ID (database generated ID) Code Name Rating has: ID (database generated id) Rating Collection ID Code Name I have been trying to figure out which permutation of HasMany makes sense here. What I have right now: HasMany<Rating>(x => x.Ratings) .WithTableName("Rating") .KeyColumnNames.Add("RatingCollectionId") .Component(c => { c.Map(x => x.Code); c.Map(x => x.Name); ); It works from a CRUD perspective but because it's a bag it ends up deleting the rating contents any time I try to do a simple update / insert to the Ratings property. What I want is an indexed collection but not using the database generated ID (which is in the six digit range right now). Any thoughts on how I could get a zero-based indexed collection (so I can go entity.Ratings[0].Name = "foo") which would allow me to modify the collection without deleting/reinserting it all when persisting?

    I have my asp.net web server setup to use windows authentication. It is authenticating just fine with my current logged in user. I can verify this by viewing ... HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name And I can verify that I am authenticated by viewing... HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated However, when I call the .IsInRole function I get the trust relationship error... HttpContext.Current.User.IsInRole("accounting") I have found online references to problems with supplying domain name with the role name (domain\accounting), but I still get the same error. Any suggestions on where to look or troubleshoot the problem?

    Hi Linux Community, I find my self struggling with the slowness of windows OS once again. It's Time to change with the Ubuntu 10.10 64bit for I like to use a faster Operating System. My Hard Disk laptop has a RECOVERY and HP_TOOLS partition they are both Primary. I Have the System Recovery DVD for Windows 64bit should anything bad happen. So I just made the space for my extended partition with GParted by deleting the HP_TOOLS (Fat32). By doing this I managed somehow to install Ubuntu 64 with Success. And I also made the partitions for the swap or a third Linux OS as Jordan suggested. But I couldn't actually make the partitions for the shared NTFS.(no option!)   • Should i really use integer primary IDs?

    For example, i always generate an auto-increment field for the users table, but i also specifies an UNIQUE index on their usernames. There is situations that i first need to get the userId for a given username and then execute the desired query. Or use a JOIN in the desired query. It's 2 trips to the database or a JOIN vs. a varchar index The above is just an example There is a real performance benefit on INT over small VARCHAR indexes? Thanks in advance!

I then started thinking, should I be logging more than just errors, such as when a user has logged in or out or would you go further logging even more activity?   • PostgreSQL insert on primary key failing with contention, even at serializable level

    I'm trying to insert or update data in a PostgreSQL db. The simplest case is a key-value pairing (the actual data is more complicated, but this is the smallest clear example) When you set a value, I'd like it to insert if the key is not there, otherwise update. Sadly Postgres does not have an insert or update statement, so I have to emulate it myself. I've been working with the idea of basically SELECTing whether the key exists, and then running the appropriate INSERT or UPDATE. Now clearly this needs to be be in a transaction or all manner of bad things could happen. However, this is not working exactly how I'd like it to - I understand that there are limitations to serializable transactions, but I'm not sure how to work around this one. Here's the situation - ab: => set transaction isolation level serializable; a: => select count(1) from table where id=1; --> 0 b: => select count(1) from table where id=1; --> 0 a: => insert into table values(1); --> 1 b: => insert into table values(1); --> ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "serial_test_pkey" Now I would expect it to throw the usual "couldn't commit due to concurrent update" but I'm guessing since the inserts are different "rows" this does not happen. Is there an easy way to work around this?

    The eager loading on Ruby on Rails is not working properly for the following scenario. First we had a model called marks which has the following fields id, student, subject, mark the student is a string column which has the active directory login value, later on for reporting functionality we introduce another table called user which has the following fields id, ad_name, full_name Now on the Mark model, we have added the belongs to class belongs_to :student_details, :class_name = "User", :foreign_key = "student", :primary_key = "ad_name" and when loading using the ActiveRecord's find method we are passing in the include conditon for eager loading Marks.find(:all, :include = :reserved_user) but when the find is executed, for each and every mark a student select query executed. Is this a known bug in ROR? or am i missing something?

    Hi all, I am learning the Model relationship types in cakephp. I have built twotables and in one of the Table A, I got these fields in it: Table A {postID, topic, content} Table B {replyID, content, postID} And when I ran the web page, a bunch of error related to SQL popped up saying that cakephp couldn't find post_id. It is weird that I have already declared the $primaryKey to be using postID in the tableA.php under Models folder, but cakephp seemed want me to change the ID field to post_id instead of postID, because the error disappeared after I have changed the primaryKey to post_id. ANy ideas?

