  • Preferred place to store username

    I am dealing with a single username and password in an App, I'm storing the password in the keychain for security but where best to store the username? In NSUserDefaults, CFPreferences or is there a way to retrieve it out of the keychain along with the password. Later on there might be two entries in the keychain so I think this might be out of the question. Or does it not matter at all?

  • Portable shebang line

    #!/usr/bin/perl This is the shebang line to a lot of scripts I'm writing lately. Hard coding the path of the binary seems like it could create some problems. For instance, if one of my users has Perl installed at /something_else/bin then they'd have to change all the shebangs. I've seen some tools that will automatically replace the shebangs, but I'm wondering if there is something simpler.

    how do you set the apartment state in the NUnit GUI runner? I'm trying to run a single NUnit test with WatiN and I'm getting the message. MyNamespace.LoginTests.CanLogin: System.Threading.ThreadStateException : The CurrentThread needs to have it's ApartmentState set to ApartmentState.STA to be able to automate Internet Explorer.

    CREATE TABLE Persons ( P_Id int NOT NULL, LastName varchar(255) NOT NULL, FirstName varchar(255), Address varchar(255), City varchar(255), CONSTRAINT pk_PersonID PRIMARY KEY (P_Id,LastName) ) The above example is taken from w3schools. From the above example, my understanding is that both P_Id, LastName together represents a Primary Key for the table Persons, correct ? Another question is why would some one want to use multiple columns as Primary keys instead of a single column ? How many such columns can be used in together as Primary key in a given table ?     Hi, I'm trying to render a web page, in QT 4.5, that uses an embedded font. Most of the time this works as expected. Unfortunately, sometimes I get really weird behaviour. The font is rendered - apparently - off-by-one. For instance the text: "By" woukd appear as "Cz" Has anyone run into this before? And - more importantly - knows how to fix this?

Make sure that the FDHost process is running. To re-start the FDHost process, run the sp_fulltext_service 'restart_all_fdhosts' command or restart the SQL Server instance. Geetha.

    I have a 128-bit unsigned integer A and a 64-bit unsigned integer B. What's the fastest way to calculate A % B - that is the (64-bit) remainder from dividing A by B? I'm looking to do this in either C or assembly language, but I need to target the 32-bit x86 platform. This unfortunately means that I cannot take advantage of compiler support for 128-bit integers, nor of the x64 architecture's ability to perform the required operation in a single instruction.

  • making python 2.6 exception backward compatible

    I have the following python code: try: pr.update() except ConfigurationException as e: returnString=e.line+' '+e.errormsg This works under python 2.6, but the "as e" syntax fails under previous versions. How can I resolved this? Or in other words, how do I catch user-defined exceptions (and use their instance variables) under python 2.6. Thank you!
