• PHP Session Id changes between pages

  Hi All, I have a problem where i am losing the PHP session between 2 pages. The session_start() is included in a file called session-inc.php into every page requiring a session to be set. This works for all pages on the site except one particular page, member-profile.php. When this page is visited a new session with a different id (same session name) is set and used instead. A few more details: Session name is set manually All pages are on the same server under the same domain name If i put an additional session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file, the session is carried over correctly I have tried setting the session_cookie_domain and session.session_name in the .htaccess, this worked for this domain but it stopped the session being passed over to out payment domain We are running apache 2.2.6 with php 5.2.5 Putting the session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file is the quick and dirty fix for this problem, but i am wondering if anybody know why this would be happening. • From a shell script open a new tab in a specific instance of Firefox.

  Hi everyone, I have a shell script that creates Firefox profiles and then uses them to open multiple instances of Firefox simultaneously. The problem is how can I open a URL in a particular instance of Firefox? I have tried firefox -CREATEPROFILE test firefox -P 'test' -no-remote firefox -P test -url www.google.ie But the last part which is trying to open the URL using the test profile does not work, it always opens in then default profile. Is there any way to tell Firefox from the command line to open a URL using a particular profile? Thanks.

• Just an experiment changing the application data path

  When I change the Appication Data path in windows xp registry to a network folder I get this error message on the next system startup: "windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile system" The registry keys are: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]" "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]" under the names "AppData" and "Local AppData" I dont care if "Windows logins you with the default profile system" but is there a way to disable that message, or change the message timeout form 30 seconds to 0?,or maybe create an script that changes the Application Data path every system startup? P.S. The computer with the shared folder is always on.

• How to normalize a database where different user groups have different kinds of profiles?

  My application database has a Groups table that separates users into logical roles and defines access levels (admin, owner, salesperson, customer service, etc.) Groups has many Users. The Users table contains login details such as username and password. Now I wish to add user profiles to my database. The trouble I'm having (probably due to my relative unfamiliarity with proper database normalization) is that different user groups have different kinds of profiles. Ergo, a salesperson's profile will include his commission percentage, whereas an admin or customer service would not need this value. So, would the proper method be to create a unique profile table for each group? (e.g. admin_profiles, or salesperson_profiles). or is there a better way that combines certain details in a generic profile, while some users have extended info. And if so, whats a good example of how to do this with the commission example given?

An optional parameter must be a reference type, a nullable type, or be declared as an optional parameter. Parameter name: parameters This does not work. Throws the error mentioned above http://mysite/User/Profile/15 This works http://mysite/User/Profile/?UserID=15 The Controller Action public ActionResult Profile(long UserID) { } When I changed the parameter name to Id it works. I think it's because Id was specified in the route collection (Global.asax). Is it possible to tell MVC that UserId should map to Id without changing it in the Global.asax

• Rails 3 date_select for year only

  I have a form in my Rails 3 app where I want to create a select tag for just the year on a method :grad_year. I have everything working - and storing - properly using date_select and adding :discard_month and :discard_day. However when I render @profile.grad_year I get the month and day values. So I'm wondering how to store and render only the year for @profile.grad_year? Here is the form: <%= f.date_select :grad_year, {:start_year => Time.now.year, :end_year => Time.now.year - 95, :discard_day => true, :discard_month => true}, :selected => @profile.grad_year %> In my migration: t.date :grad_year

• Sometimes when visiting a php page, the browser asks me to download the .php file with nothing in it

  I've noticed an unusual problem with some of my php programs. Sometimes when visiting a page like profile.edit.php, the browser throws a dialogue box asking to download profile.edit.php page. When I download it, there's nothing in the file. profile.edit.php is supposed to be a web form that edits user information. I've noticed this on some of my other php pages as well. I look in my apache error logs, but don't see any errors. How do i figure out why this is happening?

