  • Controlling FPU behavior in an OpenMP program?

    - by STingRaySC
I have a large C++ program that modifies the FPU control word (using _controlfp()). It unmasks some FPU exceptions and installs a SEHTranslator to produce typed C++ exceptions. I am using VC++ 9.0. I would like to use OpenMP (v.2.0) to parallelize some of our computational loops. I've already successfully applied it to one, but the numerical results are slightly different (though I understand it could also be due to calculations being performed in a different order). I'm assuming this is because the FPU state is thread-specific. Is there some way to have the OpenMP threads inherit that state from the master thread? Or is there some way to specify using OpenMP that new threads execute a particular function that sets up the correct state? What is the idiomatic way to deal with this situation?

  • Generate POCO classes in different project to the project with Entity Framework model

    - by Max
I'm trying to use the Repository Pattern with EF4 using VS2010. To this end I am using POCO code generation by right clicking on the entity model designer and clicking Add code generation item. I then select the POCO template and get my classes. What I would like to be able to do is have my solution structured into separate projects for Entity (POCO) classes and another project for the entity model and repository code. This means that my MVC project could use the POCO classes for strongly typed views etc and not have to know about the repository or have to have a reference to it. To plug it all together I will have another separate project with interfaces and use IoC. Sounds good in my head I just don't know how to generate the classes into their own project! I can copy them and then change the namespaces on them but I wanted to avoid manual work whenever I change the schema in the db and want to update my model. Thanks

  • Does Java support dynamic method invocation?

    - by eSKay
class A { void F() { System.out.println("a"); }} class B extends A { void F() { System.out.println("b"); }} public class X { public static void main(String[] args) { A objA = new B(); objA.F(); } } Here, F() is being invoked dynamically, isn't it? This article says ... the Java bytecode doesn’t support dynamic method invocation. There are three supported invocations modes : invokestatic, invokespecial, invokeinterface or invokevirtual. These modes allows to call methods with known signature. We talk of strongly typed language. This allows to to make some checks directly at compile time. On the other side, the dynamic languages use dynamic types. So we can call a method unknown at the compile time, but that’s completely impossible with the Java bytecode. What am I missing?

  • Ambiguous call between methods ASP.NET MVC

    - by GuiPereira
I'm pretty new in ASP.NET MVC (about 3 months) and i've the followin issue: I have a Entity Class called 'Usuario' in a ClassLibrary referenced as 'Core' and, when i create a strongly-typed view and add a html.textboxfor< like: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(u => u.Login) %> it raises the following error: Error 3 The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties: 'Microsoft.Web.Mvc.ExpressionInputExtensions.TextBoxFor<Core.Usuario,string>(System.Web.Mvc .HtmlHelper<Core.Usuario>, System.Linq.Expressions.Expression<System.Func<Core.Usuario,string>>)' and 'System.Web.Mvc.Html.InputExtensions.TextBoxFor<Core.Usuario,string>(System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHel per<Core.Usuario>, System.Linq.Expressions.Expression<System.Func<Core.Usuario,string>>)' d:\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\GuiPereiraMVC2\GuiPereiraMVC2\Views\Gestao\Index.aspx 20 25 GuiPereiraMVC2 anyone knows why?

  • SQLite3's dynamic typing

    - by Bradford Larsen
SQLite3 uses dynamic typing rather than static typing, in contrast to other flavors of SQL. The SQLite website reads: Most SQL database engines (every SQL database engine other than SQLite, as far as we know) uses static, rigid typing. With static typing, the datatype of a value is determined by its container - the particular column in which the value is stored. SQLite uses a more general dynamic type system. In SQLite, the datatype of a value is associated with the value itself, not with its container. It seems to me that this is exactly what you don't want, as it lets you store, for example, strings in integer columns. The page continues: ...the dynamic typing in SQLite allows it to do things which are not possible in traditional rigidly typed databases. I have two questions: The use case question: What are some examples where sqlite3's dynamic typing is, in fact, beneficial? The historical/design question: What was the motivation for implementing sqlite with dynamic typing?

