  • What's the benefit of function refrence?

    When I reading the code of CodeIgniter,I found some functions written as follows: function &get_instance() { global $CI, $OBJ; if (is_object($CI)) { return $CI; } return $OBJ->load; } I can understand variable refrence,but I can hardly get this through.Is it necessary to use this function style?And any benefit?     Hey all, this is my first post. I recently upgraded a wordpress site, all things load but on the top of the page and bottom of the page I get this error. Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_6v2kul3t823ah9074g3cl2lrt6, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/admin_m3/incommunion.org/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wordpress-automatic-upgrade.php on line 121 How can I remove it from the page?   • Endless scroll paging in jquery Safari

    I'm using : $(window).scroll(function () { if ($(window).scrollTop() + 10 >= ($(document).height() - $(window).height())) { loadContent(); } } It works fine with Chrome, IE, Firefox but except in Safari. In function loadContent, I used JSON to load data, as this tutorial. But while I test in Safari, It takes the content twice from JSON. If the other takes 9 items, then Safari takes 18 items. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks.

In my header file I define a variable to hold the logged in status #define loggedIn 0 I figure I should then reference this in the initWithNibName method and then decide which nib to load.     Currently my tableview looks like this: as you can see, cell.textLabel and cell.detailTextLable both load this background, and i can't work out how to get them to stop loading the background, and for it only to be the backing on the cell.   • Embedding script with timeout in case server goes down

    I need a way to make sure my script won't block the viewed page, if the server serving the script is down (port 80 is blocked for some reason). Currently when I test it and take down the server (Apache), or close the firewall, I see in the browser that it is trying to load the resource (script in that case), without success for long seconds, until it aborts. Is there a nice way to get past this issue?

    I have plenty of RAM, however, after starting and finishing a large number of processes, it seems that most of the applications' virtual memory has been paged to disk, and switching to any of the older processes requires a very long time to load the memory back into RAM. Is there a way, either via Windows API or via kernel call, to get Windows to unpage all (or as much as possible) memory? Maybe by stepping through the list of running processes and get the memory manager to unpage each process's memory?
