    Hello, I have a YUI datatable and I have a function which is invoked when I click on a row: ... YAHOO.keycoes.myDatatable = myDatatable; ... myDatatable.subscribe("rowClickEvent", oneventclickrow); var oneventclickrow = function( args ) { ... } I'd like to invoke the function subscribed to rowClickEvent on the row which is currently highlighted in the datatable (the row which was clicked for the last time). I've tried to do something like this: YAHOO.keycoes.myDatatable.getSelectedRows()[0].rowClickEvent() but getSelectedRows() doesn't return any row. How can I get the highlighted row in the datatable and then call the function associated with rowClickEvent? Thanks

  • How do you send email invites to people who have been invited by users of your website?

    We've developed a web application where people can sign-up on our website to make use of our service. We have a functionality that allows users to send invites to their friends by looking up their contacts on Gmail, Yahoo Mail etc. My question is - do we have to use a 3rd party email management software like a MailChimp or SendGrid to send such emails or should we send them directly? If we send the emails directly and if the recipients start marking those emails as spam, isn't there a very high chance that we might get banned by Gmail, Yahoo etc.?

  • How can I refactor out needing so many for-loops in rails?

    I need help refactoring this multi-loop thing. Here is what I have: Campaign has_many Contacts Campaign also has many templates for EVent (Email, Call, and Letter). I need a list of all the Emails, Calls and Letters that are "overdue" for every Contact that belongs to a Campaign. Overdue is determined by a from_today method which looks at the date the Contact was entered in the system and the number of days that needs to pass for any given Event. from_today() outputs the number of days from today that the Event should be done for a given Contact. Here is what I've done, it works for all Emails in a Campaign across all contacts. I was going to try to create another each do loop to change the class names.     stackoverflow, I am experimenting with implementing OpenID in my existing site. I have looked at Plaxo's article on this very subject and I'm a mite confused about something. I am using this PHP OpenID library. I have some code running, and I am getting a unique OpenID back. From myopenid.com, I am getting an id that looks like https://mecablaze.myopenid.com/ But from Yahoo and Google, I am getting an ID that much more cryptic, e.g. https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=AItOawlbp1cxujdJWDnpx72xVROOw-5V_WzIDZA Are Google's and Yahoo's "gibberish" ids unique for every login user, i.e. is this the value that I use to tie in with existing user on my web app?

  • Keeping a large volume of data in Session - Suggestions / alternatives?

    I'm developing a web app for which the client wants us to query their data as little as possible. The data will be coming from a Microsoft CRM instance. So we've agreed that data will only be queried as and when it is needed, therefore if a web user wants to see a list of contacts (for example) that list is fetched into a local DataTable. Then if a new contact is created on the website the new contact is sent to CRM and added to the local DataTable at the same time. Likewise for edits. If the user then looks at their contacts again the data will just come from the local DataTable. At the moment local data is being kept in Session but my concern is that too much memory will start being used up. However traffic is expected to be pretty small, perhaps no more than 20 concurrent users so am I worrying about nothing or is there a better way you can suggest to handle this?

    I saw this post on Sitepoint quoting a statement by Rasmus Lerdorf which goes (according to Sitepoint) as follows: "How can you make PHP fast? Well, you can’t" was his quick answer. PHP is simply not fast enough to scale to Yahoo levels. PHP was never meant for those sorts of tasks. "Any script based language is simply not fast enough". To get the speed that is necessary for truly massive web systems you have to use compiled C++ extensions to get true, scaleable architecture. That is what Yahoo does and so do many other PHP heavyweights. Intrigued by the statement (not to mention the fact that up to now, all I was doing in PHP was small database-based apps), I was wondering how I could "use compiled C++ extensions" with PHP. Any ideas or resources?

  • Odd visual issue with ListView item layout with two pressable pieces

    I wanted to make a ListView where the items have two pressable pieces, like the layouts that show up in a couple of places in the stock Android phone/contacts application: I have the layout working fine, including handling events from each piece separately, except for a visual issue when the smaller piece is pressed. In my application the smaller piece only gets a small ellipse for the background when it is pressed, like this: Note that is actually not my application - that is NubDial, but my application has the same problem. Since NubDial uses the exact same XML layout as the phone app, I'm not sure how relevant the list item layouts are, but here they are anyway: Contacts list: contacts_list_item.xml NubDial: contacts_list_item.xml Does anybody know what might be happening there?

Once the administrator posts an article, a mass email will be sent to around 5000 subscribers immediately. What is the best way to implement the mass mail feature?     In jQuery, when I want to show or hide something, I do this: $('#elementId').show(); $('#elementId').hide(); How do I do this with YUI? I've tried YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').hide(), asked my co-workers, looked at the documentation, and searched Google, and I've found nothing helpful. From the documentation, it looks like this should work YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').setStyle('display', 'none') but of course it does not. All I can think of is this, which sucks because then I'm not using a framework: document.getElementById('elementId').style.display = 'none';
