• Determining whether geographic point is within X meters of a state border (using shapefile for borde

  So I'm writing a Java app, and I've got an ESRI Shapefile which contains the borders of all the U.S. states. What I need is to be able to determine whether any given lat/lon point is within a specified distance from ANY state border line - i.e., I will not be specifying a particular border line, just need to see whether the point is close to any of them. The solution does NOT have to be very precise at all; e.g. I don't need to be dealing with measuring perpendicular to the border, or whatever. Just checking to see if going X meters north, south, east or west would result in crossing a border would be more than sufficient. The solution DOES have to be computationally efficient, as I'll be performing a huge number of these calculations. I'm planning to use the GeoTools library (though if there's a simpler option, I'm all for it) with the Shapefile plugin. What I don't really understand is: Once I've got the shapefile loaded into memory, how do I check to see whether I'm near a border? Thanks! -Dan

• Random point on VideoDisplay isn't accurate enough

  For a schoolassigment me and some buddies of mine are creating an application that is showing many similarities with the C-Mon & Kypski musicvideo on www.oneframeoffame.com. The application is being developed in Flex. We want to get a random point of a clip, let it pause so a user can mimic the pose and make a snapshot out of it. What i managed to do is get a random point of the movie. I did this by getting a random value between 0 and de total duration of the movie. But what i didn't managed to do is let the screen pause on every 24st of a frame. As the movie concist out of 24FPS. It looks like the the random value of the movie that is being requested is being rounded by the movie itself. As example: There appears to be no difference between the frames requested at 2.40 or 2.41. It appears it got something to do with keyframing i've read on the Adobe® Flex™ 3.5 Language Reference. The movie is a FLV file and i use the VideoDisplay object to display the movie. Does someone is familiar with this or knows a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance

• Avoiding null point exception in el in JSF

  I am developing a JSF application with JPA(EclipseLink 2.0) and Primefaces. I want to know is there any way to avoid null point exception when el calls a property of a null object. I have described the situation. I have Bill class. There may be no or more BillItem objects with a Bill objects. Each BillItem object have Objects like Make, Country, Manufacturer, etc objects. I am displaying several properties of a bill within a single JSF file like this. "#{billControlled.bill.billItem.modal.name}" But if a bill is not selected, or when there are no bill items for a selected bill, the properties accessing in the el are null. I can avoid this by creating new objects for every bill, for example, new make for a new bill item, etc or by creating new properties in the controller itself for all the properties. But that is a very long way and feel like rudimentory. Is there any good practice to avoid this null point exception in el in JSF?

• How to prevent external translation of a movieclip object on stage in AS3?

  I have a MovieClip object, which is exported for actionscript (AS3) in an .swc file. When I place an instance of the clip on the stage without any modifications, it appears in the upper left corner, about half off stage (i.e. only the lower right quadrant of the object is visible). I understand that this is because the clip has a registration point which is not the upper left corner. If you call getBounds() on the movieclip you can get the bounds of the clip (presumably from the "point" that it's aligned on) which looks something like (left: -303, top: -100, right: 303, bottom: 100), you can subtract the left and top values from the clip x and y: clip.x -= bounds.left; clip.y -= bounds.top; This seems to properly align the clip fully on stage with the top left of the clip squarely in the corner of the stage. But! Following that logic doesn't seem to work when aligning it on the center of the stage! clip.x = (stage.stageWidth / 2); etc... This creates the crazy parallel universe where the clip is now down in the lower right corner of the stage. The only clue I have is that looking at: clip.transform.matrix and clip.transform.concatenatedMatrix matrix has a tx value of 748 (half of stage height) ty value of 426 (Half of stage height) concatenatedMatrix has a tx value of 1699.5 and ty value of 967.75 That's also obviously where the movieclip is getting positioned, but why? Where is this additional translation coming from?

