  • Crash in Reachability API

    - by Marc
    I'm using the Reachability sample code provided by Apple to check the network connectivity and get notified of changes (Reachability Sample code). I had a look at some crash locks of my app. It seems that some crashes are due to the Reachability/SystemConfiguration Reachablity API stuff (see below). SCNetworkReachabilityGetFlags is only used in the Reachability class provided by Apple. Or am I misinterpreting the crash log? Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) Exception Codes: 0x00000000, 0x00000000 Crashed Thread: 0 Thread 0 Crashed: 0 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00000e70 mach_msg_trap + 20 1 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00003354 mach_msg + 60 2 SystemConfiguration 0x0001f480 configopen + 168 3 SystemConfiguration 0x00004d08 SCDynamicStoreCreateWithOptions + 272 4 SystemConfiguration 0x00004e54 SCDynamicStoreCreate + 24 5 SystemConfiguration 0x00015244 updateReachabilityStoreInfo + 152 6 SystemConfiguration 0x00016f04 updateCommCenterStatus + 32 7 SystemConfiguration 0x00017678 checkAddress + 1368 8 SystemConfiguration 0x0001a260 __SCNetworkReachabilityGetFlags + 1992 9 SystemConfiguration 0x0001b00c rlsPerform + 132 10 CoreFoundation 0x00058266 __CFRUNLOOP_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_A_SOURCE0_PERFORM_FUNCTION__ + 8 11 CoreFoundation 0x00028692 __CFRunLoopDoSources0 + 214 12 CoreFoundation 0x00027f62 __CFRunLoopRun + 258 13 CoreFoundation 0x00027d74 CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 220 14 CoreFoundation 0x00027c82 CFRunLoopRunInMode + 54 15 GraphicsServices 0x00004e84 GSEventRunModal + 188 16 UIKit 0x00004f8c -[UIApplication _run] + 564 17 UIKit 0x000024cc UIApplicationMain + 964 18 MyApp 0x0000f80c main (main.m:21) 19 MyApp 0x0000f77c start + 44

  • NSMutableObject from existing custom class

    - by A.S.
Hello there. I have an existing class that has methods to deserialise from XML in my code. Now I need to create correct CoreData model from that class. It's objects will be created not only from CoreData storage but also by deserializing XML (somehow like instance->title = [[NSString stringWithUTF8String: (const char *)subNode->children->content] retain; ) without saving to CoreData, and sometimes I need to save it. What is the correct steps to modify existing class to do that except of adding CoreData framework and making my class an NSManagedObject instead of NSObject? Class sample: @interface TSTSong : NSManagedObject<NTSerializableObject> { NSString *identifier; NSString *title; float length; NSURL *previewURL; NSString *author; NSURL *coverURL; NSString *appStoreId; BOOL isPurchased; NSURL *bannerURL; NSDecimalNumber *priceValue; NSLocale *priceLocale; } P.S. I'm noob, so I'f I'm doing smth. wrong - please let me know. Sorry for my english.

  • save and restore state of a tab bar controller

    - by phunehehe
I have an application that has a UITabBarController with two tabs, each having its own navigation controller. Now I want to store the state of the application when the user closes it, so that when the user relauches the application will show the same place as the last time before it was closed. So, in applicationWillTerminate: I have [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:tabBarController toFile:@"lastVisitedTab"]; Then, in applicationDidFinishLaunching: I have UITabBarController *last= (UITabBarController *)[NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:@"lastVisitedTab"]; if (last) tabBarController = [last retain]; I also have an extension to UIImage to make it compliant to NSCoding. However, this doesn't work, as the state is not preserved. The first tab gets selected all the time, and no navigation is preserved either. Can someone tell me what's wrong, or show me how to do it correctly?

  • iPhones SDK: Setting a relationship property object using core data?

    - by Harkonian
I'm using core data in my app. I have two entities that are related: EntityA and EntityB. EntityA has a property of type "relationship" with EntityB. In addition, both of these entities are defined classes (not the default NSManagedObject). I'm inserting a new object into my data like this: EntityA *newEntityA = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"EntityA" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; newEntityA.name = @"some name"; newEntityA.entityB.name = @"some other name"; The problem is entityB.name is null. Even if I add an NSLog() statement right after assigning the value, it is null. What is the proper way of setting my "name" property of EntityB when EntityB is a property of EntityA?

  • Drawing in iPad

    - by Manjunath
Hi all, I am trying to draw custom shapes in iPad application. I am using UIBezierPath for drawing which is available for 3.2 onwards. My question is whether it is good to use this class or should I go to the core graphics? Is there any difference between uibezierpath and core graphics drawing related to performance?

