• Unable to Push source code to Bzr/Bazaar

  I am having issues pushing my codes into my Bazaar repository. It worked earlier for my first commit but not it does not work at all. Everytime I try to push my codes, I get this exception Error while executing push [Error 5] Access is denied: 'c:\\users\\benjam~1.won\\appdata\\local\\temp\\tmpj2hcal.pag' Any idea how I resolve this? I have even deleted the repo and .git folder and tried again but I keep getting this error regardless of the branch I guess. I am using this as my machine : Windows Vista Business 32 bit 4GB RAM Eclipse + Aptana

• Ubuntu Github ssh keys issue

  I followed every step given in this guide: http://help.github.com/linux-key-setup/ When I get to the end I am able to ssh to [email protected], getting the response: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 Hi AlexBaranosky! You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access. Connection to github.com closed But when I go to clone my repo it fails saying: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I've used Github a lot, but this is my first use of it from an Ubuntu computer, is there something I am missing here? • How do I detach a local SVN working copy?

  I cannot just rm -rf $(find . -name '.svn'), because I've got some directories in my working copy which are unversioned (on svn:ignore) and at the same time working copies of other svn repositories. my-repo |+ directory ||- .svn (to delete) ||- files... |+ another_directory ||- .svn (to delete) ||- files... |+ directory_ignored (svn:ignore) ||- .svn (different working copy) ||- more files ... So I'd like to just tell subversion to remove all .svn directories belonging to this working copy only. Is this possible? The directory structure is quite complex, so doing it manually would really suck.

In CSV or Excel format--i.e. I don't want to access it via API. Something like books or movies with title and description fields would be perfect. • Git checkout <SHA> and Heroku

  I created a local Git repo on my laptop and then pushed the source to Heroku creating a remote branch. After a few days of commits and pushes, I need to rollback to an earlier commit. Here's what I did. cd <app root> git checkout 35fbd894eef3e114c814cc3c7ac7bb50b28f6b73 Someone told me that doing the checkout created a new working tree(?) and not the branch itself, so when I pushed the rollback changes to Heroku, it said everything is up to date and nothing was pushed. How do I fix this situation? Thanks for your help in advance.

From my perspective, it should just try to pull down hibernate w/o inserting the groupId, but maybe i'm not understanding how i'm supposed to run this command?

• XCode and SVN Error: 200019

  So, I haven't been in an XCode project on this machine since last summer, and now when I try to access the repo through SCM Configuration in preferences I get the following error: Error: 200019 (Incompatible library version) Description: Mismatched RA version for 'http': found 1.6.2, expected 1.6.5 I know at some point I updated my subversion client through MacPorts and is probably the cause of the problem. So I located all the svn programs on my path and replaced them with symlinks to the /opt/local/bin/svn client thinking that would do it (note that /usr/bin/svn --version yielded the same error message as XCode. Somehow XCode (3.2.1) is still pointing to some older 1.6.2 files. Can someone point me in the right direction on getting XCode svn integration cleaned up?

  Hi, I have installed gitosis, but i have strange thing when i'm working with repos. In config i have [gitosis] [group gitosis-admin] writable = gitosis-admin members = me@server me@laptop [group prj1] writable = prj1 members = me@laptop and in /home/git/repositories i have created directory prj1.git with empty git repo. i can work with gitosis-admin from server and laptop without problems, but when i'm trying to git clone prj1 on my laptop i see $ git clone git@server:prj1.git Initialized empty Git repository in /Users/alec/temp/prj1/.git/ fatal: no matching remote head ok, lets push prj1 from laptop to server: $ git push origin master:refs/heads/master ERROR:gitosis.serve.main:Repository read access denied fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Whats wrong?

  When I first found out that Mercurial tracked files and not directories, I was a bit disappointed. (This means you can't represent an empty directory in the repo.) However, it doesn't seem to be an issue in practice, and makes some things a tad easier for me. How about other SCM systems? (Edit this post to add them.) What advantages or disadvantages have you found by not tracking directories? (Each one separately in an answer, please.) Do track directories: Subversion Bazaar/bzr (add one!) • Git diff gone mad?