• Android, phone call audio stream via wlan

  I am planning on developing my specific voip app for android. Here's the scenario: when a phone call occurs I want to hear the person who's calling on my local pc speakers and I want to speak to him via my own pc microphone / headset. So I need to send the audio stream of both me and the person I am talking to via the wlan network. Something like this: ... onCallStateChanged(int state, String phoneNumber){ while(state == PhoneListener.CALL_STATE_OFFHOOK){ //while phone call is happaning //send incoming speech via wlan to pc //receive audiostream from pc microphone and direct it to the phone call } } ... Is this possible with the current Android API? (Actually it should be since voip apps are available in the market) I did some research in the Android API and all I found was the AudioManager which has constant named public static final int STREAM_VOICE_CALL; //The audio stream for phone calls But I don't know how to use it our how it should give me access to the actual audiostreams which I can send via network. How do I manage to do this? The connection would be realised by TCP sockets.

  Two scenarios, one work one doesn't when they both should: Scenario #1: (DOES NOT work via apache) 2 repos on Server SERVER: Repo "A", Repo "B" cloned from repo A via http://SERVER/HG/A On client: Repo A cloned from http://SERVER/HG/A Repo B cloned from http://SERVER/HG/B Added a file to repo A from client and commited & pushed it up to http://SERVER/HG/A ...WORKS Added a file to repo B from client and commited & pushed it up to http://SERVER/HG/B ...ERROR with abort: repository is unrelated, it only works if I -f (force) the push Scenario #2: (works via file system) On Server SERVER: Repo "A", Repo "B" cloned from E:/HG/A On client: Repo A cloned from E:/HG/A Repo B cloned from E:/HG/B Added a file to repo A from client and commited & pushed it up to E:/HG/A ...WORKS Added a file to repo B from client and commited & pushed it up to E:/HG/B ...WORKS Conclusion:...Something in the apache configuration or in the integration between apache & mercurial is making the repo "unrelated".... Any ideas??? Why do I need to force in the first scenario but do not have to in the second?? ...and i tried both scenarios via tortoisehg as well as command line.

• Parse files in directory/insert in database

  Hey there, Here is my dillema... I have a directory full of .txt comma delimited files arranged as shown below. What I want to do is to import each of these into a SQL or SQLite database, appending each one below the last. (1 table)... I am open to C# or VB scripting and just not sure how to accomplish this. I want to only extract and import the data starting BELOW the 'Feat. Type,Feat. Name, etc' line. These are stored in a \mynetwork\directory\stats folder on my network drive. Ideally I will be able to add functionality that will make the software/script know not to re-add the file to the database once it has already done so as well.   There was a debate today among some of my colleagues and I wanted to clarify it. It is about the evaluation order and the sequence point in an expression. It is clearly stated in the standard that C/C++ does not have a left-to-right evaluation in an expression unlike languages like Java which is guaranteed to have a sequencial left-to-right order. So, in the below expression, the evaluation of the leftmost operand(B) in the binary operation is sequenced before the evaluation of the rightmost operand(C): A = B B_OP C The following expression according, to CPPReference under the subsection Sequenced-before rules(Undefined Behaviour) and Bjarne's TCPPL 3rd ed, is an UB x = x++ + 1; It could be interpreted as the compilers like BUT the expression below is said to be clearly a well defined behaviour in C++11 x = ++x + 1; So, if the above expression is well defined, what is the "fate" of this? array[x] = ++x; It seems the evaluation of a post-increment and post-decrement is not defined but the pre-increment and the pre-decrement is defined. NOTE: This is not used in a real-life code. Clang 3.4 and GCC 4.8 clearly warns about both the pre- and post-increment sequence point.

  I wish to generate rays from the camera through the viewing plane. In order to do this, I need my camera position ("eye"), the up, right, and towards vectors (where towards is the vector from the camera in the direction of the object that the camera is looking at) and P, the point on the viewing plane. Once I have these, the ray that's generated is: ray = camera_eye + t*(P-camera_eye); where t is the distance along the ray (assume t = 1 for now). My question is, how do I obtain the 3D coordinates of point P given that it is located at position (i,j) on the viewing plane? Assume that the upper left and lower right corners of the viewing plane are given. NOTE: The viewing plane is not actually a plane in the sense that it doesn't extend infinitely in all directions. Rather, one may think of this plane as a widthxheight image. In the x direction, the range is 0--width and in the y direction the range is 0--height. • Connecting debian and windows via IPsec VPN with Racoon and ipsec-tools