  • Pushing to a UITable inside a UIView from a UITableview

    - by Michael Robinson
I can firgure out how to push a UIView from a Tableview and have the "child" details appear. Here is the view I'm trying to load: Here is the code that checks for children and either pushes a itemDetail.xib or an additional UITable, I want to use the above .xib but load the correct contents "tableDataSource" into the UItable: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //Get the dictionary of the selected data source. NSDictionary *dictionary = [self.tableDataSource objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; //Get the children of the present item. NSArray *Children = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Children"]; if([Children count] == 0) { ItemDetailViewController *dvController = [[ItemDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ItemDetailView" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:dvController animated:YES]; [dvController release]; } else { //Prepare to tableview. FirstTab *rvController = [[FirstTab alloc] initWithNibName:@"FirstView" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; //Increment the Current View rvController.CurrentLevel += 1; //Set the title; rvController.CurrentTitle = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Title"]; //Push the new table view on the stack [self.navigationController pushViewController:rvController animated:YES]; rvController.tableDataSource = Children; [rvController release]; } } Thanks for the help. I see lots of stuff on this but can't find the correct push instructions.

  • CATransitionFade not working on newly added subviews

    - by David Liu
    For some reason, fading in new buttons using CATransition isn't working for me when it's a newly added button. The fade animation, however, is working on existing subviews. Code: // Add new button. CATransition *animation = [CATransition animation]; [animation setDuration:0.5]; [animation setType:kCATransitionFade]; [[button layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"fadeIn"]; [self.view addSubview:button]; // Enable previous button (Enabling fades in different type of background) if(toolbar.buttons.count != 0){ UIButton * prevButton = [toolbar.buttons objectAtIndex:(toolbar.buttons.count - 1)]; prevButton.enabled = YES; [[prevButton layer] addAnimation:animation forKey:@"fadeIn"]; }

  • TTRequestLoader always raises "TTDASSERT failed: _cacheKey == request.cacheKey"

    - by Hoang Pham
I run the TTCatalog application from the Three20 library and encountered this error when click on the "Photo Thumbnails" of the "Three20 Catalog": TTDASSERT failed: _cacheKey == request.cacheKey I look at the breakpoint and see that it is on line 119 of TTRequestLoader.m of the method addRequest. I know that it failed to do the assertion of the cacheKey, but why this error appears even on the sample application, does anyone encounter the same error? What is the workaround of this? Thanks, P/S: I downloaded the Three20 from the git directory just yesterday. So I assume this be the newest one.

  • Animating resizing and moving UIView at the same time

    - by chouchou
I'd like to "Stretch" a UIView to the right side, meaning increase it's frame.size.width by foo pixels and at the same time decreasing it's frame.origin.x by foo pixels, using [UIView beginAnimations] syntax. However, if I do that, when the animation begins the view immediately resizes, and then starts the animation for the origin. CGRect currFrame = someView.frame; currFrame.size.width += 100; currFrame.origin.x -= 100; [UIView beginAnimations:@"Anim1" context:nil]; someView.frame = currFrame; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.7]; [UIView commitAnimations]; I've also tried breaking the animation down to 2 parts but then I can't keep the right position in place. Any help is much appreciated!

  • How to create Dictionary object in AppDelegate to access objectkey in another ViewController

    - by TechFusion
Hello, I have created Window Based application and tab bar controller as root controller. My objective is to store Text Field data values in one tab bar VC and will be accessible and editable by other VC and also retrievable when application start. I am looking to use NSDictionary class in AppDelegate so that I can access stroed Data Values with keys. //TestAppDelegate.h @interface { ..... .... NSDictionary *Data; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSDictionary *Data; //TestAppDelegate.m #import "TestAppDelegate.h" NSString *kNamekey =@"Namekey"; NSString *kUserIDkey =@"UserIDkey"; NSString *kPasswordkey =@"Passwordkey"; @implemetation TestAppDelegate @synthesize Data; -(void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication)application { NSString *NameDefault; NSString *UserIDdefault; NSString *Passworddefault; NSString *testvalue = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey: kNamekey]; if(testvalue == nil) { NSDictionary *appDefaults = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: NameDefault, kNamekey, UserIdefault kUserIDkey, Passwordefault kPasswordkey, nil]; self.Data = appDefaults; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] registerDefaults:appDefaults]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; } else { } } Here ViewController is ViewController of Navigation Controller which is attached with one tab bar.. I have attached xib file with ViewController //ViewController.h @interface IBOutlet UITextField *Name; IBOutlet UITextField *UserId; IBOutlet UITextField *Password; } @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *Name @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *UserId; @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *Password; -(IBAction)Save:(id)sender; @end Here in ViewController.m I want to store Text Field input data with key which are defined in AppDelegate. I have linked Save Barbutton with action. Here I am not getting how to access NSDictionary class with object and keys in ViewController. //ViewController.m -(IBAction)Save:(id)sender{ TestAppDelegate *appDelegate = (TestAppDelegate*)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; //Here how to access knamekey here to set object(Name.test) value with key } Please guide me about this. Thanks,

