• How to Add the Windows Calculator to the Quick Access Toolbar in Microsoft Excel 2013

  Do you use the Windows Calculator to perform quick calculations while building spreadsheets in Excel? You can save time by adding the Calculator to the Quick Access Toolbar in Excel so you don’t have to leave the program to access the Calculator. To do this, click the down arrow on the right side of the Quick Access Toolbar and select More Commands from the drop-down menu. On the Quick Access Toolbar screen on the Excel Options dialog box, select Commands Not in the Ribbon from the Choose commands from drop-down list. Scroll down in the long list and select Calculator. Click Add to add the Calculator to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click OK to accept the change and close the Excel Options dialog box. You’ll see a Calculator icon on the Quick Access Toolbar. When you move your mouse over the icon, a hint displays saying “Custom.” Despite the label, when you click the icon, the Windows Calculator opens. The same procedure works for adding the Windows Calculator to Excel 2010, as well.

• Drag/drop mail folder from Outlook to Explorer export to .pst file?

  While working on large-scale projects, I collect all mail conversations pertaining to the project in a separate folder within Outlook. When the project is completed, I want to archive the entire folder, for reference purposes. So my question is this: Does anyone know of a tool/plugin for Outlook 2007/2010 that allows you to drag/drop a mailfolder from within Outlook, to a Windows Explorer window, exporting the folder as a .pst file, preserving folder structure and timestamps on mails? I am doing this manually at the moment, but having a tool that would use simple drag/drop-functionality would greatly simplify my workflow for handling project-specific mail.

• New ZFSSA code release - April 2012

  A new version of the ZFSSA code was released over the weekend. In case you have missed a few, we are now on code 2011.1.2.1. This minor update is very important for our friends with the older SAS1 cards on the older 7x10 systems. This 2.1 minor release was made specifically for them, and fixes the issue that their SAS1 card had with the last major release. They can now go ahead and upgrade straight from the 2010.Q3.2.1 code directly to 2011.1.2.1. If you are on a 7x20 series, and already running 2011.1.2.0, there is no real reason why you need to upgrade to 1.2.1, as it's really only the Pandora SAS1 HBA fix. If you are not already on 1.2.0, then go ahead and upgrade all the way to 2011.1.2.1. I hope everyone out there is having a good April so far. • IIS won't start

  When I startup my computer, pages from my local webserver (IIS) won't load. In the event viewer(System log) I get the error below. The only way I get IIS to work again is to issue an iisreset.exe. I have Windows XP. Any ideas to fix this?   BizTalk Map Editor (Mapper) is a good editor, especially in the last 2010 version of the BizTalk. But still sometimes it cannot do the tasks easily. It is time for the Xslt code, It is time to remember that the maps are executed by the Xslt engine.  Right-click the Mapper Grid (a field between the source and target schemas) and choose Properties /Custom XSLT Path.  Input here a name of the file with Xslt code. Only this code will be executed, forget the picture in the Mapper, all those links and functoids.  Let’s see the real-life example. There are two source Addresses. One is on the top level and the second is inside the Member_Address record with MaxOccurs=* . The target address is placed inside the Locator record with MaxOccurs=*. The requirement is to map all source address to the one target address structure. The source Xml document looks like: The result Xml should be like this: Try to do this mapping with the Mapper and you will spent good amount of time and the result map would be tricky. If we use the Xslt code, the mapping will be simple and unambiguous, like this: Simple, elegant.

• Fix corrupt NTFS partition without Windows

  MY NTFS Partition has gotten corrupt somehow (it's a relic from the days when I had Windows installed). I'm putting the debug output of fdisk and blkid here. At the same time, any OS is unable to mount my root partition, which is located next to my NTFS partition. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, though. When you're in a situation where you're introducing a new product, in IT terms, introducing a new application, you would like to test all possible scenarios that your end users could be using and experiencing. However, that's a very time and resource intensive process to do for every application change or update.  It's like getting ready for the big game but you have no game plan.That's why a new approach has been developed. I want to use the python 2.5.2 that is in this directory [user@localhost Downloads]$ ls |grep "Python-2*" Python-2.5.2 Python-2.5.2.tgz to run a python script in Khan Academy platform against a google app engine application sudo python sample_data.py -a ~/workspace/GAE/google_appengine/appcfg.py upload Currently, when running the last script 2.7 python complains a lot (Google App Engine runs on 2.5.2 mostly and 2.6 almost) I would like to do something like sudo python env set ~/Downloads/Python-2.5.2 sample_data.py -a ~/workspace/GAE/google_appengine/appcfg.py upload Is this possible? • How to add higher video resolution in Ubuntu 10.04 (UNR on EEE1101HA)

  I picked up an ASUS EEE 1101HA with Windows 7 and installed UBUNTU 10.04 Netbook Remix (dual boot). Ubuntu runs fine, but it doesn't recognize that the notebook LCD is 1388x768 and thus only offers 1024x768 and 800x600 as monitor resolution. So .. how can I tell it about that higher resolution? (Have root pwd & vi, una-bash-ed to use both.. ) UPDATE there is currently (early May 2010) no video-driver for the Intel GMA500 "Poulsbo" => no solution exists for now.

• Can't avoid starting macbook in safe mode

  I recently spilled some water on my MacBook (mid-2010) keyboard and it shorted out several of the keys. Notably, control and left option don't work, and the system thinks that the left shift is permanently held down. I plugged in an external USB keyboard and all keys work fine; there's only one problem: The computer always starts in safe mode because the shift key is held down. I've tried holding down other keys (escape, space, c to name a few) and the control key doesn't work so I can't try that. I also tried KeyRemap4Macbook but it doesn't work in safe mode and it doesn't seem to help on startup for me. I can log in to Windows with no problems (with rEFIt) and I can browse the internet with no problems, but I can't program on the Mac OS side in safe mode (it's really slow). Which is mainly what I use this Macbook for. Any ideas out there on how to avoid starting in safe mode?

