• Passing unknown classes to String Streams in C++

  I am using a template function and I am passing and I may be sending instances of a variety of classes to a string stream. What can I do to make sure this continues to work? Let me be more specific where do I define the behavior for this? Is there some member that should be on each class being sent to the string stream, should I in some enhance or extend the existing String stream (I was thinking building a class that inherits from sstream and overloads the << operator to handle all the possible classes)? I had trouble even finding documentation on this, so even links to more resources would be helpful.

  I'd like to load a file from a specific Group in Xcode/Objective-c for example: I have TWO files named "SomeFile.txt" that are in two different folders (folders not groups yet) in the OS: SomeFolderOne |- SomeFile.txt SomeFolderTwo |- SomeFile.txt Inner Xcode I make two folders, and I put a REFERENCE to these two files: SomeGroupOne |- SomeFile.txt // this file is a reference to the SomeFile.txt from SomeFolderOne SomeGroupTwo |- SomeFile.txt // this file is a reference to the SomeFile.txt from SomeFolderTwo Now I want to read the txt content with: NSString *contents = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:@"SomeFile.tx" encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:nil]; Ok it reads the 'SomeFile.txt' but sometimes the file read is from SomeGroupOne and sometimes the file is read from SomeGroupTwo. My solution looks like this : ./MyProject/ ./MyProject/dataobjects.cs <- no intellisense ./MyProject/sqlquerying.cs <- no intellisense ./MyProject/default.aspx <- intellisense works here ./MyProject/default.aspx.cs <- intellisense works here ./MyProject/mypage.aspx <- intellisense works here ./MyProject/mypage.aspx.cs <- intellisense works here Visual Studio 2010 doesn't give me any intellisense options when I work on non-code-behind files like Business Logic Layers and Data Logic Layers . In VS2008, I placed these files in the App_Code folder and intellisense worked fine. What can I do? Is there a specific folder I need to put these files in to get intellisense?

  Hello i have a login page so once the user enters the correct details he enters into the home page. Now i want to implement 3 things once he clicks the button 'log out' he must be redirected to a page saying" logged out successfully " n even if clicks the back button in the browser, he should not be able to access. if the user leaves the homepage idle for a specific amount of time say 10minutes and then he tries to navigate after 10 mins a msg should display saying "Your Session has been expired login again" if given the url of homepage he shouldnt be able to access unless logged in. • What is the most Word-like ASP.NET custom control that you can buy?

  We are looking to implement a rich-text box in an ASP.NET application and our requirements are specific to using the "Track Changes" features of Microsoft Word. The closest thing we found in the RadEditor by Telerik. This is a nice control that has a "Track Changes" button and will give you the ability to track the changes from the text in the box to now. It does not let you track your changes from the two previous versions. We have used CVSWeb in the past and the display was not great but it did have the ability (in a web page) to diff two different versions of text (source code in this case). Does anyone have any experience or know of any web-based diff tools that work nicely with a rich-text editor in the web?

  Hi, does anyone have any thoughts on what would be considered good technicaly interviews for new php programmers. Im not meaning the little questions that are intended to know language specific intricacies but more on larger interview questions that potential employees may take an hour or 2 to solve in their own time and then come back with. Specifically im looking at PHP and object orientated but are there any ideas on suitable problems that a php programmer should be able to solve within a couple of hours? I am thinking that I want to have demonstrated object orientated techniques and also unit testing capabilities but as for that it can be anything.

According to the android google maps API v2: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/views the way to set a specific zoom value is "CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(float)" and the same api https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/reference/com/google/android/gms/maps/CameraUpdateFactory#zoomTo(float) tells that the minimum argument to this function is 2. but when I call the function: mMap.moveCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(2)); The viewport of the world map is just a little bigger than Australia... • Using malloc/free in Objective-C object

  I have a class AudioManager with a member of type AudioBufferList *. (This is a struct declared in the CoreAudio framework). Since AudioBufferList is not a NSObject, I cannot retain it, so I have to alloc/free it (correct me if I'm wrong). My question is, where is the 'right' place to free it? Currently I am doing it in the dealloc method of AudioManager. If I understand correctly, this method is invoked automatically once the release message is sent to the instance of AudioManager --- is that true? Is there any other recommended practice regarding using alloc/free on non-objects members of Objective-C objects? Edit: From Apples documentation: Subclasses must implement their own versions of dealloc to allow the release of any additional memory consumed by the object—such as dynamically allocated storage for data or object instance variables owned by the deallocated object. After performing the class-specific deallocation, the subclass method should incorporate superclass versions of dealloc through a message to super: Which makes things a little bit clearer - but more insights are appreciated.

  Hello, which is the best approach to include a static library with into an application for iPhone or iPad? I could choose to compile the library supplying right platform and building a library file with the ar utility and then add as a framework to the project including the source of the library .c/.h and compile them together with the application The first approach seems simpler, because I won't care about managing all specific settings of the library I want to include but how can I create the library both for iPhone and iPad and allow xcode to use the right library upon linking? The second approach seems more complex since xcode will take care about compiling my application and the library (with different settings I suppose) then how should I go? I can easily add sources of the lib but I'll have to include the make scripts to allow xcode use them to build in the right way. Any suggestions about how to proceed? The library I'm trying to include is libssh. (I know that this library, of course, has already been compiled and tried succesfully on iPhone) Thanks in advance.