  • Technique for ensuring HTML- and URL-encoding

    - by JW
Has anyone implemented a good template system for ensuring that output is properly HTML-encoded where it makes sense? Maybe even something that recognizes when output should be URL-encoded or JSON-encoded instead? The lazy approach — just encoding all inputs — causes problems when you want to send those inputs to a database, or to a block of JavaScript code. So something a little smarter is needed. The tedious approach — putting the proper encoding function around each piece of data on the template — works, but it's easy for developers to forget to do it. Is there a good approach that makes it easy for developers, and ensures that the right encoding is done? I was listening to one of the SO podcasts, and Joel tossed out an idea about using typed data to enforce a difference between HTML-encoded strings and non-encoded strings. Maybe that could be a starting point. I'm looking more for a strategy than for an implementation in a particular language (although I'd be happy to hear about implementations that already exist and work).

  • jQuery number seperator - Seperate number by each 1.000

    - by Kim Andersen
Hi I'm developing a new site, and in here it's possible for the user to type in a price in a input-textfield. So what I need is some jQuery-code to transforn the typed in price. This means, that when a user types in "1000", the vissible text in the input field shall automatically be transformed to "1.000" - with a period. And if they type in "10000" it should be transformed to "10.000" etc. You can see a live example on this website I found: http://www.boligsiden.dk/ I know it's on danish, but on the frontpage under the map, there are to input fields. One of them is saying "Minimum kontaktpris". You can try to type in a number in here, and see the effect that I'm looking for. Does anybody know how I can achieve this? Either by a jQuery plugin, or by some "homemade"-code? Thanks in advance. /Kim Andersen

  • WPF DataGridTextColumn Can't type point for float data

    - by Alvin
I had a WPF DataGrid and use DataGridTextColumn Binding to a Collection. The items in Collection had some float property. When my program launched, I modify the value of float property in DataGrid, if I type a integer value, it works well. But if I type char . for a float value, char . can't be typed. I had to type all the numbers first, and then jump to the . position to type char . to finish my input. So how can I type . in my situation? Thanks.

  • Preserving DataRowState when serializing DataSet using DataContractSerializer

    - by user349453
For various reasons I am having to send a typed dataset to a WCF service endpoint. This works fine except that upon Deserializing, the RowState of each row in each DataTable is set to 'Added', regardless of what they were on the client. If I write the serialized stream out to a file, I see that the RowState is not part of the Serialized data. How can I add this so that I can preserve the RowState across service boundaries? Not that I think it matters, but the client process is running .net 3.5 while the service process is running .net 4.0

  • Using NHibernate with an EAV data model

    - by devonlazarus
I'm trying to leverage NH to map to a data model that is a loose interpretation of the EAV/CR data model. I have most of it working but am struggling with mapping the Entity.Attributes collection. Here are the tables in question: -------------------- | Entities | -------------------- | EntityId PK |-| | EntityType | | -------------------- | ------------- | V -------------------- | EntityAttributes | ------------------ --------------------------- -------------------- | Attributes | | StringAttributes | | EntityId PK,FK | ------------------ --------------------------- | AttributeId FK | -> | AttributeId PK | -> | StringAttributeId PK,FK | | AttributeValue | | AttributeType | | AttributeName | -------------------- ------------------ --------------------------- The AttributeValue column is implemented as an sql_variant column and I've implemented an NHibernate.UserTypes.IUserType for it. I can create an EntityAttribute entity and persist it directly so that part of the hierarchy is working. I'm just not sure how to map the EntityAttributes collection to the Entity entity. Note the EntityAttributes table could (and does) contain multiple rows for a given EntityId/AttributeId combination: EntityId AttributeId AttributeValue -------- ----------- -------------- 1 1 Blue 1 1 Green StringAttributes row looks like this for this example: StringAttributeId AttributeName ----------------- -------------- 1 FavoriteColor How can I effectively map this data model to my Entity domain such that Entity.Attributes("FavoriteColors") returns a collection of favorite colors? Typed as System.String?

  • Entity Framework 4 relationship management in POCO Templates - More lazy than FixupCollection?

    - by Joe Wood
I've been taking a look at EF4 POCO templates in beta 2. The FixupCollection looks fine for maintaining the model correctness after updating the relationship collection property (i.e. product.Orders it would set the order.Product reference ). But what about support for handling the scenario when some of those Order objects are removed from the context? The use-case of maintaining cascading deletes in the in-memory model. The old Typed DataSet model used to do this by performing the query through the container to derive the relationship results. Like the DataSet, this would require a reference to the ObjectContext inside the entity class so that it could query the top-level Order collection. Better support for Separation of Concerns in the ObjectContext would be required. It looks like EF is not suited to this use-case that DataSets did out of the box.... am I right?