If you are only interested in viewing a few tweets on occasion then it is not a problem. But if you are looking at a large number of tweets on a daily basis then it can be very frustrating. Notice the last tweet from TinyHacker shown here… After After installing the extension the only thing that you will need to do is refresh your Twitter page if you had it open before-hand. Now there will be a seamless connection from page to page when you are reading through tweets. An example of the economic vibrancy of the country: across the street from my hotel was the local Bentley dealership, Coach Store, Yves Saint Laurent and of course a Starbucks. I only made it to Starbucks. Both the Coach Store and YSL had a line of folks waiting to get in... As for thought leadership, there were several illustrations only on the first day. I had the opportunity to meet with a branch of the Mexican Federal Government. Their questions were not about clerical task automation, far from it! We discussed citizen on-line access to fees and services - for example looking up the duty on an international goods shipment, or tracking that my taxes have been received, or the status of my request for a certain service. Eligibility, policies and status. Having an integrated rules or policy automation system that would allow businesses and citizens to access accurate information and ensure the proper collection of fees and payment for 3rd party provided services. Then in the afternoon, I met with the owner of a roofing company (note: most roofs in Mexico are flat and made of cement). This CEO started discussing how he wanted to transform his business from a cement products company to a service company and market 5-10-15 year service contracts which would guarantee the structural integrity of the roof and of course that the roof would remain waterproof. Although his products were guaranteed, they required an annual inspection and most home owners never schedule that inspection until it is too late and water damage has occurred. These emergency calls reduce his margin and reduce customer satisfaction. This lead to a discussion of business models in general and why long term differentiation can only come from service, not just for the music or news industries, but also for roofing companies! I completely agreed with the transformational concepts described in both meetings and quickly understood why there is a Bentley dealership near my hotel.

• Compiling zip component for PHP 5.2.11 in MAMP PRO

  Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error: [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can some body explain to me how to do this the right way.

• Entering new user data into AD LDS

  I need some help configuring AD LDS (Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services). I'm not an administrator, have never configured domains and I don't have a clue how to add new users to existing domains. The thing is I need to develop an app on top of Sharepoint 2010 that must be connected to AD. I've chosen AD LDS because I can install it on Windows 7 and it acts as an active directory even though there's no domain controller present in the network. What I've done so far: I've installed AD LDS I've added a new instance with appication directory partition name DN=Air,DC=Watanabe,DC=pri I can connect to it using ADSI Edit and see all kinds of strange But now I don't know what to do? When it opens I can see the window below, but where's next? Can anybody give me some guidelines, how can I add domain users, so I can use them in my app AD required app?

• Light Voip and IM server for small teams

  So I have a small group that would need a self hosted Im/voip and possibly video conferencing solution. My goal is for a small group of people (no more than 40) to be able to collaborate within a local area network. I need something that is self hosted, so unfortunately outside solutions like Skype and hosted Lync would not work. I'm looking for something that would allow both one on one, and group communication, so and IRC server would not work. I'm hopefully looking for something that does not require multiple servers, or is too complex to set up. As a student, I have a license of Lync 2013, but setting that up on a single server without active directory is practically impossible. Would Lync 2010 be easier to do on a single server? Are there any other good solutions? Thanks

• Intermittent freeze of Windows 7 x64 on laptop

  I have Lenovo W500, 8GB RAM, 250GB Crucial SSD running Windows 7 x64 using boot-to-vhd. Lately I started to experience some random freezes for 5-30 seconds. And when I say "freeze" I mean it; it's like a time machine - no input taken, nothing is written anywhere, no log, no disk activity. And then suddenly machine would wake up and continue as if nothing happened. I do suspect that it's one of the drivers but I don't see any updates in the log lately except for .NET 4 framework and Adobe Reader. Out of new or updated software I can only recall Skype and IE9 but freezes started to occur definitely before IE install. Regular software includes but not limited to: Office 2010, VMWare Workstation, IE9, Chrome, Skype, Seesmic/TweeterDeck, Live Writer. How should I approach the "hunting season" to find our the culprit? Any tools or packages that could help me to identify the component, program, driver that causes the freeze? Cheers

• wget works with company proxy but apt-get and dpkg doesn't

  Hi, I am trying to install some software in a fresh install of Linux dnoseda 2.6.32-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 08:10:02 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux. I already set the variables http_proxy, https_proxy and ftp_proxy and wget works perfectly. But when I try with apt-get it blocks trying to conect directly to the site, without the proxy. Or the other behavior that I got is a lots of 407 authentication errors. But the wget of those packages works perfectly. It's something missing? Can you help me? thanks in advance.

  I'm using 64bit Centos Dom0 with: 2.6.18-164.15.1.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Mar 17 12:04:23 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux recently i migrated some 32bit Centos domUs on this node. As by specs 32bit domUs should work with 64bit dom0. DomUs are paravirtualized, and everything works, except iptables limit. Anyways runing csf on domU will return following messages in dmesg: ip_tables: (C) 2000-2006 Netfilter Core Team Netfilter messages via NETLINK v0.30. ip_conntrack version 2.4 (2080 buckets, 16640 max) - 304 bytes per conntrack ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 Doing lsmod on both dom0 and domU is listing all iptables modules required as loaded.
