Does anyone know of a tool that I can use to find C-Style casts in code? I am refactoring some C++ code and want to replace C-Style casts where ever possible.
This tool is supposed to configure users and roles etc., but when I use it on a new web site, with a new aspnetdb database, it adds a record to the aspnet_Applications table with the ApplicationName and the LoweredApplicationName fields set to /. I think it would make more sense if it actually used the application name, i.e. the web site name. Can I safely just change the application name? Is there a better way of configuring these things?
If i make java core dump with gcore then what is the best tool to analyze it? I need to be able make jmap, jstack, jstat etc and also i need to see values of all variables.
Something that can take core dump as frozen JVM.
I'm currently writing some Java to wrap around an extensive command line tool. It feels like I'm writing a lot of similar code.
I'm wondering if there are any established patterns for wrapping command line tools - passing arguments and handling output and so on.
Specific examples in Java would obviously be great, but any general suggestions or pointers are welcome too.
I'm trying to grab some information from a private XML file used as DB schema, I'm thinking an XQuery command line tool could help. Would you please recommend one? Thanks. BTW, the implementations list is too long for me to pick...

I need to check that my design fits, pixel by pixel, to the wishes of the designer.
Is there any tool (editor, script, whatever...) available that can automatically reformat R code? It does not need to be customizable but it must be able to recognize statements separated by either semicolons or newlines since this code has both. If it can put all statements on a separate line, consistently indent code blocks and consistently place braces I will be very happy.
I experimented with DocBook XML a while back, and also used it professionally for documenting a few software projects, but since the tool support at the time was not very good, I soon abandoned it in favor of hand-written LaTeX, and later LyX.
Now I'm considering taking another look at DocBook, and I was wondering, what are the best tools for working with DocBook XML documents today?
I see that there is the SVN_EDITOR environment variable to define what editor to use with subversion, and there's also SVN_MERGE environment variable for merging files.
Is there an environment variable for defining the differencing tool?
Is there any client tool available which allow me to browse through files which are on http folder (I know there is a filezila but that only shows FTP files)?
I would use hg4idea to do this but it seems to leak memory badly. Is there a way to use Intellij 9 as the default merge tool for TortoiseHG/Mercurial? KDiff3 makes very little sense to me.

Looking for some [freeware/opensource] tool in order to make it easy to profile a big php project on win32 platform. Need to find out which part of code is most time consuming.
It's hard to manually put timing function for each function, loop...
Most of "multi-platform" CI tools I've seen are in the Java/.NET world, like TeamCity or Hudson. Is there a continuous integration tool that can handle both PHP and Rails projects?
Is there going to be a way with the 4.0 SDK to create a tool similar to Pandora(which was demoed today), so when the phone is locked, I can manipulate my app? So basically if my app was running, and my phone locks I don't have to unlock the phone to toggle something for the app?
Hi,
does anyone know of a good profiling tool or library for Clojure?
I would prefer something that could be used from the REPL, along the lines of (with-profiling ...) in Allegro Common Lisp back in the day.
Is there anything along those lines?
Or do you have any experience with (non-commercial) Java profilers that work well with Clojure?
I am currently working on a site that includes javascript code that we get from several different sources and need to run on the site I maintain. Every once and a while some of this code breaks without our knowing until its too late. Is there a monitoring tool that will crawl our site and look for javascript errors and report them or could this be incorporated into a selenium test somehow?
I frequently come across this problem. I have a file:
something
something2
something3
which I want output as:
"something","something2","something3"
any quick tool for this, preferably online?
I've a daunting task of getting familiair and possibly re-architecting large pieces of old source code.
I was hoping there would be a nice tool to convert php (in my case), but let's make it more general: any language to PDF, for offline browsing on a Kindle or Ipad
Would be ideal if it would create indexes / hyperlinks automatically. So function calls can be easily browsed into
I'm working in VS2008 and C#, and I'm looking for a (free) code generator tool to generate a property with getter and setter, as well as the backing private field to go with. The template thingy in VS does not make the field to go with it. Just looking for something a little bit better.
I once saw a web site where you could build this code, then cust-and-paste it from the web page to your code.