  I've some trouble with the IPsec configuration on my debian server (6 squeeze). This server should connect via IPsec VPN to an windows server, which is protected by an firewall. I've used racoon and ipsec-tools and this tutorial http://wiki.debian.org/IPsec. However, I am not quite sure, if this tutorial fits to my purpose, because of some differences: my Host and my gateway are the same server. So I don't have two different ip addresses. I guess, that's not a problem the other server is an windows system behind a firewall. Hopefully, not a problem the subnet of the windows system is /32 not /24. So I change it to /32. I worked through the tutorial step by step, but I wasn't able to route the ip. The following command didn't work for me: ip route add to 172.16.128.100/32 via XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX src XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX So I tried the following instead: ip route add to 172.16.128.100 .., which obviously not solved the problem. The next problem is the compression. The windows doesn't use a compression, but 'compression_algorithm none;' doesn't work with my racoon. So the current value is 'compression_algorithm deflate;' So my current result looks like this: When I am trying to ping the windows host (ping 172.16.128.100), I receive the following error message from ping: ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted And racoon logs: racoon: ERROR: failed to get sainfo. After googling for a while I came to no conclusion, what's the solution. Does this error message mean that the first phase of IPsec works? I am thankful for any advice. I guess my configs might be helpful.   The good news is that I got sudoers via ldap working on Red Hat Directory Server. The package is sudo-1.7.2p1. I have some LDAP/Kerberos users in an LDAP group called wheel, and I have this entry in LDAP: # %wheel, SUDOers, example.com dn: cn=%wheel,ou=SUDOers,dc=example,dc=com cn: %wheel description: Members of group wheel have access to all privileges. objectClass: sudoRole objectClass: top sudoCommand: ALL sudoHost: ALL sudoUser: %wheel So, members of group wheel have administrative privileges via sudo. This has been tested and works fine. Right now, I can't fix a problem I can't identify. Is this an LDAP search failure? Is this a group member matching failure? Identifying why the command fails will help me identify the fix... Next step: Recreate the privilege in /etc/sudoers, and see if it works locally... Cheers!

• Tomcat cookies not working via my ProxyPass VirtualHost

  Hi there. I'm having some issues with getting cookies to work when using a ProxyPass to redirect traffic on port 80 to a web-application hosted via Tomcat. My motivation for enabling cookies is to get rid of the "jsessionid=" parameter that is appended to the URLs. I've enabled cookies in my context.xml in META-INF/ for my web application. When I access the webapplication via http://url:8080/webapp it works as expected, the jsessionid parameter is not visible in the URL, instead it's stored in a cookie. When accessing my website via an apache2 virtualhost the cookies doesn't seem to work because now "jsessionid" is being appended to the URLs. How can I solve this issue?   I have the following problem with an EJB 2 SessionBean when deploying in JBoss 5: The SessionBean (called LVSKeepAliveDispatcher) requires a specific user role (called "LVSUser"), specified by <method-permission > <description></description> <role-name>LVSUser</role-name> <method > <description></description> <ejb-name>LVSKeepAliveDispatcher</ejb-name> <method-name>*</method-name> </method> </method-permission> in ejb-jar.xml. I now want to access this SessionBean from a Service (i.e. a class implementing the org.jboss.varia.scheduler.Schedulable interface that is then registered as a service) running inside the same JBoss instance. Edit: My current workaround for this problem: create a new container configuration in jboss.xml and remove the security interceptor stuff from this configuration use this newly created container configuration for all my session beans that I only use locally (i.e. via local interface).

I hate having to always manually connect to the VPN connection and then rdping into my work machine. I want to just have a script which will do both of it for me. • Check if Rhythmbox is running via Python

  I am trying to extract information from Rhythmbox via dbus, but I only want to do so, if Rhythmbox is running. Is there a way to check if Rhythmbox is running via Python without starting it if it is not running? Whenever I invoke the dbus code like this: bus = dbus.Bus() obj = bus.get_object("org.gnome.Rhythmbox", "/org/gnome/Rhythmbox/Shell") iface = dbus.Interface(obj, "org.gnome.Rhythmbox.Shell) and Rhythmbox is not running, it then starts it. Can I check via dbus if Rhythmbox is running without actually starting it? Or is there any other way, other than parsing the list of currently running processes, to do so?