ID (integer with auto-increment) Name (varchar) The text file is a large collection of names with one name per line ... (example) John Doe Alex Smith Bob Denver I know how to import a text file via phpMyAdmin however, as far as I understand, I need to import data that has the same number of fields as the target table.     This is driving me up the wall. I have checked and rechecked spelling and paths. I have tried just about every combination of paths, including relative, absolute, and full http paths. I continue to get the following error when trying to load a Java applet: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: AppletClient.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadCode(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: AppletClient.class The HTML used to load the applet: <applet width="100" height="100" archive="applet/myapplet.jar, applet/applet_dependency.jar" code="AppletClient.class"> <param value="blahblah" name="username"> <param value="false" name="codebase_lookup"> </applet> The applet is in a relative directory, "applet", from the path of the current page. I have unzipped the jar file and can see AppletClient.class. Also, in the source of the project, it is spelled that way (casing and all). I have tried with/without the parameters. I have changed the names of the archive jars in the applet include tag just to see if I get a different error for bad file names (same error). I have manually done GETs on the jars to make sure the server is responding to the requests (it is). I have tried with and without the codebase tag, with all different varieties of paths (start getting bad "magic number" errors on those). I know that this error sometimes pops up when a dependency fails to load, so it can be misleading, but all dependencies are present, accounted for, and are fetchable via manual GETs. Between each and every attempt I always clear my cache in FireFox. These problems are reproduced in IE8 and Chrome as well. Per my Java Console from the browser, I am running Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20. This is from the same machine that I develop the applet on, which runs fine via Eclipse. Finally, I kicked on Fiddler2, and I don't see a single request for the jar files anywhere The host site is running from my Visual Studio debugger, so it's running on localhost. But I see the requests for all the other resources on Fiddler. Just... no Jars. ANYWHERE. I clear the log, cleared my browser cache, and did a ctrl-R refresh. And still, not a single Jar request on the Fiddler log. I even did a delayed write (with JS) of the applet tag after the page loaded, once all the Fiddler activity slowed down. The element gets written to the document (and I can see the 100x100 Java error window), but not a single request shows up on Fiddler. Any suggestions, before I go crawl into the corner and cry myself to sleep?   • Host Primary Domain from a subfolder

    I am having a problem making a sub directory act as the public_html for my main domain, and getting a solution that works with that domains sub directories too. My hosting allows me to host multiple sites, which are all working great. I have set up a subfolder under my ~/public_html/ directory called /domains/, where I create a folder for each separate website. e.g. public_html domains websiteone websitetwo websitethree ... This keeps my sites nice and tidy. The only issue was getting my "main domain" to fit into this system. It seems my main domain, is somehow tied to my account (or to Apache, or something), so I can't change the "document root" of this domain. I can define the document roots for any other domains ("Addon Domains") that I add in cPanel no problem. But the main domain is different. I was told to edit the .htaccess file, to redirect the main domain to a subdirectory. This seemed to work great, and my site works fine on it's home/index page. The problem I'm having is that if I try to navigate my browser to say the images folder (just for example) of my main site, like this: www.yourmaindomain.com/images/ then it seems to ignore the redirect and shows the entire server directory in the url, like this: www.yourmaindomain.com/domains/yourmaindomain/images/ It still actually shows the correct "Index of /images" page, and show the list of all my images. Here is an example of my .htaccess file that I am using: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?yourmaindomain.com$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/domains/yourmaindomain/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /domains/yourmaindomain/$1 RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?yourmaindomain.com$ RewriteRule ^(/)?$ domains/yourmaindomain/index.html [L] Does this htaccess file look correct? I just need to make it so my main domain behaves like an addon domain, and it's subdirectories adhere to the redirect rules.

These models both belong to an account so they both have a field called account_id I am trying to setup a association between them like so: class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :account has_many :transactions end class Transaction < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :account belongs_to :user end I am using these associations like so: user = User.find(1) transactions = user.transactions At the moment the application is trying to find the transactions with the user_id, here is the SQL it generates: Mysql::Error: Unknown column 'transactions.user_id' in 'where clause': SELECT * FROM `transactions` WHERE (`transactions`.user_id = 1) This is incorrect as I would like the find the transactions via the account_id, I have tried setting the associations like so: class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :account has_many :transactions, :primary_key => :account_id, :class_name => "Transaction" end class Transaction < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :account belongs_to :user, :foreign_key => :account_id, :class_name => "User" end This almost achieves what I am looking to do and generates the following SQL: Mysql::Error: Unknown column 'transactions.user_id' in 'where clause': SELECT * FROM `transactions` WHERE (`transactions`.user_id = 104) The number 104 is the correct account_id but it is still trying to query the transaction table for a user_id field. Could someone give me some advice on how I setup the associations to query the transaction table for the account_id instead of the user_id resulting in a SQL query like so: SELECT * FROM `transactions` WHERE (`transactions`.account_id = 104) Cheers Eef

    I'm dynamically storing information in the database depending on the request: // table, id and column are provided by the request table_obj = getattr(models, table) record = table_obj.objects.get(pk=id) setattr(record, column, request.POST['value']) The problem is that request.POST['value'] sometimes contains a foreign record's primary key (i.e. an integer) whereas Django expects the column's value to be an object of type ForeignModel: Cannot assign "u'122'": "ModelA.b" must be a "ModelB" instance. Now, is there an elegant way to dynamically check whether b is a column containing foreign keys and what model these keys are linked to? (So that I can load the foreign record by it's primary key and assign it to ModelA?) Or doesn't Django provide information like this to the programmer so I really have to get my hands dirty and use isinstance() on the foreign-key column?