  Hello everyone, At the moment i'm making an application where it is possible to make profiles with different settings. Which datatypes would you recommend me saving these information in? I have a table which is showing the profile name and the version number. But for each profile there need to be stored more information. Therefore the idea i'm working on have 2 arrays. 1 for all the profile information and 1 who is being made when loading the information. The second array is the one going to be showed in the table. Because the table doesnt show all the stored information. .. but this seems kinda stupid. Is there a more suitable method for saving the information in like 1 array, and just pass part of the data to the tableview?

• Problems when trying to submit iphone app

  I'm a fairly new developer. When I try to submit my iphone app with xcode, I've got error as follows; Code Sign error: The identity 'iPhone Distribution' doesn't match any valid, non-expired certificate/private key pair in the default keychain After searching, I found out that I have to create a Distribution Provisioning Profile. However, my distribution provisioning profile doesn't work, even though my Development Provisioning Profile works perfectly. Could someone please help me with this problem? I'm stuck all day... and please forgive me that my English is not great. Thank you in advance.

• .Htaccess & Wildcard Subdomains — Can't get other variables to work!

  It would be absolutely awesome if someone could help me out here. I have a domain, let's call it "example.com". I have wildcard subdomains setup and working great. The only problem is I can't get htaccess to see anything else like subdomain.example.com/profile/some_name/some_id_number/. In fact, I can type any garbage after the domain and it will still just show me the home screen. Here's what's in my htaccess file now: Options +FollowSymLinks Options +Indexes Options -Multiviews RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/app/index.php RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([^.]+)\.example\.com RewriteRule (.*) /app/index.php?user%1 [L] I can see why that wouldn't work yet, but I wanted to add something similar to the following: RewriteRule ^profile/([^/]+)/([^/]+) /app/index.php?page=profile&username=$1&user_id=$2 [nc] But it's not working at all. The server doesn't even really show signs that it's even seeing it there. Any ideas?

• Doing Time Limited Flight Recordings Using Start Up Parameters

  Just like with the old JRockit Runtime Analyzer, it is possible to start up recordings using command line parameters to JRockit. The parameter is called -XX:StartFlightRecording in R28. Below is an example that starts a flight recording half a minute after the JVM has been started. The recording will last for a minute. The name when viewing the ongoing recordings will be MyRecording, and the resulting file will be written to C:\tmp\myrecording.jfr. The recording will use the settings in jre\lib\jfr\profile.jfs. -XX:StartFlightRecording=delay=30s,duration=60s,name=MyRecording,filename=C:\tmp\myrecording.jfr,settings=profile For more information, see the JRockit R28 command line parameter documentation.

• Provisioning Videos

  There are a couple of new videos up on the Oracle Learning Youtube channel about Ops Center's provisioning capabilities. Simon Hayler does a walkthrough of a couple of different procedures. The first video shows you how to provision Oracle Solaris zones. It explains how to create an Oracle Solaris Zone profile, and then how to apply it (using a deployment plan) to a target system. The second video shows you how to provision an x86 server with Oracle Solaris. This uses a very similar process - you create a OS provisioning profile, then use a deployment plan to apply it to the target hardware. The documentation goes over OS provisioning and zone creation in the Feature Guide, if you're looking for additional information.

  I installed python3-numpy package, but trying to import it in Python3 interpreter I get this: $ python3 Python 3.2.3 (default, May 3 2012, 15:54:42) [GCC 4.6.3] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import numpy Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/home/zetah/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/numpy/__init__.py", line 128, in <module> from version import git_revision as __git_revision__ ImportError: No module named version >>> Looking in Synaptic I see python3-numpy is installed in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/numpy/ Why is it picking wrong package and what can I do to remedy this? Update: OK, in my ~/.profile I have this line: PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:$HOME/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages but if I remove this line then my Python 2.7 local packages (which I build from source) wont work Update 2: Everything seems to work perfect without $PYTHONPATH.   I'm building a website for an au pair agency business that will connect au pairs to families around Europe. I know nothing about website building, HTML etc. so I'm using a wysiwyg editer (weebly). How I would like the site to function: Families upload their information into profiles Au pairs do the same families can view a limited part of an au pairs' profile until they pay a deposit After deposit is payed, all au pairs' profile information becomes open to families Families can order au pairs and confirm their order with another payment payment must be made before 'order' is confirmed By 'order' I mean full communications become open between the family and the au pair they have 'ordered' as well as travel information being sent to another agency the site needs to be linked with a bank account (e.g paypal) and another agency, who will look after the flight bookings etc. A website already exists for this business however it just contains information on the business and application forms - if the site becomes fully automated it will relieve a lot of strain on administration in the office (dealing with applications, travel information etc.)