• Executing AJAX scripts within an AJAX response

  Hi there, I'm having trouble using AJAX page updates along with other AJAX scripts. During a normal page load, the AJAX scripts (picture scrolling and picture thumbnails) work fine. But when I update a page with AJAX, these scripts (usually loaded in the header of the initial page load) stop working. I am wondering if this is specific to these scripts and I need to look into them deeper to resolve/re-write or if I am missing something more generic in combining AJAX page updates with AJAX scripts the returned code relies on. Embedded javascript runs fine. Thanks for your ideas! • Sharepoint - Navigation.QuickLaunch has missing items

  The following code generates an ASCII art tree view of a sharepoint site structure based on the items in the quick launch menu. But some are missing. From googling i've found suggestions that this may be because QuickLaunch only contains items that have been customised. Any idea how to fix this? I want to use the QuickLaunch items as many of the sites have subsites and pages that need to be displayed in a specific order.   If I have a machine, call it machine 1, that is able to solve a problem: it's just a machine, not persé a Turing machine. It can solve one specific problem. If this exact same problem can be solved on a Universal Turing Machine, then is my original machine, 1, a Universal Turing Machine too? This does not hold for all problems, which is already ansered. Are there any problems which have this described property at all? If it is absolutely not true, then why? Can someone give an example of a problem to be solved. If this problem is solved by my original machine, 1, definately makes this a Universal Turning Machine? Or does such a problem not exists? If it doesn't exists, why? I'm very interested, but can't figure it out... Thanks. Edit: made the question more clear.

• IE6 - body shrink on hover / z-index change

  I'm debugging a site to make it work for IE6 (god, please, let this be the last time). I've gotten pretty far with getting the the layout look right. There's just one more thing bugging me. Some elements like links, when they get hovered, the body of the site shrinks. I have built a dropdown with javascript. When it should show, the body of the site shrinks. There is a slideshow, made with javascript, which changes the z-index of the images, everytime it changes the z-index, the body shrinks. Now I found some information that IE6 creates this specific shrinking behaviour when using a fixed position element. But this is not the case. Someone here have some ideas for solving this? Thanks!

• How to properly name record creation(insertion) datetime field ?

  If I create a table with datetime default getdate() field that is intended to keep date&time of record insertion, which name is better to use for that field ? I like to use Created and I've seen people use DateCreated or CreateDate. Other possible candidates that I can think of are: CreatedDate, CreateTime, TimeCreated, CreateDateTime, DateTimeCreated, RecordCreated, Inserted, InsertedDate, ... From my point of view anything with Date inside name looks bad because it can be confused with date part in case if I have 2 fields: CreateDate,CreateTime, so I wonder if there are any specific recommendations/standards in that area based on real reasons, not just style, mood or consistency. Of course, if there are 100 existing tables and this is table 101 then I would use same naming convention as used in those 100 tables for the sake of consistency, but this question is about first table in first database in first server in first application.

• Silverlight Cannot find XML data source

  Hello.. I am very new to Silverlight development. I understand that this is client side technology therefore the paradyme is differant from that of conventional ASP.NET development. Having said that, I don't understand where my server side code is deployed. I have a silver light \ MVC application. I am trying to read an XML document from within my 'Models' folder. The following peice of code is executed from within a class that is in the same location as the XML document, 'Models'. The load() results in a SystemIOFileNotFound exception. I noticed that when building the application the XML document is not laid down in the same location as the web project's assembly. I assume this is specific to the fact that this is a Silverlight project. • MGTwitterEngine - Using getImageAtURL on iPhone

  Essentially, I'm working on asynchronously downloading images and adding them to specific UITableView cells (twitter profile images using MGTwitterEngine from Matt Gemmell). I've looked at general asynchronous download code and must admit, I'm still too much of a noob to understand it well enough to adapt it to my purposes. Instead, I'm attempting to use Gemmell's included getImageAtUrl method to add the images. I have it working to the point that -imageReceived: receives the images for visible cells, however, I'm stuck as to how to include them into the appropriate cells at that point. - (void)imageReceived:(UIImage *)image forRequest:(NSString *)identifier { NSLog(@"Got an image:%@",image); // What goes here? Or elsewhere? } This method is within my main view controller, I also have a custom cell controller where I'm drawing the cell content using Loren Brichter's fast scrolling code. Any help with this MGTwitterEngine method in particular, or with dynamically adding these images to my table cells would be greatly appreciated.

• Strange crashes on the iPad device with core graphics functions

  I am getting a lot of strange EXC_BAD_ACCESS crashes on the iPad that only happen on the device and not in the simulator. I am assuming that they are somehow memory related, but I am not sure. They all happen with image context related functions. One strange example is using CGImageCreateWithImageInRect. For example, if i run through a bunch of UIImages and crop them with CGImageCreateWithImageInRect, it will always crash at specific arbitrary sizes. Like, if I crop them all to 200x200, it crashes out after processing 12 images. If i crop them to 210x210, it works no problem. The EXC_BAD_ACCESS happens inside of "memmove" called from "CGBlt_copyBytes". That is all the debugger shows me strangely enough. I can't see the callstack going up to any of my methods. All of this works fine in the simulator! I know this is all very vague, but if anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

  I have the following method and interface: public object ProcessRules(List<IRule> rules) { foreach(IRule rule in rules) { if(EvaluateExpression(rule.Exp) == true) return rule.Result; } //Some error handling here for not hitting any rules } public interface IRule { Expression Exp; Object Result; int Precedence; } Because rules have a precedence, they should actually never be processed out of order. This leads me with (I think) three solutions: Sort rules before passing them into the evaluator. Change the parameter type to something that enforces a sort order. Sort within the evaluator. I like option 3 because it always ensures that it is sorted and I like option 1 because it seems more cohesive. And option 2 seems like a good compromise. Is a scenario like this context specific/subjective, or is there really a best practice to be applied here?
