• ATI RS690m X1200 proprietary driver installation

  I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my emachine e625 AMD64 (TF-20) with an ATI RS690m X1200 graphics card but I didn't have 3D acceleration. The open-source driver works, except for any video effects or acceleration… I've downloaded the driver from ATI and followed the installation instructions and here is the result: Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version default:v2:x86_64:lib32::none:3.0.0-17-generic; make sure that the version is being correctly set by --iscurrentdistro What did I do wrong?

• RadUpload problem with firefox

  Q: I use RadUpload Telerik control to upload more than image ..this control is flexible and amazing one.. it works perfectly but recently i find the following problem :: the problem appears only in firefox not IE when click on Select button in this control to select my file the button doesn't work at all ,,but when i click on the textbox(which the file path appear in)it opens the window which i can select a file from it .. i don't know what is the problem with firefox .. i wanna the default behavior to not confuse the user ,i wanna when clicking on Select button , showing a window to select my file from it like IE.. any suggestions to fix this problem please...

• Mouse Capture and Selection

  I have a control, that moves around alot of different controls inside of it in the form of a grid. So basically, none of the container control is shown at any point. But i do have capture of all the mousedown and mousemove events of the controls inside. What id like to do, is create an effect alot like the desktop of a windows computer, where you can drag, and every control that is inside of the mouse's drag will be thrown in a list, and when the mouse is released i can perform an action on all the selected items. Is this possible?

• How can I convert arbitrary strings to CLS-Compliant names?

  Does anyone know of an algorithm (or external library) that I could call to convert an arbitrary string (i.e. outside my control) to be CLS compliant? I am generating a dynamic RDLC (Client Report Definition) for an ASP.Net Report Viewer control and some of the field names need to be based on strings entered by the user. Unfortunately I have little control over the entry of the field names by the client (through a 3rd party CMS). But I am quite flexible around substitutions required to create the compliant string. I have a reactive hack algorithm for now along the lines of: public static string FormatForDynamicRdlc(this string s) { //We need to change this string to be CLS compliant. return s.Replace(Environment.NewLine, string.Empty) .Replace("\t", string.Empty) .Replace(",", string.Empty) .Replace("-", "_") .Replace(" ", "_"); } But I would love something more comprehensive. • Best method to do A B testing across to subdomains

  I want to do an A B test of an entire site for a new design and UX with only slight changes in content (a big brand site that has good Google rankings for many generic keywords. My idea of implementation is doing a 302 redirect to the new version (placing it on www1 subdomain) and allowing only user agents of known browsers to pass. The test version will have disallow all in the robots text. Will Google treat this favorably or do I have to use Google Website Optimizer (which will give me tracking headaches)?

  I have my UserControls in a ~/Controls folder in my solution: /Controls/TheControl.ascx If specify the following: <a runat="server" href="./?pg=1">link text</a> ASP.Net seems to want to rewrite the path to point to the absolute location. For example, If the control is on site.com/products/fish/cans.aspx the link href will be rewritten to read <a href="../../Controls/?pg=1>link text</a> Why does Asp.Net rewrite these control paths, and is there an elegant way to fix it? I just want the anchor control to spit out exactly what I tell it to!!! Is that so hard?

  Hi All, I am working on struts2. I have an interceptor that executes before my action claas. Now when I submit on a jsp page control goes to interceptor and after some processing there the control goes to action class. This complete flow is running well. But I found two things – 1) Control does not go to action-validation.xml before going to action class. 2) Its not getting the values of textfield or etc that uses has entered into jsp page before submitting. Can anyone tell me how to find solution for these two points. Thanks in advance.

  I am trying to run eve off the latest version of wine. It was running just fine yesterday, now I go to start it and it tells me that I need shader model version 3.0.   Couple of years ago a reliable and decent performing Windows hosting was not affordable to many enthusiastic developers who want to try a startup idea or build a hobby site. • Building SANE from git-source produce backend missmatch on 12.04 even if built locally

  It seems to me that with Ubuntu Precise Pangolin it is all but easy to do a proper install of SANE from source (git-repo). I've found other scanning issues trying to find an answer to this, where the output people posted seems to indicate they suffer the same issue (unknowingly). If I run on a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 with compiled SANE source from the git I get: $ scanimage -V scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.24git; backend version 1.0.22 (I basically followed the instructions on http://ubuntuportal.com/2012/02/how-to-get-an-canon-canoscan-lide-100-scanner-to-work-in-ubuntu-11-10linux-mint-12.html since I didn't find any other information making sure that sane was not installed prior to installation.) My primary interest is the epson2-backend. In 1.0.22 it offers the wrong TPU settings for Epson V700 (TPU2-mode wasn't supported in 1.0.22, and the scanner is useless to me if I don't have the TPU2-support). Since if I ask it to enter transparency mode, it shows 1.0.22 behaviour, it implies that the epson2-backend comes from 1.0.22 and not 1.0.24 even though I just built it. If I install SANE with prefix to a local folder and run that version of scanimage it still produces the mismatch. However, on another computer where I installed a custom 1.0.22 build of SANE prior to upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04, I can build and install the same SANE-git locally and have it correctly match backends: $ ./SANE/bin/scanimage -V scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.24git; backend version 1.0.24 $ scanimage -V scanimage (sane-backends) 1.0.22; backend version 1.0.22 On this computer the 1.0.24 works correctly in finding TPU2 on Epson V700. So what am I missing/doing wrong? (And I want to replace 1.0.22 with 1.0.24 for the whole system, the local build was just debugging.) Any help would be much appreciated. Edit 1: Just tried compiling SANE using this instruction on Ubuntu 10.04 and it worked like a charm. However, when I upgraded to 12.04 (really would like to run 12.04), SANE was downgraded to 1.0.22. When trying the same set of instructions on 12.04 I was still out of luck -- the backend missmatch was there again (and I do have libusb-dev installed) Edit 2: I updated to Ubuntu 12.10 which now has the 1.0.23 SANE drivers. I haven't dared trying to compile from source on 12.10 since 1.0.23 is good enough for me. This is just a work-around and I would still like to know what's up with Ubuntu 12.04.

