• How to change mouse pointer icon in Xfce Debian 7 Wheezy?

  I copied the cursor theme (oxy-neon or Oxygen Neon) to /usr/share/icons and from Applications Menu - Settings - Mouse, I am able to see the new theme. I clicked on it and the pointer doesn't change. However the text typing icon ('I'), busy icon, hand icon, and resize window icons got changed. The pointer icon remains the same, the black Adwaita. I removed the Adwaita folder from the icons folder, and still the mouse pointer doesn't change. Is the pointer theme specified elsewhere? I have no setting under home directory. I tried logging out, restart, restarting xfwm4, but nothing works. I just found that the icon pointer changes when the pointer is inside Firefox, but it's not consistent. It keeps changing when I click menu items. Very weird. Any idea how to fix this? • ShareWebDb_log.ldf is 97GB - How to reduce?

  We run an SBS 2008 server with WSS. On the drive I have set aside for WSS, I'm fast running out of space due to the ShareWebDb_log.ldf file: I've tried doing to do what I've read online - change the recovery mode, backup and truncate - but I can't actually see how I do this via the SQL Server Management Studio tool. Can anyone shed any light? The database for this file does not show in the list, and I cannot expand Management SQL Server Logs (because it's too large?).

• IIS 6 404 error calling on localhost

  I'm kinda desperate here I have a Windows 2003 Server and when I try to call http://localhost I get a 404 error I have localhost configured to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ and whatever file I create there it always shows a 404 This is what I see on the log file 2010-07-22 14:54:06 W3SVC1 127.0.0.1 GET / - 80 - 127.0.0.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.2;+SV1;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.0.4506.2152;+.NET+CLR+3.5.30729) 404 0 3 I tried restarting IIS with no luck, the eventvwr shows no error whatsoever. • Macbook Pro with Windows 7 - GPU always on

  Übergizmo is reporting an issue with the new Macbook Pros' GeForce 330M GPU being always "on" under Windows 7, and thus almost halving the battery life compared to that with OS X (which is able to somehow suspend that GPU and use the the low-end integrated GPU to do the light work). • Dealing with Word spell check in technical documents?

  I have waste millions of hours clicking the Ignore Once button in Word, while trying to spell check a document related to development. Be that something light on terms like a proposal or something worse like technical specs. I'm beginning to think that this is a huge waste and someone may have developed a dictionary for Word with common development terms that I could add and no longer have this problem. Does such a dictionary exist or is there some other tricks to use to improve this process?

• Windows 7 NNTP Server

  I am doing some development that requires some interaction with an NNTP server, however I don't want to develop against a live server for obvious reasons and am trying to get a local NNTP server setup for testing, but for the life of me I can't find any guides on setting one up in (preferably) Windows 7. Can anyone shed some light? I've found that in IIS 6 you were able to setup an NNTP server, but I unfortunately do not have a 2003 VM at my disposal, I'm stuck with either XP or Windows 7. Thanks

• When did my Mac's HD last sleep?

  Is there any app or log that says when my MacBook Pro's hard drive last went into sleep mode? I ask because each night when I close the MBP's lid without being plugged into a power source, the power light goes into its snooze rhythm but the battery is half-drained by the next morning. It certainly looks like it is asleep, but the power drain seems to indicate otherwise.

  In /var/log/messages, this error occurred: Sep 19 13:18:15 wdc kernel: [2772302.630416] Machine check events logged Shortly there after, the entire server became unresponsive. This is in the log of the Dom0 for a Xen Server (running the latest version on Debian Squeeze). Can anyone shed some light on what this error means? Should I be ordering new hardware? Edit: Also, it seems to imply it logged something, where can I find that?

• Adjust Mac OS X's colors

  I downloaded an app several months ago for the Mac that enabled me to adjust the colors of the monitor to work with different light sources. There was a filter for daylight, incandescent, fluorescent, etc. After re-installing I can't seem to locate it again. Does anyone know this application?   I have a macbook pro but my Built-in stereo speakers don't work and it comes a red light from Headphone out/optical digital audio out port. my Built-in stereo speakers aren't dead because at first that OS runs it comes a sound from them but as soon as the macbook pro is ready when i play music they don't work and In the SOUND in system preferences the name of device for sound output is Digital Out. I can see my screen at night if I hold a source of light next to the screen. So I can still do some trivial things with my laptop. • Client has been through 3 PSUs, now what?

  A client of mine has an XP era eMachines. The power supply has died and been replaced 3 times. I've discharged the motherboard and checked the surge protector. In the middle of a scan with ComboFix, the machine died. It powers on and hangs before the BIOS and shows a solid yellow light. I believe the model # is T5062 or something like that.

  I am using word 2007 and am inserting code into the document. I have a style with a fixed-width font and light grey background and all, and I use Notepad++ for syntax highlighting. My problem is with a "line" of code that is too long to display, so is there a way to auto-insert an arrow symbol at the beginning of a such lines to indicate that it is the same line (kind of like hyphenating, except on long lines instead of long words) So for e.g. something like this: public static void foo(String abcdefg, Boolean 123, ?String xyz)