  I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my local Git repo. I edit a file. Git reports everything has changed in the file (I only changed one line) At first I think "must be a newline problem", but it's not. I do a diff in TortoiseGit, everything looks fine. I do a diff with Netbeans (git plugin), everything seems fine. I do a reset, backup the file, modify it, git again reports everything has changed. I do a binary compare in Total Commander, the files have no differences except for the single line I changed. I do a hard reset again. Git tells me it was done successfully. Git status still says my file has changed. I diff the thing and there are no differences - bug git says there are. I've tried using both git bash and gui, with same results (I'm on Windows). Any clues, what's going on here?

• Git repository is out of sync after rebase

  I have squashed 2 commits (A and B) into one new commit (C). The previous two commits (A and B) where removed. I pushed these commits from my development repo to a central(bare) repository. The git-log on both repos confirms that commits A and B have been removed. The problem is when I do a pull on a third repository which already had (A and B) it now has all three commits (A, B and C). I would have thought the pull would synchronise these changes. Do I need to checkout A~1 and then merge in the new changes? This seems like a hassle, especially in a production environment.

• MSBuild Override Project Reference to resolve to Precompiled Assembly

  Situation I have about 400 csproj files using project references. About 3 of those a separate team wants to fork and incorporate into a standalone app. I branched the 3 projects of interest, and because the separate team uses a diff SVN repo I used svn externals to pull in these projects into the folder of the standalone app. Obviously since this team uses a different folder structure the project references no longer resolve. Attempted Solution I figured setting the msbuild properties ReferencePath and AdditionalLibPaths to point to a directory with all the precompiled dependencies would allow the project references a fallback point and resolve correctly. However that doesn't appear to be the case. Question Does anybody know a way to have a failed projectreference look up resolve to the precompiled dll? Perhaps point me to an automated tool to convert projectreferences to dll references? Or is there a better way to solve this problem? Thanks

• Monodevelop SVN 1.7 support

  I'm trying to checkout an SVN repo and it does get checked out, however the solution is not opened by default. I then tried to simply open an already checked out folder and I do not get versioning support. I tried this in both Windows and Linux with no success with MonoDevelop 3.0.4 and 3.0.5 My guess is that since the .sln file is in the path /trunk/code/project/project.sln and the new 1.7 format keeps only one ".svn" folder at the top of the checked out folder (e.g. /home/gustavo/ProjectSrc/ ) hence MD not "finding" the versioned code. Anybody has had success using SVN 1.7 and MonoDevelop?

• Git Subtree. Why can't I branch from a subtree rather than the root?

  I am struggling trying to make sense of using the Git subtree strategy. My intent was to pull some disparate repos together into a little family of toy repos under an umbrella repo. I'm using the subtree strategy detailed here: http://help.github.com/subtree-merge I am pulling my hair out trying to convince Git that I want to create a branch from one of these subtrees NOT from the root. When I cd into a subtree, create the branch, and then cd back to the root, running git branch from the root clearly indicates the branch was created at the root. Sigh. I love git/github but it is maddening getting this seemingly routine task to work properly. Could someone please enlighten me?

• Mercurial Pull Error

  I am new to the dvcs world. My company uses perforce and I'm not a fan so I thought I'd try to use mercurial as a front end. I set it up on a windows machine with TortiseHG, enabled the Perfarce extension, did a small checkout (limiting the target revision) and pulled for the rest. This seemed to be more robust than clone alone. This seems to be working fairly well as I've been able to get up to change 8700 or so. My problem is with an error in the perforce repo. During the hg pull command it hits an error abort: file path/to/file.pl missing in p4 workspace and rolls back the transaction. Is there anyway to bypass or skip that file and force it to continue since this is not a file I care about.

  I need to work with an old repository, whose db/format contains 2 From this question, I understand that this means it's version 1.4. I have only 1.5 executables, which produce a db/format containing 3 layout sharded 1000 I've tried to use the 1.5 svnadmin to verify the 1.4 repo, but it fails with 'vnadmin: Unknown FS type 'fsfs If anyone's got any ideas on how to fix this, that'd be great. My current working plan is to obtain 1.4 executables. The problem I have is that I've done a fair amount of searching, and I can't find any SubVersion 1.4 executable downloads. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

• How can I undo my last git add/commit ?