• Firefox 4 on 10.10

  I installed Firefox 4 from the daily builds PPA, and it doesn't seem to be the latest RC, and tells me that I'd better update to it. How come a daily build is behind snapshot releases like beta or RC? I used the profile for my Firefox 4 on Windows, and the Global Menu (or whatever it's called) has gone to the right side. I had a few app tabs saved in the profile. What gives? How do I get the Global Menu to be orange or whatever color it's supposed to be? How do I pin it to Unity? Update Global Menu back on left side after restoring toolbar to defaults. However it's noteworthy that I could not drag it to the other side while the customization window was open unlike the other elements.

• Does TOR protect privacy of bittorrent clients like Transmission?

  I am using the Tor bundle and its included browser to initiate torrent downloads with the Transmission client included with Lubuntu. Clicking on a torrent link provides a warning message that external apps are NOT protected by Tor and clicking ok results in normal Transmission start and it begins the download. I have seen assertions in another post answer that Tor starts Transmission using a different profile than the normal $HOME/.config/transmission. However, I see no evidence of the referenced different profile on my system ( $HOME/tor-browser_en-US/.config/transmission). The normal privacy settings provided within Transmission seem inadequate for privacy according to what I have read. Has something changed in how Tor bundle browser (firefox) interacts with supporting apps like Transmission. Tor bundle otherwise seems to be operating correctly. I asked the question in the post but it was deleted by moderator for some reason not given

• 3rd Party Tools: dbForge Studio for SQL Server

  I've been taking a look at some of the 3rd party tools for SQL Server. Today, I looked at DBForge Studio for SQL Server from the team at DevArt. Installation was smooth. I did find it odd that it defaults to SQL authentication, not to Windows but either works fine. I like the way they have followed the SQL Server Management Studio visual layout. That will make the product familiar to existing SQL Server Management Studio users. I was keen to see what the database diagram tools are like. I found that the layouts generated where quite good, and certainly superior to the built-in SQL Server ones in SSMS. I didn't find any easy way to just add all tables to the diagram though. (That might just be me). One thing I did like was that it doesn't get confused when you have role playing dimensions. Multiple foreign key relationships between two tables display sensibly, unlike with the standard SQL Server version. It was pleasing to see a printing option in the diagramming tool. I found the database comparison tool worked quite well. There are a few UI things that surprised me (like when you add a new connection to a database, it doesn't select the one you just added by default) but generally it just worked as advertised, and the code that was generated looked ok. I used the SQL query editor and found the code formatting to be quite fast and while I didn't mind the style that it used by default, it wasn't obvious to me how to change the format. In Tools/Options I found things that talked about Profiles but I wasn't sure if that's what I needed. The help file pointed me in the right direction and I created a new profile. It's a bit odd that when you create a new profile, that it doesn't put you straight into editing the profile. At first I didn't know what I'd done. But as soon as I chose to edit it, I found that a very good range of options were available. When entering SQL code, the code completion options are quick but even though they are quite complete, one of the real challenges is in making them useful. Note in the following that while the options shown are correct, none are actually helpful: The Query Profiler seemed to work quite well. I keep wondering when the version supplied with SQL Server will ever have options like finding the most expensive operators, etc. Now that it's deprecated, perhaps never but it's great to see the third party options like this one and like SQL Sentry's Plan Explorer having this functionality. I didn't do much with the reporting options as I use SQL Server Reporting Services. Overall, I was quite impressed with this product and given they have a free trial available, I think it's worth your time taking a look at it.