• Accessing entire netflix catalog via API v1.5

  Netflix recently updated their API methods for obtaining the full Netflix catalog. I'm curious if anyone has had any success accessing these new xml documents and downloading them via API v1.5 (9/2012). Previously, you could download the entire Netflix catalog via one API call (which I had working perfectly). Now, there are supposedly two calls to make: one for dvd's and one for streaming movies. I cannot make these calls return anything except for an empty array. Please don't offer an answer unless you have personally downloaded the entire catalog via these new API's. • Dll only loads correctly via LoadLibrary?

  I'm trying to use dbghelp.dll. If I set it up in the VS2008 properties to point to the correct library and header file, and put dbghelp.dll in the same directory as the executable, one of the functions in the dll fails. If I LoadLibrary the dll, everything that function works. I've looked at the header that gets included via the VS option, and the right one is being pulled in. The correct lib is being pulled in (checked via /verbose option), and depends.exe shows the correct dll is loaded. Does anyone know why I can't get this to work? I'll probably just go with LoadLibrary, but I'm genuinely stumped on this one. EDIT: SymfromAddr fails with an "error 87", whatever that is. If I load the dll via LoadLibrary, it works.

• Calling a WCF WebService in PHP via wsHttpBinding.

  I have a WCF webservice I can connect to it via basicHttp, but not wsHttp. I try to conenct to it via wshttp via the following: $service = new SoapClient ("http://service.companyname.local:6666/Service/?wsdl", array( "location" => "http://service.companyname.local:6666/Service/WCF", "trace" => true, 'soap_version' => SOAP_1_2 ) ); The call to the SoapClient constructor returns fine. When I try to call one using $client-FunctionName, the page just sits there loading for quite a while, and eventually returns the error "Error Fetching http headers". What exactly is this supposed to mean and how do I fix it? (Consuming the service from .Net client works perfectly.)

• Determining Terminal lines/cols via PHP CLI

  I know that it is quite easy to figure out a terminal's size parameters via the stty -a command. When using local CLI PHP scripts, there is no problem at all on grabbing that output via system() or so. But I am trying the same thing via a php script started from an ssh command. Sadly, all that stty ever returns is: stty: standard input: Invalid argument. The calling code is: exec('stty -a | head -n 1', $query); echo $query[0]; So the question is: If I can output to the terminal and read input from it (e.g. can fread() from STDIN and fwrite() to STDOUT in PHP, shouldn't stty also have valid STDIN and STDOUT?

• Install McAfee ePO Agent via Group Policy

  We have recently deployed ePO to our infrastructure, but the Agent will not deploy to all systems. We suspect this is a firewall issue as disabing Windows Firewall generally makes it work. We have decided to install the Agent via Group Policy to make sure all systems get the it and then ePO will deploy VirusScan on reboot. Following the manual I have run: Framepkg.exe /gengpomsi /SiteInfo=<sharedpath>\SiteList.xml /FrmInstLogLoc=<localtempDir> \<filename>.log and then created the GPO, but it never installs. Has anyone managed to get this working? Or maybe they can suggest a resolution for the failed installs of Agent deploy from ePO?

  This isn't so much of a problem, but would like to know why this happens. we have a dedicated server running WHM. If I access the server via its IP address directly I am automatically redirected to http://xx.xxx.xx.xxx/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi I know how to edit this page (this isnt the problem) I'm just curious why I get redirected to this .cgi page, rather than simply remain @ xx.xxx.xx.xxx/ and view my default "landing page", if you like. What setting could I change so that if anyone visits my server IP, they do not get redirected to xx.xxx.xx.xxx/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi For instance if you visit 173.194.37.104 (google), you view the google home page, but URL remains the same. Hope this makes sense. thanks