  I edited a file and did: git add file.py git commit -m 'fixed bug' I then edited another file and performed a minor bug fix. I don't want two commits, one after the other, showing 'bug fix'. I want one commit with 'bug fixes'. How can I undo the last add/commit and change the first commit message? • Execution of "mvn sonar:sonar" with no external access

  Hello, I try to execute the mvn sonar:sonar command on a machine where Maven is configured to have no access to external repositories (in reality, this is not exactly the case, but it helps me to explain my problem).   Background: running ubuntu So I downloaded the python "install from source" tarball. I ran make and got this error message: Python build finished, but the necessary bits to build these modules were not found: _aaa _bbb _ccc ... _jjj _kkk I google'd and found one solution is to: MANUALLY map all the string names from the error message to something in the apt-get repo MANUALLY call "sudo apt-get AAA BBB ... JJJ KKK" to get all the libraries I can easily do all of that. But I have no way of knowing what is the right version libraries I need to get! How in the world am I supposed to fix the missing dependencies if I don't know what the exact missing dependency is?

• Access Git Repository using Eclipse and Netbeans Plugins with LDAP Users

  Hello everyone! I've configure a git server. I need to use ssh because I've defined permissions using users of my domain, using LDAP. Only users with permissions could read a project. So, the links to access my repositories are like that: ssh://[email protected]@hostname/var/git/repo.git When I clone, commit or push a project using linux git commands or using tortoisegit on windows, there is no problem, everything works as expected. However, I've tried to clone a project using plugins from Eclipse (EGit) and Netbeans (NBGit), with no success. Seems that they can't recognize the host. I've accessed using a user from the server (not from the domain) and it cloned the project perfectly. Seems that the plugins assume that the host is everything after the first @. • Svn - get the list of all repos on a server so I can svnsync

  I'm attempting to create a backup of my client's existing svn repositories, which is publicly available over http. If possible, I'd like to be able to make new repositories automatically, from any computer, without having to give console access to the server to external parties (i.e. the users could do a ls on my svn repo dir) My problem is that I need to know the list of svn repositories on the server - it isn't a fixed list, since the user will add new repositories over time. I'm able to list the repositories on an html page via Apache's mod_dav_svn module, using the SVNListParentPath On directive. I got this page: http://svn.ohwr.org/ My question is: what is the easiest way to obtain a usable list of such repositories? I'll need to parse that list in order to make syncs, probably using shell commands. Must I parse the HTML with shell commands, or is there a better way to get that list?

• SVN: is it possible to delete a branch that was copied removed etc for good?

  I have to remove a branch from svn history for good. Normally I would use svnadmin dump /path/to/repo |svndumpfilter --drop-empty-revs --renumber-revs exclude /branches/bad_branch However this branch was not just created, but also moved and then removed and dump script fails to process downstream information with messages like: Invalid copy source path '/branches/bad_branch' So I imagine 2 ways to cope with the problem keep only last few revisions of the history and put current repository as an archive on the web make a dump up to the revision where the 'bad_branch' was created and apply the rest of the changes as a patch, therefore losing history of a few recent commits. Is there a better, cleaner way to deal with this?

• cvs to mercurial conversion gets tags wrong

  I've tried all the recommended conversion techniques Mostly they manage to get the latest version of the files right, but every one of them trashes my history. Many (most?) of the tags from my cvs project have at least one file in error when I run "hg up $tag" My cvs repo is not all that complicated. Why can't anything convert it? I'd like to dump cvs and convert to mercurial, but not without history. To recap my frustration: I tried hg convert (tried --branchsort,--timesort, fuzz=0) I tried cvs2svn and then hg convert. tailor does not work with recent versions of mercurial fromcvs disappeared from the face of the earth hg-cvs-import has been abandoned for 4 years and doesn't work with recent versions of hg I have tried using the two most recent versions of mercurial ( 1.5 and 1.5.1 ).

• Git merge of same and externally modified file

  I have inherited some code (from zip file) from a developer and git initialzed, made changes and set of check-ins progressively. Now, the same developer released the same code with his changes and gave me the another zip file. How do i merge my changes which i have it my git repo and his recent changes from the second zip file contents? Ideally, i would like to have the code which should be accumalation of both my changes and the developer recent changes. I tried to create branch b1 from my master branch and applied second zip file contents on top of that. committed those files in the branch and did 'git checkout master; git merge b1' - but, i do not get my changes, only his changes in my master branch.