  • HTML encode UTF-8 string gets mangled into latin1

    - by Ken Mayer
I'm parsing my nginx logs, and I want to discover some details from the HTTP_REFERER string, for example, the query string used to find the web site. One user typed in "México" which gets encoded in the log as "query=M%E9xico". Passing this through Rack::Utils.parse_query('query=M%E9xico') you get a hash, {"query" = "M?xico"} When you to stuff "M?exico" into Postgres (but not the more forgiving SQLite), it pukes because the string isn't proper UTF-8. Looking at http://rack.rubyforge.org/doc/Rack/Utils.html#M000324, unescape is packing a hex string. How can I convert the string back to UTF-8, or can I get parse_query to return UTF-8 in the first place.

  • Python serialize lexical closures?

    - by dsimcha
Is there a way to serialize a lexical closure in Python using the standard library? pickle and marshal appear not to work with lexical closures. I don't really care about the details of binary vs. string serialization, etc., it just has to work. For example: def foo(bar, baz) : def closure(waldo) : return baz * waldo return closure I'd like to just be able to dump instances of closure to a file and read them back. Edit: One relatively obvious way that this could be solved is with some reflection hacks to convert lexical closures into class objects and vice-versa. One could then convert to classes, serialize, unserialize, convert back to closures. Heck, given that Python is duck typed, if you overloaded the function call operator of the class to make it look like a function, you wouldn't even really need to convert it back to a closure and the code using it wouldn't know the difference. If any Python reflection API gurus are out there, please speak up.

  • Html index page and files in that directory

    - by Frank
On my web site, there is an index page, but if I take out that index page, users will see the files in that directory, for instance my site is : XYZ.com and I have a directory called "My_Dir", so when a user typed in "XYZ.com/My_Dir" he will see the index.html if there is one, but if it's not there, he will see a list of all my files inside "My_Dir", so is it safe to assume that with an index page in any of my sub directories, I can hide all the files in those directories from users, in other words if I have "123.txt, abc.html and index.html" in "My_Dir", users won't be able to see "123.txt, abc.html" because of the existence of "index.html" [ unless of course I mention those two files inside index.html ] ? • mvc presentation model best-practices

    - by Andrew Florko
Hello, everybody How do you usually convert business objects to presentation? For example: Business object Person { Id, FirstName, LastName, Patronymic ... } should be presented as "LastName F. P. " in html layout. We use Presentation classes hierarchy to represent data ready for output from Business model. Questions: Will you keep presentation model completely separated from Business Model. For example, can strong-typed views (MVC ASP.NET) aggregate formatted business data as well as raw business objects (that leads toward <%=Html.Encode(PersonHelper.ToShort(Model.Person))% html layout injections) What architecture layer do you choose for conversion (mvc controllers that formats business data from business layer, for instance). Thank you in advance

  • Whats the KeyCode for overwriting a text in TextBox in winforms

    - by Ragha J
I have a custom control which extends from TextBox. In the KeyDown event of the control I have access to the KeyCode property of keyEventArgs If the text in the textbox is selected and some other text is typed on top of it, the keyCodes that I am getting in the KeyDown event are different each time and in the KeyPress event I get the actual value. For ex: If the textbox has value 1234 and now I select 1234 and type 5 on top of it, I want to to be able to know in any of the events by some key combination that the old value 1234 is gone and the new value of the textbox is 5.

  • Does the DataAnnotations.DisplayAttribute.Order property not work with ASP.NET MVC 2?

    - by Zack Peterson
I set values for the Order property of the Display attribute in my model metadata. [MetadataType(typeof(OccasionMetadata))] public partial class Occasion { private class OccasionMetadata { [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public object Id { get; set; } [Required] [DisplayName("Title")] [Display(Order = 0)] public object Designation { get; set; } [Required] [DataType(DataType.MultilineText)] [Display(Order = 3)] public object Summary { get; set; } [Required] [DataType(DataType.DateTime)] [Display(Order = 1)] public object Start { get; set; } [Required] [DataType(DataType.DateTime)] [Display(Order = 2)] public object Finish { get; set; } } } I present my models in strongly-typed views using the DisplayForModel and EditorForModel methods. <%= Html.DisplayForModel() %> and <%= Html.EditorForModel() %> But, ASP.NET MVC 2 displays the fields out of order! What might I have wrong?