• C# Processing Enter Key on Custom Container

  I am currently building a custom container control. Everything was going along smoothly until I hit a snag during testing. I noticed that the Enter key is not getting processed to the control that has focus inside the container. Everything else works as expected though. I am able to click the button with either the mouse or space bar, but enter does not want to get processed. After doing endless searches on container controls and processing the enter key I have come up with no solution. I tried returning Enter as true in IsInputKey(Keys keyData) and that didn't work. Neither did setting KeyPreview on the form. I have tried it with my custom button and .NET's standard button. Like I mentioned earlier, spacebar will trigger the desired effect. Please tell me what I am missing. There has to be an easy / stupid simple way to get Enter to process over to the active child control.

  I have a DIV where some code is presented. When I hover on this DIV I want to present a button that toggles the comments inside the code block. So far I have this: $('.code-block').hover( function(){ $(this).prepend('<span class="code-block-control">toggle comments</span>'); }, function(){ $('.code-block-control',this).remove(); } ); $('.code-block-control').click( function(){ $('.comment').toggle(); } ); The span is presented when I hover over the code block. But when I click the span that is created nothing happens. Even if I change the click function to a simple alert nothing happens. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this.

  i use and enjoy Firefox on my Ubuntu 10.04.2 laptop (although Firefox needs work for the Linux/Ubuntu version..) Yet i realize that in comparison to other pieces of software that have an "Ubuntu/Debian" version (.deb file, and usually .rpm files as well), i don't see it in one of the most profound assets of the FLOSS world. • How can I force input to uppercase in an asp.net textbox?

  I'm writing an asp.net application. I have a textbox on a webform and I want to force whatever the user types to upper case. I'd like to do this on the front end. You should also note that there is a validation control on this textbox, so I want to make sure the solution doesn't interfere with the asp.net validation. Clarification: It appears that the CSS text-tranform makes the user input appear in uppercase, however under the hood, it's still lower case as the validation control fails. You see, my validation control checks to see if a valid state code is entered, however the regex expression I"m using only works with uppercase characters.

  We've started using the ASP.NET recaptcha control and it works fine. but one of the requirements we have is that all outbound traffic goes over Https. I know that recaptcha supports https, but It's not clear how to configure (or even if it is configurable) when using the ASP.NET plugin option. has anyone got any experience of this? I'll expand a little on what I've found so far.... The Recaptcha package contains 3 public classes RecaptchaControl, RecaptchaValidator and RecaptchaResponse RecaptchaControl is an Asp.NET control, the recaptcha specific methods on there seem to be concerning themes/look and feel. An instance of the Validator has a RemoteIP field (which I presume would represent the verification server), but I can't a way of binding that to the control. RecaptchaResponse seems to more or less represent an enum with possible responses (valid/invalid/failed to connect).

  Hello, I want to develop some kind of reports in Asp.net with x-axis and y-axis being dynamics, allowing grouping by row and column, for example: have products in y-axis and date in x-axis having in body number of sells of a given product in a given date, if date in x-axis are years, i want subtotals for each month for a product (row) and subtotals of sells of all products in date (column) I know there are products available to build reports, but i am using Mysql, so Reporting Service is not an option. It's not necessary for the client build additional reports, i think the simplest solution is having a control to display such information and not using crystal report (which is not free) or something more complex, i want to know if is there an available free control to reach my goal. Well, does anybody know a control or have a different idea, thanks in advance.

URL/blog/sublblog/article.html is now simply URL/article.html Unfortunately, this will destroy any linking programs they have going, and break all the old links. I need a way to use .htaccess say: if request = /(any subdirectory)/(string).html then redirect to /(string).html If that makes any sense.

  I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with backports for TexLive. Ubuntu 12.10 is to contain the same version of TexLive that backport provides currently to 12.04. I, of course, want to move from backport to the normal version of TexLive available in Ubuntu 12.10 repositories. How do I handle the situation? Do I upgrade the normal way and everything will be taken care of i.e. my TexLive installation will now be from repositories instead of backports?

The architecture is currently like this: Web Application -- calls a class that does the upload For example, in default.aspx, I call : FileHelper fh = new FileHelper() fh.MoveFiles(file) I have an Ajax control that fires when the above is called. This is a control that resides on the website class/project. How do I update the progress counter from the Filehelper class?   Recently I use data binding to speed up my development of C# winforms application. But I found that data binding is just useful when the control is Textbox or textare and text kind of controls. If things come to be radio button, image control or datagridview, it's hard for me to use data binding. For example, it's hard for me to bind a group of radio button to a database field. It's hard for me to pre-process the data in database and then bind to datagridview control(I know I can use view to do this, but it is not that convenient) So I really want to know, most of you guys when will use data binding?