  • UINavigationController + shouldAutoRotate + no subclassing

    - by ACBurk
I have a navigation driven app. I need that app to rotate. The UINavigationController is the root controller/view in the window. I know (and have experienced why) it is a no-no to subclass UINavigationController. I know all i have to do is insert: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } into the UINavigationController and it will rotate fine. So my question is: how do I enable rotation on the root view controller (UINavigationController) WITHOUT subclassing it?

  • Location of the object after scrolling in UIScrollView

    - by ludo
Hi, I have a scrollView (width:320px height:100px) on my UIView, inside it I add 10 images with width:106.5px each. After that I use this function to have 3 different parts inside my scrollView, so everytime I scroll, an image will automatically be center. -(void)scrollViewDidEndDragging:(UIScrollView *)scrollView willDecelerate:(BOOL)decelerate { [self returnToPosition:self.scrollView]; } -(void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { [self returnToPosition:self.scrollView]; } -(void)returnToPosition:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { CGFloat itemWidth = 106.5f; CGFloat position = [self.scrollView contentOffset].x; CGFloat newPosition = 0.0f; CGFloat offSet = position / itemWidth; NSUInteger target = (NSUInteger)(offSet + 0.5f); newPosition = target * itemWidth; [self.scrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(newPosition, 0.0f) animated:YES]; } Here is my question, I want to be able to know which image will be in the middle position after the user scroll the View, because I want to display on my UIView a text, specific to that image. But I don't know how to do that. Some Ideas?

  • Is release without prior retain dangerous?

    - by BankStrong
    I have some code which I think has extra release statements. Is the code incorrect? What is the end result? I don't understand memory management well yet - even after reading lots of articles and stackoverflow answers. Thanks for straightening me out. NSMutableArray *points = [NSMutableArray new]; for (Segment *s in currentWorkout.segments) { [points addObjectsFromArray:[s.track locationPoints]]; } [routeMap update:points]; [points release];

  • Objective-C : Member variable is losing reference between method calls.

    - by Winston
Hello, I've been having with an objective-c class which appears to be losing its pointer reference between methods of the same class. In the MyTableViewController.h file, I declare: @interface SettingsTableViewController : UITableViewController <UITextFieldDelegate>{ OCRAppDelegate *delegate; } MyTableViewController.m file - (id) init { self = [ super initWithStyle: UITableViewStyleGrouped ]; delegate = [(OCRAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] retain]; } The problem is when the "MyTableViewController" view appears again and a different method is executed within that same class, the delegate pointer (which was assigned during the init method) is no longer there. I tried to retain, but to no avail. Would anyone know why this is, it seems like perhaps it is a fundamental Objective-C issue which I am missing. Appreciate your help. Thanks, Winston

  • How to restrict rightBarButtonItem size in UINavigationBar ?

    - by lefakir
I create a rightBarButtonItem with this method : - (UIBarButtonItem *)customBarButtonWithSelector:(SEL)callback { UIButton *customButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; customButton.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, 30.0f, 30.0f); return [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:customButton] autorelease]; } At execution time the selector is fired when the bar is touched outside the button (near the middle). Is there a way to restrict the event responder in the defined bounds or in a acceptable range ?

  • MVC model flow?

    - by fuzzygoat
I am setting up an application using the MVC model and I have a query regrading the flow of information from the UI to the data model. What I need to do is place data from the UI in the model, what I have done is write a method in the view which collects the required data in an object and then passes it to the model. The model then takes ownership of the data so that the view can release its ownership. Does this sound sensible?

  • Help creating a predicate for use with filteredArrayUsingPredicate

    - by johnbdh
I am trying to learn how to use predicates and so am trying to replace the following working code with filteredArrayUsingPredicate... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; for (NSString *location in locations) { NSRange range = [location rangeOfString:query options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (range.length > 0) { [filteredLocations addObject:location]; } } Instead I am trying.... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF contains %@", searchText]; [filteredLocations addObjectsFromArray: [locations filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]]; I am not getting the same results with the predicate as I am with for loop rangeOfString. With the range of string for example searchText returns an 8 item array while with the same value returns only 2 with the predicate. Another example, hono will find honolulu in the locations array while it will not find anything using the predicate. As I understand it SELF represents the object object being evaluated ie. the locations array, so I think that is the correct syntax. Any help would be appreciated Thanks, John