  • Transalation of tasks in .NET 1.1 to .NET 3.5

    - by ggonsalv
In .Net 1.1 I would run a stored procedure to fill a typed dataset. I would use a Datareader to fill the dataset for speed (though it was probably not necessary) Then I would use the Dataset to bind to multiple controls on the page so as to render the data to multiple CSS/javsript based tabs on the page. This would also reduce the database call to 1. So I know I could this in 3.5, but is there a better way. For example can one stored procedure create an EDM object to be used. Since the data is mainly readonly should I even bother changing or keep using the Stored proc -> Data set -> Bind individual controls to specific data tables

  • DataReader - hardcode ordinals?

    - by David Neale
When returning data from a DataReader I would typically use the ordinal reference on the DataReader to grab the relevant column: if (dr.HasRows) Console.WriteLine(dr[0].ToString()); (OR dr.GetString(0); OR (string)dr[0];)... I have always done this because I was advised at an early stage that using dr["ColumnName"] or a more elegant way of indexing causes a performance hit. However, whilst everything is becoming increasingly strongly-typed I feel more uncomfortable with this. I'm also aware that the above does not check for DBNull. How should data be returned from a DataReader?

  • Simpler Linq to XML queries with the DLR

    - by Xavier
Hi folks, I have a question regarding Linq to XML queries and how we could possibly make them more readable using the new dynamic keyword. At the moment I am writing things like: var result = from p in xdoc.Elements("product") where p.Attribute("type").Value == "Services" select new { ... } What I would like to write is something like: var result = from p in xdoc.Products where p.Type == "Services" select new { ... } I know I can do this with Linq to XSD which is pretty good already, but obviously this requires an XSD schema and I don't always have one. I am sure there should be a way to achieve this using the new dynamic features of .NET 4.0 but I'm not sure how or if anyone already had a go at this. Obviously I would loose some of the advantages of Linq to XSD (typed members and compile time checks) but it wouldn't be worse than the original solution and would certainly be more readable. Anyone has an idea? Thanks

  • How to aggregate over few types with linq?

    - by Shimmy
Can someone help me translate the following to one liner: Dim items As New List(Of Object) For Each c In ph.Contacts items.Add(New With {.Type = "Contact", .Id = c.ContactId, .Title = c.Title}) Next For Each c In ph.Persons items.Add(New With {.Type = "Person", .Id = c.PersonId, .Title = c.Title}) Next For Each c In ph.Jobs items.Add(New With {.Type = "Job", .Id = c.JobId, .Title = c.Title}) Next Is it possible to merge them all into one query or method line, I don't really care if this will be done with something other than linq, I am just looking for a more efficient way as I have a long list coming ahead, and the aggregating list will be strongly-typed using Dim list = blah blah

  • Create a T4MVC ActionLink with hash/pound sign)

    - by Dan Atkinson
Is there a way to create a strongly typed T4MVC ActionLink with a hash in it? For example, here is the link I'd like to create: <a href="/Home/Index#food">Feed me</a> But there's no extension to the T4MVC object that can do this. <%= Html.ActionLink("Feed me", T4MVC.Home.Index()) %> So, what I end up having to do is create an action, and then embed it that way: <a href="<%= Url.Action(T4MVC.Home.Index()) %>"#food>Feed me</a> This isn't very desirable. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance

  • asp.net mvc textbox date format

    - by maxxxee
My form contains a textbox for date input. When submitted the data is used to add a row to the table. The view is strongly typed to the table. The problem is that the database server is configured with US date format. But the users need to use UK date format in the textbox. When users enter uk date format error is thrown. The database server configuration cannot be changed. So what can be done so that users can enter date in uk format?

  • Does ActiveRecord make Ruby on Rails code hard to test?

    - by Erik Öjebo
I've spent most of my time in statically typed languages (primarily C#). I have some bad experiences with the Active Record pattern and unit testing, because of the static methods and the mix of entities and data access code. Since the Ruby community probably is the most test driven of the communities out there, and the Rails ActiveRecord seems popular, there must be some way of combining TDD and ActiveRecord based code in Ruby on Rails. I would guess that the problem goes away in dynamic languages, somehow, but I don't see how. So, what's the trick?
